#4519 Occassionally doesn't stop downloading Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

This was posted years ago, but was listed as closed and fixed years ago also. Occasionally, when downloading a file, it will reach 100%, pause, then continue downloading. I also noticed the possibility listed that the server could be sending out the wrong file size, but I have also set up my own FTP server and was able to replicate the problem. In this instance, the file size reported was correct, just a couple megabytes, but continued to over 5 gigabytes.

#4540 Unable to download BIN file from ftp.epygi.com Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Filezilla for Windows generated an error when doing an FTP GET of the file named SW-SOHO-0501-1700.bin, so I performed an update to version 3.2.4.1 and tried again. The same error occurred, so I did a download of the file using IE6.

The site is public, so you can try it as many times as you would like. The file in question is a binary image for an IP-PBX; about 20-22 Mbytes in size. The type of FTP server is unknown.

Here are the settings from the newly installed build:

#4566 Toggle directory comparison button Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Directory comparison button options (on right click) looks like not shown correctly... probably there should be an menu radio buttons for "Compare filesize" and "Compare modification time" options (or they should be organized as an checkboxed items...)

The another negative of the current button (which control so useful functionality) is that looks like it doesn't keep it's default state.. i.e. it doesn't turns on after it was turned off automatically after for example out of synchronization root.

Thank you for program!

#4580 filezilla crashes on global site download if file or folder generates 550 error Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

when trying to download a complete remote site, the filezilla client crashes if this site contains a file or folder that, when seperately downloaded as a single file or folder, would generate a ftp 550 error : 550 : No such file or directory. filezilla crashes (displays the crashed popup), while other threads successfully download the rest of the site. it seems the offending files are not visible in the standard available windows ftp commandline client utility (ftp.exe) the full error when attempting a separate download of such a file is : "550 icon: No such file or directory Error: Critical error"

the crash info in the eventviewer is : "Application popup: filezilla.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x77c43de0" referenced memory at "0x04397000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program"

incidentally, the crash is reported in the system section of the windows event viewer as an application popup, while instead it should be reported in the application section as an error.

#4581 Corrupting Wordpress File Uploads! Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

For some reason, MANY people using Filezilla to upload files to their Wordpress, self-hosted blogs are getting parse errors. It seems filezilla is doing something to the files as it uploads that is corrupting the file and causing our blogs to be UNUSABLE. Sometimes you can just keep uploading the offending file until filezilla gets it right, but I have now reached a point where even my localized file seems corrupted. Not sure how to explain this, but if you search wordpress.org forums for parse error, you will see the mention of filezilla being the ftp client. I wasnt having any trouble until the last two upgrades. The last one seemingly the worst offender of all! Now i get to try to figure out how the heck to get this fixed, as my blog is out of commission until i do. I liked filezilla until the swtich to wordpress...guess i better find a different ftp client.

#4593 No directory listing from VxWorks in Vista Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Running Filezilla client 3.2.5, I cannot get a directory listing from certain VxWorks servers in Vista. The servers are embedded in a home controller (AMX NetLinx, to be precise) and are running VxWorks 5.5.1. Here is a copy of the exchange on my Vista machine:

Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 VxWorks (VxWorks5.5.1) FTP server ready Command: USER administrator Response: 331 Password required Command: PASS Response: 230 User logged in Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 Current directory is "doc:user" Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Passive or active does not matter, and it is not a timeout; the failure comes immediately. On the same network, the same connection, the same router, and an identical setup, but on a machine running XP, the listing and all other operations are fine. The problem is only with my machine running Vista.

#4600 Attack during identification process ? Bug report high FileZilla Server outdated
Description

Hi,

I have installed FZS 0.9.31 on a windows XP SP3 box a month ago for a private use: there is a small number of well known clients. And during this month, FZS has going crazy several times. CPU skyrockets to 100% with someone connected but no user identified in the list of users in the admin console.

It always follows the same scheme: someone tries to authentify 2 or 3 times with the same username (USER command), without giving any password (no PASS command) and FZS go crazy. Kicking or banning user make FZS go back to normal.

I have played with almost all the options of FZS without any succes. And I can't sum up my tries here but they have had no effects. Then, I have tried the following workarounds:

  • create a simple "Administrator" disabled account - not working
  • create a simple "Administrator" enabled account with password - not working
  • create a simple "Administrator" enabled account with password and SSL required - working

I can't create an account for each potential name that hacker-maniacs out there will try. So if someone has a solution.

I don't know if is is a security bug and if it concerns others versions of FZS.

#4601 Progress Bar on "Check for updates window" runs off the right edge of the window. Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

This bug had been submitted as Bug No: 4409 on 10.04.2009 for Filezilla 3.2.2.1; and was solved. It has now reappeared.

When I use the "Checkfor updates.." function on the "Help" menu on the

FileZilla Client v 3.2.2.1 (it was the same with the previous versions) the progress bar and the text below, runs off the right edge off the window. The the blue progress indicator works as expected for some time but it then hits the right edge. The text below indicates that the download is still going on. It seems that the progress bar and the text below is out of scale by a factor of 2. It needs to be reduced to half of its current width.

#4627 Annoying password popup when upload queue fails repeatedly Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When uploading a file, if the FTP server closes the connection, FileZilla client asks me for my password in a popup for immediate reconnection.

This is annoying when the FTP server systematically closes the connection (for example because I have exceeded the limit of simultaneous connections and the server has put me on a 10 minute timeout). FileZilla's password popup steals focus from the main window so that it's impossible to stop the queue processing. Trying to close the popup just makes it open again immediately. Effectively the only way to escape the situation is to close the popup as many times as there are files on the queue.

#4649 large text file in ASCII mode did not get downloaded during ssl/tls session Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Filezilla 3.2.6.1 vsftpd 2.1.0 on AIX with TLS support

When I downloaded a large text file (e.g. 80KB file) in ASCII mode from remote server to local PC (using either implicit or explicit tls/ssl), the file does not get copied. This was tried on both passive and active mode. I have no problem downloading same large text file in binary mode. I also have no problem with smaller text files and uploading large text files in ASCII mode.

I see 2 error TLS messages in debug mode Trace: GnuTLS error -8: A record packet with illegal version was Trace: GnuTLS error -9: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.

WinSCP have no problem downloading large text file in ASCII mode so it may not be the server issue.

#4663 My file will not upload/transfer Bug report low FileZilla Server outdated
Description

I use Windows XP. I am using verson 3.2.6.1 My files will not upload - they stop midway through and declare themselves "Failed files". I have been trying since yesterday - repeatedly. My host is ftp.forefactor.com I have deleted numerous files so that there will be room for the files to transfer. They are very large WAVE audio files (approx. 322,000,000) I have re-booted and re-started. The transfer seems to be very slow. There is a flashing red light at the bottom right hand corner of my screen (I thought this was supposed to be green).

When it fails it says the following: It disconnected from the server. Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

Previously, when it disconnected, the file continued to transfer. I do not understand why it completely disconnects now.

Please advise.

#4664 FileZilla connections fail using Old/Pre-installed clients, but not fresh installs Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

FileZilla (newest versions) fails to connect to a VSFTPD server (2.1.2) using the standard timeout of 20 seconds in standard FTP mode on Windows XP machines. Clients never 'touch' the server as far as server logging is concerned and shows 'connection timed out could not connect to server'. Server is running RedHat Enterprise v5 patched as needed. Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5 #1 SMP

  1. Increasing the client side timeout to 30 seconds allows the clients to connect, but directory displays and other actions are sluggish.
  2. This occurs on previously installed and used FileZilla clients, even those that have been uninstalled and reinstalled.
  3. NEW/Fresh (never before installed) installs of FileZilla on Windows XP/Vista machines connect to the server quickly and flawlessly every time with the stock 20 second timeout.
  4. We have turned OFF firewalls on the server side, no effect.
  5. Disabled firewalls on Windows machines, no effect.
  6. Using other FTP clients (cuteFTP, NCFTP, and command line clients) on the effected machines provides clean/quick FTP connections. Only FileZilla seems to have this problem.
  7. This is occurring from various locations, and connection types so its not related to a particular network or location on the client side.
  8. Problem can be reproduced every time.

#4679 filesize changes after transfer and is corrupt Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Filezilla client v3.2.6.1 OS Windows Vista ultimate sp1 intel core 2 quad processor

similar to existing ticket# 4659 but with filezilla clent instead of server. During file transfer with 85k adobe pdf file, prompted twice to overwrite existing file with same name. Upon closer inspection after transfer, file appears to be "cut" at 65k size and balance of file appears to be overwritten, but transfer terminates due to timeout.

Went to verify on second computer: filezilla v3.2.6.1 OS windows XP sp 3 intel core 2 duo

same file transferred without a problem without second prompt to overwrite existing file. Transfer is successful.

Error is repeatable with Windows vista ultimate computer and successful transfer is repeatable with windows xp computer. Appears to be specific to window vista ultimate for this case.

#4743 Client program overrides most Windows based programs and will not uninstall Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I had an old version of Filezilla (2.1.12?) and used the menu Help/Check For Updates to upgrade :-

1) This downloaded FileZilla_3.2.7-rc3_win32-setup.exe from sourceforge. 2) I uninstalled the old version using the uninstall option in the program folder. 3) I ran the new .exe file to install. 4) Running this new version said that there was a later version to install, so downloaded this. This was a file called FileZilla_3.2.7_win32-setup.exe. 5) Trying to install this however, fails. Running any Filezilla exe file now just starts Filezilla itself. This includes the uninstall program (from the program folder or directly from the file). 6) I now cannot run several programs, as Filezilla client starts in the place of them. An initial list (but not exhaustive) is below :- Run/cmd (DOS command line window) Control panel/Add/remove programs Notepad Windows Media Player Calculator 7) Some programs start alongside Filezilla, eg Firefox. 8) The only program (so far) that runs alone is Microsoft Outlook.

I have a logfile at debug level 3, but it is empty as no processes have been carried out within Filezilla itself.

I notice that a download from filezilla-project.org now downloads from cloudfront.net.

Please, is there a patch for this?

#4752 skip the 3.rd file when uploading a group of files Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

last version -as well as the former- when a group of consecutives files to be uploaded in the manager is selected ,filezilla usually skips the 3.d file ( sometimes the following too). I nedd to delete the 0k-file on the server , then a new uploading of the single file is succesful.

#4772 breaking RFC by replying 150 after establishing data connection Bug report normal FileZilla Server outdated
Description

Hi,

RFC 959 explains 125 and 150 (valid intermediate responses for STOR/RETR) as follows:

125 Data connection already open; transfer starting. 150 File status okay; about to open data connection.

If the data connection is already estabilished and after it the server receives STOR/RETR then it should respond with 125. I connected in passive mode using my custom client to verify this. I first estabilished a data channel and after it only I sent STOR but still got 150 which is wrong.

Following is part of my code :

data = new Socket(pasv_ip, pasv_port); data_os = data.getOutputStream(); data_is = data.getInputStream(); control_os.print("STOR " + "file.txt" + "\r\n"); System.out.print("---> STOR " + "file.txt" + "\n"); control_os.flush(); System.out.println(control_is.readLine());

However if I tried sending STOR before establishing data channel then Filezilla hanged while other servers were able to handle this scenario.

#4789 file size limited to 131kb Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hello,

Every time I go to upload pictures to my FTP site using FileZilla, I get the following error message: "The target file already exists. Please choose an action." And it lists the source file with a size of 1,201,025bytes and the target file with a size of 131,072.

(I have a print-screen of this error message for you to see, but I can't figure out how to attach it to this message)

This happens for each and every picture I upload.

Some more information:

I am given a list of "Action" options on the right side of the error message to choose from including overwrite, resume, rename, skip, etc, and no matter what option I select, my files get converted to 131kb and I suppose "corrupted" in the process.

I have tried to switch the transfer type from "auto" to "ascii" to "binary" and none of this seems to correct the problem.

I have used FileZilla in the past and have had no problems uploading pictures before.

I have tried a number of different internet sources to see if it is a restriction on the upload limit, but that doesn't correct the problem.

I am using the latest version of filezilla. In fact, I have tried it with the last two versions since I was prompted to upgrade to the latest one today.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Heather

#4804 Using FileZilla while using my iPhone as a modem (one problem company - others fine) Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

There is one web host provider that I cannot upload anything to any of the sites they host while using my iPhone as a modem. I have contacted them and they are baffled by this issue and they too would like to know what the problem/solution may be. I have no problem uploading anywhere else (other sites and web host companies). It is only their clients sites that I cannot upload to.

I CAN upload to these problem sites when I am connected to other Internet providers (e.g. free wireless locations) only not when I am connected to my iPhone.

The error messages I get are: Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Using my iPhone as a modem I CAN connect to other web host providers, just not this particular company.

Any insight?

#4815 FileZilla dead locks files when upload of a file isn't successful on first attempts Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I am currently using 3G as my internet connection. Unfortunately it is not shaped and consistently fluctuates in speeds. This sometimes causes problems when I am uploading large files in size i.e. The client will try to upload a file from my computer to the server. Because of the file size, the upload attempt will fail. After a few tries the file will become dead locked, which in my opinion is the clients doing as it does not seem to release the file physically after an attempt has failed. It then displays a "critical error: file is in use" and it cannot upload the file after that. This actually happens quite often to me. To fix this I have to close the client and service in task manager. Please can you have a look into it.

#4816 FTP Client File Bug! Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

For several weeks now I have been experiencing an odd sort of problem. Everytime I use Filezilla to upload website page updates, the page comes up blank. It's is not a problem caused by my hosting provider since I have already been able to upload those pages via their hosted FTP Client.

Example: index.html 23kb 9/11/2009 will upload as index.html 0kb 9/11/2009. This problem is very serious because if I don't check to see if the pages uploaded correctly, then I will have sites with missing pages.

Thank you in advance for taking care of this problem.

Description

Since you've introduced the option of updating FileZilla automatically, I haven't been able to use it. Here's what happens:

  1. I get the message about a new version and click to download it
  2. It starts downloading and just when it looks like the download is completed (the green meter filling the entire download field) there is a pause
  3. I get the message: Failed to download
  4. When I try to execute the downloaded file anyway I get an error message from NSIS: "Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media"

I don't have any similar problems with any other software.

Looking forward to your support -

#4946 more than 1 connection to server Bug report blocker FileZilla Client outdated
Description

If I try to transfer files to or from a server that only accepts one connection to the server i continuously get disconnected and reconnected with the status message 421 I can't accept more than 2 connections as the same user. i think the way this could be fixed is to add a checkbox in the Site manager that disables more than 2 connections. another suggestion: you can make filezilla automatically change the state of the checkbox (permanently, not temporary) to checked when it finds at least two 421 errors per connection.

Also can someone put a move and copy function into filezilla, for working with files on the server side? thanks!

#4955 Uploaded files deleted upon upload to 0 files Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Uploading updates has become a nightmare. Reworked htm files go through the motions of uploading and appear for a moment on the remote server, and then they disappear leaving "0 files" in their place, and no other details of date/ upload as well.

I have tried various options in overwriting to no avail. I delete the blank file on the server and re-do, and fail again. I have had intermittent success.

Meantime I use the server-side software of my web host, but that will only work for HTML, not PDFs/Docs

#4963 Drag and drop to trash (recycle bin) makes Filezilla crash Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Drag and drop of two files to the trash (recycle bin) makes Filezilla crash: a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" window pops-up, see the image attached. Filezilla closes once the [OK] button is clicked. Is it possible that the previous Ctrl+X of the files (there is no Ctrl+X in Filezilla...) contributed?

How to reproduce: not sure, happened once. Then I tried to reproduce it and it worked only the third time.

#5000 Invalidating during file transfer (Windows XP) Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

During file transfer the message loop is not running enough frequently, so it looks like FileZilla is frozen because of file transfer, but it works. The progress bar refreshes only in every 5-30 seconds, or more. Resizing, moving the app. window takes long time.

It did not freeze, just does not like to communicate with the user. :-)

Servertype: FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL. With standard / simple servers works ok.

#5012 Drag and Drop Not Functional in 3.3.0.1 Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Since upgrading to 3.3.0.1, the shell extension for drag and drop isn't functional anymore. Dragging files from remote side to desktop gets a "no smoking" symbol.

Reboot didn't help.

Uninstall and re-install (triple checking that shell extension was installed) + reboot didn't help.

No error messages, it just doesn't allow drag and drop.

#5017 Download stop randomly without any reason Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi,

Since the 3 last versions (3.3.0.1, 3.3.0 and 3.2.8.1), from time time, when I download from my server (Ubuntu Desktop 8.04) a list of files, the download stops without any error message and without reason. I just do a right click, then uncheck 'Traiter la file d'attente' and then recheck and the download restart until it stops again at a later time, on the same file or not. I was unable to focus a type of file, a file size or something.

I never have this problem with the 3.2.8 and previous versions.

#5069 Port number not saving in site manager Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hello,

I am creating hosts in the Site Manager portion of Filezilla but the port numbers for some sites that do not use the default port 21 are not saving. I am having to connect to some SSL/TLS connections and they require port 990. After I manually put in port 990 in Site Manager for a site that requires an SSL/TLS connection I am able to connect but if I restart Filezilla the port number is lost and it tries to revert back to using port 21.

The verion of Filezilla I am running is 3.3.0.1. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards, Troy

#5128 Filezila client timeout. Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

With filezilla set to passive mode, a new connection to the server is created. This session will remain logged in for the duration of the server timeout setting. However, if a file is transfered during this session, as soon as the file is uploaded, we see about 55 seconds before the connection times out. For whatever reason, the time out seems to change after a file is uploaded.

#5134 Toggle processing of queue not holding Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I am running Win <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>XP</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>SP2</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>v3</font>.3.1

First of all when clicking the toggle processing of the transfer queue button on the toolbar doesn't stay depressed. Also if I double click on any local file it immediately transfers the file even though the button doesn't indicate that processing is enabled AND there is no check on the Transfer > Process Queue menu item. When there are files being transferred then both button and menu change to show that they are enabled from the disabled state. So what's the point? I would like to halt all processing and set up a transfer queue and once I'm done adding and removing files from the queue, I would like to toggle the processing and let <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> do its magic.

I would also like to export/import a queue and I'm assuming that's what the menu items do but unfortunately I can't stop <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> from transferring in time to test that.

Also if I manage to quickly hit the toggle button while it's transferring I can stop it, but as soon as I add something else to the queue it start back up on its own without any indication that I want it to.

Thank you for all your hard work. <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> is an amazing utility.

Description

When transfering complex subdirectory structures from a Linux server to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, FileZilla client leaks considerable amounts of memory, several kByte per file transferred: after 104245 files in 9000 subdirectories, memory consumption rises to 260 MByte. #5165 Password Issue Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When visiting a sequence of sites to download log files your system requires a second entry of a password despite the box to remember the password being ticked. Sequence of events -

  1. Log onto first site, download, no problem.
  2. Log onto second site, closing first option.
  3. download but one file requires second entry of password whereas the rest don't.
  4. Happens on every subsequent site visited during the session.

Also, why force users to go through several barriers to entry before they can report a bug. I have often not bothered becuase of your beaurocratic insistence on accounts. As a result bugs are not reported on time or at all.

#5184 File exists dlg: "Apply to current queue only" not working Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Download multiple files (at least two) from your server. Then, download the same files again. You will be asked how to proceed. Tick "Overwrite", "Always use this action", "Apply to current queue only".

You will be asked again on how to proceed with the conflict.

Not sure if the problem is in the "Always use this action" or the "Apply to current queue only", but it's not applying to all files...it's taking them one at a time.

Note that this did not happen in the last version (3.3.0), that I experienced. Only since upgrade to 3.3.1. I couldn't find any other current tickets for this, just some similar that were around 2 years old.

#5195 Intermittent error transferring ASCII file as binary with transfer type set to Auto Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I am running the most recent version of FileZilla: Version 3.3.1. Additional Client info is below (bottom).

I was transferring an ASCII file from my computer (WinXP) to a server (Linux). I noticed the file-size of both files (source and dest) was identical, which seemed odd. So, I verified the settings (below), and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer with the same outcome. The file-size on the client and the server was 1070 bytes.

Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Default transfer type: Auto Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Automatic file type classification: (list of file-types including txt)

Filename: abc.txt File abc.txt: 47 lines File abc.txt: 1070 bytes (DOS)

Then I changed the transfer type setting to BINARY, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. The file was written on the server with an identical file-size (as expected).

Then I changed the transfer type setting to ASCII, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file written on the server with a smaller file-size (also, as expected). The file-size on the server was now 1023 bytes.

Finally I changed the transfer type setting back to original setting of Auto, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file was written on the server with an smaller file-size (as expected). At this point, everything appeared to be working correctly, but the original failure and failed retry are unexplained.

#5219 bad timestamps handling Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi

I am working under Windows XP SP3 with filezilla client 3.3.2

I am extensively using the "Folder compare" feature of filezilla client and I am using the option to preserve timestamps when uploading files.

After uploading a file on the box, filezilla client still says that the files are not the same. There is a 1 hour difference in the timestamps.

I am connected to a remote linux box throught its sftp server

The linux box is not on the same timezone as I am.

I don't get this behaviour when I use an other sftp client like winscp so I guess this must be a bug coming from filezilla.

Thanks for looking into this

Regards,

Philippe
