#11410 Version 3.28.0 fails on Ubuntu 16.04 with libpng16.so.16 Other low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I have downloaded and installed the latest FileZilla version 3.28.0.

Unfortunately, it crashes on startup. The error message reads:

filezilla: error while loading shared libraries: libpng16.so.16: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I tried installing libpng16-16 (libpng12-0 was already installed), and the error message changed to:

filezilla: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.22' not found (required by filezilla)

As libstdc versions 5 and 6 are already installed, I don't know how to proceed. In the meantime, I have fallen back to version 3.27.1.

Thank you.

#11411 Version 3.28.0 Prevents FTP Uploads Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Using Safari 11.0 running on macOS 10.13 when attempting to upload files to my site I get a 530 validation error for my p/w. This did not happen previously with version 3.27.1 nor does it currently so I am not updating until this bug is fixed.

#11381 Version 3.27.1 Fails many File Uploads - says 1K file is 822,202 bytes and Timeouts. Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I am using the latest version of Filezilla - downloaded last night I have a problem updating WordPress to 4.8.1 I'm using Filezilla to upload the unzipped folders & etc. In the 'includes' folder, I find about 1/2 way through, I get transfer lockups that last 20 seconds, causing the agent to drop out and then automatically log back in. The file size of the locked up files is always 822,202 bytes. (attached example is only 1Kb - so the error is in either the latest Filezilla, or in my Server VPC FTP. I sent this report to my Server and he says no issue their end) I shows a 'failed file transfer' and it looks to me like those files don't upload. Is it me or is there an issue? I logged as admin at my blog www.chrisdcorran.com and that was OK I went to the Site and it was OK. I'm worried I am corrupting about 1 in four files... Files are attached:

FileZilla_3.27.1_win64-setup_bundled3.exe /S

This doesn't appear to work for the 64bit version on Windows 7 - the default install begins - where Licence agreement ect. is required to be clicked on 'Next'.

I have tried the exact same /S with an earlier version on the same machine - completes perfectly

#4837 Version 3.2.7.1 Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I have been using FileZilla 3.1.10, since May of 2008; I have recently updated the version 3.2.7.1. I have noticed that when I have multiple programs open when running the new version, my entire system crashes. It will take about four or five times of unplugging the computer to get it back up. Also once I do get up and running, I right click the file, and Download and Add files to queue, I use to be able to click on to start the file downloading.(it is now grayed out) Now I must select View/Edit to start the file downloading. The file does download but is not going to where I originally had pointed. The file being downloaded has a different filesize than what is actually being downloaded.

#10578 Version 3.12.0.1 for Windows not recognizing folder entries Bug report high FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I just upgraded to the new 3.12.0.1 release and discovered that it does not recognize folders in the server file listing as folders. It only shows them as files and tries to download them when double clicked on. The only way to access the folders is if you have the Synchronized browsing on and have the same folders in the local computer.

#10292 Version 3.10.2 Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

When attempting to upload using FileZilla the server access does not list the directories. Unable to list directories is the error. At first I thought it was my problem then discovered after the update from my older version (3.9.0.5) is when the problem began. I rolled back to the 3.9.0.5 version and the app began to work correctly. I now ignore the prompt to update each time it loads. I have other clients that use FileZilla and I recommend to them not to update until further notice about this problem being solved.

#10002 Version 3.10 on my iMac with Yosemite does not connect Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Version 3.9.0.6 .has been working just fine. I updated to version 3.10 on my desktop iMac (about 1 year old). Now when I connect to my ftp site using Site Manager nothing happens on the right hand side - it simply says Not connected to any server, If try again using Site Manager I get "FileZilla is already connected".

I've gone back to the previous version so I am able to keep working.

Thank you for your support for this fine product.

#4034 Version 3.1.5.1 (and 3.2.0) won't list directory but 2.2.10 does. Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Here's a weird one. A site that I haven't visited using FZ for a while (I have a program that does automated download from there that works fine though). Today I connected using FZ 3.1.5.1 and it showed the remote directory as empty. I tried passive, active, force show hidden files, all with the same result. So I went to another machine on the same network that hasn't been upgraded from 2.2.10 yet, and it displays the files fine.

Debug logs are attached, grateful for any pointers.

#48 Vers 1.7 & 1.7a n/g on Win2K Tim Kosse Bug report high Other
Description

Versions 1.7 and 1.7a of FileZilla crash immediately upon startup. Error msg says a log is being generated, but none is actually created. Going back to 1.6 cures the problem, so some specific incompatibility between the 1.7x code and Win2K must exist...

#3170 Verify Post-Upload Bug report normal Other
Description

When I transfer a large directory with thousands of files, I inevitably get a handful of zero-length files scattered throughout. My current workaround is to use the command-line FTP client (I'm on Windows XP) to "ls -lR" the entire site, then grep the results for zero-sized files, and upload those individually.

I would like to see an option in FileZilla to verify the size of each file after uploading, and retry the transfer on disagreement between the local and server versions.

#4954 Ver. 3.2.8.1 Drag and Drop to shell disabled Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Hi there! Thank you for providing a valuable and highly useful piece of software.

Just recently, I updated the program (version 3.2.8.1) and found that drag and drop functionality from the FTP file navigation pane to the windows shell was disabled. To clarify, when I try to drag a file to my desktop, my mouse pointer turns into the "unavailable" icon (circle with a line through it).

I've rebooted the pc, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, enabled the shell extention, modified my registry (according to the forums), and read through the existing tickets as well as the forum, and no solution has been identified as of yet. I can still navigate to the local folder in my left file navigation pane and download from there just fine. It's merely a matter of convenience.

Thanks for any & all help! I've attached my fzshellext.txt log, as recommended in the forum.

Yours, Chad

#8313 Ver 3.6 upgrade from 3.53 GnuTLS error-15 Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I just upgrade from 3.53 to the current 3.6 Before the upgrade I could connect to one of my ftp sites, after the upgrade with no changes in site manager I get the error below.

This was an issue from 3.52 to 3.53 I believe (which I fixed on my server by a few certificate changes) What do I need to do to fix the below. This gets very tiring when the security scheme keeps changing over and over again.

#2402 VMS optional inclusion of version number Feature request normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

There should be added some OpenVMS (or in general server system) support. E.g. a file on OpenVMS X.TXT;5 should be copied to x.txt and not to x.txt;5 on Windows. Only WS FTP supports this feature.

#2852 VMS optional inclusion of version number Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Transfers from VMS to MS Windows in version 2.2.32 stripped the version number from the file name (e.g. ABCDEF.GHI;2 -> ABSCDF.GHI). Version 3.0.5.2 retains the VMS version number. I prefer the version number be stripped from the file name, but an option to either retain or strip the version number would probably be best.

#616 VMS listing has garbled filetype Bug report normal Other
Description

Display of VMS server information has garbled FileType information. The filetype, for example .TXT, is displayed along with the file version. Probably would be better to display the fill filename including the version and a "proper" filetype. However, I personally would be just as happy to have the version information completely ignored and have only one of a file, the highest version, be displayed.

#12095 VMS directories sometimes shown as files Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

On access, directories are correctly shown as folders. In some occasions however, directories are shown as files, but with correct extension (.DIR) and version number (;1). Security, ownership etc are the same for all directories. Debug log does not show this; Image 1 shows the correct type of information, inmage 2 shows files that are actually directories but are shown as files.

#611 VMS connection doesn't work Bug report normal Other

This is my root directory and there are a lot of files and directories. An "ls" from Windows FTP shows lots of files. Occassionally I see garbled VMS directory info. The debug file I have attached shows another version of the "Directory Cache".

#107 VMS Directory Tim Kosse Bug report normal Other
Description

Hello,

I found 2 Bugs concerning VMS:

1) When I want to change the remote directory to somthing like "W:[XXX]", then text ist changed to "/W: [XXX]/" and the directory listing fails.

2) The Version information within the VMS filenames (fname.ext;1 fname.ext;2 ...) is stripped and so I get several files with the same name.

#316 VC++ 7.1 can't compile DirectoryCache.h (2.1.7) Bug report normal Other

#500 VAX compatibility Bug report normal Other
Description

Hi,

We have an ancient VAX cluster that still operates some vital equipment. Data is retrieved via FTP. The VAX runs a very ancient FTP program that does not support many modern features like passive mode. To date, it remains the only machine with which Filezilla will not work. Filezilla manages to log on to the machine, but fails to get the directory listing. The VAX returns an error.

Is this a bug in Filezilla? Or do I have to make some changes to the program? I have tried many things in settings, but no combination has been successful.

I am running version 2.2.1a.

Thanks.

Payam

PS Both the client and server are fabulous programs. I love them both. PM

#9808 V3.9.0.3 not connecting on windows 8.1 machine Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When I upgraded to 3.9.0.3 (using the update feature within the program so should be a legitimate update) connections failed each time on the two separate FTP servers I connect to (see files). IF I uninstall 3.9.0.3 and re-install 3.9.0.2 (I kept both install packages on my machine) the same servers work fine and connect with no problems. This is a repeatable fault as I have now switched between the two versions a number of times and BOTH sets of settings in the Connection Managers appear to be identical in both versions of the software.

Description

I was wondering if there was any way to connect to an IBM MVS OS mainframe with Filezilla. In IPSwitch's WS_FTP, you have the option to choose operating system.

The current version doesn't appear to work because it auto-adds the forward slashes in the directory name. The mainframe doesn't like that. Any information you could provide would be helpful.

#6191 Using WinRAR? Forget FlieZilla, try FireFTP instead (Firefox only). Faraz Choudhry Other normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When trying to Open or View/Edit WinRAR archives from my local h/d and from my remote homespace. I have never had such problems with previous versions of FileZilla, only the latest version. I first get:

Cannot open folder C:\l

...flashing twice and it opens Windows XP's zipper in a seperate window. Then I either get:

DDE execute request failed: a transaction has failed

...or something like: DDE execute request failed: a synchronous execute transaction has timed out

I end up having to drag my remote archives to a seperate Windows Explorer window to use them. Defragging and error-fixing my h/d has not helped. Can this please be fixed before I lose confidence in this program? I'm setting the priority to high, accordingly.

Thank you.

#4804 Using FileZilla while using my iPhone as a modem (one problem company - others fine) Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

There is one web host provider that I cannot upload anything to any of the sites they host while using my iPhone as a modem. I have contacted them and they are baffled by this issue and they too would like to know what the problem/solution may be. I have no problem uploading anywhere else (other sites and web host companies). It is only their clients sites that I cannot upload to.

I CAN upload to these problem sites when I am connected to other Internet providers (e.g. free wireless locations) only not when I am connected to my iPhone.

The error messages I get are: Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Using my iPhone as a modem I CAN connect to other web host providers, just not this particular company.

Any insight?

#3998 Using BINARY mode transfer even though ASCII is selected! Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I’ve been using FileZilla successfully until I upgraded to version 3.1.5.

Despite selecting “Auto” or “ASCII” for the file transfer mode in teh FileZilla menu FileZilla version 3.1.5 always transfers the file in BINARY mode! A sample of the output is as follows:

Command: CWD /cgi-bin Response: 250 Directory successfully changed. Command: TYPE A Response: 200 Switching to ASCII mode. Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode Command: RETR hits_out.txt Response: 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for hits_out.txt (5749 bytes). Response: 226 File send OK. Status: File transfer successful

As you can see FileZilla switches to ASCII mode but transfers the file in BINARY mode! I feel this is a major bug with the software.

Please could someone investigate as I would really like to keep using FileZilla but the software as it stands is incapable of transferring in ASCII mode without corrupting the file.

#3119 Uses 2 connections when the maximum is 1 Bug report normal Other
Description

I used Filezilla to connect to my private FTP site, which does not allow anonymous logins, so you will not be able to use it to test this problem unless I set you up with an account. If you do need me to do that, please email me at stephen@….

I have my FTP server set up so that it has a restriction that only permits one connection per IP address, so I set the option in the site settings for Filezilla to use a maximum of 1 simultaneous connection. It logged in OK, and allowed me to browse the directories, but when I tried to download a file, Filezilla attempted to open a second connection to do the download, and it was denied by my FTP server which sent this:

421 No more connections accepted from 203.97.46.10, try again later.

each time. Filezilla continued to retry until I told it to disconnect.

I verified that my FTP server was working correctly by using NcFTP to get the file I wanted.

The following is a copy of the Filezilla log for the session:

#3885 User-Agent header in HTTP proxy Feature request normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

When using "Generic Proxy"->"HTTP/1.1 using CONNECT method" the filezilla client does not send the "User-Agent:" http header as described in http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2616#section-14.43

Our proxy server (squid) is configured to block empty or non-existent User-Agent(s) and Filezilla is unable to access the outside world.

Tested on Filezilla Client 3.1.3.1

#1981 User profiles Feature request normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Filezilla is a very cool file transfer application but it seems to lack a feature surprisingly trivial: user profiles. All users share the same bookmarks that are stored in a system wide configuration file. On my home PC there are two users and this is impractical to find my own bookmark mixed with the other user's ones, figure it in a more etherogeneous environment like scools, universitie or offices... IMHO it should be better and *safer* having them stored into user's document folder (it can be found, for example, by inspecting USERPROFILE or HOMEPATH environment variables), and eventually check for a common configuration file (for default values or shared bookmarks) into Filezilla installdir or more consistently, into the path specified by ALLUSERPSROFILE environment variable.

Then tried to import my filezilla.xml --> same error but then it says: import done , after restart ... I restart but that did not made any difference.

Think for more than one & 1/2 year it was running fine , update after update but now looks like I will have to insert all sites again becuase right now I cannot even ADD any site for it keeps returning the first error: cannot open ...

#1737 User authentication - Filezilla Server Daniel Stone Feature request normal FileZilla Server outdated
Description

Hi, I'd suggest an improvement to Filezilla Server's user management. It would be nice to have separated:

Authentication (which is a general matter):

  • Integrated with: local machine accounts/LDAP or

Active Directory - Database

Authorization (which is specific of the application):

  • Stored into Filezilla server or database, with infos like:

quota, virtual dir etc..

Thanks for any interest, and keep up the good work!!

#12757 Use the following host Bug report normal FileZilla Server worksforme
Description

In Filezilla server 1.5.1 the field called use the following host (leave empty to use the default one) doesn't appear to be working correctly. I believe that before version 1 that field was the Get External IP. When trying to setup a passive FTP session I get an error back that server sent an unrouteable address. It sends back an RFC1918 address. When I try to paste in the original http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php I get connected but I get errors on the client that it cannot prepare for the data connection. If I enter in my dynamic DNS name in that field I get the same result. The only way to get it to work is to put in my public IP in that field which is a dynamic IP.

When I go to http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php I get an error NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

You cannot visit ip.filezilla-project.org right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.

Aborting" msgid "Login sequence fully executed yet not logged in. Aborting." msgid "No command given, aborting." msgid "Received a line exceeding 10000 characters, aborting."

#4097 Use of setenv() is not portable Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

In the FileZilla Client 3.1.6 code, src/interface/locale_initializer.cpp makes a call to setenv(), which unfortunately not every platform has (my example is HP-UX 11.11). To fix this in a somewhat kludgy way, I took the gitsetenv() routine from git's compat/setenv.c and put it in locale_initializer.cpp (I had to cast the malloc() call in the gitsetenv() function to (char *) as well). Whether there's a more elegant solution, I'll leave it up to you (e.g. you could test for setenv() in configure and #ifdef HAVE_SETENV or something, but you'll still need some code for your equivalent setenv() call of course).

#2442 Use multiple connections per file while downloading Feature request critical FileZilla Client
Description

Use multiple simulataneous connections per file while downloading. A comparison of Filezilla v/s DAP reveals that Filezilla's speed is extremely slow as compared to DAP. I am sure that the reason behind this is that DAP uses multiple simultaneous connections per file being downloaded.

I would give this the highest priority for Filezilla from whatever I have seen from Filezilla.

#541 Use multiple connections doesn't remember settings Bug report normal Other
Description

It seems possible to change the "Use multiple connections" tab from the Queue menu _or_ the "Edit/Settings" menu.

When transferring one file from a queue with "Queue/Use Multiple Connections" disabled, go to to edit settings and "Use Multiple Connections" is still enabled.

Clicking "OK" causes "Queue/Use Multiple Connections" selection to go active and start up a second connection.

#1580 Use more than one ftp proxy Feature request normal Other
Description

I work for more than one customer and I have to use a different ftp proxy for each one. Is is really boring and prone to mistakes changing the settings each time. The ability to use a differnt proxy for each connection would be usefull in my case. If the effort is small and enough people are interested it would be a nice inprovement :-)

#11927 Use more memory to reduce drive load Feature request low FileZilla Server rejected
Description

Currently when I am uploading a large file, FZ server seems to spin up the drive, load one chunk/packet into memory, close the file, upload the file and then repeat. It does this a 2~3 times a second until the file is finished uploading (perhaps several hours later). This is a waste of power and needlessly wears the drive (in the case of a physical drive).

I would love if you could buffer significantly more (many megabytes) into memory to avoid this.

But... obviously pretty low priority given that it sounds difficult to code for the amount of visible payoff. Think of it as helping the environment? For my case use alone it could allow at least one drive to be turned off/spun down several more hours a day.

#2893 Use individual theme.xml files instead of global themes.xml Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

To make theming of FileZilla easier something else instead of one global themes.xml file should be used. FileZillla could, for example, instead look for *.xml files in a resources/themes directory and load everything from there.

ATM you have to manually edit the global themes.xml file which makes creating standalone themes more difficult. (For example within package management systems.)

I think there should be a way to use the Windows default program to view, and possibly edit, files, without redefining all my associations in the options box or resorting to cryptic hacks like "cmd /c". For example, I would use an image editor to edit pictures, a text editor to edit text files, etc. For more info, see my forum post at https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1315941&forum_id=68109

#924 Use Of Source Port 22 On Non-Secure FTP Data Connection Bug report normal FileZilla Server
Description

I'm using FileZilla Server 0.9.9. The first active mode transfer I initiate behaves normally: the data connection is made from the server to the client with the source port of 20. While that first transfer is running, the next transfer fails, as follows: The initial data connection packet is sent from the server to the client with the source port of 22 and a random destination port (typically set with the PORT command). But the return packet, which has a destination port of 22 because that's what Filezilla chose, is blocked by our firewall because we do not allow traffic on the SSH port (according to IANA, at http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers). I shouldn't have to open a port in our firewall (even for just established-connection traffic) where a known service might be running.

Here are Filezilla logs for this scenario; I'm using the Windows command-line FTP client.

#976 Usability: Remote / Local paths + wrong slashes Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Detail: It's 3am, you're tired. You use the edit control to alter your current location on the Remote site, but accidentally use a \ where you should have used a /. Luckily, Filezilla knows what you mean and converts it to the right slash.

When you begin to rely on that behaviour, it's extremely frustrating to attempt to do the same in the Local site control. You enter "c:/foo/bar/" and get an annoying warning.

Severity: Minor annoyance

Explanation: User relies on one behaviour which is inconsistent in other areas, causing frustration.

Solutions:

  • Path box automagically swaps slashes
  • Path boxes (everywhere) are like a browser's location

bar, and facilitate something like tab-completion - not just for past entries into the box, either.

#910 Usability: Pausing transfers / File List Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

It is difficult and frustrating to pause an upload / download over a set of files.

Steps:

  1. Begin a transfer with small files [ ~ 20kb each, ie,

webpages ]

  1. Scroll down
  2. Select multiple files [ more than 20 ]
  3. Pause.

Expected: Filezilla lets me pause the files I selected and doesn't mess with the UI.

Actual: I can't maintain the selection I had, because as soon as one uploads, the list recenters the view - despite me being in the middle of selecting things. I lose the highlighted files I had and have to start over. I can't select a lot of files at once. I can't sort the list, despite clickable heading buttons [whcih would suggest i could]. I get frustrated by having to select 5 files, pause them, unfocus them, select 5 more. I cannot pause a collection of files if any of them are already paused. So, if I highlight ONE file that's already paused, I can't change the other ones. The same applies if a file has messed up during transfer [ I can't pause failed files ].

Solutions: These bugs make it unpleasant to use filezilla because I'm wary of making a mistake, dropping in the wrong directory to upload. If this area was *bigger* by default, and did not move when I had my mouse in there AND let me set states that are already set [ie, ignore those items], I would be a much happier user.

#9858 Urgent! Latest versions not working with latest Mac OS!! Bug report critical FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

On launching the past two or three versions of FileZilla the top menu bar of the program is not visible. There is no way to "drag the window" to make it visible. It is somehow being blocked by the system menu bar, therefore there is no way to "quick connect."

This must be a compatibility issue with the very latest Mac OS because I don't have this problem on another machine that has not yet been updated with the latest OS.

Also, "component" select menu (below this window) was not allowing me to select the component, which I believe is "client." Seems to work when previewing the ticket.

#1602 Urgent Dialog Box connection timesout Feature request normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I like FileZilla in the background, but I need an "Urgent Message" dialog box to pop-up to the front, when the connection timesout, or file/que download finishes.

Timeouts need a complete fix (see other's recommendations), but an optional dialog box would reduce my surprise that I had not noticed timeouts.

0) Dialog that pops up to front of current app on top. 1) Make ONLY optional! (but useful e.g., 650Mb ISO downloads, select "urgent message" dailog box) 2) If the FTP clears status and reconnects after a e.g., 30 second wait, clear the dialog box, to avoid thousands of boxes. 3) Don't spawn a new dialog box each time a problem occurs, 1000 dialog boxes is a hassle. Create one, and update it if need be. e.g., "Connection timeout: 7th timeout on 3:30:23s PM, Tuesday, April 23, 2002."

and best yet, "Download complete: 7:32:41s PM, Tuesday, April 23, 2002"

#7875 Upper and lower case problems in FileZilla and OS X Bug report critical FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I notices a huge bug in Filezilla 3.5.3 (and older) when using it on Mac OS X: If you edit two files with different capitalization FileZilla get's confused and in worst case it overwrites the wrong file.

  1. Create a Test.txt and a test.txt in different directories (A and B) on the server
  2. Write click on both files and chose "View/Edit".
  3. Edit Test.txt and save it.
  4. FileZilla notices the change and asks if it should upload test.txt in A and then it asks again if it should upload Test.txt in A. So afterwards you have a test.txt and a Test.txt in Folder A.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce how it overwrites the file but it clearly happens as my style.css and Style.css got messed up two times! And as you can see with the 4 steps I described there seems to be a problem somewhere.

AFAIK the problem doesn't occur in Windows!

#1319 Uploads to FTP server are converted to one line Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hey, when I upload a file to my FTP server using File Zilla the entire file is converted to one line. I used another FTP software to upload to my server and the other FTP software uploaded fine. When I uploaded my file with File Zilla, I downloaded the file, and every part of the file was on one line.

#3268 Uploads of 300kb files failing Bug report normal Other
Description

I'm having trouble uploading files that are approximately 300KB in size. I've tried with FileZilla 3.0.0 and 3.0.1. A 350,555 byte file stops uploading with a server disconnect after 37%. After disconnecting, FileZilla usually won't reconnect, but when it does the same issue repeats and the upload fails again at the exact same point.

Smaller files upload fine and the ~300 k files upload fine when using FileZilla 2.2.25.

The attached log shows an attempted upload which failed, a few automatic reconnection attempts which failed, and finally a successful reconnect with the upload failing again.

Operating system is WinXP Media Center w/ Service Pack 2.

#11751 Uploads going to wrong folder Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

The attached log details a full upload of 577 files...

You can see one example of an incorrect placing in the log line: 2018-09-24 12:59:37 7140 5 Command: local:T:\!!!\sample\dir01\d1d01\d1d1d1\d1d1d1a\f038.txt => remote:/home/example/sample/dir07/d07d11/d7dbd2/f038.txt

#12373 Uploads and downloads failing with 3.52.x Bug report high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I have been using v3.51 and earlier versions to upload files to a server running SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_7.4 to support sftp/ssh file transfers.

since updating to v3.52.05 (and also with 3.52.2), I have been unable to upload or download files from the server. It appears to write and then I will see an error that the file transfer failed, and then when it retries, it brings up the overwrite dialog to try to overwrite the file I just uploaded or downloaded - the file that is on the server after the initial upload is 0kb in size.

Trace:	DuplicateHandle failed
Trace:	CControlSocket::ResetOperation(2)
Trace:	CSftpFileTransferOpData::Reset(2) in state 4

I have been able to workaround by downgrading back to 3.51.0 for the time being.

It appears that for both the 3.52.2 uploads and downloads, the following message appears after the put/get command respectively:

Attaching files with the debug logs for both upload and download in each version.

#435 Uploading via Network not possible Bug report normal Other
Description

I have eg. on X: a Network drive mapped. I connect to my ftp site, change dir. Then try to upload a file from the Network-dir to the ftp-dir.

I see there is on the ftp-site the file somehow created, but only with 0 bytes len. And additionally I receive error that the 'local file 'X:....' could not be opened. Upload failed'.

When uploading it via DOS command-line, this works. Uploading from the local drive works also fine.

#2323 Uploading to write only directory Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I would like to be able to connect to a write only directory and post a file there. e.g. folders that are intended for upload only that don't let user see the contents of that folder.

I can do this w/ other ftp tools but Filezilla seems to want to get a directory listing before it will upload a file.

#7287 Uploading problems with encryption (Linux only) Bug report high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

This log is anonymized. Size of cloudy_violet.JPG is 833,949 bytes. Filezilla 3.4.0 client (Linux) with encryption (Require explicit FTP over TLS).The connection timeout is nonsense. The FTP server is the last one which is sending an ACK and is waiting for Filezilla to do something - checked with wireshark. Without encryption, everything is working fine under Linux - but with encryption see this log. Only max. 180,224 bytes per session possible. Firewall was not active. Filezilla 3.4.0 client under Windows Vista is working flawlessly (with no encryption and encryption, too).

#1019 Uploading multiple files bug Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

This bug has started to occur alot lately and is very quite annoying. What is happening is if i try to upload 2 files at the same time sometimes those files are named incorrectly.

For example I have 2 files, File1 and File2. If i try to upload these to at the same time. The contents of File1 gets saved as the file name of File2 and the opposite for File2 contents saved as File1.

This has occurred on several WinXP SP2 machines and even on Win2K, and doesn't matter if i'm uploading to a windows or a linux server. Most of the files i upload are graphics or text files for website (ASP,PHP,JSP,.NET, etc...)

#3700 Uploading mp3 file hangs after first 200kb Bug report blocker FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Trying to upload a 20MB mp3 file to this server with Filezilla always seems to hang after the first 200kB. I have been using FTP Commander for several years, uploading a file like this to the same site every week without problems. I have tried to use various versions of Filezilla (3.0.7.1, 3.0.9.3 and now 3.1.1.1) because I would prefer to use Filezilla if it would work. But it never does. It always hangs up when trying to upload these large files. I can upload small text/html files, but it always hangs on the large mp3 files. Below is a copy of the log, connecting to the site, changing to the "Services" folder and then trying to upload the mp3 file. I used the debug=verbose setting. Rob Doerksen

#8020 Uploading files doesn't overwrite Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Whenever I try to replace my index.html file and attached folders and such from updated ones in my documents folder, they don't overwrite.

The overwrite window gets brought up, I always pick: "Overwrite", and it doesn't replace it because the file size stays how it was before the file transfer.

I've tried uploading it to the root folder and then moving to the public_html folder but nothing works. Actually what I've noticed is that initially when it's uploaded, for a split second, it replaces, then the file size goes back to normal.

Even removing the index.html file and going to the site in my browser still seems as though the index file is still uploaded when it's not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

#3830 Uploading file removes ALL carriage returns screwing up files Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Im kinda just about to give up with filezilla :( doesnt happen all of the time but 60% of the time when i upload a php file that ive just edited using the left click edit or left click open save then upload pops it over to the server but all the code ends up on one line completely screwing up the php because all the code after the comments is classed as comments, tried many work arounds and it doesnt work.

To make things even nicer, sometimes when i open files from the server they have an extra line or 2 between every line of code, whats happening? this has happened on the latest 3 versions ive downloaded.

Cheers guys / gals :)

#4665 Uploading file after remote renaming disconnects Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated

When I connect to a FTP site and I start with remotely renaming a file FILE1.TC to FILE1.TC1, immediately followed by uploading a file called FILE1.TC, the connection appears to have been lost.

#909 Uploading buggy and unreliable Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I upload large amounts of files (especially larger binaries), I constantly have transfer errors and after a while critical transfer errors. It makes uploading a real pain and takes enormous amounts of time and monitoring. Also, in this process some binaries get corrupted, leading to hosts of other difficult to debug problems.

I use 2.2.14b against a Windows 2003 IIS ftp server.

Kind regards,

Marc

#65 Uploading after timeout Tim Kosse Bug report normal Other
Description

When I have gotten disconnected from a server (because of a timeout or any other reason) and then tell FileZilla to upload a file it tells me that I got disconnected, but nevertheless it puts the file into the Queue with the status "Transferring". From this moment on uploading and downloading does not work at all, because the file I chose to upload is the top task of the queue, you can't delete it from the queue or reset its status, and it never starts (or even finishes) to upload. The only solution then is to restart FileZilla, the file remains in the queue, but you can reset or delete it then

#5506 Uploading a file via drag&drop fails Bug report blocker FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

When I drag&drop a file from Windows Explorer or from FileZilla into the remote directory, I get this error:

Status: Starting upload of C:\1temp\typo3_44_cssx.png Error: Failed to open "C:\1temp\typo3_44_cssx.png" for reading Error: File transfer failed

The correct path/filename would be: C:\1temp\typo3_44_css\x.png

Problem: The last backslash in front of the filename is missing. Upload via context menu works fine.

FileZilla 3.3.4-rc1

#10246 Uploading a file again and again Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected

Description of problem:

#5516 Uploading Files altering path names Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated

#20 Uploading EXE 1.5 Timeout Tim Kosse Bug report normal Other
Description

I've tried uploading, from within FileZilla, the FZ1.5 Setup EXE to two servers and it gets to 100% and finishes with timeout. This has happened consistently on both servers about 2 tries each. I loaded up 1.4 and uploaded the same EXE and it worked fine.
