#9048 [PATCH] Directory listing fails for dates in October and server locale=PL Patch normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

FileZilla Client: 3.7.3 Protocol: SFTP Server type: Unix Problem: a directory listing in Polish server locale fails when the returned dates are in the month October and in the "short-month-name day hour:minute" form, e.g. -rw-------. 1 owner group 345306 paź 14 21:17 file-name FileZilla Client will see this object as a file named "paź 14 21:17 file-name" with no date/time assigned. You can't download such file or browse to such directory, because the name FileZilla shows and uses doesn't actually exist on the server. The reason for this is the Polish "ź" letter in the "paź" word (which is Polish for "Oct"). FileZilla doesn't seem to recognise the encoding. Changing the encoding in FileZilla doesn't help. Changing the server type in FileZilla doesn't help either. Possible solutions:

  • use listing that displays dates in a predefined format, e.g. YYYY-MM-DD, if possible,
  • allow the user to specify the command to use for listing, if possible,
  • add the problematic character to the codes to have it recognised.

The patch that will be attached to this ticket adds support for ISO-8859-2 and UTF-8 encodings for the letter and additionally adds the sequence that the particular problematic server sent. Tested, works.

#9050 Floating server list option Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When I chose an option from my servers list, the option I chose stays on the screen, like floating. Check the image for more info. Quitting FZ doesn't remove it.

#9065 Large file uploads to 100% and fails Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

When I upload a file it uploads fully then restarts the upload infinitely. It will not save to location. I've tried all the different options for "action after queue completion" but none seem to let the fully uploaded file enter my directory.

#9071 Copy File names Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Is there no way to copy a listing of the files in a directory to a text file or spreadsheet? There is frequently a need for me to manage, sort, compare and so on, files within my directories. I realize that they can be "clicked" and the filename copied one at a time, but that's really time consuming. I'm really surprised that there isn't such a feature. Especially since I've seen others asking for it.

#9074 file modification date wrong in remote site - 1969 Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I have installed two sftp servers in windows 7. I always use filezilla client for any connection and all works right. But in this special case with windows, I got the problem that the date reported in remote sever by filezilla was very wrong. The client reports a datetime near in 1969 year, but the files were modified in this year 2013.

By the way I'm using ubuntu.

I tried another client GFTP and the date error dissapeared. Please fix it.

cliente Filezilla v. 3.5.3 server: windows 7 professional / Core FTP Server I used before fresSSHd server with the same result.

#9105 New translation for Corsican language Patch normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Hello,

FileZilla is a very useful software! Thanks for its development.

I would also like to contribute to its use, so I've translated it in Corsican. You will find attached the .po catalog file containing the translation in Corsican of the latest .pot file.

I would be pleased if you could include this new language in the next version.

I just specified 'Patch' as Type and 'Other' as Component because it concerns both, but I'm not sure if these are the expected values!

Best regards, Patriccollu.

I recently used the FTP with no incident, so this error came out of nowhere. When I try to transfer PDF images as a folder containing several (7) files, I get the following error message and it says it could not start the transfer:

#9122 Filezilla's download button links to Ask.com-signed installer Other normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Is the Filezilla download button supposed to link to a proprietary installer that does not match the published signature or filename?

By clicking through to the additional downloads page, it is possible to download Filezilla without this installer, but I find it very hostile behavior of open source software.

The "special offers" I got in the installer were both called WinZip, but neither are the actual WinZip software. One was a registry cleaner, the other I don't remember. Beyond that a "special offer" of freeware is not "special" (so that is misleading by itself), the product's names are very misleading to users, probably damaging their computers and filling it up with adware, and also damaging to the reputation of Filezilla. I'd rather pay than run this proprietary, misleading adware. If you guys need better hosting, I can provide a 35mbps connection with unmetered data. Thanks.

#9141 Filezilla silently fails to start under OsX 10.9 with default security configuration Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

On a clean install of Mavericks, where the 'Allow apps downloaded from' setting has been left in its default state of 'Mac App Store and identified developers' Filezilla fails to run, with the console output ...

30/12/2013 11:50:04.037 CoreServicesUIAgent[4974]: Saving rejection record:

As I understand it this is the OS killing the Filezilla process due to the default security settings. If the OsX setting is altered to 'Anywhere' Filezilla runs up as expected.

The 'Bug' I wanted to report is that for some reason, I assume due to the way the application runs up; there is no display to state why the application didn't run, it just silently fails to start. Other applications trigger an OS pop up stating that the application can't be run due to the current settings, and appear in 'System Preferences >> Security & privacy >> General' with the option to allow them anyway.

#9151 Client freezes due to multiple dialogues being open at the same time Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

When you edit files while a queue is being processed, there is a rare chance of having two dialogues open at the same time, cancelling each other out.

That's because when you edit files, there is a chance of the "Selected file already being edited" dialogue popping up. After this dialogue shows, a second dialogue can pop up, asking the user whether to overwrite an already existing file, since the queue is still running in the background.

This results in a freeze, since neither the dialogues nor the main program can be closed anymore.

#9156 save login details from the quick connect bar history Feature request normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Hi,

I have been using FileZilla for the last two years. Its a great app. I do have a suggestion. It would be great if you can implement a feature to save login details from the quick connect bar history.

Some softwares like CCleaner will clear the quickconnect history by default. We will need to manually change the CCleaner settings to prevent this.

I had lost some of my clients login details because of this.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, Shijith.

Our FTP server supports this ability, but FileZilla does not send the MFCT command during uploads, just the modified date/time. #9205 Context menu opens on unexpected item in LocalTreeView/RemoteTreeView (where you can accidentally delete wrong directory) Patch normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I am using Windows 7 and haven't tested this under other operating systems. This happened to me with stable release 3.7.3 and a build I did tonight from SVN.

When using the right mouse button to bring up the context menu in either the local or remote directory tree controls in FileZilla Client, if you drag from the highlighted folder over one that isn't highlighted and release the button, the non-highlighted folder will be the target of the context menu that pops up. Worse, if this happens with a remote directory and you choose to delete the directory, the warning dialog that comes up doesn't give the name of the directory to be deleted.

I took a look at src/interface/LocalTreeView.* and src/interface/RemoteTreeView.* as well as the wxTreeCtrl source from wxWidgets 2.8.12. The event handler for a context menu event in LocalTreeView/RemoteTreeView is passed a tree item ID by wxWidgets that corresponds to the current mouse cursor position when the right mouse button is released. This is apparently standard behavior for Windows, so it seems it's up to FileZilla to accommodate it.

I'm attaching a patch that solves the issue for me. It adds an event handler for right-button drag that sets a boolean variable to 'true' to indicate (when the button is released and OnContextMenu() is called) that the context menu should use the currently selected tree item instead of the one passed to it by wxWidgets. If no drag occurs, the variable is false and the context menu will use the tree item passed by wxWidgets. The variable is reset to false after each OnContextMenu() call.

I thought it might be sufficient to have OnContextMenu() always use the selected item instead of the one under the mouse pointer, but if that is done it does not find the correct item if a different folder than the one currently selected is right-clicked.

#9233 Parallels Compatibility Issue? Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I recently installed Parallels on my Mac and since then have been experiencing errors with FileZilla that I did not have prior to Parallels. I am wondering if there is some sort of compatibility issue? Here are the issues I’ve been encountering.

I cannot access any SFTP sites. The user name and passwords are correct, (double checked with the site owner), but it will never let me connect. FTP works as far as pulling up the site, but disconnects me from actually making any changes.

This is the most recent error code I received : Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server

I am the only person in my office experiencing this issue with the same sites, and the only one running parallels, thus leading me to believe it's a parallels issue?

I appreciate your time!

#9260 Moving files on server side - no warning Feature request high FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Hello, I very strong request following future: when moving a file or a directory in the server side window, there should a warning dialog; i.e. like: "Want you really move xxx to the destination yyy" [YES] [CANCEL]

Why is this important? Because there can be a lot of trouble when you using FTP on a virtual server as root (where you can not connect other to do admin transfers) and unintended move i.e. some library directory. Just some mouse wipe, and ups, later on you searching what has happened an get a lot of trouble. With a warning you would get in attention what happened and you can stop the move with CANCEL before it has started. I look for this future in FileZilla since years ago. My old FTP-Client WS_FTP form 2001 had implemented this behavior. I could bye a new WS_FTP version but I would more like to use FilleZilla. But without any warning it is to dangerous for me to use FileZilla. I think it is not very complicated to realize this. In addition there could a option in the properties dialog to activate and deactivate this Move-Warning-Dialog; because some do not like it.

Thank you for an update when its would be done

#9293 "filter IN items matching all of the following" Feature request high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

There is currently no way to filter IN items passing the specified test. For example, right now I need to see only file names that (1) contain ".dsc" and (2) end in ".jpg". There is no way to do this.

A quick and dirty enhancement would be to add a checkbox that, when checked, causes the filter to INclude rather than EXclude.

I've marked this "high" priority on the presumption that this would be easy to do and would significantly improve the usefulness of filtering by making all boolean operations possible. From a boolean algebra point of view, the current filtering options are logically incomplete.

#9302 Filezilla damages the binary file it transfers when the file has no extension Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I am trying to transfer the binary file from the remote server to my local directory by dragging and dropping it.

The original file has size 1,855,488 bytes, the resulting file has size 1,855,392, as also reported by filezilla itself.

The file is the binary SQLite database.

The transfer log: Status: Starting download of /public_html/xxx/includes/xxx Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (198,46,81,146,124,133) Command: RETR webcal Response: 150-Accepted data connection Response: 150 1812.0 kbytes to download Response: 226-File successfully transferred Response: 226 2.623 seconds (measured here), 0.68 Mbytes per second Status: File transfer successful, transferred 1,858,120 bytes in 3 seconds Status: Disconnected from server

File is always transferred with the same discrepancy (subsequent attempts produce the same wrong version). The file in question didn't have any extension (no periods in its name). There is 'Default transfer type' option in 'Settings' which was set to 'Auto'. When I selected 'Binary' there, the discrepancy disappeared.

Another, smaller, SQLite database (290,816 bytes) was transferred correctly. It had a period in its name, but no recognizable extension.

So I believe that filezilla wrongfully defaults the type of file without extension to 'Ascii'. When the type of file isn't known, and 'Auto' is selected, it should default to 'Binary'.

#9318 'Overwrite if newer' overwrites file even if they have the same timestamp while uploading. Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Using version 3.7.3 the options 'Overwrite if newer' works correctly. However, after upgrading to version 3.7.4.1 all files are overwritten even if the files have the same timestamps.

I tested it with identical directories and files. First I uploaded files with version 3.7.3. Everything works as expected. Only files that actually were newer got transferred. Then I set-up exactly the same files and directories and use version 3.7.4.1. All files were transferred, even the files having identical timestamps.

I also noticed that the files have correct identical timestamps in the treeview (see attachment for just one file).

Settings the server timezone offset +1 solves the wrong file-overwrite behavior. However then the times in the treeview are not displayed correctly.

The logging for transferring 1 file that has identical timestamps at both the server and the client (test.txt) looks as follows:

#9327 Cannot Connect Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Everyone within my company is now having issues connecting to the FTP with filezilla client. We are using a Linux server with Debian Operating System for our file server. I have researched this issue but none of the solutions I have found have helped. Are there compatibility issues? Can someone please help me figure this out.

#9335 Don't move skipped files to successful transfers list. jakub Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

As the summary says, this would make it a lot easier to verify which files were actually uploaded. I often use "Skip if same filesize" which, has happened that it skipped a file I wanted to upload because they had exactly the same filesize. It's also just generally nice to see which files were uploaded.

#9337 Transfer not retried after code 530 Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Windows, version 3.7.4.1. Imagine I attempt to transfer/upload 20 files to my FTP site (not FileZila server). My FTP server supports 10 connections. I set the transfer to support 10 connections. Sometimes, the server fails with code 530 (see log below).

Bug is, when that happens, it doesn't attempt to re-try file upload.

I have attached a log file. In is it the initial attempt to upload the files. Then, there are 2x more attempts to upload the files that didn't initially transfer.

I understand that the retry logic is tricky. However, the minimum it should do is -- at the end of the transfer, it could show a dialog saying something like "7 of 20 files failed to transfer".

Keep up the good work!

Sean

#9349 port number Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Trying to upload to my website and putting 21 in as port number, I get the message: "Could not parse server address:

Invalid port given. The port has to be a value from 1 to 65535"

This same message occurs regardless of what port number is used.

I note that there was a ticket about this some six years ago but I could not see an answer.

#9362 Feature request: extension conversion Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I edit files in a windows environment. The file extension tells the editor how to behave. The target platform is legacy, where a filename has 1-8 characters only. Request example for copy file from windows to legacy: FILENAM1.CBL -> FILENAM1. Also: FILENAM2.SBL -> FILENAM2. Example for copy file from legacy to windows: PROGNAM1-> PROGNAM1.CBL (only one possibility here). WinFTP Pro has this feature. See also ticket 5400. Thanks.

#9365 file upload indicated it failed when it didn't Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I frequently upload a file "roster.php". It has always worked the first time, But, over the past month or so it indicates "Accepted data connection" followed by another request if I want to overwrite the existing file. I respond yes and it repeats the sequence about three times then then says file transfer failed. But when I look at the file the file has been updated. It didn't fail after all. Today I chose to hit cancel in the 2nd request to verify that I wanted to overwrite the file.It then told me that the file transfer was successful. I've attached a screen clip. Now that I know that all I have to do is hit cancel I can live with it, but thought you should know.

#9379 Incorrect count of selected files and size Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

1 On OS X only, connect to FTP, go to a folder with files on the server.

2 Press Cmd-A to select all files on ftp server > count shows total number and total size.

3 Click 1 file > makes 1 file showing as selected, but selection count is not updated, still shows total count, incorrect.

4 Continuing now with a multiple selection (using Cmd key) makes it even more messy, the count is increasing or decreasing depending on whether you click above or below a selected file.

#9387 upload problem from pc to server Other normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I have a hard drive on a router (linksys EA4500) connected to it via a remote pc to be able to use. It gives the error message: fatal bestandsoverdrachtsfout (file transfer error).

What can this be the cause?

#9396 530 Error Bug Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hello,

I have been using Filezilla for over 4 years now, it recently stopped working and started giving me a 530 error. I know all my credentials are correct because I never changed them. I recently purchased new web hosting for another business that I have and same error. Here are the credentials I have tried:

Host - mydomain.com, ftp.mydomain.com, ftp://mydomain.com Port - 21 Protocol - FTP Encryption - Plain FTP Logon Type - Normal User - atrivisano, atrivisano@… Password - correct password

I tried to login to my FTP server via google chrome with this:

Host - mydomain.com User - atrivisano@… Password - correct password

and it worked. Also, I tried coreFTP and it said I could not log in. I have tried setting to Active Mode and I have allowed Filezilla through my windows 8 firewall. My point of access for the internet has always been my iPhone Hotspot and has not changed.

My question is: How do I fix this because the File Manager on web hosts SUCKS...

#9400 Limit size of logfile isn't working correctly in OS X Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Limit size of logfile doesn't really follow the size user set. it is always limit to 10KiB even when I set 1000 in box. And the box display in unit of MiB but I think program actually set the size in unit of KiB. But it really doesn't matter since program doesn't take any value from user's settings.

#9406 Rearrange/Organise Tabs Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

The ability to rearrange and organize tabs would be very useful. I like to open several FTP connections to several load balanced servers simultaneously with identical folder structures, for instance:

ServerA --model --view --controller ServerB --model --view --controller ServerC --model --view --controller

It would be good if I could drag tabs to organise all models to be next to each other without having to close and reopen.

#9412 Site manager (with 5 sites) throws error for FTP login but Quick Connect does not Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi,

When using the site manager to connect to a site it throws up this error:

Status:	Resolving address of web1213.ixwebhosting.com
Status:	Connecting to 74.91.250.2:21...
Status:	Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 ProFTPD 1.3.3g Server (74.91.250.2) [74.91.250.2]
Command: USER xxxxxxxx
Response: 331 Password required for xxxxxxxx
Command: PASS *********
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error:	Critical error
Error:	Could not connect to server

(I have redacted the account number but they are both the same in the place where I put the xxxxxxx.)

But when using the Quick Connect bar with exactly the same information it connects OK as seen here:

Status:	Resolving address of web1213.ixwebhosting.com
Status:	Connecting to 74.91.250.2:21...
Status:	Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 ProFTPD 1.3.3g Server (74.91.250.2) [74.91.250.2]
Command: USER xxxxxxx
Response: 331 Password required for xxxxxxx
Command: PASS *********
Response: 230 User xxxxxxx logged in
Status:	Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
Status:	Connected
Status:	Retrieving directory listing...
Command: PWD
Response: 257 "/" is the current directory
Status:	Directory listing successful

The error occurs ONLY with one particular site - the last one that I added (the 5th one). The other 4 sites connect from the Site Manager without any problems.

The protocol I am using for all my sites (including the problem site) is FTP - File Transfer Protocol. Encryption is Use plain FTP (same for all sites). Logon Type for all sites is Normal. User and password boxes are filled out with correct data.

I am using the newest version, 3.8.0, and it is doing this same error as the older version I had (I don't remember the previous version).

#9423 All my passwords were deleted for no reason Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

FileZilla turned off the storing of passwords (including ticking the box in settings) which led to me losing all my passwords.

This is what I did:

  1. Use the Site manager as usual.
  2. Connected to site A. Downloaded some files.
  3. Connected to site B, choosed to not use a new tab for the new connection.
  4. Downed and upped some files.
  5. Opened Site manager and renamed one item (site C) in the list on the left.
  6. Tried to connect to site D, was asked to enter password - soon realized all my passwords were gone.

When googling I found this forum thread (https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29878&start=15&sid=35e6379be2d519696199a78e6d9dbf14). The same thing happened to me as to the people in the thread. But I did not today and haven't for weeks used the quick connect toolbar.

I realize this is not enough information for anything. And my simple attempt to recreate the problem resulted in nothing. I'm putting this here in hope someone else who is affected by this problem has more information.

My installation of FileZilla is from regular FileZilla update, I don't think there was one very recently.

#9425 Update to New Version should not delete all QuickConnects Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

When updating to a new version, Filezilla loses all the Quickconnect information. The purpose of Filezilla is to make it convenient to upload files to websites, including not having to look up all this stuff every time. And the more you use Filezilla, the more you tend to forget all these connect details. Until a new version of Filezilla is releases, and you update to it -- then all that information is lost, and you have to look it all up again! Very inconvenient for your users -- almost makes it not worth upgrading to the new release.

At the very least, add some way to view the Quickconnect info, so we could at least print it out before upgrading to a new release, then type it all in once again after the upgrade deletes it all.

#9427 Error:GnuTLS error -16: A TLS warning alert has been received Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Getting the below error while doing ftp to server on port#990. If i do ftp with server name for ex- abc.example.com over 990 port, if fails with below error. However, if i do ftp with real IP address on port-990, it works fine.

This issue is coming only in new FileZilla 3.8.0 version. With Older version 3.7*, it works fine.

#9428 time shift when send/receive files from remote server me Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Internet plans (like mine) have sometimes different capacities in different hours of the day and night. Would it be possible to set the time to start for downloading/sending files from/to remote server at a certain time? For instance, I have a limit of my LTE connection for 35 GB a month plus another 50 GB between 1 a.m. to 7.a.m. As a journalist and a photographer I have to send pretty big graphic files to my editor, so with my internet plan it would be more convenience to set a time shift in sending these files during the night time.... #9438 invalid GnuTLS ciphers string for GnuTLS < 2.11.5 Patch normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

FileZilla supports GnuTLS versions 2.8.3 and later.

However, in src/engine/tlssocket.cpp, the following code appears:

#if GNUTLS_VERSION_NUMBER >= 0x030100
char const ciphers[] = "SECURE256:+SECURE128:+ARCFOUR-128:-3DES-CBC:-MD5:+SIGN-ALL:-SIGN-RSA-MD5:+CTYPE-X509:-CTYPE-OPENPGP";
#else
// Versions before 3.1.0 cannot combine level keywords
char const ciphers[] = "SECURE128:+ARCFOUR-128:-3DES-CBC:-MD5:+SIGN-ALL:-SIGN-RSA-MD5:+CTYPE-X509:-CTYPE-OPENPGP";
#endif

But this is wrong, because SIGN-ALL wasn't added to GnuTLS until version 2.11.5. From the GnuTLS NEWS file:

* Version 2.11.5 (released 2010-12-01)

** libgnutls: Reverted default behavior for verification and
introduced GNUTLS_VERIFY_DO_NOT_ALLOW_X509_V1_CA_CRT. Thus by default
V1 trusted CAs are allowed, unless the new flag is specified.

** libgnutls: Correctly add leading zero to PKCS #8 encoded DSA key.
Reported by Jeffrey Walton.

** libgnutls: Added SIGN-ALL, CTYPE-ALL, COMP-ALL, and VERS-TLS-ALL
as priority strings. Those allow to set all the supported algorithms
at once.

Because of this bug, FTPS support is broken on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, which is a very common Linux distribution.

I created the attached patch. I've tested the patch locally, and verified that FileZilla can now properly make TLS-enabled FTP connections on RHEL6. Could you please apply it?

One caveat: you should verify that my selection of signature algorithms is reasonable.

Thanks!

#9441 Latest GnuTLS breaks compatibility with a number of servers Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

As of v3.8 FileZilla is not able to connect over SSL/TLS to a number of FTP servers; Tested against ZFTP Server and Syncplify.me Server, maybe there are others. Older versions of FileZilla Client work perfectly. Servers have not been updated, therefore it must have been something in the FileZilla Client 3.8 update.

#9443 Need To log On twice Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When logging into my work server I need to log in twice. The first time it always hangs at the:- "command Type 1" When logging in again it gives me the option of cancelling the current log in and retrying. When I select this it then completes the log in and it works fine. This fault has been apparent since an Filezilla upgrade some months back.

bcco62@vweb,ocps.net

or

We get: response: 331 Please specify the password Command: PASS Error: connection time out Error: could not connect to server

This problem is intermittent and unpredictable. Sometime it lasts for 5 minutes other times for hours.

#9451 Keep asking "A File has Changed" popup! [Not fixed in 3.8.0] Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

A ticket from 2 months ago reads fixed. I have yet to see the fix in the latest version. Every time I switch to the FileZilla window, I automatically have to select "No" every time. Dialog box reads: "A file previously opened has been changed." Then the option, "Upload this file to the server?". It is quite frustrating and sends files all over my directories if I select the default "Yes".

#9452 can't maintain connection, duplicate connections? Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I've made no changes to FileZilla. PC is clean of viruses/malware per a full scan. Trying to download current website content in prep for monthly updates. Filezilla pauses then restarts, but after a few iterations of this gives the error message: "421 Too many connections (8) from this IP"

The full listing is:

Waiting to retry... Resolving address if hbartleague.org Connecting to 74.124.197.191.21... Connection established, waiting for welcome message... 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP Could not connect to server

My host checked on their end, and noted that if their server wasn't clearing connection, it'd crash soon. Kinda makes sense.

Their only suggestion was to reinstall FileZilla, suggesting that a config file has become corrupted. Is this my only option?

#9454 Target File Shows 0 bytes Bug report normal FileZilla Client invalid
Description

I am using the most current Filezilla version. I transferred the file 1harry.html onto my Website http://www.igs.net/~awhp. The file 1harry.html shows 1,190 as the file size from my computer files and 0 when I upload it to the site. I double click on 1harry.html to upload and get the window twice "Target file already exists," with action as "Overwrite" since I'm attempting to upload an updated version of 1harry.html. The transfer starts at Queued Files, looks like it's transferring with the numbers increasing. The message at the bottom says,"Failed transfers(1) and the message "Could not start transfer." Before, the upload would say successful but show the new file size as 0. I have checked the forums and attempted all the recommendations listed but without success. This issue has been ongoing for three weeks.

#9466 FileZilla Unresponsive during file transfer Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

With Version 3.8.0 FileZilla will become unresponsive and cease file transfers - the process has to be terminated via task manager (Windows 7) - I have had to roll back to 3.7.4.1 - with this version I experience no issues whatsoever.

#9468 encrypt websites data, irrespective of application password Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Five years ago (Ticket #4565) this request was rejected, with the conclusion "On a secured computer plain text passwords are secure".

There is no such thing as a secured computer, and recent events prove this without doubt.

If you trust your door lock, then you may conclude that you dont need to lock drawers, but in reality you do: you are protecting at different levels; you may want your kid not to have access to the drawer but you still give him a key to your house. The drawer lock may not be foolproof, but it does deter from prying.

Website data needs a drawer-level security.

Stating that "A (security) chain is only as strong as its weakest link" does not mean that making things more difficult to an intruder is useless.

I wish the developers take a different stand on this issue. Until then, I will replace FileZilla with a client more respectful of this point of view.

Bye FileZilla.
