#4627 Annoying password popup when upload queue fails repeatedly normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

When uploading a file, if the FTP server closes the connection, FileZilla client asks me for my password in a popup for immediate reconnection.

This is annoying when the FTP server systematically closes the connection (for example because I have exceeded the limit of simultaneous connections and the server has put me on a 10 minute timeout). FileZilla's password popup steals focus from the main window so that it's impossible to stop the queue processing. Trying to close the popup just makes it open again immediately. Effectively the only way to escape the situation is to close the popup as many times as there are files on the queue.

#4400 Binary transfer failures with mp4 media normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

Have had issues trying to transfer .mp4 video files via ftp to a server using filezilla client version 3.2.3.1. File transfer would fail at aprox 30 mb. Resume would fail to work. This has happened four times with that version.

I've since reverted back to version 3.1.5.1. This version, the binary transfer works as it should. The transfer isn't failing and resume is working as it should.

#4515 Port change doesn't take effect until FZ client restart. normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

I use filezilla to connect to a FTP server (NAS drive) in the office LAN. Sometimes we change the port that the NAS FTP Server hears. These are the steps:

  • I connect to the ftp server in port 21 (any port)
  • The admin changes the port of the server to 321 (any port)
  • I disconnect.
  • I enter the site site manager in filezilla and change the port.
  • I try to connect, but the port that filezilla tryes to use is the old one.
  • Only if I close filezilla, and open it again, the new port is used.

I have only tested this in a local FTP server with 2 devices (a Lacie NAS and a Freecom NAS). I have not tried with a server in Internet.

Best regards, and thanks for your software, from Spain.

#4210 Site Manager Improvement (Sort of Bug) normal fixed 15 years 12 years
Description

On FileZilla Client, open "Site Manager". On right side we have 4 tabs. The bugs/improvements below are related to the site manager dialog.

General Tab: Servertype --> should be "Server Type" Logontype --> should be "Logon Type" or "Login Type"

Anonymons is by default selected for Logontype, which is fine, but when I select Normal from the dropdown, the User and Password boxes still show 'anonymous' and ''. Upon selecting 'Normal', these two boxes should clear up. Everytime I create/add a new site, I have to delete these two boxes. They should automatically clear up.

When Servertype FTP is selected, the Port box could show 21 by default. Similarly when SFTP is selected, the port box can change to 22 automatically. I remember FileZilla 2 had this before.

Advanced Tab Servertype --> should be "Server Type"

For default remote directory, if I enter "/public_html" it works, but if I just enter "public_html" it does not work and shows a message saying the path could not be mapped. FileZilla 2 handled this automatically. Can we have it back?

The tab "Transfer settings" should be "Transfer Settings", i.e. in title case.

"Force showing hidden files" option should be also available in the site manager. There can be a checkbox for it just below the "Default Remote Directory" text box.

This is all I have for now. Thanks.

#4227 Pasword problem normal rejected 15 years 12 years

I have used FileZilla a lot here at the office and it has always worked fine until yesterday. I am the only one at my PC and I have double checked numerous times and all login info is correct, yet I keep getting the following error.

I'm assuming this means MY password is incorrect? I am positive the password I entered is right and need some help. Thanks.

#1252 Cannot get directory listing from z/VM 5.1 (implicit SSL) normal 17 years 12 years
Description

I am trying to make a connection to an IBM z890 mainframe running z/VM 5.1 with implicit SSL/TLS encryption. After the connection is made, a 'LIST -a' command is sent to get the directory listing. '-a' is invalid on a z/VM server. Filezilla does not send a '-a' operand to a z/OS server with explicit TLS. Why is the '-a' used for FTP with implicit SSL/FTP? Is this some requirement of implicit SSL/TLS that IBM is ignoring?

#7474 tool bar normal duplicate 13 years 12 years
Description

I would like to report in your software the toolbar will disappear from the screen when the message log is scrolling.

I currently own the Toshiba and I noticed on your previous version of your software. This bug did not do this and the toolbar stayed exactly where it was and did not disappear. The only time I can get the toolbar to reappear is when I have to hit F5 and refresh the screen or minimize the window and then maximize it again which will cause the toolbar to reappear at which point we'll stay in its normal position without flickering so every time I open up the program before using it. I have to minimize the screen and then maximize it and then work up from there. I don't think it is my computer because the previous version did not do this. I just recently of graded to the newest version within a week and I noticed this glitch I don't know if anybody else is happening. This type of problem, but it is worth looking into because your program is such an asset to the community.

I captured a screenshot live of what it does but I see no way to import it into your ticket system to show you exactly what's going onif you need further information or you want to see in this video that captured of what exactly going on. Please contact me and I will find a way to get to the footage

#5602 Disappearing toolbar buttons normal duplicate 14 years 12 years
Description

There is a lot of overlapping of command lines in the top window of filezilla client. As the command lines scroll up the toolbar buttons disappear until I mouse-over them. If view quick connect is deselected then reselected it looks normal. subsequent use is normal till next time program is opened. I know you may not support windows 7 yet but this is fyi.

#5654 Some of the display is broken in Windows 7 64bit normal duplicate 14 years 12 years
Description

Occasionally, as I cannot purposely replicate the issue, when you switch between programs using the normal taskbar in Windows 7 64bit, the upper display, where the menu bar, server login bar, quick connect, etc, will be covered in the server transfer logs. This display stays messed up until you minimize the FZ window, or close it and restart it. Then it will happen again.

I was just now able to replicate part of the issue by switching between a Windows Explorer window and Filezilla.

#7265 GUI overwrite of top menu and toolbar area normal duplicate 13 years 12 years
Description

The top menu, toolbar area of icons and quick connect is being overwritten by scrolling text in the connect and actions information text area. (I don't know it's official name) This happens consistently every time the program is used. When you pass the cursor over the menu or some toolbar icons, they sometimes come back. (the icon hover toggle) This has happened for some time and is still occurring with the latest release.

#3980 pop windows broken after enabling secondary monitor normal outdated 16 years 12 years
Description

If I have FileZilla open and then enable a secondary monitor, every pop window that FileZilla thereafter tries to create will be tiny (just a pixel or so) and in the upper left hand corner of the primary monitor (as if no dimension or location parameters were ever passed). Also these windows are not resizeable so I have to close FileZilla and reopen it and then everything works as normal. These pop windows include but not limited to the Options window and the Overwrite? prompt window but essentially every box that is attempted will not display correctly. Thank you for you time and effort in this amazing program.

This bug occurs on both 3.1.1.1 and 3.1.2 prior to upgrading I used 2.2.32 and never experienced this problem

#5673 FZ Crashes on slow computers with ssl normal outdated 14 years 12 years
Description

Hi, I have a serious problem with ftps on my eeePC (WinXP Home 32, intel atom): as soon as i use ftps (SSL), filezilla(3.3.4.1) keeps hanging up the entire system and sometimes even crashes. the connections are really slow and the gui is not really responsive. connecting over normal ftp is no problem. i use filezilla server(0.9.37 beta) on my other pc(Win7 x64, Core i7), which is pretty fast and has no problems with this.

i understand that ssl needs cpu power, but is it necessary to crash filezilla?

I followed a promp to upgrade to 3.5.3 from 3.5.2, As it said none of my settings would be altered I thought it would be fine.

Now when i go to log onto a server I get an error saying.....

Status: Initializing TLS... Error: GnuTLS error -12: A TLS fatal alert has been received. Error: Could not connect to server

I have found my settings for the server, port, port, login, password etc and they are all fine.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

#1157 Cannot add end-of-line in "Comments" field normal 18 years 12 years
Description

In the "Comments" field of the Site Manager:

If a comment exists and you want to add text and end a line in the midst of the existing comment, how do you end the line?

Pressing "return" will fail. (It will instead connect you to the site.)

There seems to be no way to end the line.

EXAMPLE:

Existing text:

This is a sample of an existing comment. This is the last line of the comment.

Desired text:

This is a sample of an existing comment. You would like to add this line. This is the last line of the comment.

PROBLEM: You cannot add the end-of-line for that middle line.

Description

Filezilla client v3.2.6.1 OS Windows Vista ultimate sp1 intel core 2 quad processor

similar to existing ticket# 4659 but with filezilla clent instead of server. During file transfer with 85k adobe pdf file, prompted twice to overwrite existing file with same name. Upon closer inspection after transfer, file appears to be "cut" at 65k size and balance of file appears to be overwritten, but transfer terminates due to timeout.

Went to verify on second computer: filezilla v3.2.6.1 OS windows XP sp 3 intel core 2 duo

same file transferred without a problem without second prompt to overwrite existing file. Transfer is successful.

Error is repeatable with Windows vista ultimate computer and successful transfer is repeatable with windows xp computer. Appears to be specific to window vista ultimate for this case.

This behavior might be related to a fix / enhancement implemented to solve tickets 1088 and 1089.

#4419 SFTP timezone detection broken by dailight saving normal duplicate 15 years 12 years
Description

FileZilla 3.1.6

In SFTP mode, FZ uses the modification time of the user's .bash_history to detect the server's timezone.

I had the issue that on several servers, the .bash_history file was not updated since months (sftp only account). More precisely before the switch to summer time.

FZ was showing all files modified 1 hour later than real.

WORKAROUND: Login at least once on the server, this will update .bash_history. Fixed. Probably until the next time switch in October.

#4309 Upload of large files completes, but shows zero bytes on server high outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

Re: Filezilla 3.2.2.1

Hello, I enjoy using Filezilla daily, but there's a bug when uploading large files. This has occurred in previous versions of Filezilla, but I haven't reported it until now. The uploads complete, only to show zero bytes on the server. The uploaded files do not play or download when requested by a browser. These are mostly audio and video files in excess of say 100 MB up to 250 MB. I've tried uploading the same files to the same server directory with other clients - WS-FTP, Cute, Smart, ftp Explorer, ftp Voyager, etc. They all complete the transfer and show the correct file size. Which makes me think there's a subtle bug in Filezilla. I've attached the Filezilla verbose log. For now, I'm using WS-FTP to transfer large files.

#4842 Queue window display problem normal duplicate 15 years 12 years
Description

The upload status in the queue is appearing at the top of the queue window, with only a blank space appearing under the file currently being uploaded. This misplaced status line is covering the clickable sort headers (e.g. "Server/Local file", "Direction", "Remote file"); these headers reappear if moused-over, but disappear again when the status is redrawn.

#7189 Successfully uploaded file is larger on remote server than original source file normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

Running Filezilla 3.3.5.1 on Windows XP 64-bit ("Windows Server 2003 build 3790, Service Pack 2");

Connecting to a vsftp over FTPES;

The majority of the time, file transfers work fine - but what I've found is that periodically when uploading files over poor connections, Filezilla will report that a transfer completed successfully, but it turns out that the "successfully" uploaded file is LARGER (on the remote server) than the original source (local) file!

If, for instance, I upload a directory of 50 images, eventually FileZilla will report 50 successful transfers. However, if I then do a directory comparison of the source and destination, it'll turn out that i.e. 45 of them match in filesize, but 50 of the remote files are LARGER than the source files which were supposedly uploaded.

#8140 directory listing error if it contains a space high duplicate 12 years 12 years
Description

when using Filezilla client, I observed that , if there is a "space" as first character for a directory name, it will give directory listing error when we try to enter in to the directory.

when the directory name is displayed we will not be able to see the "space" character also.

I have renamed the directory from command mode, ie removed the space then it started working.

#8032 Unity Support in Ubuntu 12.04 high outdated 12 years 12 years
Description

I've noticed that when you minimize FileZilla you cannot re-open the existing window. If you click on the FileZilla icon in the unity menu to re-open a minimized instance, it instead opens a new instance. This can lead to FileZilla crashing. This also poses a serious concern for long upload/download of files due to losing where you are at. Please contact me if you need more information, I'll provide any assistance I can.

#4470 Server connection Problem low outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

When connecting to 1 ftp server I receive an error after it logs me in that it can not retreive the directory listing. See Attached. I am currently running 3.2.4.1

It only occurs on my WAN. On my cable modem at home, it connects and transfers with no error. I spoke with our network data center and they are showing no "backtalk" from the firewall or the remote server. This has always worked until I loaded your software update about a week ago (version before this one). When I use my MAC to connect, It has no problems. No problems with DOS or Windows explorer.

Empty directory listing doesn't work properly (in both passive and active mode). When i try to open an empty directory or upload a file in an empty directory opening or upload fails in most cases (about 85% – sometimes, seemingly randomly, it passes).

I presume that this is server-related trouble but since the server is a popular public host with very "standard" settings the trouble could be resolved. Some other FTP-client (but not all) are working properly with this server

In the attachment is the log of uploading the file in an empty directory.

Below is my system parameters:

Windows 7 64-bit AMD Athlon 64 X2

#5426 FileZilla does not reconnect after ECONNABORTED normal outdated 14 years 12 years
Description

Sometimes if I click a folder, I get the message: "Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing"

Yes, I know you're never gonna fix ECONNABORTED, but there are two problems here:

  1. If I have directory sync on and click a local folder in the directory tree pane, that folder still appears selected but the folder isn't changed. This means I have to click somewhere else, then click back again to load the folder.
  2. If I hit F5 then FileZilla reconnects perfectly fine, so this should just be done automatically.

I'm justan ignorant user who doesnt know waht a client or a server is. All I know is that I can use filezilla fine for lots of other machine but not for topcities. Ive asked you before but got no response. Do I need a degree in information technology just to report a bug? Is it really too hard for you to make filezilla work for topcities?

#7867 pdf file data problem normal outdated 12 years 12 years
Description

When I transfer a pdf file via FZ, the file will not work. When I try to open the file online, the following message is received: "Cannot extract the embedded font 'VRHUGW+TT15Ct00'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." After this, everything freezes. When I click okay on the dialog box, the file continues to load and only the header text is garbled. If I use DreamWeaver as FTP for the file everything works fine. Using WinMerge to compare the files says they are identical, yet the one transferred by FZ won't open correctly and the one transferred by DW does open correctly. This only started happening about two months ago. I can upload a copy and give you a link to it so that you can see the behavior if necessary, it is very repeatable.

#7398 Directory listing seems to be limited to 7,998 files normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

When viewing a remote directory FileZilla will display a maximum of 7,998 files. I can log in via SSH and verify there are 17,438 jpg files in the given directory using the command "ls | wc -l".

None of the files hidden by FileZilla are hidden on the server, nor does my FTP login lack the permissions to see them (I use the same login for SSH, and the files are visible there).

This is occurring on a HostMonster.com account. I am unable to test whether this problem is limited to HostMonster.

To reproduce:

  1. Put more than 7,998 files into a directory
  2. Use FileZilla client to list the contents of that directory
  3. Note that only 7,998 are shown

#7162 FileZilla 3.3.5.1 Error: Could not connect to server normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

I just downloaded the update to this version last night to my Desktop Computer (Windows 7 64-bit) and to my laptop (Windows XP Build 2600, Service Pack 3) computers. On BOTH computers, I am now getting a message that says "Error: Could not connect to server" message, no matter what I try to do. I called my Site Host (GoDaddy) and they tried guiding me through, noting that it connected just fine on their side. We tried shutting off my firewalls and various other efforts on their side, to see if they could help me make it work. They finally discovered that it was a problem with the FileZilla program, but that they did not have the updated version in their system to try and see if this problem could be resolved anymore from their side. They then directed for me to contact your company in order to see if this problem could be fixed. Please help me with this right away, as I need to upload dire updates to my company website and cannot do so using the new FileZilla, which was uploaded. This is an EXTREMELY URGENT situation. Thank you very much... Jim

#7901 Refresh/repaint problem in GUI normal outdated 12 years 12 years
Description

I use Filezilla few years. And for these years you still didn't fix this annoying bug: I use layout: Widescreen I use Position of a message log: Above the file list. I use Windows 7 and Windows XP (bug is visible on both). With these settings 'Quickconnect bar' is not refreshed properly during use when new messages are arriving to log (see screen attached, it is hardly visible in the screen, log messages overwrites it). This gives bad GUI experience to the user.

#5708 Unable to install Version 3.3.5.1 normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

Immediately following the successful downloading of 3.3.5.1, I accept the instruction to install and I get "error 5: access is denied" and can proceed no further.

I can go to the downloaded .exe file and begin the install, but then I get "error opening file for writing..... /filezilla.exe

.... Abort-Retry-Ignore"

If I click "Ignore" the install proceeds and finally says the new version is installed.... "do I want to start Filezilla?" I click yes and nothing happens.

I re-launch Filezilla and 3.3.4.1 is still operating (satisfactorily), telling me that a newer version is available.
