Loggin in hangs at this point. Looks like people are saying to change an FTP setting in site manager, and that works, but I want to be able to access my 2 sites the old way -- using the quick connect bar.

If this can't be resolved quickly, how can I download the previous working version (people are complaining about the last TWO updates).

What do I change in settings to make it work again?

In the latest version of the installer, when the French language is selected, there is a string which is not displayed entirely :

I assume this is either :

OR

Installer says I have to be an Administrator to uninstall FileZilla since I earlier installed for all users. Refuses to proceed.

The installer requires acceptance of the GPL. This is incorrect, since end users do not have to accept the GPL. The GPL is not an 'end user license'. It even says so in the GPL itself:

" 5. You are not required to accept this License, since you have not signed it. However, nothing else grants you permission to modify or distribute the Program or its derivative works"

If the user 'does not accept the GPL' of an application, then that just means they can't distribute it. It does not prevent them from using the application.

To fix this, the EULA agree/box should be removed from the installer.

The 2.2.12c installer lists its version as 2.2.12b.

The installer flat out says you *MUST* accept GPL to install FileZilla 2.2.29. However, The GPL V2 states:

Section 0:

"Activities other than copying, distribution and modification are not covered by this License; they are outside its scope. The act of running the Program is not restricted..."

And similarly, Section 5:

"You are not required to accept this License, since you have not signed it."

Could you look into rewording the license screen on the installer?

This is an issue that was fixed in either 2.29 or 2.30 (issue 1626027).

The installer once again requires acceptance of GPL v2 to install. See issue 1626027 for the reasons why this is incorrect.

I tried downloading the client installer from the FileZilla website today, for the first time, from here:

On this page it says the latest stable version of FileZilla Client is 3.23.0.2

When opening the installer I get this alert message in Mac OS: "You can’t open the application “FileZilla-Installer” because it may be damaged or incomplete."

I tried downloading the installer 2 more times with the same result.

really small annoyance. This behaviour is present since version 3.0 beta until 3.0.10. At the end of the installation the installer asks me where it should put the shortcuts. And each time the desktop shortcut is unselected and I have to enable it manually. Can't you make it so, that the installer remembers that I had the desktop icon enabled with the old version of Filezilla?

I really like the update functionality. It´s almost perfect up to one point: FileZilla should be started by the installer when finished. This could be a checkbox as seen in other installers.

I downloaded and installed the 3.2.8.1 update at the completion of the install and when it went to start filezilla my stopzilla came up with a trojan found message. It reported that the funny UST scandal trojan was found. I had to reinstall an earlier version of filezilla 3.2.8 to get back into the program. I deleted the version and downloaded and installed it again and got the same error.

To reproduce:

Generate a certificate signing request (CSR). Example with openssl:

openssl req -new -out certreq.txt

Give the private key a password of "test". For this example, the corresponding private key will be dropped in the current directory as "privkey.pem". Note the location of this file.

Use the CSR you just created to obtain a Thawte trial SSL certificate for free:

Paste in the text from the certreq.txt file, and save the resultant certificate text in a new file, certnew.pem.

Pull up the FileZilla server interface. Access Edit -> Settings. Click SSL/TLS settings. Click Enable SSL/TLS support. Enter the full path to privkey.pem in the "Private key file" field. Enter the full path to the new Thawte trial certificate in the "Certificate file" field. Press OK.

Filezilla server interface hangs, and consumes 100% of CPU. Interface must be force-killed.

I’m a webmaster, and a daily user of Filezilla.

BUT: Every time a install a new version, Malware software gets installed without any option of not to select. The product is something called Optimizer Pro.

Every time I have a lot of work getting rid of that stuff.

1) Uninstall work ok 2) My Antimalware product (runs every day) gives results as shown below 3) Spybot gives results as show below, even after uninstall, so traces remain in registry!

Today again an email for a new Filezilla version, but I think I will remain on the old(er)version, or even swith to another cleaner ftp software.

When installing updates i get a message that it has not installed but will open with the default setting. See attached.

I am getting the timer creation failed error when I try to download the latest version. If I try to click through it, I get a 16 Bit MS-Dos popup, when I click ignore, I get an illegal instruction error. I'm never able to complete the download. I've tried downloading through the application several times. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

It would be great to have the possibility to translate (I prefer from Eng) to other language (in my case Italian) to have menu, messages, labels in the preferred language other than English or whatelse.

There are integer overflows in enging/directorylistingparser.cpp and interface/remotelistview.cpp, when converting from the string received to int64_t. A number higher than the max of int64_t as the size returned in a directory listing will be improperly parsed and produce nonsensical results, such as a negative file size.

This happens on lines 220, 2644, and 2665 in directorylistingparser and 782 in remotelistview (not an exhaustive list).

Since this value is not used, other than displayed to the user, I do not think this can be exploited, nor crash the program.

The window showing the file list has the file size cut off mod 4GB. This is because UpdateFile in src/engine/directorycache.[h,cpp] uses an int for the file size. Should use wxLongLong or wxFileOffset.

I have noticed that I cannot depend upon Filezilla to upload files reliably. I just spent an hour with GoDaddy technical support to discover that even though my FileZilla upload screen showed (RH panel)that files were being uploaded, that they were in fact noton the destination server.

I verified this with GoDaddy's FTP program and also the CoffeeCup FTP program

When I connect to my home computer which has following setting:

[LoginType=Interactive]

And I try to downlaod some MP3s, FileZilla asks me for my password even though I have already entered it. Sometimes happens 2/3 times.

Please give this part of the software close inspection.

FileZilla keeps asking for password when I am downloading from server which is set to Interactive LoginType.

Save the actual size of the windows, if I close the window of FileZilla when is maximized it should be remain like that, because when I start again FileZilla it go to it original state.

In others words it not save the change I made to the interface, remove some toolbars, resize the windows and other things, is a little buggy resize the window again...

Interface is already quite good but there could be some little tweaks added to make it even nicer

• a "download" and "upload" button, to help newbies
• ability to put panels one on top on another so we can

have [distant tree][distant files] [local tree ][local files ]

• add an option to lock the panel splitting when

displayed by 4 (2 columns/2 rows) so that in the former example [local tree] always has the same width as [distant tree] and the same height as [local files]

• make some nicer icons (winxp style) or possibility to

change them.

When transfering files on local network the interface locks and accessing other windows and performing clicks, typing etc. is hindered.

When the Settings window is closed by pressing Ok the settings for Interface Settings::Startup settings are applied immediately instead after the next reload of FileZilla.

In 2.2.30:

If the message log is turned off, the gui positioning isn't saved properly - the queue gets pumped up out of proportion.

This happens with both Startup settings set to 'always use the following configuration below' with message log turned off there, and also if set to 'remember last used configuration' and message log turned off by the gui icon.

I use FZ client 2.2.9; some settings are:

• Active mode (i.e. Passive mode unchecked);
• Yes limit local ports available... lowest=50100,

highest=50103;

• direct connection (both client and ftp server are within

a company's intranet);

• server is "ftpd" on HP-UX.

I do the following (repeadtedly): {open FZ; quick connect; close FZ}. Intermittenly, I get a "Could not retrieve directory listing" error!

I am running the most recent version of FileZilla: Version 3.3.1. Additional Client info is below (bottom).

I was transferring an ASCII file from my computer (WinXP) to a server (Linux). I noticed the file-size of both files (source and dest) was identical, which seemed odd. So, I verified the settings (below), and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer with the same outcome. The file-size on the client and the server was 1070 bytes.

Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Default transfer type: Auto Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Automatic file type classification: (list of file-types including txt)

Filename: abc.txt File abc.txt: 47 lines File abc.txt: 1070 bytes (DOS)

Then I changed the transfer type setting to BINARY, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. The file was written on the server with an identical file-size (as expected).

Then I changed the transfer type setting to ASCII, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file written on the server with a smaller file-size (also, as expected). The file-size on the server was now 1023 bytes.

Finally I changed the transfer type setting back to original setting of Auto, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file was written on the server with an smaller file-size (as expected). At this point, everything appeared to be working correctly, but the original failure and failed retry are unexplained.

Occasionally when transferring files, FileZilla client uses 100% of the physical memory available (I have 8GiB in the machine, and FileZilla goes up to approx. 92% of that) and the disk starts to thrash, significantly degrading performance.

Nothing is logged during this.

Once the file in the queue finishes, the memory is all released correctly and the operating system eventually recovers.

FileZilla Client version 3.3.2.1, built 2010-03-21 but this problem has been happening for at least the last 6 months in various versions, if not longer.

Seems to be more apparent on larger files (several gigabytes) but this could just be because they take longer to transfer, so the chance of it happening increases. It generally happens suddenly in the middle of an existing transfer.

Unfortunately because it is so sporadic, it is hard to replicate.

An internal text editor in a panel at the right of the remote one could be usefoul to edit and upload a file withouth closing it, losing the "undo history".

You closed my ticket too early. Your conclusion is not correct.

In your reply (1), you totally fail to indicate why I do manage to log in to my provider, upload files and download files using the other software (PC) and app (Android). If it is a provider problem, then this should not be possible with the other software and app either.

It is a FilezillaPro problem. I am happy to remove it from my PC, because I am completely done with it.

... Thanks for your reply. So the issue is not being able to log in (= getting folders) to my provider. I am using the same data/settings as with WinScp (PC) and Solidexplorer (Android). Filezilla Pro generates an error message. Also -eventually- specifying the external path/folder does not help. Already tried *everything*. Again: WinScp and Solidexplorer do not give any problems. I have to use Winscp next to FilezillaPro. A pity and not very convenient either.

This definitely is a server-side issue. A textbook example of a redirect loop. You need to contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for assistance.

With V 2.1.6, I cannot connect to a site via port 2121. System responds with "Invalid PORT Command" and "Could not retrieve directory listing".

We have a second site that is FTP'ing files to the FileZilla server and once complete the client software (non-filezilla s/w) move the files to a done folder. We have encountered a situation where the client software reports that files have been sent but the filezilla server shows the files received roughly an hour later. Is this possible on the server side or would it appear to be a problem at the client side. I have attached a copy of the log file for a 3 hour period. The user name in question is "d_dsour_nc04". If you search the log file, d_dsour_nc04 logs in at 10:35:18 and dumps a file off, and then the next time that d_dsour_nc04 appears in the log is not until 11:35:36. The client machine shows that file where sent during this 1 hour period.

I don't understand , is it a bug in filezilla client version 3.6.0.2 or there is any setting missing on server side.

Since I migrated to windows 10 on my desktop, I've been able to get on the server via ftp, but I can't drill down into the sub-folders. Nothing happens when I double click on the sub-folders to open them. I don't have this problem when I use filezilla on my macbook pro laptop.

It uploads some, but not all, files, and some of the files that were uploaded show a file size of 0. The new separated transfer "thread" in Filezilla is nice but the implementation has problems.

I think you must have a user definable file size, below which the seperate connection is not established and instead the "browsing" connection is used (as how it worked before). When developing I tend to upload small files repeatedly and before this was very quick, but now every time I upload a file I have to wait about 15 seconds everytime for the connection to be established.

Also, it appears that the second connection is dropped as soon as the file/queue is transferred. I think you need to add an option so that this connection is kept alive for a specified duration of time. So when new transfers are initiated it doesn't have to reconnect again (which on my system takes around 10-15 seconds).

When using filezilla it appears that passwords are authenticated when they are correct and when they begin with the correct password. example password is pass1234 pass1234 will authenticate and pass1234567 will authenticate. I have tested this on both windows 7 and on linux 64bit and both behave exactly the same.

I downloaded client version 3.3.5.1 today and when I tried to view/edit a JPEG image on the site, I get a message stating "No program has been associated to edit files with the extension jpg." I have tried changing the extension of the file on the site to .jpeg and still get the same message. I checked the file assciations in the Filezilla client and the box "Inherit system filetype associations is checked. I tried rolling Filezilla client back to a previous version and continue to get the message even though the previous version used to open file types without issue.

My website is still uploading JPEG files from our employees and the website still displays the JPEG files. However, after 1/14/20 FileZilla no longer displays any JPEG files even though I know these files exist on the webserver. This prevents me from backing up JPEG files since I cannot see them through the file viewer.

The SFTP server is a IPSwitch WS_FTP Enterprise Server, version 7.5.1.2. There are two virtual directories in a home folder but a folder named "Jan 01 1601" is added to every site that I connect to. The folder does not exist at the file system and is not a virtual directory.

After some research the date "Jan 01 1601" has some significance in Windows. "January 1 of this year (1601-01-01) is used as the base of file dates[1] and of Active Directory Logon dates[2] by Microsoft Windows" -​http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1601

I've used tested the same site with WinSCP and native sftp in RedHat Enterprise Linux 5. The other SFTP clients does not display this folder.

This is quite annoying.

A ticket from 2 months ago reads fixed. I have yet to see the fix in the latest version. Every time I switch to the FileZilla window, I automatically have to select "No" every time. Dialog box reads: "A file previously opened has been changed." Then the option, "Upload this file to the server?". It is quite frustrating and sends files all over my directories if I select the default "Yes".

To reproduce the bug, do the following with FileZilla 3.7.4 Final version:

1.) Login to an ftp site 2.) Edit a php file for example and modify in the file and save. 3.) Now FileZilla will ask to if you want to replace that file in server because File has changed.

4.) Now edit another php file, don't save it, just close that file. 5.) BUG: FileZilla will again show the same popup (3.) again and ask to save.

Can there be an option so that when a transfer has been completed, it remains in the queue window with a "Completed" status. Then you can have a in the right- click menu to say "Clear all" and "Clear completed", etc.

Sorry to ask, but I had to reload Vista on my computer, and I do not remember how to keep the connection alive. I looked in settings , everything. I just do not see it. Could you tell me how to send the keep connection alive please.

Please provide a feature to keep the download files with original datetime stamp from FTP server.

This is NOT another rsync or DirSync request!

FireFTP has the feature to "Keep directories in sync while navigating". I really mis this in FileZilla. What this does is simply - when opening a folder- open the corresponding folder on the other side. i.e: you click on the folder images in the local root, and the remote switches to it's images folder. That saves you browsing to your desired folder twice.

This is very similar to #4891, except this is on Windows using 3.3.4.1

FZ says "Target file exists"

And I say "overwrite if source newer" and also "always use this action".

FZ then keeps asking me anyway.

Please make this work properly - really, really annoying when dealing with lots of files, as I do throughout the day.

I have been using Filezilla for a long time and wondered if it is able to keep remote directory up to date.

When I open up an FTP site (e.g. to update a webpage) I sometimes have to go down a few directories for the page to be uploaded. I thought it would be great that the program could:

1. Upload the local file (in its sub-directory) to the correct sub-directory on the remote.

or

2. As I navigate on the local pane, the remote pane also corresponds to what I am viewing (or vice-versa, if I am navigating the remote pane).

The filezilla client may send NOOP command periodically to avoid server's timeout.

FileZilla Version 2.2.x Client kills D-Link DSL-584T during usage. No Protocol works after the kill. The route have to been reseted, to work again.

With other FTP-Clients there are no problems. Switching beetween passive / active mode make no differences. FileZilla kills the router after one file is transfrered.

Any Idea? Any Setting? Any suggestion about the D-Link DSL-584T

"74_기술지원" is original korean character, "/74_±â¼úÁö¿ø" is broken korean character. "00_제안서" koreanCharactersubDirectory is ok.

After the upgrade from FileZilla Server 0.9.60 to 1.2.0 my FTP client can not list an existing folder. With old FileZilla Server version it works.

This bug breaks our automation processes. Please fix it.

The LIST and NLST don't support using ? as a wildcard. RFC 959 says: The pathname should specify a directory or other system-specific file group descriptor.

Id have thoguht these would be passed straight to windows to filter the matches.

All 3 of the requests listed above should have returned the same single match each time.

The current version of filezilla's server (0.8.3a) does not list files after receiving the command LIST. It even doesn't recognize the command. Just add LIST as alias for DIR or LS and everything works.

(The concerning directories are home directories with every right set.)

Using this version I have no problem uploading my files to the HP support ftp site

Using this version I cannot get the folder info on the ftp server. After a connection is made I get an "error" about the certificate used. I accept that message using the Ok button. After that the connection continues but then stops at the LIST command. This does not seem to be related to the certificate error but I am not sure. However, Filezilla 3.9.x has no problem using the site. In case it is relevant, the (Dutch) warning is: Het certificaat van de server is onbekend. Controleer het certificaat zorgvuldig om vast te stellen of de server vertrouwd kan worden.

It says the certificat is unknow. Should that be the certificate or the certificate chain as it seems to be a normal Verisign certificate. It is a RSA-SHA-1 2048bit certificate in case that is relevant.

Is there a possibility to change the server's response and did not return an error? If you can not make changes to the future version, can you to recommend changes of code to implement this behavior?
