Multiple remote file deletions fail after about 500 files - reports "Connection closed by server". These files on the server are all in one directory - they are approximately 50k jpg files.
I suppose this could be a "server problem", but this always worked ok in the past. Seems like this has happened for the past year. I keep updating versions, but the problem persists. Not a big deal, it just takes longer.

Yes, it's a server issue. Your server probably expects you to transfer some files once in a while.
It should suffice to adjust some timeout settings in the server configuration.
