DDE Execute request failed: A request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out.

Reported by: Kim Quigley Owned by: Faraz Choudhry
Priority: high Component: FileZilla Client
Keywords: DDE Execute request failed Cc: razzledazzler2@…
Component version: Operating system type: Windows
Operating system version: XP SP/2

Description

When I right-click on a remote file and choose View/Edit, I get an error message that says "DDE Execute request failed: A request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out." The file I am trying to edit is web.config which I have associated to open with Notepad++. When I click View/Edit in Filezilla, it opens Visual Studio 2005, displays the error message in Filezilla, and does NOT open the file.

Replying to kimquigley:

I am having this same problem with the latest version when trying to open WinRAR archives from my local h/d and from my remote homespace. I have never had such problems with previous versions of FileZilla. I mostly also get:

DDE execute request failed: a transaction has failed

How do the Action options work in this forum? Sorry, I'm a newbie to them but I need this resolved asap. If it's needed for me to submit something from the error console then please let me know. Thank you.

Addendum:

Before getting the above error I get these dialogue boxes:

Cannot open folder C:\¦ or Cannot open folder C:\l (unable to tell from font)

When trying to open the WinRAR archive from anywhere.

Thank you.

Is there any way that this can be fixed before I lose confidence in the product? I have to keep dragging the remote archive file to local space before then opening it through Windows Explorer which is a pain. Older versions of FileZilla allowed me to open/edit from its own local and remote windows while this one produces the silly errors described above. Please treat this with high priority, thank you.
