I am having a problem with multiple trojan attacks to files unloaded through FileZilla. Multiple checks have been done on my computer files for the contaminated files with no problems showing. But after I upload it through FileZilla it seems to be becoming contaminated. Can you check this out on your end? I am receiving multiple alerts on the uploaded files. When I ran pest patrol I found a slew of new spyware (on a machine that had been reinstalled the same day and not surfed the internet yet) and 4 trojan horses. Please get these out of the installer so we can use your wonderful program!!!!!!

The summary says it all: if you delete a directory on the remote side, the directory contents pane will update, but not the directory tree, resulting in a very confused FileZilla. Refreshing directory listings does work around this issue.

I posted in the forum but seems no replies.

It happened when I was downloading a one-level dir with some (about 40) pictures. The transmission simply stalled in the middle of a file. More accurately, the stalled files are put to the end of the queue with "too many retries". The error message in message log window is "timeout". I repeated this operation several times. Sometimes it is OK while sometimes it stalled again.

I am running it on a Win2000 professional. Installed without admin previledge. The server is Serv-U ftpd 3.0 with no timeout settings.

FileZilla transfers only first 8192 bytes. The progress bar is stuck and does not progress (shows 32% in this case). No errors are generated or reported. Tiny files (I am assuming < 8192 bytes) transfer just fine. I am using SFTP port 22.

I have 84 Folders and 12 sub folder in each Folder. I need to transfer 5 files to each of the folder and sub folder is there a way to do this ?

When transferring a PNG file to a linux webserver, the PNG files lose 1 bit of data, making them corrupt. When transferring other image files, no corruption takes place.

I am trying to transfer files from a windows 2k pro platform to a unix system running proftp v1.2.1. The files that I am transfering contain spaces. The application does not seem to recognize this and does not quote or escape the spaces when the remote host (unix) assumes that a space is a inter-file seperator.

Ie. the file "this is a test" would look to unix as four files "this" "is" "a" "test". as a space is considered part of the IFS. To get around this the client needs to do some custome parsing if it finds the remote site is a unix host. (ie, escaping the spaces, or converting them (user definable?)).

I was trying to transfer a MSI file (TEST.MSI) to my web server. After few seconds or minutes FZ will no longer be able to establish the connectivity to my web server any more. FZ is trying to connect to my web server several times and ran into a time-out.

Just viewing on my web server without transfering data to it works fine.

I'm using the latest FZ v3.3.2.1

I assumed my web server has a problem, but with pure FTP from command line the file could be transfered successfully.

One year ago I had the same problem with FZ and this could be fixed by installing an update as this was available.

I stored my clients photos as individual files on my web host linux server and I have over 20000 files stored in a directory called Photo. I wanted to transfer these photos to my desktop but I found out Filezilla could only list 9998 files out of over 20000 files. What do I do?

I am using Latest FileZilla 3.2.2.1. I transfer a file and the same file in place of getting transferred 1 time, keeps on getting transferred again and again.

I use the SSL mode with explicit encryption. I noticed that files transfered with that version are truncated (a few bytes are missing). I can't confirm that this is the case with non SSL transfers (didn't try). The transfer was OK with version 2.1.6a.

There is no visible indicator of the transfer type: ASCII or BIN.

I love Filezilla but the only thing I miss is a quick way to change transfer type. I'm constantly changing between ASCII and Binary and don't always trust the Auto setting.

Right now I need to go up to transfer > transfer type and select. I would be nice to have a right clickable icon with the selections right there or three separate buttons.

It works fine downloading into my intranet, but always stops just at 32Mb downloading files through a proxy.

When downloading from an FTP server that enjoys disconnecting frequently, FileZilla will attempt to retry the file. When it's "had enough" the transfer status will indicate "Transferring" but nothing is actually happening. I can reconnect to the FTP server, however the transfer status doesn't change. If I right-click on the download job, my only option is "Remove from queue" and "Move Up/Down." If I choose "Remove" the job doesn't get removed from the queue and the status stays at "transferring." Closing and reopening FileZilla is the only way to clear the status.

I noticed in the "Queued files" window the transfer speed rapidly fluctuates. Which is real, because network connectivity does change. But could it be averaged? Normally for such an average transfer speed we do the following.

1. Take average after first 2 seconds.
2. Recalculate average every 5 seconds.

I have tried use client version 3.9.0 and 3.9.0.2, server is FileZilla Server 0.9.45. During transferring, CPU usage is <10% (2.6Ghz).

But FileZilla client in a Windows PC works fine when connect to the same server, the speed is > 1MB/s.

I have set "overwrite if newer" but after i restarted FileZilla setting is not saved... every time FZ ask me what to do if file already esists on server... May be It's me.. but maybe not !!! :-\

I am trying to connect to a server that must be in active mode due to the firewall. I have changed the transfer setting from default to active. FZ during the connection sends a passive mode command to the server and then I get dumped out. We have verified all the settings for the transfer, but when the passive command gets sent the connection fails.

Whenever I start FileZilla (running version 2.2.24b), I have to adjust the size of the columns in the "Transfer queue"-window part.

But although I've set FileZilla to remember its settings, the Transfer queue *never* remembers about the widths!

This is quite annoying, so a bugfix would be greatly appreciated!

I noticed a display problem, very minor, in the transfer queue window. When there is a file transfer in process, there is a line a few pixels high not being refreshed correctly. It reflects whatever was behind FileZilla at that moment. However it is only seen when a file transfer is occurring. The queue windows redraws correctly when there isn't a file transfer. I notice this since my FTP's can run for hours.

Looks like bug 636100 is back:

"When FileZilla is started again, the size of the pane decreases."

But this time, it seems to only happen in certain conditions which I haven't been able to isolate myself but have seen it happen a number of times since 2.2.1a was released, and not with 2.2.1.

As you can see on the attached screenshot, the content of the underlying application is shown in FZ's transfer queue.

This *only* happened to me, after I changed the transfer queue's column-width, switched to another application and then back to FZ.

If you don't know what I mean, look at the screenshot, for example above the red-slashed letters. ;)

Transfer queue seems to have a hard limit of items to queue. I tried to download about 600,000 files in about 2000 folders from a ftp server. Drag all the folders on the server to the local file tree. FileZilla would queue up only about just under 64,000 files and refuse to queue more. Furthermore, after the files are queued up, it does not automatically process the transfer queue. You have to check menu "Process Queue" for it to start processing queue. Could it be the counter of the queue item is a 16 bit integer - just a guess?

Hello, I've been using FileZilla for a long time now, and I love it and recommend it to all of my friends, so first off, great job! I appreciate the work you've put into FileZilla!

Just a little thing here - when I download several large files at once, typically, the file queue fills up to the point that I have to scroll, and I want to keep tabs on the progress of the files being downloaded, so I grab the resize bar dividing it from the upper 3/4 of the program, and drag it up so more queued files can be seen, but the progress bars all disappear, and I can't see the progress of any of the files any more. I can get it back, I believe by starting a new series of downloads, but with big files, I like to know how long they'll take to download.

The height of the transfer queue is increased from where I left it every time I start Filezilla. I started out on 2.2.3 and am currently using 2.2.9. Every version has done this.

I'm using Windows XP and am downloading the binary installers.

My layout has the toolbar at the top followed by the message log. Below that I have the local tree view, local file list and remote file list rendered as 3 columns. Under those is the transfer queue and then the status bar.

It seems that each time I close Filezilla, it edits filezilla. xml and changes the following line:

<Item name="Last Splitter Pos" type="string">95 513 273 109 602</Item>

It reduces the second value by 27 each time, so if I started FZ open with the above line in the XML file, it would change the 513 to 486 when I closed. Next time it would change 486 to 459 etc.

This is a very minor problem but quite annoying because the columns keep getting shorter and shorter and I have to adjust them a couple of times per day :)

When processing a large queue of thousands of files, the process will often get stuck after transfering the first 4096 bytes of a file. The process can be manually unstuck by stopping and restarting the processing of the queue.

The header control for the transfer queue list view sometimes fails to paint correctly. To reproduce:

1. Start filezilla (no items in queue)
2. Dismiss site manager dialog
3. Maximize application
4. ALT+TAB to another application which is not

maximized (alternatively do start->run and run CALC).

5. ALT+TAB back to filezilla.

When I do this I see that the header control disappears either totally or partially. If you put the second application so that it covers part of the header control then alt-tab back to filezilla I get the portion of the header control that was obscured repainted, but the rest remains blank. This does not appear to occur if something is in the list view.

I have noticed a problem when I move files from a workstation on the network server, the data transfer will stop frequently when there is no longer one second remaining. This arrest may take up to 90 seconds, but usually shorter period of Time. If I transfer files from the server to the workstation so the same problem does not exist. Why?

Client and server are on the same home network (192.168. ...) And the number of simultaneous users is not.

Hi there When I transfer files If i put the window in the background the transfer pauses until i switch back to the filezilla window. If i switch away long enough the transfer fails and moves to the Failed transfers tab.

During a backup transfer (server to client) of about 3181 files always the same jpg files wont be transferred, most likely because they include German umlauts and special characters like ü and ß.

But downloading each of these files directly without using the queue succeeds. So something is not working when using the queue.

Windows, version 3.7.4.1. Imagine I attempt to transfer/upload 20 files to my FTP site (not FileZila server). My FTP server supports 10 connections. I set the transfer to support 10 connections. Sometimes, the server fails with code 530 (see log below).

Bug is, when that happens, it doesn't attempt to re-try file upload.

I have attached a log file. In is it the initial attempt to upload the files. Then, there are 2x more attempts to upload the files that didn't initially transfer.

I understand that the retry logic is tricky. However, the minimum it should do is -- at the end of the transfer, it could show a dialog saying something like "7 of 20 files failed to transfer".

First of all I would like to congratulate you on the great work you have done. I have a small proposal for a feature enhancement you might like to consider.

In the file transfer settings, you can now set the total number of concurrent connections. It would be nice if you could set how many connections you can make by server.

For instance, you could be able to configure:

Transfer up to 3 files at the same time Maximum number of connections per server: 1

The reason is that many ftp servers limit the number of connections from an IP address, so that many times you cannot actually use the feature as it is implemented now.

FZ opens with previous transfer list positioned at top.

When starting a new transfer, it looks like nothing happens because the list stays at the top, and does not scroll to the bottom where the new started transfer progress bar is visible

Files transfer from my computer to the server but do not appear on the online website. Updated to current version of Filezilla. This worked a month ago.

When you scroll with the mouse in the "Queued Files" transfer window, the graphic bar (green percentage thing) doesn't scroll properly, and it sort of screws things up.

I'm on filezilla 3.1.2 (using the ubuntu package from the repository).

A file is transferred from a TSO system to a Mac and back again. The file has format LRECL=80 RECFM=PS BLKSIZE=3120. The target dataset for the transfer back to TSO is preallocated with the correct attributes.

The contents of the returned file are not in the correct order.

This has started happening since the Mac was upgraded to BigSur.

When transferred using SFTP to the USS file system the order is correct.

GeeXbox's bftpd will return 421 if CWD folder failed. FileZilla will retry to CWD always.

This patch will try to use MKD command even CWD get 4xx code.

My downloads do not start in the latest versions of FileZilla when I select files in folders which contain special characters in their path name (i.e. ä - a with dots on top etc.).

This worked in previous releases.

As per summary, tasted on Gentoo Linux amd64 with filezilla client 3.1.3.1 and 3.2.0

Hi, i installed FileZilla Client 3.9.0.2 from the filezilla Screen today After Installation all of my Uploads failed with error message after reaching 100%. Filezilla shows an smaller target file size, perhaps 4096 but 1.566.348

Then i used another pc with an older Version of filezilla. After Connection I found the uploaded file with the full size on the target device. The file was OK.

Trying to transfer this filename from a KISS DP 558:

P06 Kanal 5 - Tor 05-06-2008 18:55:00.vob

Creates a file in the target directory on my PC called:

55 (no file extension)

Oddly the file explorer inside FileZilla lists the file name as 55:00.vob (see attached screenshot) but windows explorer shows the filename as mentioned above. Either way it pretty wrong though :-)

I guess it must be related to having : in the file name somehow

FileZilla Client V3.3.4.1 The transfer queue displays different columns with captions/headings such as Direction, Remote File, Size, Priority, etc. When any caption is clicked the corresponding list below doesn’t get sorted in any order. I do not know if a sorting functionality exists for that section or it's a bug - will be extremely useful if exists; example: to select files larger than a certain size/direction/location and set specific priority to them. Also, in other sections such as the directory tree, we are able to sort in either ascending or descending order but there is no option to remove sorting i.e, a third neutral option that removes all applied sorting order or just follows default MS windows style.

When Remember size and position of FileZilla is enabled under Edit, Settings, Interface Settings, Miscellaneous settings, and Transfer Queue is enabled under Startup settings, the Transfer Queue window does not remember where it was last set. In fact, regardless of where it was last, the transfer Queue window covers two thirds of the screen covering the local and remote directory listing, which are completely covered if local and remote Treeview is enabled. I have duplicated this problem on 3 different computers.

The "Transfer Queue" pane collapses whenever you minimize the program. You have to resize it to see it again.

When FZ is in tryicon (and downloading files Q->), Transfer Queue list (at the bottom) lost when I shutdown windows.

Issue: headers do not sort

Expected results: click on headers of transfer queue and the list should sort on that column

Actual results: click on the headers shows a mouse down, but list does not sort.

In FileZilla 2.1.2, when "Remember Windows Size and Position of FileZilla" is checked, the transfer queue pane displays an odd quirk.

When FileZilla is started again, the size of the pane decreases. Upon each restart of the program, the pane gets smaller and smaller until it is no longer visible.

None of the sort tabs work, either by name, direction, size, or priority. It would also be nice to right click "pause" or stop. Not just stop and remove or unprocess queue.

It would be great if FileZilla 3 could notify me when the uploading or downloading of my Transfer Queue is complete. Personally the playing of a sound file would suit me nicely, however this might not suit everyone. So could I suggest some options:

• play default sound file
• play other/specific sound file
• execute external command
• flash window on task bar (Windows only?)

The reason is I often have large downloads running while I do other things. So an audio notifcation of completion would be fantastic.

Here is how to produce the error: I) Set the configuration to remember window size and position II) Maximize the window, and then close FileZilla III) Open FileZilla, and look at the transfer light icons on the bottom right of the window. There are incorrectly positioned as illustrated in part "1)" of the attached screen shot IV) Click the "Restore Down" button (illustrated in part "2)" of the attached screen shot) V) Click the "Maximize" button (illustrated in part "3)" of the attached screen shot) and the icons are now correctly positioned.

Now sure if *hang* is the right word but I've been experiencing hangs or jams in transfers when using filezilla to transfer files from my local sun ultra60 server into my PC (Win3K SP2).

The proceedure that i use is to drag a large number of files say 40 or more from the remote window to the local window. Files vary in sizes from 200K to 2MB (max).

The transfer begins fine and transfers the file quickly. But after a number of transfers (the exact number seems arbitrary) the transfers in the queue slow.

A couple of seconds go by and then I get a dialog box saying that the file that I am trying to transfer is on my system already, has a size of 0 bytes and do I want to overwrite, skip, etc....

In some cases this continues for each file in the queue in other cases the connection seems to *wake up* again and transfers begin again.

Messages in the log window when this happens are:

command: TYPE I Response: 200 Type set to I. Command: PORT xxx,xxx,xxx,81,9,25 Response: 200 PORT command successful. Command: RETR ASIN_one_seismic_u32 Response: 425 Can't create data socket (xxx.xxx.xxx.67,20): Interrupted system call. Error: Download failed

I can sucessfully transfer the same files using other programs between these two systems (windows ftp, ncftp(v3.1.4), and cygwin ftp);

If I drag and drop smaller amounts of files 5~10 I haven't run into this, It only seems when I queue a large number of files 40+.

1. Enable speed limits
2. Exit Client
3. Restart Client

The menu item is not checked but speed limits are seemingly enabled. Selecting the menu item will not set check on. Selecting the menu item again will set check on.

A function I truly miss (I need it at work) is the ability have a function that lets me transfer files and convert filenames to lowercase or uppcase on the remote host (today I have to script it on the server ... )

When using "SFTP using SSH2" to transfer an ascii text file to a Unix server the file ends up with ^{M at the end of every line. It does so even if I set the Transfer Type to "ASCII" on either the Transfer menu or the default settings.}

It seems that if a Timeout is detected during a transfer of a file the consol still thinks the file is tranfering and does not allow you to reset the transfer. The only way I can see to fix this is to exit and reopen the program.

Using FileZilla 3.3.0.1 connecting to the popular FTP server vsftpd, we cannot access directories with trailing spaces.

Reading the changelog of 3.2.8rc1 suggested this has been fixed, but it is not.

Digging in deeper in all the tickets revealed that the server needs MLDS support, which vsftpd does not, so this has not been fixed for this case.

I downloaded a remote folder with a trailing space in it´s name via context-menu. Downloading was fine, but I wasn´t able to delete that folder with Windows Explorer ("Datei kann nicht gelöscht werden: Die Quelldatei oder vom Quelldatenträger kann nicht gelesen werden.").

Deleting it is only possible by deleting the parent folder via command line with "rmdir /s test".

Hiya,

Our webserver has been running Filezilla Server for some time now without any problems. Just recently, however, one of our clients has requested that we provide anonymous FTP access for their site. I would VERY much like to use Filezilla for this except that I would be unable to differentiate this client's traffic from our own.

Is there any chance of adding an extra field for each log entry, which is the amount of data transferred?.. Or even for each file that is transferred would still be extremely helpful.

The problem come from new version FileZilla Server.

I am using Filezilla 2.2.18 under Windows XP Professional English version.

When I tried to access a remote site (which supports UTF-8) containing folders in traditional Chinese, I cannot read the correct text (all become question mark).

If I start Filezilla using Microsoft Applocale and choose "Simplifed Chinese", I can view the correct text (in traditional Chinese).

I believe that it is only a minor bug about codepage conversion which could be fixed in the comming release.

Can we get a tool to count the total usage at an FTP site? I use comcast, and they limit me to 2 GB. However, they have no way to tell my my usage. So when I try to put something on their site, they truncate it to keep me below the 2GB limit. Since I maintain several folders, I cannot tell, using FileZilla, just how much storage I have used.

The only thing keeping me from adopting FileZilla as my FTP client of choice is the lack of a total file progress bar (most other clients I know of have one). I tend to download multiple files at a time, but FileZilla only shows %done and time left for each individual file (not the whole set). Having a separate area (or perhaps a tab) that contains a progress bar with %done and time left of the current file + %done and time left for the whole set of files being downloaded currently would be a big benefit and would make sure I tell everyone about FileZilla :)

a new user can only guess what the GUI buttons do. I recommend to add tooltips to the buttons.

It was suggested that I take these suggestions which I wrote out in the public forums, and put them up individually in the Tracker. So, here I go - 9 feature requests, all individually posted.

#2 - Tooltips, rather than just status bar text for buttons. Either that, or more descriptive buttons (like the "selective text" mode on manywindows apps nowadays.)

Some tooltips for buttons on the toolbar and in the settings dialog would be great.

The toolbar does not display when connecting to FTP. Only when moving the mouse over the toolbar area do the icons partly appear and that's a crap shoot as well.

Yes, I'm fully aware that you've rejected this problem umpteen different times now from umpteen different users, claiming that the fault is with Intel's graphics card - I AGREE AND WISH IT WERE OTHERWISE. Obviously, Intel isn't going to "fix" something on their end just to accommodate your program anymore than MS would "fix" their OS for your program either. How about doing all of us who are having this problem and would like to continue using FileZilla a favor and swallow your pride, take the highroad, actually demonstrate that you know more about programing than the idiots at Intel and at least look into a fix on your end? Pretty please!

I've been using FileZilla for many many years and would really like to continue using it, but that's impossible to do if I can't read what's not there - the menu bars. Please give us loyal users a break just this once. I don't want to look for another FTP client. Yours is the best and the I promise the next time I buy a laptop, I won't buy one with crappy Intel graphics.

When connecting to any of the sites in my connection list the toolbar icons disappear. I have been checking to see if this problem has been fixed in the new releases but have not seen anything, not knowing if you know about it I thought I would let you know. I have attached a screenshot to show you how i see it. Thank you very much I use this software every day keep up the good work.

I just need to connect and the toolbar get into this (screenshot annexed - the red lines are mine). When I mouse hover the icons appears again, but the space between them not.

I use the Zune-Desktop Theme from Microsoft on Windows XP, but the Toolbar of FZ3 stays on a different color (see Attachment). Maybe the color of the Toolbar is not linked to the correct windows-elment-color.

This is one feature of LeechFTP that I use frequently.

Usually "auto" works, but occassionally I want to

force an ASCII transfer of a file type that I don't want to always transfer ASCII (like ".doc", for example). The "Transfer Type" menu is nice, but toolbar buttons would be even nicer.

After a while (?), the Toolbar buttons become bigger, but the Toolbar's size remains the same, so the buttons are visually cut off at their bottoms.

It has happened to me numerous times.

I will attach a screenshot later when it happens again. Unfortunately, I don't know how to reproduce it manually.

Problem:

In Win XP, toolbar background color is a gradient going from lightgray (extreme left) to darkgray (extreme right), like Internet Explorer one.

But when changing the width of the main window (by dragging its right or bottom border), this toolbar background doesn't repaint itself properly.

Solution (very easy):

Put the following class styles:

CS_VREDRAW | CS_HREDRAW

in the first parameter of AfxRegisterWndClass() in mainfrm.cpp.

It would be very nice if the toolbar and quick connect bar could be on the same line, like Windows does with toolbars in Explorer and Internet Explorer. On high- resolution screens there is a lot of wasted space next to the toolbar, and the QC bar would fit in that space just fine. As it is now I don't even display the QC bar because it takes away valuable space in other parts of FileZilla.

When a saved website is opened with Site Manager, the toolbar buttons disappear. Some of the buttons reappear after mousing over them. This is a problem with 3.3.1 and 3.3.2-rc1.
