#4036 FZ fails to parse trailing / in PWD dir names and strips traling / on CWD normal rejected 15 years 15 years
Description

FZ Version: 3.1.5.1 Issue also vitnessed in version 3.1.2, 3.1.5 Issue does not exist in (at least) version 2.2.11

When FTP server return, f.e., "257 "9.256/" is current directory." upon FZ issuing command "PWD", FZ fails to parse with (debug) message "ControlSocket.cpp(356): Failed to parse returned path. caller=0p13482d8".

Also, when I manually type in a directory name with a trailing / in the "Remote site:" field, FZ strips the trailing slash before sending it to the server. Observable in the message log: Command: CWD /9.258 And also observable in a Packetcapture.

rgds, Henrik.

#1054 FZ does not handle trailing spaces in hostnames normal 18 years 18 years
Description

Version: FZ Client 2.2.19a

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch FZ Client
  • Enter any valid hostname into the "Address" box of

the Quickconnect toolbar, and add a trailing space. For example, "ftp.wustl.edu "

  • Click Quickconnect

FZ can't resolve the host name, and times out.

The same problem occurs if a connection is created in site manager with a trailing space in the hostname. Leading spaces, however, do not cause a problem.

This is a minor issue, but keep in mind that it's not uncommon to get trailing white space if you copy a hostname out of a text file and paste it into FZ.

#5064 FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 normal rejected 14 years 10 years
Description

My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network.

After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following:

Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed

After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help.

FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine.

I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla.

I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state.

It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature.

#9762 FZ client and filenames with leading space in SFTP mode normal fixed 10 years 7 years
Description

Hello all,

FileZilla client fails to download a file with a space as first character in SFTP mode. When starting the transfert, file is added to "Queued files" and then moved to "Failed transfers" with message "Could not start transfer"

#5673 FZ Crashes on slow computers with ssl normal outdated 14 years 12 years
Description

Hi, I have a serious problem with ftps on my eeePC (WinXP Home 32, intel atom): as soon as i use ftps (SSL), filezilla(3.3.4.1) keeps hanging up the entire system and sometimes even crashes. the connections are really slow and the gui is not really responsive. connecting over normal ftp is no problem. i use filezilla server(0.9.37 beta) on my other pc(Win7 x64, Core i7), which is pretty fast and has no problems with this.

i understand that ssl needs cpu power, but is it necessary to crash filezilla?

#12174 FZ 3.48.0: On reopening a server file, the popup always comes up defaulting to "Reopen local file" normal duplicate 4 years 4 years
Description

I believe this issue is new to FZ 3.48.0.

When one reopens a previously-opened server file, one gets a well-known popup asking whether to "Reopen local file" or "Discard local file then download and edit file anew".

Prior to version 3.48.0, IIRC, this popup would come up with a value already selected, that value being the one the user had last selected (i.e. remembering the user's last selection, whether reopen or discard). As of version 3.48.0, this is no longer the case. The popup always comes up defaulting to "reopen", which is slightly inconvenient for me, as I almost always require "discard" (i.e. an extra click).

Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to have FZ return to remembering one's choice (or alternatively adding an option as to what should be the default value for this popup).

#12165 FZ 3.48.0: "Opening Failed" error message normal fixed 4 years 4 years
Description

The following bug has appeared today, immediately after I had upgraded Filezilla to version 3.48.0. It didn't happen with previous versions (I have been using FZ daily for years --- thank you for creating this wonderful tool).

Now, whenever I doubleclick a LOCAL file in order to edit it, I get an error message popup reading "Opening failed: The file '[FILENAME HERE]' could not be opened: The associated command failed" (+ OK button). This is a spurious error message, as the file does open just fine. This happens with every local file I try to edit, forcing me to close this popup on every local file edit (a very common occurrence for me). It does not happen with files on the server.

My relevant settings are:

  • File lists -> Double-click action on files -> View/Edit
  • File editing -> Default editor -> use custom editor -> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vim\vim74\gvim.exe"
  • File editing -> Always use default editor

Additional observation:

  • If instead of double clicking the local file, I right click it and select "Edit" the same error appears. However, if I select "Open" it does not.

P.S. Also posted this on the forum.

#12170 FZ 3.48.0 Client File Associations Broken - Similar to other tickets normal duplicate 4 years 4 years
Description

#1218 FTPS+HTTPPROXY=does not work! Alexander Schuch normal 17 years 10 years
Description

Client error: FTPS+HTTPPROXY=does not work!

Server: 0.9.22b Client: 2.2.30 Proxy server: any Connection type: FTP over SSL/TLS (implict encryption) + HTTP 1.1 PROXY

These bugs are only with Filezilla client+FTPS+HTTPPROXY. If you use connection at Cuteftp8.0+FTPS+HTTPPROXY or FilezillaClient+FTP+HTTPPROXY, it works. So the problem is with Filezilla client v FTPS+PASV.

Hello, Thank you for contacting Newtek, The Small Business Authority. My name is Bryan with the Tech Support Team and I understand that you are having an issue when attempting to upload files to your site using FTPS on port 990. In looking into this issue for you, it would appear that the issue is related to the FTP client you are using when trying to upload files. I was able to replicate the issue using Filezilla. In speaking with one of my Tier 3 Tech Support Agents, I was informed that there is a know issue currently with Filezilla and other clients with uploading files using FTPS. They advised that I try a different FTP client such as CuteFTP to complete the upload using FTPS. I downloaded CuteFTP and confirmed that uploads are successful when connecting with FTPS. Please test on your end and let us know if you run into any further issues. Thank You,

#12741 FTP with TLS explicit in mac normal worksforme 23 months 23 months
Description

Hi!

I'm desperate. I have 2 macs and in neither of them I can connect via ftp with tls. I can only connect via plain ftp (insecure). I think the problem is that when making the connection it does not ask me for the certificate. Other colleagues can connect with tls, and they DO ask to accept the certificate. Why don't you ask me for the certificate? I have tried everything, I have even formatted the computer. Have you had a similar case?

Thanks.

Just right of the "open site manager" button, the quick scroll menu displaying the list of the FTP sites does not work as it used to.

#7920 FTP passive connection is not closed high invalid 12 years 12 years
Description

Create a binary file with contents: ff 00 00 00 Send it over FTP in passive mode, the connection hangs un-closed, thus server locks the file until timeout reaches, then Filezilla Client repeats an attempt to send the file, obviously failing as the file is locked on the server.

This is not the only file that makes filezilla hang a connection. A lot of UTF-16 files causes the same problem. Maybe all, don't know.

According to Wireshark, FTP-Data message of 4-bytes length is never followed by a FIN message, neither it is FIN itself.

#10199 FTP over TLS fails on IIS without all patches installed high rejected 9 years 9 years

First I connect to the server with the client and it is fast and no problems. I open the folders on server and on my pc so I can make a transfer. I doubleclick to transfer a file, and it reacts allright, but then it reports an error and for a slight second I can see the file in the list on the serverfolder and then it disappears. So instead of updating the file on the server the file is now missing!!!! I tried several times. This occured just after upgrading the client on automatic suggestion. Which I have done before without problems. Now this is extra annoying as it is the last thing I wanted to do before going on a travel tomorrow morning. And now instead of having an updated website I have a website with 2 missing files. Here is a copy of the report:

I know the error 451-System completion code and reason: B37-04 is because the z/os file is full. my problem is "why FZ did not take the custom command?" Site tracks pri=300 sec=30 when I get the response of accepted.

In downloading a 26 MB file from an FTP site the process starts and then terminates with only 2 to 4 MB downloaded. It does not report any problem with the download and implies that the entire download was successful.

I immediately tried accessing the FTP site with IE 6 and I sucessfully downloaded the file, hence I don't believe that the site was having a problem.

I also had the same problem about 10 days ago.

devel\gdbstorage_NG\trash\2014_07_03÷2014_07_06 Banská Bystrica" containing Unicode and spaces 3) App crashes with error: /home/nighlybuild/buildroot/packages/wxWidgets/src/msw/treectrl.cpp(1287): assert "item.IsOK()" failed in IsSelected(): invalud tree item. see screeshot: http://www.imagesup.net/?di=314055907286

#4701 FTP client can't connect to dl.free.fr normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

I am trying to save data to my ISP's free FTP; Filezilla is configured as:

Host name dl.free.fr Port : 21 login: robert.soubie@… password : any password

When password is received, messages say :

Erreur : Erreur critique Erreur : Impossible d'établir une connexion au serveur

Freshftp, using the same data, works perfectly; so does Ontrack Easy Recovery Professional, which can send data salvaged from hard disks data to a ftp site.

Hope this helps, regards, Robert <robert.soubie@…>

#4947 FTP Upload stops (similar to #4936) normal fixed 15 years 11 years
Description

Using Version 3.2.8.1

Uploading PDFs appears hit and miss - mostly "miss". Tried uploading singly or as a batch with variable results - mostly "Failed". They appear to get so far in the transfer and time out. They also come up with screwy transfer rates - a file of 237,334 bytes has a transfer rate of 237.3 Kb/s

Uploads via a web based FTP app are successful (so I don't think it's the files' contents).

Has only happened with installation of latest version of FileZilla - no problems previously.

#10823 FTP Status Window over writing Menu Bar normal rejected 8 years 8 years
Description

Running on:

  • Fully patched windows 7
  • Browser: Chrome Version 50.0.2661.75 m (64-bit)
  • FileZilla:3.17.0

On long FTP's with large number of files, the top window where the status of the FTP is provided will scroll over the Windows Menu bar. This happens if the window is left open for a long time and no other windows are brought over the FileZilla window.

To correct, minimize then maximize the FileZilla window and the menu bar is re-displayed with the FTP File status scrolling only to the size of the area it should.

To be clear:

  • The Bar that shows the Host, Username, Passcode, Quickconnect prompts gets overwritten
  • The Bar with the Action Icons above the previous bar gets overwritten
  • The File, Edit, ... text bar does not get over written
#4483 FTP Server on local network - Replace 3 times normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

Hi,

Our FTP server is on a local network, so when I FTP files there, they go really fast, not sure if that's the cause of the problem.

Basically every time I drag-drop a file to FileZilla to upload to the FTP server, it asks me 3 times if I want to overwrite the existing file. The first time it actually displays the old file size and the new, but after that I'm overwriting identical files twice.

This is very annoying just having to click the ok button multiple times, but even worse when moving multiple files, I can't tell if all were moved successfully because I keep getting a bunch that say failed and that are getting moved multiple times, so the counts are off, and they aren't actually failing.

#10037 FTP Passive mode with misconfigured remote server and generic proxyenabled normal rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Hello,

I believe to have discovered a bug with the following:

If I access an ftp server in passive mode, that return its internal address instead of the public address after a PASV command, FileZilla with the “Use the server external IP address instead” option selected (under the Passive mode) does exactly that and the connection works (expected behavior).

When FileZilla is setup to use a FTP Generic Proxy (socks 5), that behavior seems to break and I can see in a wireshark trace, FileZilla requesting to the Proxy server to make a connection to the incorrect internal address instead of the external address.

Version of FileZilla: 3.10.0.1 Proxy server used : CCproxy 8.0 - http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/

Why is it that when you down load a file that the last modified date of the file changes? Surely this should remain the same date as the file itself.

#3766 FTP Client has problems to list directories on VSFTPD Server normal rejected 16 years 16 years
Description

I have a VSFTPD Server on Linux, configurated to allow FTPES connections only (Explicit TLS), through port 990. The newer versions of FileZilla Client (since 3.0.11.1) can connect to the server, but then, occurs a fail when the client tries to list the directories in the server. It shows a message saying that it "could not read from transfer socket: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted". And then, it shows another message: "failed on recover listing of directories from server".

I'm using the version 3.0.11, because it is the last version released in wich I can get effectively a connection to the server. Please understand: the versions 3.0.11 and earlier can connect successfully to the server.

#4816 FTP Client File Bug! high outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

For several weeks now I have been experiencing an odd sort of problem. Everytime I use Filezilla to upload website page updates, the page comes up blank. It's is not a problem caused by my hosting provider since I have already been able to upload those pages via their hosted FTP Client.

Example: index.html 23kb 9/11/2009 will upload as index.html 0kb 9/11/2009. This problem is very serious because if I don't check to see if the pages uploaded correctly, then I will have sites with missing pages.

Thank you in advance for taking care of this problem.

#1133 FTP to upload.sf.net fails consistently for large files Alexander Schuch normal 18 years 10 years
Description

I am having that persistent problem with large file updaloads to Sf.net File Release System. I have had it for ever, including on the current latest release 2.2.25 It happens consistently for files that are above ~150MB, regardless of the connection I have (I tried it with ADSL, SDSL, Cable and T1) and the machine I use (typically winxp pro or home).

A queue ends up with a critical transfer error :-\ No problems with smaller files. And no problem when I use a command line FTP client on a mac. I use the deafults settinsg and a single connection for upload, with nothing else running on the machine at that time. A typical log looks like that. And note that the file DID NOT exists before the updalod in the FRS .

I mean when you ad or delete a file outside FZ the directory in FZ stay the same.

F5 was working before, I think.

I hope this makes sense.

What I do not understand is that when I downloaded this verson 3.2.3 (zip file) it automatically found the settings in the previous version 3.2.2.1 even though it is in a different folder. There is no sign of any XML file in either Filezilla folder, just some DLLs ... where are the settings stored? Can I copy the 3.2.3 folder to another PC and keep the settings, and will I have to delete my previous 3.2.2.1 installation on the other PC?

I am very confused :-(

#11064 Explorer freezes when doing a transfer while notification is being shown high duplicate 8 years 7 years
Description

This is a bug with Windows, but I believe FileZilla can do something about it as well. Duplicate of #10968 but it's rejected and I wanted to provide more information on how to trigger this.

1) Perform a transfer and get a notification about its completion 2) Perform a second transfer that completes while the notification is still up 3) Taskbar and other Explorer elements (win+e, win+d, win+r, win) are now frozen for what seems to be 90 seconds (however, alt+tab works). One cannot work on the computer anymore for as long it is frozen.

If you do a transfer while the notification is up that doesn't complete until the notification is gone, everything works as intended.

The only way to prevent this is to turn off notifications for FileZilla completely.

1. The Command line you used to start Microsoft Office Access contains an option that Microsoft Office Access doesn't recognize.

Exit and restart Microsoft Office Access using valid command-line options.

2. Failed to create connection to server 'Msaccess' on topic 'ShellSystem': a client's attempt to establish a conversation has failed.

This happens in version 3.0.8

#4267 Errors on Files with names beginning with numbers normal rejected 15 years 15 years
Description

Hello,

I'm using a recent 3.2.1 filezilla and the listing of some files (name and size) is false. This bug is more than just visual, files wrongly displayed can not be downloaded. Comparing with an older version (2.2) it seems to me that the problems concerns files having their names beginning with a number, or begining with a number and having a blankspace, etc...

See screenshots, where original filename

02Conversion PDF Output-StartPage_000000001.pdf weight 541078b modification date 11/02 at 2 o clock is displayed:

PDF Output-StartPage_000000001.pdf, weighting 11 o, mod date 02/02 So seems to be a lag: files seem to have their size displayed as their modification date, their modification date as their modification time and so on

Odd enough, some dates are not concerned: 07 and 10 for example...

See attached files Thanks in advance for any help

Getting the below error while doing ftp to server on port#990. If i do ftp with server name for ex- abc.example.com over 990 port, if fails with below error. However, if i do ftp with real IP address on port-990, it works fine.

This issue is coming only in new FileZilla 3.8.0 version. With Older version 3.7*, it works fine.

#4897 Error: local: unable to open normal invalid 15 years 10 years
Description

If I'm trying to copy files from SFTP server in my case (I guess from any server) directly to mapped network drive I get following symptoms:

Some files are transferred OK but then Filezilla Client hogs CPU time (whole machine becomes bit unresponsive) and after some timeout following error appears:

error while writing local file

and to some other files after this one: local: unable to open Z:\dir\ec\to\rytree\file.end

Files with error are partially transferred and then stopped.

Like said error do not appear on all files. If I transfer files to my own hard drive everything works. This behavior appear with versions 3.2.8 and 3.2.8.1. 3.2.7.1 works correctly.

#7983 Error: GnuTLS error -9: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received. normal fixed 12 years 10 years
Description

The "summary" error occurs on line 553 in the Log File after "Response: 226-File successfully transferred" on line 546. It appears the error causes FileZilla to attempt to download the file again which results in the "File already exists" dialog. I assume it is the same thing that is occuring on two other files when backing up a WordPress installation from a GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated Server. If I select the default option to overwrite, it will loop on transferring the same file over and over for 20 minutes or more. Other than these 3 files, the transfers complete successfully. I have also noticed that the file on my Windows 7 Professional system has the current date instead of the source file date when this happens.

#3732 Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing -- files on server do not appear with 3.1.2 normal invalid 16 years 16 years
Description

I just upgraded to FileZilla Client 3.1.2 and immediately received the error mentioned in my Subject Line. The result was that I could not open the Directory listed on my server's window (there was no + next to it). Furthermore, if I clicked on the - on the parent directory, it closed the sub-directory (as it should), but would not put a + on that one, so I could not navigate back down. My server is fine, as I could access it through an older version of FileZilla that I have on my laptop. I tried to reboot, and also to reinstall, and nothing worked. Please advise ASAP, as I need to use FileZilla on this machine. I have never experienced this problem, and all that I did was upgrade to 3.1.2. Also, none of the files any of the directories show in the bottom right pane.

Description

Contacted Yahoo support... They indicated they suspect Filezilla has a bug, because they have received many calls this past week where customers are no longer able to FTPS to manage their small business hosting. Suggested contacting Filezilla support... This behavior is the exact same from any of three different servers I have, on three different networks, at 3 separate locations... Note: I also have another hosting account with different credentials that also will not connect, from any location.

authentication is the same as my mail account, so I have confirmed many times that the account works for mail...
