#699 /reload-config only works when logged in Bug report normal Other
Description

I want to be able to use the /reload-config option for FileZilla server to reset passwords without stopping and re-starting the server. On multiple Windows platforms, it worked fine if I was logged in and ran it manually from a command prompt. I run an SSH session using PuTTY and it did not return an error, but it did not work either. Then I tried using the command line scheudler (AT command) and that did not do the trick either. I was thinking it might be a user privelage level, even though I did not get any access denied errors. Then I tried wrapping the command into a service written in c# running with admin privelages, no luck there too. My end goal is to create an ASP.NET page for resetting password. The class performing this would ideally invoke the "FileZilla Server /reload-config

BTW: FileZilla is awesome and it rules!

#700 downloading to local network Bug report normal Other

#701 Window Position Not Saving Bug report normal Other
Description

I'm using v2.2.8b (but this has happened on every version of FileZilla I've ever used), & the window position will not save after you exit FileZilla. The 'transfer queue' window keeps on moving upwards (ie making itself bigger) , thus making the 'local view' & 'remote view' windows smaller. I drag the transfer queue window down everytime I enter FileZilla, but it never saves after I exit. The 'remember window size & position of FileZilla' option is ticked.

#703 FZ Server - LIST compatibility problem with DreamWeaver Bug report normal Other
Description

Depending on the modification date/time of the file/directory, Macromedia's DreamWeaver will add an extra space to the start of the name when parsing the results from a LIST on version 0.93 of FileZilla server.

This stops DreamWeaver users from being able to access many of the folders on an FTP site served by FileZilla.

This appeared to be fixed in 0.89, but is back in 0.92 and 0.93.

I understand that FTP clients shouldn't be depending on LIST per the RFC, however, this is no consolation to the many DreamWeaver users out there.

#705 Slashes are forced on the directory - MVS files do not have Bug report normal Unknown
Description

I tried to connect to an FTP server on MVS (aka zOS) and FileZilla insists on putting slashes around the directory name.

The command to get to the MVS (non-USS) directory is

CWD 'SYS1.'

to get to the files beginning with SYS1.

FileZIlla forces

CWD /'sys1.'/

which is invalid.

I entered CWD 'SYS1.' in the raw command filed, but FileZIlla will not refresh it.

#708 Option to not upload certain files/directly Bug report normal Other
Description

Feature request:

A list of filenames/directories which will not be uploaded to a remote site, if not explicitely selected.

E.g., if you select to upload "dir1" which contains "dir2", and "dir2" is in the list of directories not to upload, "dir2" won't be uploaded, although all other content of "dir1" is being uploaded.

The rational is, when working with CVS/SVN to no upload the versioning system configration data.

#710 No icons next to files Bug report normal Other
Description

Both in the Local Filelist and the Remote Filelist I can see no icons next to the files and folders. This is very impractical because I don't see at the first look, if it is a file or a directory. Even when I turn on the "Large Icons"-mode, I can't see any Icons!

#711 Redraw bug with transfer progress bars when resizing column Bug report normal Other
Description

In the FileZilla client, when I'm transferring files in the transfer queue, if I resize the Local Filename column to make it bigger (dragging it to the right), one or more of the transfers' progress bars will not redraw correctly, leaving phantom horizontal lines on the right of the bar(s). See my screenshot for an example. The first time, it occurred with both bars, but I could not reproduce that.

#712 File exists dialog dups on retries, remain after disconnect Bug report normal Other
Description

In the FileZilla client, if I try to transfer a file and get the File Exists Already dialog box, if my server connection is disconnected and reconnects automatically, I'll get a second, identical File Exists Already dialog, and I'll get another one if I get disconnected and auto-reconnect again.

If I reach my limit of three tries to auto-reconnect and I stay permanently disconnected, I'll have three File Exists Already dialogs that aren't of any use to me at that point.

#713 Local and remote dirs: filesize incorrect Bug report normal Other

#714 Reopening from System Tray is not maximised Bug report normal Other
Description

First - this is a duplicate of the closed bug #732137, opened because I'd like a small enhancement to Filezilla.

Second - Technically, the response to 732137 is correct

  • restore has a specific meaning in Windows (don't know

about the other platforms), which is to the non-maximised size/position.

However, when reopening a program I have minimised to the Tray, personally I want it to return to the size/position it was in when I sent it there, whether it was maximised or not. It's just annoying to have to maxmise it again...

This behaviour could be governed by Setting e.g. a Radio Button Group called "Restore from System Tray" with options "To non-maximised position" and "To size when minimized" - this way everybody can be happy...

#721 wfFTP multislot router connection Bug report normal Other
Description

If the router does have a PCMCIA card in the default slot, then the initial directory listing is successful and you are able to change volumes to other slots using the Remote Site field.

#722 Spelling error in IP Filter options Bug report normal Unknown
Description

In FileZilla Server, there is a spelling error in the "IP Filter" section of the program options. The "IP Filters" section contains two textboxes. The spelling error is in the description of the second textbox. The last word (again) is spelled "agin". This also appears in "IP Filter" section of the "users" options as well. I'm assuming this is because it is reading the same string from some language file.

Keep up the good work :-)

#724 remote listing date format Bug report normal Other

The date format used in the remote listing is DD-MM-YYYY (e.g. 25-09-2004) whereas the date format used in the local listing is DD-Mmm-YYYY (e.g. 25-Sep-2004).

The latter is what Windows Explorer is using and so may be my default format.

It would seem to make sense to use the same date format in the remote listing (or, if you are keen, to provide an additional setting in Edit/Settings/Local file list and Edit/Settings/Remote file list).

#731 Multiple IPs on one NIC -> active FTP problem Bug report normal Other
Description

System: Windows Server 2003 with multiple IPs defined on the NIC

Example:

Default IP: x.x.x.100 Additional IPs: x.x.x.110, x.x.x.120

Filezilla server listening on IP x.x.x.110

Client connection and authentication is successful. when the client requests the directory listing in ACTIVE-ftp mode, the server answers NOT with the source IP x.x.x.110, but with x.x.x.100!

The server should only use the IP it's listening on to communicate with the clients! (otherwise it confuses firewalls, nat-ting devices ...)

When using PASSIVE-ftp, the server uses the correct IP.

It appears that someone packaged FileZilla with some spyware and posted it to Download.com. You may need to contact thier administrators.

The version of FileZilla_2_2_8b_setup.exe being distributed there is in a different installer than the sourceforge copy.

Ad-Aware came up empty after installing both versions, but I cam back to work this morning to find a ton of spyware on my PC.

Why should Filezilla access Internet on port 80?

#738 Upload-Bug when Constant Speed limit is set Bug report normal Other
Description

Uploading a bigger php file in ASCII mode with a constant speed limit of 20 KB will cause Filezilla to upload only 16384 Bytes of the file. When speed limit is deactivated the file is uploaded correctly.

Example:

Uploading util.php (94322 Bytes) with speed-limit, only 16834 Bytes arrives at the server.

Uploading util.php (94322 Bytes) without speed-limit, 94322 Bytes arrives at the server.

See attachment for zipped example util.php file and client-server messages in debug-mode.

#739 ftp recursive directory upload: somes files get swapped Bug report normal Other fixed
Description

I have noticed this issue several times on the last 4-5 versions of filezilla (from 2.2.7something to the current 2.2.8d).

When uploading via standard FTP (in passive mode) a folder with nested folders in it and various files (typically the folder contains web pages with images and stylesheets nested inside subfolders), filezilla seems to cross some of the file references.

My experience shows that this mostly happens on images: i.e. filezilla will swap 2 images (i.e. will upload A into B, and B into A). I haven't seen an occurence of this on text files, but maybe it was just luck - the images outnumber the .htm files 10 to 1, typically. This only happens for a few files.

This happens on 2 different remote ftp servers (one on solaris, the other on linux), therefore I am inclined to suspect filezilla. Switching to another client solves the problem.

Has anyone seen this problem before?

#740 View/Edit While Downloading A Large Queue Bug report normal Unknown
Description

Not sure if this is a bug or just a feature that needs to be implemented:

If you have a sufficiently large queue (and it is currently downloading) and you attempt to View/Edit a file on the server, it sends the View/Edit request to the end of the queue instead of downloading and processing it immediately. Can you add an option to the Preferences menu forcing all View/Edit requests to be added to the top the queue (so you can open & edit files while your queue is running)? Thanks a bunch.

-=R

p.s. Great program; i use it daily at work and appreciate your efforts:)

BTW, I use Windows ftp command can get the file list.

#743 Server reload-config not working since 0.9.1b Bug report normal Other
Description

reload-config has not worked since 0.9.1b

I have not been able to figure out why so I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions. Worked fine in 0.9.1b.

Operating on win2k advanced server sp4.

#744 Non-passive IP address not forced for SSL/TLS connections Bug report normal Other
Description

The IP address set in "Edit -> Settings -> Connection -> Firewall Settings -> Use the following IP address for non-passive transfers" is not relayed to the server for SSL/TLS connections, making active connections impossible through NAT firewalls. The remote system attempts to open the data channel to the NAT host (which is, of course, unreachable) instead.

Logfile attached. In the transcript, 10.10.1.1 is a placeholder for the public server (it isn't NAT'ed). 172.20.2.61 is the client located by a NAT router.

#745 SFTP connection fail on output from .profile Bug report normal Other
Description

I'm using filezilla 2.2.8.d to connect to a sftp server. It works fine until someday I add some message to be outputed from my .profile whenever I login. Then filezilla fail to connect to the sftp server. I think it is because the verbose output from my .profile file exceeds the limit of a sftp packet so filezilla thinks the big packet is not a sftp packet and refuse to connect. I think this is a possible bug in filezilla. You can fix it by either allow filezilla welcome large packet or adding a checkbox permitting large sftp packet during connection.

#747 Upload of non-existing subdirectories causes double MKD Bug report normal Other
Description

Version FileZilla 2.2.9:

The remote directory is / and I want to upload a whole directory tree: gallery2 with a lot of subdirectories and files. All of the directories are not existing on the server.

I add the topmost gallery2 to the queue and the queue is filled. When I start to transfer the queue the remote directory is LISTed and then the non-existing subdirectories are created. But FileZilla tries to create every subdirectory twice.

The first log entries after the inital LIST command are:

#748 SFTP modifies the file name in Chinese Bug report normal Other
Description

Filezilla client 2.2.9

I tried to use SFTP to transfer a file, whose name is in Chinese but the file name was not displayed correctly. And after transfer, the file name was modified (just as it showed).

However, the content of the file (which is also in Chinese) was correct.

I don't know whether it is a bug, or just I don't know how to use this GREAT software.

THANKS!!!!!

#749 message log view scrollbar defaults to top Bug report normal Unknown
Description

The message log scrollbar defaults to viewing the top of the log window. New information is added to the bottom of the window. Therefore what is displayed in the window when the log window automatically scrolls is old information.

I would like to see the scrollbar defaulting to the bottom of the window so that what is displayed as the window scrolls is the latest information.

#754 Intermittent "Could not retrieve directory listing" error Bug report normal Other
Description

I use FZ client 2.2.9; some settings are:

  • Active mode (i.e. Passive mode unchecked);
  • Yes limit local ports available... lowest=50100,

highest=50103;

  • direct connection (both client and ftp server are within

a company's intranet);

  • server is "ftpd" on HP-UX.

I do the following (repeadtedly): {open FZ; quick connect; close FZ}. Intermittenly, I get a "Could not retrieve directory listing" error!

The log follows. Hope it helps.

Thanks!

#758 FileZilla Server 0.9.3 crash/hang Bug report normal Other
Description

Sometimes, when many clients connects/disconnets my FileZilla Server hangs. I invistigate this problem, in reality it not hangs, it crashes (and stops when unhandled exception is processed in CExceptionReport::UnhandledExceptionFilter(), because this function wants user interaction, but FZS runs as service, and it not have possibility to show message boxes). Also I found (as I think :) ) cause of exception. Destructutor of CControlSocket object sends notification FSM_CONNECTIONDATA with partially filled op->data (filled only op->data->userid) other field filled with some junk, but when this notification processed by CServer::OnServerMessage() more than one field of op-

data is required (e.g. op->data->ip).

For resolve problem I make following patch in file Server.cpp (search attached file for PATCH HERE text).

#759 Upload fails at around 17k on ProFTPD Bug report normal Other
Description

Version 2.2.9

Just came across this problem. No errors are logged (looks successful) but files on the server are truncated to around 17k. Server works fine in WS_FTP.

It's reporting to be a ProFTPD server. We're running through NAT, etc...

#760 First file transfered fails Bug report normal Other
Description

When you click on the first file in the left hand window to transfer a file it begins to send that file immediately.

If then at the same time you hold the shift key down select a file at the bottom of the list (a group of about 5 - 8 files) and then drag and drop to the right window to transfer these files (fairly quickly). Causes a transfer error.

This seems to me to be a chase condition as it only tends to happen on the first transfer. The first file is been transfered whilst the group of files are been transfered. The first file then can cause an error to occur.

Hope that I have explained the problem......

Thanks for the hard work.

#761 App stops reading remote dir and refuses further interaction Bug report normal Other
Description

When I try to enter certain directories that have *many* files on my friend's SFTP server, Filezilla ultimately stops transferring data, doesn't display the directory, and refuses to have anything else to do with the server until disconnect and following reconnect.

I'm using Windows 98SE, and this bug *might* be related to the amount of available resources in Windows, since Filezilla DOES work correctly when Windows has been freshly rebooted, but the problem occurs again when Windows has been on for sufficiently long.

Along, I've attached a log file where I performed the said thing, with the suggested debug checkmarks turned on.

#762 download speed timelimit rules Bug report normal Unknown
Description

The timecombobox works very weird. I cannot intuitively set a normal time for a speed limit.

E.g. I want to limit downloads from 12:00:00 to 00:00:00 @ 30kbps

I click on the combobox, set a new digit for e.g. the minutes, and it jumps back to the default value. Very annoying.

#763 In windows98, download is slow Bug report normal Other
Description

I use a filezilla client. In windows98, filezilla get the download speed max 1Mbps, But Microsoft's dos ftp get the download speed max 3~4Mbps. I set the HDD with DMA. In other Windows OS, the speed of filezilla is the same as that of Microsoft's. By using a filezilla client, I want to get the download speed as fast as Microsoft's windows ftp in the windows

Please explain the difference of the download speed and show me the solution to get the speed up. Please help me. Thanks in advance. Sorry, my english is poor.

#764 Upload a folder create unneed folder. Bug report normal Other
Description

I use a filezilla clinet program. I select a directory(/home/fff) in the remote tree. So, current directory is /home/fff in the remote site. I drag some folder(ok) in the local site to remote tree (/home/kk) by using a mouse. I expect that the directory(/home/kk/ok) will be created in the remote site. Yes. it created. But, dummy directory(/home/fff/ok) is created in the remote site, too. Filezilla creates dummy directory in the remote current directory.

#767 Empty remote list problem, detailed info Bug report normal Other
Description

Similar to request 1049781, 843691, 614962.

FileZilla is exhibiting a strange behavior. For just one server in my list of sites it's displaying an empty remote directory but not indicating any errors. This site had no problem when I first started using the app at 2.2.5 but recently "broke". Upgrading to 2.2.9 didn't resolve it. Switching active/passive has no effect. There have been no changes to the ftp server that I'm aware of, and other ftp clients including various installs of FileZilla still seem to work fine.

Below are transcripts of my sessions with a couple different configurations. Connecting with normal customized prefs file:

Works perfectly. Remote directory list is filled.

Extra notes:

  • If "show raw directory listing" is enabled, no such

data is shown when connecting with clean prefs the first time, while the second (successful) try does. With a customized prefs file this option outputs "Empty directory listing" as the list data.

  • When displaying an empty list, manually navigating to

a directory that is known to exist is successful, but subsequently also displays an empty list.

  • Uploading files into an empty listing works. Manually

downloading known existing files works.

#769 FileZilla breaks RFC 2228 with Implicit SSL? Bug report normal Other
Description

When using Implicit SSL the FileZilla client (version 2.2.9) automatically uses SSL for data connections without first issuing the command 'PROT P'. RFC 2228 states that unless otherwise specified, the data channel will remain clear.

This causes issues with many FTP servers that support Implicit SSL, as they expect the connection to be in clear text, not SSL. The result is an inability to do any file listings, or transfers.

Wrong spelling: "Vebinde mit" Correct spelling would be: "Verbinde mit"

#773 upload in ascii mode results in 16k truncation Bug report normal Other
Description

Hi there,

found a most annoying bug when uploading an asp file (in auto-ascii mode) to my hosting-provider. Any asp file larger than 16k seems to be truncated to 16k resulting in a corrupt file. The same for html-files which makes me believe it has something to do with ascii mode in general. Upload from command-line ftp (microsoft client) works just fine (in ascii mode) so it's not the ftp-server.

Im running v2.2.9 on Windows 2000

regards, Koen.

#779 Local server destination problem Bug report normal FileZilla Client

May I respectfully submit a possible bug?

Although you can navigate to a (Windows)
server\share location, when you transfewr from the remote server to the local destination the files are saved in the local drive. It is asthough
Boston\Share becomes c:\Boston\Share

I installed 2.2.9 over 2.2.8 and so deleted/uninstalled everything and tried again. No joy.

I'm not very sure but I think that this has worked fine in the past.

best. Fantastic Application.

#780 Change password does not work in 2.2.9 Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If I try to change password with server\change password reports that odl password is not correct. If I try chmod works fine. This is because Filezilla adds quote on begining and end of paasword phrase. Exp. chmod passold passnew - this is right, but filezilla sends to server chmod "passold" "passnew" - wrong. You have to sent without quotes. Then works.

#783 Stop appending already! Eirik Bug report normal Other
Description

No matter if I choose "ask" or "overwrite", many times (no always, but it happens a lot) it just decides to append the files I upload.

Sometimes I keep trying until it gives up, but usually, if it's a small file, I give up myself and just delete and upload again from scratch.

Although I don't use SFTP much (which uses different upload commands), I must mention it never happened there for me.

Please make this program respect my choice of "ask" or "overwrite" at all times, no matter how strongly it thinks I should append...

#784 Permission Error Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I've found a bug while trying to transfer a file from a Solaris 8 system to a Win2k3 system (NTFS).

I had no permission on the windows machine but FileZilla transfered the file anyway.

When I looked into the transfered directory the file wasn't there although the FileZilla log indicated that the file transfer was completed successfully.

When I tried it again it prompted me that the file is already there and would I like to override it - which can't be true (as you can rembere I don't have any writing permissions on the windows machine).

#786 VxWorks Problem Bug report normal Other
Description

Hello,

I have tried version 2.2.10 on VxWorks and i still have problems. It connects ok and gives me the initial file listing but then when you try and change directories it fails because the CDUP command is not valid on VxWorks. I have tried it on WsFTP and that tries this command first and when that fails it uses the command "CWD ..". I have tried sending this as a raw ftp command and it does change the current working directory but then when you try and get the file listing it fails with a "can't build data connection error".

I have attached a copy of the log file which show a few attempts with the same results.

#787 Hang /w rundll32 / Win98SE Bug report normal Other
Description

When I start Filezilla 2.29 under Win98/SE, the system hangs when turning it off or connecting to other network resources. The problem occurs only if I connected to an ftp server and close the connection without closing Filezilla; the more often I do so, it becomes more likely the error will occur; and it is always rundll32 that causes the system shutdown to fail. The problem could not be reprocuced if I use another ftp client, that's why I assume it is Filezilla that attempts to reconnect periodically if minimized with a closed ftp connection. Beside that, the program is great! Yours sincerely - Thomas H. Hey'l

#790 FileZilla strips leading / character Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Novell's FTP server software allows one to access the files on ANY Novell file server in the directory tree, using this syntax:

cwd server/volume/dir/subdir

When I enter such a path in FileZilla (2.2.10), such as "admin/ groups/registrar", it strips the first '/' character, changing the string I entered to "/admin/groups/registrar", and as such returns a '550 invalid path' error.

Another FTP client, NCFtp (www.ncftp.com) had the same issue a few versions back, but has since been fixed. WS_FTP on Windows, Fetch and Transmit on Mac OSX, and the command line FTP program on any Mac/Linux/Windows system all work correctly with this functionality and do not have this issue.

Please take a look at it. We really like FileZilla, but with that problem accessing Novell's FTP server, we have to steer clear of it for now.

I can provide a test account to our Novell server if you don't have one available to test against.

Thanks!

#793 Server timezone offset glitch Bug report normal Other
Description

The server timezone offset adjustment (in the Advanced section of Site Manager) works fine ... if the connection is made directly through this mechanism.

However, this offset adjustment setting is ignored if one reconnects to a site using the "R" button on the toolbar. Curiously, the offset adjustment is still honored (that is, it does function properly) if one reconnects using the CTRL+R keyboard combination instead.

When ignored, the server file timestamps are displayed as though the server timezone offset were set to zero.

#794 SFTP download fails with "no such file or directory" Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have tried to get support for this at the forum, but no ideas. See the thread at:

http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php? t=606&highlight=sftp

The problem appears to be with SFTP in particular. The connection to the users home directory works fine, but issuing "download" in the home directory fails. Text from the thread:

We are trying to pull files down to the client via Filezilla's SFTP client and we are having a problem. The server is OpenSSH 3.7.1p2. When doing view/edit or download all return the following output:

Status: Starting download of /home/username/test.ksh Command: GET test.ksh C:\Documents and Settings\username.domain\Desktop\test.ksh FALSE Response: /home/usernametest.ksh: no such file or directory Error: Download failed

It looks like the response is missing a / between the directory and the filename. Is this a known issue? FYI...I tried to do the same transfer with the PuTTy client directly with the same results. I have been successful with the ssh.com client and OpenSSH commandline client from UNIX.

I am attaching a debug trace if it helps. This is hight priority for us as we can't donwload any files through SFTP using Filezilla.

I have tested with the same results on Filezilla 2.2.8a through 2.2.10. The problem still exists.

Cheers,

P.S. From the thread...it is interesting to note the same problem directly in puTTY. Perhaps the problem is puTTY directly.

I've seen this more than a few times with the Filezilla client - this time it was with version 2.2.9.

The server from where I download is a Filezilla server but I dont know the version number. Anyway it never happends when I use WS_FTP or Microsoft FTP.

#799 Folder Icons not displayed in "local site" and "remote site" Bug report normal Other
Description

In version 2.2.10, I'm experiencing a bug where the folder and drive icons do not get displayed at all in the "local site" and "remote site" zones (see the attached .jpg).

I think the cause of this bug is the fact that I installed Windows on the I: partition (for complex reasons involving Linux :-P ), instead of the more standard C: .

It is also interesting to note that in the "file explorer" zone, just under the "local site" zone, icons get displayed perfectly right...

Is it possible that somewhere there's a "hard coded" default directory for system icons ?

My config: Filezilla 2.2.10 (French locale) WinXP Pro SP2 French (installed on I: ) P-III 733 Mhz 512 MB ram

#800 Multiple Trojan bugs Bug report normal Other
Description

When uploading with the FileZilla v2.2.9 client, Norton Internet Security pops up with 'Secutiry alerts', and is blocking the intrusion attempt. This is multiple trojan horses, including "ShockRave", "SubSeven", "Bugs", "DeepThroat" and other trojan horses.

At this state I do not have any screenshots of it, but it can be arranged if needed.
