#12349 new Bug report

Remote Site DOES NOT REFRESH after idle !!

Reported by: AlienX69 Owned by:
Priority: high Component: FileZilla Client
Keywords: remote directory tree refresh Cc: AlienX69
Component version: Operating system type: Windows
Operating system version: 3.51 and 3.52.0-beta1

Description

Remote directory tree is no longer refreshing after installing the 3.51 update. 3.50 was working fine. After 3.51 refresh issue i tried to revert back to 3.50 but no longer had access to the 3.50.exe installer.

Next tried the latest beta 3.52.0-beta1, but getting same refresh issue.

Only resolve was to restart FZ, which causes extra work as I have to export active queued and successful transfers.

Started a fresh session this morning.

STEP 1: Put one file in download queue, when it finished it went to next step.

STEP 2: Surfed/scrolled on the host window frame, selected a folder to delete, and it just hung there. Had to kill FZ as it would not delete the folder.

STEP 3: Opened WinSCP to complete my tasks for today.

I really wish I could get this resolved as I love FZ. Been using for years, better than all the rest. But I need a working FTP Client.

FYI: When I first encountered this after upgrading from 3.50 to 3.51. I uninstalled 3.51 and reinstalled it to no avail. Then I tried the beta release, with same results.
Not sure if cache is the issue, and/or how to resolve if so.

Running latest Win10 Pro (20H2), OS build 19042.685, on Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz. 8.00 GB (7.89 GB usable) RAM

Used windows Remove Programs tool on the first go around. Used CCleaner to cleanup system and registry.

I will try to uninstall FZ using Revo Uninstaller Pro for the second go around unless you have a better idea ?

You mean the entire program froze? Can you reproduce this freeze? If so, please submit a mini dump of the frozen process. With the minidump I can see where exactly it is freezing.

You can create minidumps with Process Explorer: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
In Process-Explorer, right-click the running filezilla.exe and in the context menu select Create Dump -> Create Minidump...

UPDATE:
Whie waititng on a repy I did the following:

I've removed all traces of FZ installs and manually remove all files in:
C:\Users\<MyPCName>\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla

Also did a Defrag of C: (Auslogics Disk Defrag Pro) as my PC was in need.
FYI: I use multiple partitions and FZ is installed on my Apps partition.

Then I just reinstalled FZ 3.51 not 15 mins ago, an while it was instaling i figured I would check here for a reply.

So let me see how it goes an if the problem still persists, either way I will give you an update in 24 hours of less.

FYI: Thanks the speedy replies and assistance.

UPDATE:

Back to working as it should, "Welcome Back FileZilla" .... ;=)

Been steadily working with it for about 4 hours this morning

Looks like the issue has been resolved. Best guess is one of the files in "C:\Users\<MyPCName>\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla" was corrupt ?

While I have your attention, I would like to point out a feature that has been REMOVED !!
In the Transfer Queue pane window, you are NO LONGER able to reorder the COLUMNS.
My preference is to see the columns in this order:

Server/Local file | Size | Priority | Status | Remote file | Direction

It's "Server/Local file | Size | Priority" I'm most concerned with as I constantly change the priorities as I add NEW files to the Transfer Queue. The reason is my 17" screen space. FZ is shrunk to 8.5" of that space.

Hope all of that was as clear as mud .... LOL

FYI: I did computer/software support b4 I retired, 3D CAD (Intergraph/Hexagon PPM) ... lol !!
Cheers to all software technicians/engineers !!
