Upon upgrading to version 3.10.2 I receive the following message upon connecting:

"Server sent passive reply with unroutable address. Using server address instead."

The application then proceeds to time out after 20 seconds with this message:

"Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity

Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing."

This is my second attempt to do an upgrade to 3.10.2 - with identical results. I am returning to my previous version (3.8.0) which works fine. I will ignore the update offer which automatically pops up when I open the application - a bit of a nuisance!

I tried installing version 3.7.3 of Filezilla on my MacBook Pro (w/ OS X 10.9 installed) and got this message:

"Filezilla cannot be installed because it from an unidentified developer."

I downloaded the file from download.cnet.com.

Is this something that can be easily fixed? I use Filezilla all the time and it would be a shame to not be able to use it on my new machine for this reason.

Logging System in filezilla server is very poor. It would be nice to log per user, per group, and per actions. I would like to see, from the log file, what files has a client download. Also it would be nice for the user to make his own perriod of every log file not only per day. I have read and some other ideas in other tickets. I think the Logging System needs a review...

Steps to reproduce issue:

1. Start a large file transfer from a remote source to a local external HDD.
2. Close Filezilla before xfr is complete.
3. Disconnect or turn off external HDD.
4. Reopen Filezilla.

   A message appears saying that the file cannot be found for writing. The file is removed from the bottom pane.

5. Reconnect/turn on the external HDD.

   The file does not reappear in the bottom pane of Filezilla.

6. Close and Reopen Filezilla.

   The file still does not reappear.

After updating this morning, the new version failed to login on my Server. Restoring the system - and everything worked perfectly - with the old version 3.9.0.2

So My name is Arthur and I accedentally changed the word press url, cause I was alittle spooked that the both my site url and my wordpress url, so I had validating in WC3 validator and it show that I needed to get and 404 error and...come to find out that needed to get rid of the redirect, in the config_wp.php file...it also revealed great reviews.code writer.

quota, virtual dir etc..

Hi: As it is now, when deleting a Filezilla file, a window pops up and on the window are the words, "Really delete 1 file?" It would be great if when deleting a file the pop up window said, "Really delete Horses.gif?" (The Horses.gif is just an example) With "Really delete 1 file?" it's easy to make a mistake and delete a file that is important and was never intended to be deleted. Thank you Norm Augustinus

I have a multi-level folder directory that could not be added to the queue to be uploaded correctly. The folder structure is similar as follows:

             - template2.tpl

When in the local directory, and in the www level and right-clicking on www and choosing "add files to queue", not all the files get added to the queue.

More correctly, only the files in the _images directory get added to the queue.

This worked correctly with filezilla 2.2.30 but has broken with the current version.

when trying to connect to our sftp server using our domain name vs. the IP address the connection fails with the following message:

I installed the latest FileZilla Client 3.9.0.1 yesterday, and every time I open a new directory now the screen goes black for a second, and I get a warning that says the Windows driver had recovered from a problem. If I try to do anything even slightly complex, I get the blue screen of death and have to restart (x3 so far today). Hopefully a patch will come through to correct this issue. Hi We have a few clients that receive the message "Failed to load SSL libraries" when trying to connect to our FileZilla Server. Our Users are currently running FileZilla 3.10.1.1 and our FileZilla Server version is 0.9.43. We understand that there are newer versions of the FileZilla Server, but since this server is in production we do not want upgrade (which will affect other clients) until we know for sure other that it will address this issue. Other Technical information about this issue is:

We have currently set up the Server to use FTPS on Port 990. The Server Certificate is a FileZilla generated cert using TLS 1.2 On the Server when the connection fails we can see a message in the log: "431 Could not initialize SSL connection"

The clients are set to use: Protocol: FTP- File Transfer Protocal Encryption: Require implicit FTP over TLS Logon Type: Normal

I've been trying to get FileZilla (v.3.5.3) through to tripod.com in order to upload my files to my website located there (​http://australianart.tripod.com/). Tripod assert, over and over, that they can ftp access my website without any problems from their end. Each time I receive and install an update, a temp file is created in my temp directory called nsh505.tmp and I cannot delete this file from the folder. The only way it dissappears is to re-boot. Pleas advise...thank you

It would be nice if I could specify not to count transfers below a certain speed as part of the limit for total number of transfers, such as bittorrent clients allow.

Every day I want to upload some files to FTP server and then rename them. It is a hard work when I have to rename many of files.

So I suggest that FileZilla will provide Custom Server-Side Commands feature.

i.e.: If there are 3 files(1.txt,2.txt.3.txt) will to be rename to (a.txt,b.txt,c.txt), then Filezilla can let me define a commmands-group as a menu to do this work.

When I right-click on a remote file and choose View/Edit, I get an error message that says "DDE Execute request failed: A request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out." The file I am trying to edit is web.config which I have associated to open with Notepad++. When I click View/Edit in Filezilla, it opens Visual Studio 2005, displays the error message in Filezilla, and does NOT open the file.

When trying to Open or View/Edit WinRAR archives from my local h/d and from my remote homespace. I have never had such problems with previous versions of FileZilla, only the latest version. I first get:

...flashing twice and it opens Windows XP's zipper in a seperate window. Then I either get:

DDE execute request failed: a transaction has failed

...or something like: DDE execute request failed: a synchronous execute transaction has timed out

I end up having to drag my remote archives to a seperate Windows Explorer window to use them. Defragging and error-fixing my h/d has not helped. Can this please be fixed before I lose confidence in this program? I'm setting the priority to high, accordingly.

I am trying to transfer an image but I get this icon see attachment. The file appears on the server with 0 bytes.The file is not empty

When using the Quickconnect bar to connect to a server with the username "anonymous" it seems that FileZilla ignores the entered password and submits a default password.

Workarounds,

If you control the server:

• create the account with the username of "anon" instead of "anonymous".
• Configure the server to accept all passwords for an account with the username "anonymous" (not always preferable, anonymous does not mean open to all).
• Change the password of the account to match FileZilla's default anonymous password (same problem as above, this would give access to everyone using FileZilla).

If you only control the client:

• Add the account into the Site manager and select the logontype "normal", this will cause your password to be written to disk in cleartext, not preferable on shared computers (easily recovered even if deleted, unless you 'shred' the file or it is overwritten)

Notes: FileZilla version: 3.1.2 (Linux AMD64). I was connecting to an account using sftp. (the server was openSSH's internal-sftp, version 5.1)

When you find a DLL you don't want to load SetLastError(ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED) then return NULL. That will stop the DLL from loading.

Since I migrated to windows 10 on my desktop, I've been able to get on the server via ftp, but I can't drill down into the sub-folders. Nothing happens when I double click on the sub-folders to open them. I don't have this problem when I use filezilla on my macbook pro laptop.

Despite having updated it to 3.9.10.

No problem accessing it to view and download from !

Starting filezilla.exe either directly or with shortcut generates this error message:

Users\PM\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\filezilla.xml Error reading Attributes For this session the default settings will be used. Any changes to the settings will not be saved.

As a result, the settings are dropped, and any settings entered cannot be saved. This bug appeared suddenly, without any cause that I can identify. It could not be corrected by uninstalling and re-installing, and it could not be corrected by downloading a new setup file and re-installing that. I will answer any questions that would help de-bug this. Thanks for helping.

If you try to drag&drop 4 or more files from your machine to the right pane, you get only uploaded correctly 3 of the 4 files (or n-1 of the n files uploaded).

If you try to download the files from the right pane to the left pane it works fine, the problem is only when you upload files.

I've been having issues with all my pages I create rendering me a 404 not found error which I heavily researched for days...and I'm still having issues with these pages not showing up online.

I have checked my server access data several times and they are correct. Check my direct access to the server and they are accessing normally. It only started giving trouble when trying to access via FileZilla.

i recently upgraded to 3.9.0.1 and then 3.9.0.2 version. when i start downloading using filezilla, my screens turns black i.e. flickering starts and sometimes i get memory dump error too. earlier i was using "FileZilla_3.8.1_win32-setup.exe" file and it was working very smooth. but with upgrades 3.9.0.1/3.9.0.2 versions, unable to complete my work.

The program will not allow me to open/edit any files from within the program using dreamweaver CS4 even after setting the file type associations which creates a lot more work for nothing!

Been using your product for many years, love it. But recently I went the sftp for security reasons. I have noticed that at the end, the directory listings do not automatically refresh like it use to do. I have to manually refresh to see the uploaded file at the ftp site. I mark 'Synchronized browsing' in the settings. It works during a session. After closing and starting FileZilla again, the setting is forgotten.

THe option to "Upload/overwrite if src file newer" is not memorized when selected to memorize (during dialog prompt).

• This only works if "Settings" > "Transfers" > "File exists action" is set accordingly
• Still then the "newer" property seems not to be checked correctly, as you can now overwrite again and again without changing the src file. --> Should only be possible once after it was changed!

I'm running on Mac OSX, and I don't recall having this problem with FileZilla on PC.

Please fix this ASAP or I'll have to abandon your fantastic, amazing project.

My project is very large and accesses many files on the server. When I backup the server via FileZilla, this limit causes me to miss backing up files without even knowing it.

On Windows platforms newer than WinXP besides SetFilePointer+SetEndOfFile preallocation method which fills required disk space with zeros which might take a lot of time in case of a very large file, there is another literally instant function: SetFileValidData (see MSDN), it just claims disk space leaving intact whatever data there was.

Despite common belief that fragmentation isn't an issue, it's quite the opposite - 1+GB files downloaded in such applications as FileZilla Client which doesn't preallocate disk space, are extremely slow to copy and work with when mounted and impose absolutely unnecessary huge load on HDD due to a lot of disk seeks.

Apparently only a few win32 ftp clients can preallocate space and none of them uses SetFileValidData. Out of about 20 most popular ftp clients I've tested, only Flashget and NetTransport had the feature. Actually I've searched all files on my PC and out of hundreds of small and large win32 apps that constantly deal with creation of files, large and small, only VirtualDub and uTorrent use SetFileValidData, also the latter allows user to select whether he prefers instant preallocation, complete with zeroing or none of the two.

There was a similar ticket (#1486) 7 years ago and now it's already 2012 but FileZilla Client still doesn't preallocate space.

If I export my connections list, which have some passwords stored, the XML generated has the passwords publicly displayed. I think there should be, at least, an obfuscation on that, since its easy to find out someones' password (which is obfuscated in the program) just by exporting its connections and looking through the XML.

When I try to rename local file to name that already exists, it overrides that file.

Example: I have 2 files test test1 renaming test1 to test replace test file without warning.

Trying the same on remote server throws alert saying filename already exists, what is good.

When FileZilla client starts, it takes initial local directory from parameter "Last local directory" in filezilla.xml file. Remote path could be set by means of command line options.

It would be great if you could include command line option to also set initial local directory.

This is usefull in case of starting FileZilla from filemanager when user is already in desired local directory. Now, it's necessary to go to this directory in FileZilla again instead of just pass it to FileZilla as a command line parameter.

I would like to see the ability to remove entries from the Quickconnect menu without having to clear all the entries

A right clickable option in the windows version to move a file to another folder would be very useful in folders containing so many files that dragging a file to another folder would involve about two minutes of scrolling. The alternative at the moment for speed seems to be deleting the file in question (or leaving a duplicate) and reuploading to the desired folder.

I find the remote file search very useful but also restricting. For example, I often search for error logs and having several subdomains I end up with a long list.

Invariably I want to open a file to see, and often edit its contents but I can't do so without waiting for the search to finish (or stopping the search).

Could I suggest one or more of the following in order of preference:

1. To be able to click on a file in the list and read/edit it.
2. For the search results form not to be a fixed dialog so that one can perform other functions whilst it is running (for example open and edit a file from the main FZ screens).
3. Export a copy of the search results so that they can easily be referred to outside FZ (say in notebook)

If I try to change password with server\change password reports that odl password is not correct. If I try chmod works fine. This is because Filezilla adds quote on begining and end of paasword phrase. Exp. chmod passold passnew - this is right, but filezilla sends to server chmod "passold" "passnew" - wrong. You have to sent without quotes. Then works.

work around: manual editing of source filename in queue xml file solves the problem

I've found a bug while trying to transfer a file from a Solaris 8 system to a Win2k3 system (NTFS).

I had no permission on the windows machine but FileZilla transfered the file anyway.

When I looked into the transfered directory the file wasn't there although the FileZilla log indicated that the file transfer was completed successfully.

When I tried it again it prompted me that the file is already there and would I like to override it - which can't be true (as you can rembere I don't have any writing permissions on the windows machine).
