Dear developer,

I have strange problems with FileZillas connection.

2 days ago the function worked fine and everything was uploaded to my webpage.

Today when I noticed that I need to do some more filetransfers to my websites (in total I have 9-10 websites) at Crystone.com it just give me error;

"530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (5) from your host are already connected."

So I have done following route cause checks;

1. Re-started FileZilla (several times)
2. Re-started my modem and router
3. Checked wit Crystone support if their servers was ok and everything was set up correctly.

3a. I have tested with log on by "domain" or by "IP". 3b. Changed user login 3c. Enter a new user on the specific domain in the Crystone Control panel.

Please tell if their is anything that I could do more or if it is a bug or error in FileZilla.

Or if it exist a instruction that explains what to do in these cases (couldn't find any at your FAQ)

I work for a division of Honeywell International which operates and supports an IBM Systemz mainframe system running the z/VSE V4.2 Operating System. We are running the latest maintenance levels of all components there. I have been using FileZilla for several years to perform FTPS (FTP over implicit TLS/SSL) transfers from my workstation to/from the z/VSE host's SecureFTP server. Recently the Honeywell Global IT Security team which approves software for use within our environment approved FileZilla V3 for use. Previously I had been using V2.2.32 and based upon the new approval upgraded to V3.2.0.

Using V3.2.0 I can not successfully get past the TLS/SSL handshake when trying to connect to the z/VSE host. V2.2.32 still works fine. I am attaching the "Debug" logs from both V3.2.0 and V2.2.32.

When I start the server, sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. There is no error message besides: error connecting to server. It keeps retrying but to no avail. Changing the server's port also does not help. How can I troubleshoot this, as sometimes it connects right away and sometimes it's impossible? Same settings, clean reboot, nothing seems to make a difference.

hello for some reason when i try to connect to my dayz server it says my ip is banned i have had this happen before trying to connect but then later it let me just trying to figure out why it keeps doing this

when i execute the filezilla it shows error could not connect to server

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install filezilla client, default settings.
2. Go to Edit -> Settings -> Transfers -> File Types
3. Select all extensions on the list
4. Click on "Remove"

If you are on Windows, it will remove only part of the list. You have to click "Remove" more times until the list is cleared. If you are on Linux (ubuntu tested) there will be an error, but it won't crash and you can continue deleting.

I can provide more info if you can't reproduce this problem.

I've a folder with files named after iso-dates (yyyy-mm-dd). Filezilla server seems to serve well for listing the first 240 (around that) files. Then it never finish the parts after that.

If I rename the file before downloading everything works fine. Any file with the same pattern fails to download.

When remote file search is initiated after connecting to a remote UNIX server; and the relevent file name is put and SERACH button is pressed : the dialog box named "Target file already exists" appears for each file in that remote directory.

e.g. if I serach for test.scr file and the remote directory has 100 .scr files; that dialog box appears again and again for each of the files.

Since, this is only a SEARCH operation and we are not transferring a file; the above metioned dialog box should not appear when we serach for file.

For the last three versions I have had a problem with the transfer queue. I was hoping someone else would have had the problem and it would have gotten fixed...

I finally figured out how and why but not how many. It only seems to show up when it transfer any where from 50+ plus files doesn't seem to matter about the size. But if the server connection seems to hiccup it will start piling up the transfers usually I do 10 at a time. Until all ten transfer spots are full or if the last 1-5 are left then somtimes I can pause them and resume. But most of the time I can't pause or abort. And then it hangs then I get the pop up error message to email you. So that is what it is doing.

Sometimes I can diconnect and that will release them or I have to shut it down and then sometimes they are still in the queue and can reprocess them. Or it really hangs and I have to use the task manager to stop it.

I get an "error writing xml file" and several others attached when I try to launch the program. Downloaded it 3X and same thing each time. Wouldn't quit. Had to force quit to move on. Worked fine on the PC.

annoying...had it happen on my previous install as well.

I have noticed that when I connect to an MVS host via FileZilla and attempt to display a listing of all members within a partitioned dataset (PDS), some of the members are missing. When I manually log onto the MVS host and browse the PDS, the missing members are there.

The one thing that all of these 'missing' PDS members have in common is that they were last modified by a batch job or outside process, not a physical user/TSO ID. For some reason it seems this prevents FileZilla from recognizing that the members actually do exist within the dataset. If I enter any of the problem members and manually save the file (thus setting the last modified user to my TSO ID) the member is correctly listed in FileZilla.

The mainfraim is running ZOS/MVS...This seems to be an issue of how FTP retrieves member lists from PDSs. It can be very frustrating and has caused me a lot of rework in the past.

Just thought I'd report this as a potential bug.

When I used fzdefaults.xml, I get 2 Group (My Sites and Predefined Sites). When I select a sites in the groupe "Predifined Sites" I get an error messages :

Could not load "", please make sure the file is valid and can be accessed. Any changes made in the site manager will be not saved.

Everything works, but if my last selection was a predifined site I get the error message at startup.

At the start and close of FileZilla I receive a dialogue box (attactehd) that displays an error loading queue.

I always keep the most up to date version of FileZilla running, and this pop-up is a real pain in the ass.

Nothing serious, but would be great if you caould have a look.

On Vista Ultimate, when starting and shutting down FileZilla 3.0.0-rc1 following message is displayed:

"Could not load 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.xml', please make sure the file is valid and can be accessed. The queue will not be saved."

Uninstalling and installing FileZilla does not solve the problem.

The path and file queue.xml are existing.

After FileZilla installation, queue.xml is 0 bytes - no entries in the file.

Removing queue.xml and restarting FileZilla solves the problem. New queue.xml is created with following content:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?> <FileZilla3 />

It is possible that queue.xml deployed with the FileZilla setup is empty instead of the expected? xml declaration line (see above).

The same error also occurred on following Beta builds:

I was running Filezilla 3.0.7-rc1 and then had a power outage. When I restarted FileZilla, I got the message

"Error loading xml file - Could not load "C:\Users\werwin\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\filezilla.xml" , make sure the file is valid. For this session, default settings will be used and any changes to the settings are not persistant."

Even after restarting Filezilla, the message still appears. I assume my filezilla.xml file got corrupted somehow. Could you make a fix that if it is corrupted, then to create a new one?

FYI, I opened the specified filezilla.xml file and it was empty - contained nothing.

The filezilla.xml file is found in the above location - the problem appears to be with the offset 9665

Hi, after update to 3.27.1 I lost all saved hosts an return the error in attach

When I try to connect an error pops up: Error loading xml file invalid xml file

I've double checked that data is correct. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, disabling my antivirus, clearing my cache, deleting each xml file in the app data and every time I get the same error.

After the download of the new FileZilla version has been started there is an error message "Timer creation failed.". The download completes successfully despite of that, but there is no progress information shown and the progress bar stays empty.

Upgrading from version 3.2.4 works fine for me. I first saw this message when upgrading from version 3.2.4.1 to 3.2.5-rc1. The issue seems to happen with 3.2.5-rc1 as well.

I have recently upgraded to Filezilla version 3.17.0.1 and now cannot connect to our FTP file server.

According to your site this error message means that the ftp/ sftp server needs to be upgraded to support a more secure key exchange algorithm.

The server is a Windows 2003 server. Would upgrading to either 2008 or 2012 rectify the problem? Or is there a Windows patch you are aware of?

We have an SSH Tectia server installed for SFTP; will this need to be upgraded also?

I get this error message after closing Filezilla

Doesn't make sense to me

The attached file shows the error message that keeps appearing it seems when I have uploaded a file, often when I move between directories. This has been happening now for the last 2 revisions of your code and I am running the latest version as I always do.

When using FileZilla, I randomly get an error message stating that filezilla.xml could not be removed, then in brackets it says the file was removed successfully. See the attached file for a screenshot.

I can't tell what causes this error - it seems to just have begun happening since 3.9.0 was released and sometimes occurs when changing directories, starting an upload, completing an upload, or switching back to the application when using something else. It appears to have no effect on the operation of the software - it's just an annoying error message that frequently appears.

During upgrade from 3.8.1-rc2 to rc3 I got the attached error message. The same message appears for libstdc++-6.dll and libwinpthread-1.dll.

Apparently, the files are in use by Windows Explorer.

If I uninstall FileZilla manually it says that a reboot is required to complete the uninstall.

Maybe the upgrade process should consider whether the uninstall requires a reboot?

Recent VCS versions of FileZilla client show a warning message right upon start which seems to be associated with crashes / core dumps that sporadically take place after establishing connections.

Both the error message and traces of the crash are attached to this report. Debug symbols were disabled, let me know if this isn't enough. The message is the same when wxWidgets are compiled against GTK 3 or 2. The crashes were seen under GTK 2 only so far which may or may not be by incident.

Seen compiling 8034 against wxWidgets from current master on Arch Linux x86_64.

When attempting to change the permissions on a directory on the remote system I get the message "Another remote operation is already in progress, cannot change directory now."

This doesn't appear if I select the "recurse" option.

It seems to change the protection anyway.

Hi!

I updated to version 3.59.0 in Windows 11, but at various times an error occurs that says that more than 20 simultaneous connections are not allowed and it is disconnected. Even changing the value in the settings. In previous versions this problem does not happen. I went back to the previous version 3.57.0 and it works normally.

I am trying to login to FileZilla and I get the following message:

Protocol error: Unknown protocol identifier (0x83 0x83 0x72). Most likely connected to the wrong port. Connection to server closed. My port should be 22. Can you see if that has changed?

I try to install the latest version of FILEZILLA. At the end of the installing process I get the message "File could not be loaded. The XML-document is not well formed. Error reading end tag."

I checked the old tickets and found that #5333 reported the same problem 22 months ago. Do you not intend to fix the bug?

I was installing the latest update from my previous version and when it was finishing, it threw a .Net error message. Unfortunately I did think to grab what the previous version of FileZilla I was using.

when i try to upload a file (an existing file) on FTP, appear the message that ask what to do (overwrite, if existing, etc.). in any case, the message appear again, and again, and the file result existing but 0 Byte dimension... i hope it's clear, thanks.

I tryed also to remove the existing file before upload, but resut is the same.

When typing an URL in the Quick Connect Address box with username only, FileZilla pops up a dialog box for password but uses it as username.

e.q. ​ftp://someuser@somehost/ is given in the Address box. While FileZilla asks for password, "somepass" is given. In this case, FileZilla connects to "somehost" with username "somepass" and empty password.

Starting filezilla.exe either directly or with shortcut generates this error message:

Users\PM\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\filezilla.xml Error reading Attributes For this session the default settings will be used. Any changes to the settings will not be saved.

As a result, the settings are dropped, and any settings entered cannot be saved. This bug appeared suddenly, without any cause that I can identify. It could not be corrected by uninstalling and re-installing, and it could not be corrected by downloading a new setup file and re-installing that. I will answer any questions that would help de-bug this. Thanks for helping.

I just updated my FileZilla client for the first time in a while (via the prompt on startup), and after that it started giving me an error message every time it started or closed the program. The error on starting was:

An error occurred loading the transfer queue from
"C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.sqlite3".
Some queue items might not have been restored.

The error on closing was almost identical:

An error occurred saving the transfer queue to
"C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.sqlite3".
Some queue items might not have been saved.

Additional information:

• The program is installed to a different drive than the folder it is trying to write to. It is located at "E:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client" and the folder it is trying to write to is on the C drive (listed above). Not sure if this is relevant or not, but you said to be verbose.

• The file did exist in the location the program was looking, and the previous version of the client could read and write to it just fine.

• The error messages stopped showing up when I deleted queue.sqlite3 and let the program regenerate the file, although I have kept the old queue.sqlite3 just in case. This means that the issue is solved for me, but I figured you might still want to know that this file isn't always compatible if you forget to update for a while and then go up by a couple versions at once.

Error sending PROT P command in Explicit TLS/SSL connections

This bug *may* be the same as 906633, 965367 and 1143883.

Symptoms: FileZilla connects using Explicit TLS or SSL connection but fails to get a directory listing.

Version: FileZilla 2.2.10 trying to connect to a RaidenFTP server.

Description: With the help of the guy running the server, we traced down the problem to be with the order of login and sending the PROT P command. In other clients like CuteFTP Pro, the client first logs in and then issues the command PROT P, which is accepted. With FileZilla, it first issues the command PROT P, which is rejected, and then logs in. FileZilla then fails to retrieve a file listing. Although then you can manually issue PROT P or PROT C commands and they are accepted, you can't still get a file list.

Configurations tried: Using port 21, this exact problem happens with both active and passive mode, and with both "FTP over SSL (explicit encryption)" and "FTP over TLS (explicit encryption)". Also tried disabling compression, which seems to have nothing to do with this problem.

Comments: Apparently FileZilla doesn't know how to handle the transfers after PROT P being rejected. This might need to be handled. Although I'm not aware of how the Explicit TLS/SSL connection standard describes the adequate process of connection, it might be worth it to place somewhere an option to send PROT P before or after the login for these kind of connections. Another option would be resending PROT P *after* the login in the case it was rejected when sent before it.

Attachment: A log with Trace and Show Listings enabled. Host details have been removed for privacy. The two last commands were sent manually to show their results after the login.

I am facing below error to connecting site entries.

Even i am able to connect same entries in other PCs & Laptop but these issue occures in 4-5 PC since many days.

Seems that there is an error in the last version 3.10.0.2

When there are 2 or more files to upload in queue, the first file is uploaded successful but the upload of second file and the others fail.

I tested upload the same files using other ftp client (Core FTP - ​http://www.coreftp.com/ ) and all files of queue where uploaded without error.

I attached a txt file of Filezilla log with the error message.

Using Filezilla 1.9.7 I try to transfer file, from local to remote server, with 0 byte length, but Filezilla return error.

When transmiting a file, if the system time is changed. The transmission rates and elapsed time will be incorrect.

The example in attach file is to set the system time 4 days before, then negative value of the transmission rates is displayed.

I m using a slow network connection that uploads file with 40KB/s

While uploading a single large file (800MB) filezilla get disconnected upon 75%. When i tried to resume it, it is again started from beginning of file.

What should i do?

After upgrading to version 3.0.5.2, I connected to a server and attempted to drag and drop a small text file from the server pane to my desktop and got the following error message: "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window." A folder was created on my desktop with the name "fz3-12003270676720".

Since I have performed this operation in the past without a problem (not sure of my previous version, but it was a very recent one) I assume that this is a bug. No trace messages appeared in the message window during this operation.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2.

I am using Filezilla version 3.9.0-beta1 and I get the following when closing Filezilla if I ever had a file open which may or may not of been already closed.

[Filezilla Error] File 'C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\Temp\fz3temp-1\empty_file_yq744zm' couldn't be removed (error 0: the operation conpleted successfully.)

This isn't a show stopper more of an annoyance, I have also added steps to reproduce.

Steps to reproduce: 1: Connect to server using FTP and Type Normal. 2: Open any file for View/Edit. 3: Close file viewer/editor with the file opened in step 2. 4: Now close Filezilla. 5: You will be told by Filezilla that some files are still being edited or need to be uploaded, even though they are no longer open. 6: Click on the Yes button. 7: Now a Error dialog pops up with above error.

This never happened in the last version of Filezilla and I always update as soon as I am told Filezilla has been updated.

When dragging and dropping folder from remote SFTP site to the Windows Desktop, I am getting the following error:

Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window.

The operation leaves a remnant folder on my desktop with a random name.

If the setting for Connection/Generic Proxy/Proxy Host has a trailing space, FileZilla does not connect. Similar to #1054.

Failure log:

Status: Connecting to example.net... Response: fzSftp started Command: proxy 1 "proxy.example.com " 3128 Command: open "user@…" 22 Error: ssh_init: Proxy error: Unable to resolve proxy host name Error: Could not connect to server

Working once proxy name fixed:

Of course there may be other parameters as well that don't strip trailing spaces. It's a minor issue, but took quite a while to diagnose.

I recently replaced a Serv-u 4.1 ftp server by fzs 0.9.24, and since have some troubles when the 'store unique' mode is on. I got a syntax error when I try to put a file on the server. I've tested with different file types, it is not the root cause.

If I type SUNIQUE again (to set 'store unique' to off), then I can put files as usual. So the problem occurs only when SUNIQUE is on. I read somewhere that STOU command was not yet implemented in filezilla server, but since the SUNIQUE command is available it should be ok now ?

Just started receiving an error 'The associated command failed' when right clicking a local file to edit once the file had previously been edited opened via FileZilla. I would expect to see the message like "This file is already open for editing..". This behaviour reoccurs without success.

I have a file on my desktop called ÅÄÖ.txt. When I transfer this file to the foreign FTP site it's working OK. I then deleted the text file on my desktop. But when I drag the succesfully transferred file from the FTP site back to my desktop it creates an error. See log.txt for details. I also attach the actual file with swedish characters in the file name. My version of the Filezilla Client are 3.2.3.1. I tried the manouvre on both Vista and Windows 2000 Advanced server.

I'm running Filezilla 3.7.1.1 on Archlinux with the libgnutls 3.2.2 and can't download any file on a FTPES enabled server.

I have tested with LFTP and gnutls 3.2.2 and it works, then I have rollback'd the gnutls lib to the previous 3.2.1 version and filezilla also works.

I have attached both client and server logs at the debug level.

The latest version was automatically downloaded this morning (3.3.4.1).

When I log onto a remote site, highlight a Winzip file, right click and select View/Edit, I get the attached error messages.

It's something I've never had a problem with before so I double-checked by downgrading to version 3.3.3 and I can view a zip file without error.

hi, whenever i try to open a new filetype with any programe like NotePad++ but it starts to show error, to fix it i have to go to Edit > settings > File type association and have to define each rule in new line.

by default the filezilla is adding it in same line which cause the error.

Solution: filezilla has to add a new line \n after each new rule to make it fixed.

While copying Filezilla shows an copy error, saying that a file already exists, however, this file is inside file bulk i'm transmmiting. Also it sais it could override the previous file with another with the same name; but size are different and the original file size is right.

Hello, I got the message, that a new version is available and followed the instructions. But FileZilla could not receive the update file, because there was an error : ECONNABORTED. I attached the log information.

We cannot see the .htaccess on some FTP server. On the FTP Server of ​http://www.olympe-network.com/ I see the .htaccess with Adobe Dreamweaver but not with FileZilla.

When I try to set an Active mode IP address, I get an error message saying "Associated program not found".

When I check Filetype associations, I see the following:

Does this imply the installer has a bug?

Filezilla cannot navigate into a directory that has a space after its name. For example, if a directory is called "Gross Margin "(notice the space at the end), Filezilla gives a "No such file or directory" error since it seems to parse the space out of the directory name.

FileZilla operated correctly when the space was removed - ie from "RT cycles 1.csv" to "RT cycles1.csv"

Hope this message finds you well. I have been using your software for many years to manage my website without any problems. However, after updating the ftp client today, I get errors pasted below. Hello, I was uploading a folder with some files and after having tryed to upload some other files I closed the program. When I opened the program again it showed this message below. On my machine i have associated ftp links to FileZilla. When i click on any FTP links it is giving critical error. It happens only when the username/password has special characters like below.

I have been unable to connect to my Yahoo server for the last 3 or 4 days. I have checked my password, and it is correct. I installed the latest version of Filezilla today and I ma still getting the same error. Directory listing fails when connecting to Globalscape’s SFTP server v 3.3.0 other sftp clients work fine with same account. Contacted Globalscape support and was informed that their application is functioning as designed and that the problem needs to be resolved by Filezilla. Upon further investigation I discovered that this problem started with Filezilla version 3.1.0, versions 3.0.9.3 and before work fine.

I am trying to GET a file from a remote FTP site to my local hard drive by dragging and dropping the file from the right pane to the left pane. The transfer works fine on regular file names in the exact same folder that only have normal English characters in them.

However, the filenames that have French characters in them are not transmitted because the foreign symbols are confusing the parser and turning into question marks (?).

How can I transfer these files with French characters in them?

I keep trying to log in on the website and every time I try to connect it just says Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of activity and could not connect to server. I'm unsure how to fix this.

with FileZilla 2.2.14b it is not possible to get a directory listing - Error: Could not retrieve directory listing.

Contacted Yahoo support... They indicated they suspect Filezilla has a bug, because they have received many calls this past week where customers are no longer able to FTPS to manage their small business hosting. Suggested contacting Filezilla support... This behavior is the exact same from any of three different servers I have, on three different networks, at 3 separate locations... Note: I also have another hosting account with different credentials that also will not connect, from any location.

authentication is the same as my mail account, so I have confirmed many times that the account works for mail...
