In Filezilla Server interface, report on windows title/caption the conneci IP. Example 127.0.0.1 for local server, or remote IP for remote server. This for rember witch server are connect to admin interface.

A nice feature would be to have the ftp program connect to the last user connection automatically when the program is opened without having to click any of the site buttons on the tool bar.

It would be nice to have an option to let the program to connect to the default site on startup, rather than bringing up the site manager and pressing "connect" each time.

As a somewhat naive user, I found that I was picking sftp using ssh2 to do my transfers, and the connect was failing to a server set up in a very vanilla default manner. It took me a while to find I had to set the port to 22. In other programs (for example, PuTTY), the default port number changes based on if you pick telnet or ssh protocol, though you can subsequently change it.

The simplest fix would be just to put a text note on the screen like "use 21 for default ftp, 22 for default sftp." But I'd prefer that the transfer type come first on the screen, and the port changed properly to match, though the user could then tab to the port and change it for non-default situations.

I have searched the forum and the answer given is not answering the question. It's just an added extra step to setup for each item in the queue.

Please don't label this a duplicate. This deserves a real answer.

The Request, Please make an option under settings for standard sounds for actions. Not something that needs to be setup each time.

In other words, Please make away for the users to apply a sound to Connect, Disconnect, transfers failed & success etc....

The sound option is a Very Useful item. Especially when many things are setup in automation and by hearing a Error sound you know something needs attending.

I just installed FileZilla a few hours ago.

When I start FileZilla server, it stays at

I disabled Windows Firewall and restarted computer but that did not fix issue.

As of the recent update to 3.9.0.1, when I connect to a site, my screen goes black and windows reports that the display adapter has crashed. It then comes back on with FileZilla not as the window in focus, but still open and I can push/pull files at that point. If I click F5 to refresh a directory listing the same thing happens.

Every time I try to connect to my host to upload files to my database, it always either stops responding or it says "Critical Error: Could not connect to server." This is really annoying! Please help me!!!

After fiddling ..a lot!.. with the S3 connection and site settings, and having successfully connected to official Amazon S3 buckets, I cannot manage to connect to a Linode Object Storage S3 provider which works completely fine using the s3cmd tool. There is always a 403 user access denied error. I tried rotating my access keys and various ACL and permission settings to no avail.

If anybody else has managed to use FileZilla with Linode or another third-party S3 provider, I would appreciate a tip. They recommend the CyberDuck client, which is not supported on Linux.

When connecting to an FTP server running on z/OS, I cannot change directory using Filezilla. Running Cygwin's FTP-client, it works fine.

I enter FileZilla with Host (ftp.acilballetto.com), my user name (acilballetto) and my password. The answer, after correct user authentication (331 User acilballetto.com OK. I am using Filezilla server to host multiple ftp connections. We have had a problem lately with no one being able to connect. All of our clients are getting 421 Socket Errors. Most of them have no issue with using Filezilla client but using any other client it fails. Can you please help.

When connecting to an FTP server using TLS, the connection hangs before retrieving the directory listing. Connection is direct (no firewall). I'm using Filezilla 2.2.6. A zip file containing two logs is attached; 1 log from an unsuccessful attempt to connect using Filezilla, the 2nd from a successful connection attempt using CuteFTP 6.0

I was in the process of adding a huge site to the Queue. So I went to the root site and right-click "Add to queue". The process runs.. and since this is such a huge site, I let it run over-night.... Sometime during the night, the connection is broken and my queue is populated, but not with the whole site. In fact, it's very difficult to know when the process has even finished.

May I suggest 1st and foremost, a queue for the queue, so if something happens, I can re-load my last task and pick up where I left off.

Also, a message box that tells when my task is done, so I know it has completed 100% sucessfully.

FileZilla is not connecting to my server.

Is it possible to have an option to connect only with a SSL connection that can be "Authentification SSL" or "Implicit SSL" ?

I used latest version of Filezilla client, but i have found one problem in my one website where login connection is established but stop in file directory listing and shows error like "Failed to retrieve directory listing". I tried to passive mode, and also tried to set 21 port. but could not success. But when i tried to connect with another software ws_ftp_pro, i could connect. Why i can not connect with filezilla ?

Every Time I try to connect - it says that is connecting to the server. Then it times out. And as I understand as soon as the connection is made - the right side locates the remote site - so I could upload & transfers file. Is that true? Can anyone help with this issue?

I'm trying to use Filezilla version 3.14 and most times that I try to connect to my server it times out and I'm unable to connect. If I try repeatedly then sometimes that will give me a connection but not always. Sometimes I have to wait a half hour or so and try again. I still usually get the same timed out problem but after repeated attempts it will connect.

I have had to go back to version 2.2.22 in order for the connection to made easily.

Hello- I cannot connect to the server 135.179.0.218 port is 10021 I have been trying to connect for 2 weeks and before I left on my maternity leave I was able to connect just fine. Ever since I started using Filezilla I can't remember how long ago, it has failed to draw the window in exactly the same way in every subsequent release. I am now taking the time to file this ticket because it is becoming a nuisance

Filezilla client sometimes disconnect in background when not in use. Then, when I want to change a directory, it detects that the connections have been closed and doesn't retry (but I've set it up to reconnect in the options).

Then, I have to manually connect again, manually go to my directory, and so on.

In short: the connections close but don't try to reconnect and simply abort. It should automatically reconnect in this case and continue operation.

I donwloaded FileZilla Server 0.9.41 and tried it on two different Windows machines (Windows 7 and 2008 R2). Connecting to the server did not work, neither with Microsoft Windows ftp client nor with FileZilla Windows client. When a connection attempt is made, server sends back to the client some binary garbage starting with characters FSZ (or may be FZS) and then non-ASCII.

When I use FileZilla 3.0 (and 3.0.0-rc3) to upload 30 - 45 MB files to my web server, the connection gets dropped every 10 minutes. I click on Quickconnect and the file transfer continues. I called my web hosting company and they thought FileZilla was the problem. Today I transferred a file to the same server using a different client (FTP Commander) and it worked fine. My connection was never dropped.

A tech support person at my web hosting company tested the same transfer using an old version of FileZilla (2. something) and it worked fine. I wanted to let you know.

Description of problem: Cannot connect to the OpenSSH server on Fedora 33 due to recent crypto-policy changes with using standard RSA-4096 keys (curve25519 works).

I can also reproduce this issue with FileZilla on Windows 10 and even in PuTTY client.

Something is amiss with the latest release 3.10.0 of FileZilla. I have always downloaded and installed the latest version. Today when I did that, FileZilla stopped working. Can you let me know the fix, or point me to somewhere that I can download the previous version? I am still running the previous version on my backup laptop, and FileZilla works on that one. Ever since that last 2 updates I've been unable to connect to any remove hosts. I keep getting similar failures. For some reason it times out retrieve the directories. I've tried 2 other FTP clients and they resolve with no issue.

I used FZ before with no problem. Since I changed computer and downloaded the latest FZ version I can no longer connect. I tried to connect to both of my sites with no success. I had changed the passwords to both the administration sites but my old FZ connected with the old (default) passwords. Now I tried to connect using both, old and new passwords but to no avail. I get different response for each site connection attempt (see the screenshots). I also tried to find answers in the internet to those problems but didn't manage to resolve the connection problem. For the second site (uniek-vakanties.eu) the login credentials are correct, I checked them myself (screenshot). But when I enter those credentials to the FZ, I still get the Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity Error: Could not connect to server message (second screenshot)

I resolved the second site's login problem s well. I tried to login myself and worked fine (screenshot). But when entering the same login credentials into FZ I got the same response (screenshot). Therefore the problem is not in the login credentials but elsewhere.

It clearly state that a connection was establish after I put in hosting ,username,password . There are files in the local site but in the remote site it say file name , Then it say not connected , Therefore I am not getting the files I am expecting . Several of us in our office upgraded to the latest and now it won't connect. I can access our Web/FTP server through Dreamweaver, a trial version of SmartFTP and Windows Explorer with no problems. I tried to uninstall FileZilla with RevoInstaller and tried to install an older version number that I know is working on another computer. No luck though. It still won’t connect for some reason, even though it works just fine on the older version on the other computer??? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version, no joy. I have turned off all firewalls on both client and server, no joy. I have made sure our IP is not in the banned list, it's not.

Connection retry count and delay in settings would be nice. Nice work, anyway.

The only thing I have found missing in FileZilla is a way to save the connection settings to a file.

I have lots of connections, and it would be great if these could be exported. That way I could quickly give these to another person, or back them up and restore them easily.

There already is a way to export interface settings to an XML file, but not the connections.

since v. 3.25 (in 3.25.1 the behaviour is the same) it is not possible anymore to connect to FTP Servers through a FTP proxy.

When you try it, FileZilla shows the messages "421 InterScan VirusWall FTP address missing '@'" and "Could not connect to server".

A downgrade to 3.24.1 solves the problem immediately.

It's logged in successfully but 95 % times it's got failed to retrieve directory listing. The problem was not available till version 3.9.0.6.

Connecting to a particular server which does not respond immediately may cause the client to terminate the connection prematurely.

This is the error :

Error: Timeout detected! Error: Unable to connect!

Using another FTP client which allows me to configure the connection timeout, the connection succeeds after a while, longer than the timeout tolerated by the FileZilla client.

A longer timeout should be hardcoded or made a configure option.

With all 3.3.x series FileZilla, i get a connection timeout at the end of a large file upload. Files have to be >1MB. It is always at the end of the file. It happens with every large file.

With ver 3.2.x, this is not a problem. I downgrade to 3.2.4.1 and it works ok, upgrade to 3.3.2.1 then i get timeouts again. This is why i believe it is a bug.

I only upload to 2 servers. Happened before i reformatted and reloaded Windows as well. Log files are attached.

Usually I use filezilla to delete the large (+- 20 GB each file) daily backups on the server. So when I choose 20 files (eg.) and press DEL to delete them, it starts to delete, but after some time it shows the "Connection timeout when delete many huge files". Due to high disk IO on server the action is slow even on direct rm command on linux.

Since updates from last few months FileZilla has been unable to connect to my web page

The Web page providers acknowledge that other FileZilla customers are experiencing the same problem and suggest I move to CuteFTP.

When the client is started automatically from another program, using command line options to specify the server, the client will not limit the number of connections to 1. When connected to a server that supports only 1 ftp connection at a time, no file transfers are possible.

This worked in client V2.2.32 (but this older version had other issues). When i use the ServerManager as a test, i can limit the number of connections to 1, then everything works, but this is not a solution, i cannot use the ServerManager for all possible automatically connections.

When I connect to a Serv-U FTP-Server and use the ftp over SSL (imlicit), I get no files and directories on the server site. I can put files and make directories, but they are not shown. I use V. 2.28d.

The only apps that MIGHT block it are my firewall (Fritz!Protect, part of Fritz!DSL-software), PeerGuardian or my router (Fritz!Box 7170) itself.

Though, none of these apps reported problems (FZ 3.0.0-beta1 listed as "allow connections from this app" inside Fritz!Protect and PeerGuardian doesn't show any blocked connection attempt).. Also, using the latest *stable* FZ, I can connect just fine..

The program still works for my own website. Alamy says that they haven't changed anything at their end. I have changed nothing at my end.

I use FileZilla on Windows as well and I really like the connections drop-down menu from the toolbar button. I love that FileZilla works on Mac, however, it would be nice to have that drop-down menu on the toolbar for connections to quickly connect to various servers.

Currently running the version below. When opening the program it states a new version is available. I install the new version, reopen and it states a new version is available. This is continuous. Even though the info says the version is current when I go on your site to get help it tells me I am running an outdated version. Is there a way can fix this repetitive issue without losing all my connections in Site Manager or do I have to totally uninstall and reinstall?

we are a web hosting company and we ve been having a lot of clients who are still using WWW when they try to reach a FTP conection and as a result they get a error conection. I dont know if this is a problem that is just happening with us because sometimes they think the problem is on our side.

So as a feature request we would like to know if there is a chance to add a validation or a pop-up window to alert the client that is using a wrong name server because of the WWW.

I'm uploading a bunch of JPG-Images, Compressed and resized properly by IrfanView. As the bunch (about 50 pictures) is uploaded, my Gallery-Programm often gives Errormessages, because the content of the pictures is scrambled. This happens just sometimes, about 5-10% of the Pictures. Usually two parts of the picture are switched. (Examplepictures in Attachment)

As I reupload the Pictures, everything ist fine...

I am using Windows 7 and haven't tested this under other operating systems. This happened to me with stable release 3.7.3 and a build I did tonight from SVN.

When using the right mouse button to bring up the context menu in either the local or remote directory tree controls in FileZilla Client, if you drag from the highlighted folder over one that isn't highlighted and release the button, the non-highlighted folder will be the target of the context menu that pops up. Worse, if this happens with a remote directory and you choose to delete the directory, the warning dialog that comes up doesn't give the name of the directory to be deleted.

I took a look at src/interface/LocalTreeView.* and src/interface/RemoteTreeView.* as well as the wxTreeCtrl source from wxWidgets 2.8.12. The event handler for a context menu event in LocalTreeView/RemoteTreeView is passed a tree item ID by wxWidgets that corresponds to the current mouse cursor position when the right mouse button is released. ​This is apparently standard behavior for Windows, so it seems it's up to FileZilla to accommodate it.

I'm attaching a patch that solves the issue for me. It adds an event handler for right-button drag that sets a boolean variable to 'true' to indicate (when the button is released and OnContextMenu() is called) that the context menu should use the currently selected tree item instead of the one passed to it by wxWidgets. If no drag occurs, the variable is false and the context menu will use the tree item passed by wxWidgets. The variable is reset to false after each OnContextMenu() call.

I thought it might be sufficient to have OnContextMenu() always use the selected item instead of the one under the mouse pointer, but if that is done it does not find the correct item if a different folder than the one currently selected is right-clicked.

Often I upload a file, and then need to send a link to someone. It would be quite nice if I could right-click on a file and have an option in the context menu to copy the full remote path to the clipboard.

Prior to 3.3.3, right-clicking on a local file used to open that file for editing with the Custom Editor I had specified in "Edit > Settings > File editing > Default editor".

This functionality only returned after I selected "Edit > Settings > File editing > Always use default editor"

Why is Filezilla constantly damaging pdf and swf and even animated gif files. Those files will not play or show when uploaded with Filezilla. This is going on for quite a while now, no matter wether you are uploading as ASCII or Binair or automatic.

When i use WinSCP the files arrive o.k. at the ftp server.

When moving between tabs using Control-Tab on the keyboard, it will get to the last tab and end, as opposed to going back to the start like Firefox behaviour.

It is a problem when i tranfer files from a AIX til Windows that Filezilla don't convert "end of line" from AIX/UNIX mode til Windows Mode.

I want use this produkt, but when i must transfer files from AIX/UNIX til Windows and the other way, I use other products that can do this converting.

Convert filename characters that would be illegal on the destination platform to some other character. For example other ftp packages rename the file, converting ":" (colon, in the source filename) to "_" (underscore, in the destination filename) when transferring to DOS/Windows, which does not allow ":" in a file's name.

Currently, when I use this package to transfer such a file, the destination filename is truncated at the point of the invalid character and the file contains 0 bytes. The package claims the file was transferred successfully, but it wasn't. So this is also a bug.

Rename files, converting characters that would be illegal on the destination host to acceptable characters.

As an example, when transferring a file whose name contains ":" (colon) from unix to a PC running Windows NT, FileZilla truncates the filename just prior to the colon and writes no bytes. It also claims in the status window that the transfer was successful. (I've reported this as a bug.)

Simply converting all such illegal characters to "_" (underscore) would be ok, since that is what some other FTP clients do. If you want to go a step beyond that, you might allow the user to specify the character to use or even allow a mapping table.

It would be handy to auto-complete the Default local/remote directory in the Site Manager when the user selects "Copy current connection to Site Manager".

Currently this must be done manually - and since the Site Manager dialog is Modal - you must close/re-open it twice to copy/paste the local/remote default directories.

Is there no way to copy a listing of the files in a directory to a text file or spreadsheet? There is frequently a need for me to manage, sort, compare and so on, files within my directories. I realize that they can be "clicked" and the filename copied one at a time, but that's really time consuming. I'm really surprised that there isn't such a feature. Especially since I've seen others asking for it.

I would like to see the possibility to right-click a file in remote to copy its URL to clipboard (eg ​ftp://user:pass@ftp.example.com/pub/myfile.zip)

When i select multiple files to copy the URL from, only the first one is copied to the clipboard.

I think a function who permit to copy the url of an ftp's file in a http link would be nice for Filezilla. Exemple : A friend want to see a picture that I have on my HDD. I upload it on my ftp, and when it done, I make a right click on the file (in the ftp), and I use the copy url's button, and I have the direct link to download the file for my friend (like ​http://nitro.myftp.org/picture.jpg). Smartftp has this function, but it can also copy the ftp url, and just the path. It's a very useful function and i hope she can be add to a futur version of Filezilla.

When I try the "Copy URL to Clipboard" menu item under Server, I get a return in the format: <login>@<ftp server address><current directory>

I was under the impression this would create an actual URL, something like: ​http://<ftp server address><current directory>

While on this topic, it would be VERY nice if the remote file context menu would offer an option of "Copy URL to Clipboard" and put into the clipboard this kind of line: ​http://<ftp server address><current directory><selected file(s)>

In previous versions you could select multiple files and copy ALL the URL information to the clipboard using <Copy URL(s) to Clipboard> by right mouse clicking.

For some reason the latest version for both Windows and OSX will only copy one URL.

Please fix this bug as this is a very useful function to be able to copy more than one URL at at time.

I really love the right click - "Copy URL(s) to clipboard" but I always have to go back and paste the password into the link. It would be great to either have it as an additional right click option ("Copy URL(s) to clipboard *with password*"), or have a switch (in settings?, with security warnings?) to have "Copy URL(s) to clipboard" include the password.

Copy URL to clipboard feature will not leave anything to the clipboard if FileZilla has been quit.

• Right click on a file which is on the remote site
• Click on [Copy URL to clipboard]
• Close FileZilla
• Try to paste (in any application) -> it won't paste anything

When I use the "Copy URL(s) to clipboard" action in the context menu of the remote view, and the filename contains certain characters, e.g. "č", "ě" and many others -- possibly all of which are not in the active Windows code page (for me that is CP1252), the program crashes.

I updated to 3.18.0 this morning, because of the auto-update feature. The first thing I did was upload 4 files to my company FTP. 1- I highlighted the new files 2- right-click on them, I think the last one. 3- select Copy URL(s) to clipboard 4- I then went to my email and right-click to paste the URLs. 5- Only 1 of the 4 URLs pasted into my email.

Repeating the process with Ctrl-V instead of right click in email with the same result. Pasting into other applications like Notepad++ had the same result.

I have done this hundreds, if not thousands of times in the past.

3. Paste the contents of the clipboard into Notepad

PROBLEM: The copied/pasted URL contains "anonymous@" as part of the URL. This is not necessary and just makes the URL longer when passing it on to other people.

e.g. ​ftp://anonymous@ftp.yourwebsite.com/pub/folder/alpha/program/programname.zip

Since updating to FileZilla 3.9.0.1, I am no longer able to copy and past the local site path to the Remote site path like I have been able to in the past. Was this feature disabled on purpose and if so would you tell me the reason?

I keep the same path on my local drive as I do on my server and it just means less typing.

It looks that the copy button in site manager is not implemented. Tested with Beta 2 and NB 2006-11-23 on WinXP SP2.

It would be very convenient to have the capability to use the context menu to copy URL(s) as web links in addition to ftp.

IE, in the current implementation, copying a URL with the rmb menu might yield: ​ftp://MitchR@thepixelfarm.com/tmp/fc_expressionFolderIssue.png

but often, what I need is: ​http://www.thepixelfarm.com/tmp/fc_expressionFolderIssue.png

Right now, if I need to copy files/folders, I need to download them and reupload them (or 'cp' command via SSH).

It would be very useful to be able to copy a selection of files/folders on the same remote connection.

I know that the FTP protocol does not support copying files (only move).

When we select to 'view/edit' a file with the default editor, the file is downloaded in a temporary location, and then optionally deleted when it is uploaded.

Maybe the same kind of mechanism could be used, but for copying files? automatically download files and folders to copy in a temporary location and then upload them at the right place (and maybe adding a '_copy' prefix if the remote file already exists).
