#5531 When dragging a file from the local site to the remote site window for uploading the remote file has 0 bytes size. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

After upgrading to the latest Filezilla client today, I cannot seem to upload files to the server any longer. When I select a file to upload and either drag it or put it in the que and upload it, the file shows up in the remote tree, but it has 0 bytes in the size column and does not display on the website.

#5532 add whole time estimation for whole queue list new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

in "transfer queue" view, when i downloading a file, it will show how long the file can be downloaded. for example "00:02:05 elapsed 00:04:57 left...", such prompt message can be seen, it is very good, which can make you known how long you need to wait for downloading for this file.

but, annoyed thing for me, is, that i care about not only for 1 file, but for all files. I want to know, for all files in my queue, how long can I download them all. This is very useful, even more useful for one file downloading time estimation.

I do not know why you guys do not add such a feature. I suggest you can add it.And I suggest the whole downloading time estimation can be shown in right-bottom status zone.

Hope You can accept this feature, and hope i can see it in future version.

#5534 Synchronized browsing dialogs new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi

Submitted when using FileZilla 3.3.4.1 on OSX 10.5 but I think this is the same on Windows.

Action: Select a remote site folder that does not exist in the local site (with synchronized browsing on)

Result: A Synchronized browsing dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist or cannot be accessed. Disable synchronized browsing and continue changing the remote directory? [Yes|No]"

Expected: A dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist in the local site. Would you like FileZilla to create the folder and continue? [Yes|No]". Yes creates the folder and opens it synchronised. No does nothing and leaves the user to decide what to do.

Equally...

Action: Select a local site folder that does not exist in the remote site (with synchronized browsing on)

Result: No message dialog but an error in the log with "Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing"

Expected: A dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist in the remote site. Would you like FileZilla to create the folder and continue? [Yes|No]". Yes creates the folder and opens it synchronised. No does nothing and leaves the user to decide what to do.

all the best Dave

#5537 Cut&Paste/Move feature new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

For Windows user a lot of people used the shortcut key CTRL-X for cut and CTRL-V for paste. I have been using cut & paste in CuteFTP but in the FileZilla I didn't see any cut & paste feature. Please utilize the mv command for this feature. For instance, let say user want to move file1.rar from /public_html/xxx.com/ to /public_html/yyy.com/docs/ He can browse to the dir xxx.com then click file1.rar, press CTRL-X. FileZilla some how store the current path of file1.rar. Then user go to the yyy.com/docs/ dir, then press CTRL-V, Now FileZilla will store the current path then perform the mv command to move the file1 from the previous stored location to the new one.

Sorry about my bad english!

#5540 Drag and drop on remote panel appears to copy, but moves new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FZ v3.3.4.1

When you drag-and-drop in the remote panel, a plus-sign appears, implying that the file will be copied. But actually the file is moved. Holding the Ctrl key down while dragging still results in a move operation.

Get rid if the plus-sign, and preferably make the Ctrl key modify the drag-and-drop behaviour.

#5541 [suggestion] Set priority per tab new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Something that crossed my mind while I was busy with several FTP-connections.

If you have FTP-connections in several tabs, rightclicking the tab allows you to set a priority to that connection.

#5544 Hot keys instead of popups new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Having the right click popup functions for the upload / download menus are great but most all the functions on the menus could use hot keys. Especially view/edit. Although the upload/download have a built in hot keys of double click or drag. Luckly most of the first letters are only used once except for refresh & rename plus create & copy. So here are my hot key suggestions A E O C R N=rename D V F U=Copy Url Fig thats it. Love the software.

#5548 Repeated errors (input_pushback not null) when reconnecting. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When reconnecting to a server after losing my internet connection, or after a timeout, I frequently receive the cryptic error message:

Error: input_pushback not null!

I am not sure what this error means, or what causes it, but retrying always makes it go away. It would be rather nice if the system would do at least one retry of the current operation when this error occurs, thus avoiding the need for both the error message and the manual retry.

#5549 Site-specific Filename Filters new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

This feature request references This Thread.

Currently, it seems as if once you turn a filter on it applies to every site until you turn it back off. What I'd like is to hide directories on a site without needing to worry about enabling/disabling filters every time I connect to a different site. As I've got a couple hundred FTP's, I really want to avoid having to find each one's filter every time I connect.

I envision having a new tab or fieldset in the Site Manager for each site where you can choose from a list of filters to apply by default. e.g. John.com may have Filter A applied by default whereas Jane.com may have Filter B and Filter C applied by default.

#5566 Settings / Transfers / Enable Invalid Character Filtering enhancement new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been trying to upload some directories and files to my yahoo small business ( YSB ) account but every time YSB gets a directory or filename with a space in it, it refuses it and the upload fails with a "Critical file transfer error" - "553-Names must contain only ASCII letters (a-z,A-Z), digits (0-9), underscore, dot and dash." They don't like spaces in filenames :-(

First - I think we need to be able to have the invalid characters feature apply to Uploads, not only downloads.

Second - It would be nice to be able to specify which characters to replace instead of having them hardcoded to \/:*?"<>| That way we could add a space and have it be converted to an underscore during the upload. Or at least expand the hardcoded invalid characters by adding a space.

#5598 Speed limit per User new Feature request normal FileZilla Server

#5600 Exclude IPs and IP ranges from logging new Feature request normal FileZilla Server
Description

It would be nice to be able to exclude certain IPs or IP ranges from logging so that activity from monitoring and load balancer systems could be excluded from the log files.

Other than that this is the greatest FTP server product out there!

#5604 FileZilla client is not high-DPI aware on Windows reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla is not high-DPI aware on Windows 7 or Vista. This means that if you set your PC's display resolution to the maximum supported, and compensate for the resulting small default GUI font by increasing the DPI setting, FileZilla's text is blurred because it is raster scaled. This is explained in the following tutorial:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd464659(VS.85).aspx

To reproduce on Windows 7:

  1. Right click the desktop and choose Screen Resolution.
  2. Make sure that it is set to its recommended value.
  3. From Control Panel, choose Display.
  4. Under "Make it easier to read what's on your screen", select "Larger - 150%".
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Log off and log on again.
  7. Start FileZilla and observe that the text on its UI is blurred.

The solution may be as simple as linking in the attached manifest file and testing that all text still fits in objects such as buttons, so I hope you'll try it. It'll help those of us getting presbyopia to put off the day when we need spectacles to read the screen!

#5605 Split Buttons for Filter and Comparison buttons new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

The filter and comparison buttons both have two functions.

For consistency with the Site Manager button I suggest that those buttons use Split buttons

#5610 Option to disable/enable all Default Local Directories in Site Manager new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

On Windows Filezilla startup or connection to a site where the default local directory configured in Site Manager is not available Filezilla hangs for minutes while OS attempts access.

As to my knowledge the timeout is enforced by Windows I humbly request some means of flagging off/on Filezilla attempting to open the directory configured in Site Manager for all My Sites.

Eg. At office and connected to NAS/mapped drives. USE DLD -> ON At home and NOT connected to NAS/mapped drives. USE DLD -> OFF

#5611 tab display - blank space, widths, info new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

A minor issue...

When many tabs are open, FZ indicates unseen tabs to the left or right by means of a little arrow. (Aside: This arrow is grayed out when at the end of the list, but I'd prefer a much lighter shade of gray, as mine appears nearly black.)

Open a bunch of tabs, so that there are many unseen tabs to the left. Now close the rightmost tabs. Instead of unseen tabs coming into view from the left, blank space remains where the now-closed tabs formerly sat. Only when the last visible tab to the right is closed is a set of leftward tabs then brought into view. It would be nicer to maximize the number of viewable tabs as each is closed.

On the issue of maximizing the view, it would also be nice to be able to set the width (in characters) of the tab, in case a user can tolerate more, but shorter, tabs.

Finally, it would be great to have a customizable tab display using formatted fields, as with date and time, by creating a spot at Settings/Interface/Tabs. Presently, the display is of the form "Sitename - Server" (perhaps this might be indicated by a format string "%n - %s", e.g.). My server is always the same, so I have a lot of wasted characters on my tabs. For me, "Sitename-Remote folder" (%n-%r) would be far preferable, as I often wander from my original folder, leaving me several tabs with the same display, open to different folders. Long info could appear in the dropdown widget at the right (I love that thing), while compressed versions can be shown on the tabs (e.g., "FaveSite-.../Here/Now").

This is the sort of request that shows a user is spoiled rotten, which in turn indicates the already excellent state of a program.

Thanks,

Rick Mabry

#5617 preserve timestamps option not working on directories. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

hi,

when the preserve timestamps is enabled, and when uploading a directory with some sub directories inside, the existing directories of my local filesystem are not modified. (of course it's ok for my files as filezilla is a great app, developped by great guys)

it's not a big deal..

but maybe an option could be added for the timestamp option : 'ignore directories timestamp' in some case it would be very helpful for my eyes and my backup/restore ops.

kind regards,

#5618 After Action Queue Completion - Remove Remote File new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Is there a way to add to the "After Action Queue completion" the command to Remove Remote File?

I have used, run cmd , then use rm "/part/file.file" after completion.

The ability to select multiple files for transfer, then on completion, the client remove the remote file from remote site... I would love to see that feature added.

I transfer all the time using FileZilla, both work and pleasure. Thank you for such a great sftp solution!

#5622 One click file backup new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I just thought about how often do we have to do backups, and it's actually pretty routine process, you have to copy file to your server, rename it, edit with w.e. you want and then upload it back.

What i suggest is adding an option to context menu, which with one click will make a backup file on server (same folder as the source file is located), it will copy the file with name like 'filename_bak.php'. This will make more people do backups.

#5629 SSL cert "not yet valid" for current day new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

#5663 File type display during file transfer new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

During multiple file transfers, it would be good to know what type of file transfer is being used for each file. Can the window at the bottom of filezilla client that currently displays file transfer status (green bar etc.) also display a column with file transfer type for each file?

#5666 File Mask feature new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Please add a new File Mask feature for each open session to allow display of files based on masking pattern. This new feature should be directly available on the session interface, not buried in the menu. One placement option is right next to the Site directory box.

In a directory where there may be hundreds of files, this feature will be very handy to reduce the long list of files displayed and can help quickly locate them.

The existing Filename Filters is a good feature, but cannot handle random filename selection as quickly and easily as a File Mask.

A typical file mask example can be found on WS-FTP client. I have to switch to WS-FTP every time when I need to use the file mask feature.

Thank-you.

#5674 Make it so I don't have to confirm upload of remotely edited file new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I choose "View/Edit" on a file, then edit in my editor, then save, FileZilla asks me to confirm uploading the changed file. I would like an option to not have to confirm, to make editing a remote file much more like editing a local file.

#5676 Shortcut CMD+ARROW_DOWN on MacOSX new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Summary: The shortcut CMD+ARROW_DOWN on the Mac should open files and directories, instead of transferring files.

Description: On Mac OsX, when the CMD and ARROW_DOWN key are pressed, the selected file will be downloaded. Everywhere else on the Mac, CMD+ARROW_DOWN is used to open the highlighted file or to enter the highlighted directory. I've made this mistake numerous times, to accidentally enqueue thousands of files from the server, when I just wanted to open a directory. This is particularly frustrating because on the Mac, the interface basically hangs while transfers are in progress, so there is no way to stop it.

#5677 Problem with fast connection if username is equal to 'anonymous' new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When you use "fast connection", and the username is 'anonymous' (but you're not using an anonymous access), when you enter a password, the same password is changed and the client cannot connect.

Example: address: 10.20.30.40 username: anonymous password: hightower <-- this is changed to the default one when you try to connect

#5685 File Filters: Add More Dates Options (ie: Files Modified TodaY) new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I think that would be very useful to have the possibility to filter "all the files that have been modified Today", where today is not a date "as 2010-11-12" but is the actual date: i was editing something last night filtering all the files edited on 2010-11-12.

After midnight all the file disappeared (after midnight it was already 2010-11-13). It took a while to understand that that was the reason (I was very tired) but the point is that I have to change that filter every day!

While using a filter that allows to set dates as: + modified today + modified this week + modified last week + ... it would be faster (just set it ony the first time and it would last forever).

#5688 Server certificate needs to be accepted twice new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I connecto to a server with FTPES, I get the dialog to confirm the certificate. I check "always trust" and click ok, but when I download the first file, I get asked again.

I think this problem started with version 3.3.4 or 3.3.5. It also appears that my cached trusted server certificates are not kept between updates.

#5690 Better way to display errors new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Whenever you carry out actions through Filezilla, it's difficult to see if there were errors.

For example if you selected 20 files to delete but only 19 were successfully deleted, how do you know? An error flashes past on the message log but you'll almost certainly miss it. The same goes for a lot of operations. Even with transfers it's easy to miss the "Failed Transfers" tab.

You should replace the message list and transfer panels with one single operations panel, showing you the things being done, and if they were successful. Perhaps with important lines such as errors bubbling to the top.

The message list is pretty useless for 99% of the time. I mean, how is "Command: PASV" or "Response: 226-Options: -a -l" useful to most people?

#5699 Handling of symbolic links on Server site new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

In the settings you have selected und 'File lists' that the 'double click action on files' is 'NONE'. When you have symbolic links on the server and you then double click the link the linked file is transfered with the name of the link. For us expected behaviour would be that nothing happens.

The behaviour is only experienced under Windows 7 !

#5701 Uploading large file fails, strange progress bar behavior new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I've seen this problem with several servers: when uploading a large file (e.g. 20 MB), FileZilla seems to starts uploading and then it's instantly at 100% (upload speed specifying 10 or 20 MB/s which isn't even possible with my connection).

Then it waits for a while (I think it is now in fact uploading actual data, even though it indicated it was already at 100%).

Then after a while it either says it's finished, but the file is uploaded only partially most of the time. Or it says "are you sure want to overwrite?" and then showing a smaller destination file (which didn't exist previously), i.e. it uploaded the file partially and now wants to restart, asking to overwrite the existing remote file (remote file = the part which it just uploaded).

Here's an FTP account in which I can reproduce this problem almost every single time:

host = ftpes://ftp.servage.net name = test86413 pasw = Test123 server type: FTPES (explicit TLS/SSL) (using default port 21)

I've just tested again with v3.3.5 (windows client), and it happened every attempt when I upload a 20 MB file.

I've seen this before with other servers as well, but this is the first time it occurs on a server on which I can easily make a test account for you to debug with.

Hope this helps!!

#5704 Drag files to FTP shortcut uploads files automatically new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Would be good if an FTP site, incl. target folder could be represented as a shortcut in a folder so dragging and dropping a file on the shortcut uploads the file to the specifiec FTP site/folder, like dropping file on a folder shortcut in Win OS (or any OS). It saves time from starting FZ, selecting site, browse to folder, upload etc.

#6193 Allow long path names reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Server

#6194 Proxy Import Problem new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hey,

In your newest version of FileZilla Client (3.3.5.1) and also in the previous version (3.3.4.1) there is this bug. But in version 3.3.3 it works.

The problem appears when i try to import FTP-servers and proxy-settings by using the import function under the drop-down-menu „File“. The import of the FTP-Servers works great but the imported Proxy-Settings get lost after restarting FileZilla. The problem is on the following settings; the “FTP Proxy” and also the “Generic proxy”.

Some experiments have shown that the new settings won’t be stored in the filezilla.xml (%appdata%\FileZilla\filezilla.xml). By typing in the Proxy Settings manually it will work, but not by importing the settings via the import-feature.

I have discovered and tested this problem with Windows 7 Enterprise x64 once on a Intel core 2 duo and once on a virtual machine on my PC via WMware Player and a third time I tested it in a virtual machine inside of an ESX-Server always with Windows 7 Enterprise x64 -> every time the same problem.

I hope you can fix the problem.

If you need further information, just tell me!

#6199 sending files directly from explorer and have the link copyed automatically new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi, I'am a speaker that produces from hit's own studio, and often I use filezilla client to put my files onto the ftp and send the link via email to my customers. I've been thinking in a facility to send files directly from explorer and copying the destination link into the clipboard. I imagine this: by selecting one or more files, when I click "send to ftp" from the folder context menu', filezilla compresses all the files in a single zip and then send it to an ftp, into a folder that follows the local disk folder structure. For example, if the file that I have to send is in c:\recordings and is called 1.mp3, I click on 1 with the right mouse button from the folder windows, I select "send to ftp" and it compress and then uploads the file in a folder called recordings, without showing windows. After the process is complete, the http destination link (partially defined by the user) is copied onto the clipboard and a beep or a popup can warn the user about the successful operation.

This adds to filezilla the capability of compressing files that is present into other softwares, and 2 to me is a very useful facilityto send link to files via email, like dropbox but with a own domain or server. Can it be done?

#6496 Limit number of downloads by file volume new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi!

FileZilla has an option to limit the number of files uploaded/downloaded at a time. Though very useful, this does not always meet factual requirements.

In the case that I download or upload large files (e.g. a server backup), I would like to transmit only one or two at a time. Same for downloading. While, when up/downloading many small files (e.g. html files) then the overhead takes much time and I would like to start a lot of transfers at a time.

Therefore I request the feature to additionally limit the number of file transfers by file size, e.g. "Limit concurrent downloads to [1] GB". So if I usually would like to limit to 5 files, but FileZilla find two files of 500 MB then it shall wait with further downloads until one of them has been transferred.

Thanks for reading :)

#6501 A file with that name is already being transferred new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I was downloading some php file using the veiw/edit function, before the file was fully downloaded I unchecked the "Process Queue" from the queued files list and then deleted it from the list using the delete button. Now when I enter the view/edit function again a popup window appears telling that "A file with that name is already being transferred". I think this is a bug because the file should be transformed because I deleted it from the list.

#6506 Local Site or Remote Site Cardex Ability new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I am using Win-7/64 Professional. I have version 3.3.5.1 installed.

Description: When I click in the Local Site or Remote Site list areas and press a key on the keyboard to go to that letter of the directory, nothing happens, I am not advanced to that letter of the directory. However, in the FileName lists, the cardex functionality does work and pressing a keyboard letter does take me to that filename or folder letter.

What It should Do: I think that the functionality in the FileName list is correct. You click in that file name area and type a letter of the file or folder that you want to jump to and it takes you there. The Local Site / Remote Site lists should behave the same way.

I would think that the code to do this is already done and in the FileName area of the code. Perhaps make that a function to call from any of the list-box areas for cardex behavior.

Other Examples: Windows Explorer behaves correctly

Thank you for your time.

#6514 Fix locale names new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Translation locale names should not use country part without reason. Its use makes impossible to use translation in other countries that use the same language.

Country part should be used only in these conditions:

  • You already have "canonical" translation (e. g. de_DE, fr_FR) done and you want to translate to a country specific dialect.
  • You need to use country specific strings.

#6516 remove drive letter from local directory new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Problem.

I've currently synced the sitemanager.xml file across my windows and linux computers (using Dropbox). I have also setup apache home directories to run off /www (on linux) and c:/www (on windows). Therefore all settings are the same.

When using syncronised directories in filezilla, one version has c:/www and other other uses /www which means they are different and breaks the synchronisation on one of my computers.

Solution

It would be great if the windows machine read the drive letter separately which means the path was /www on both machines allowing a completely synced working sitemanager.xml file.

#7155 Minimize and Manual Transfer use same keyboard shortcut new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Using the latest stable release for Mac OS X. FZ is using Command + M to both minimize the app to the dock (This may be a global shortcut on OSX.) and to bring up the manual transfer window.

I'm required to do a lot of manual transfers from a blind ftp site, for some reason I can only use FileZilla, terminal doesn't even work. Definitely not critical, but slight annoyance

#7157 Connecting to a B&R PLCs FTP results in an error after successfully requesting the current directory reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I tryed to Connect to an FTP which runs on an B&R Programming Logical Controller (PLC).

(1) If i used the Anonymous User to log in, FileZilla successfuly connects to the C: Partition on the CF Installed in the PLC. But in this mode i can't change to the F: Partition. Short-Log: Befehl: CWD F: -> Antwort: 550 Guest access denied.

(2) So i tryed to use an Username (User: 1) with the Password (Pass: 1). This results in an Error after successfuly requesting the current directory. Short-Log: Antwort: 257 Current directory is "C:" Fehler: Verzeichnisinhalt konnte nicht empfangen werden

(3) If i use WS_FTP the whole thing works, so i thought the Log-File could give you interessting informations ... so i also added it. Connecting with User:1 and Pass:1

Would be happy if i can work with FileZilla in the Future, because of its other functions.

The Full Logs are in the File attached to this ticket.

#7178 directory listing is not always refreshed after uploading a file accepted Rahul Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • connect to a server
  • wait some time, so the connection times out
  • upload a file: filezilla will automatically reconnect in order to upload the file
  • wait until the upload finishes

Expected result:

  • the remote directory listing should automatically be refreshed and you should see the file you just uploaded

Observed result:

  • the remote directory listing is NOT refreshed, and you don't see the file you just uploaded

In the console window where you see all the commands and responses, you do see a message saying "directory listing succesfull", so I guess filezilla does retrieve the listing but it fails to show the updated directory listing in the display on the right.

If you manually refresh using the refresh button, then you'll see the directory listing refreshed including the just uploaded file.

This only happens when you upload a file after the connection has timed out (and filezilla automatically reconnects). If you are already connected when you do the upload, then the refresh does work correctly and you seen the refreshed list as soon as the upload is finished.

#7192 Other protocols for FileZilla client new Feature request normal FileZilla Client

What if FileZilla could be used as a download manager for browsers? It could either hook into the browser, and be set to the default download manager; or, perhaps when you right-click a link, you could have the option of "Download with FileZilla"?

#7197 Auto-refresh remote file listing when transferring new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I tried to download a file from my FTP server when another user had finished uploading it. FileZilla still showed a file size of 12 MB because I hadn't refreshed it, so for the actual download of 20 MB it took "more than 100%".

Maybe FZ should automatically refresh the file listing before estimating download times.

#7199 Opens in Previous Extended Desktop Location After Monitor Orientation Change new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The situation is that I use a laptop at multiple locations with an external monitor and extended desktop (not mirrored). One of the locations the orientation of the external monitor is to the right of the laptop and the other location has the external monitor above the laptop. With the monitor specified to the right, I open Filezilla and drag it to the external monitor. Closing and then opening Filezilla will cause it to open in the extended monitor. If I now close Filezilla and either change the relationship so that the external monitor is above the laptop or move to the other location, and then open Filezilla, the Filezilla window will open in the non-existent right hand extended desktop. In order to rectify, I need to to change the orientation so that the external monitor is specified to the right and then drag Filezilla back to the laptop. Other apps open in the laptop screen after the orientation change.

To reproduce: 1)using an external monitor specified as extended desktop and side by side, open Filezilla in the main window and move to external monitor. 2) Close Filezilla 3) Change orientation of monitors so that the external monitor is above main desktop. 4) open Filezilla 5) Filezilla will open in the previous location and cannot be seen. 6) change orientation of monitors to be side by side and Filezilla will be displayed.

#7215 Auto-expanding remote view on transfer new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

This is related to (but not a duplicate of) #2745

When working with sites that have several levels and copious subfolders, I simply do not want the remote view to expand every directory. It's really annoying and the only way to collapse them all is to restart Filezilla.

Suggestions:

  • Have an option "do not automatically expand remote view"

or failing that:

  • Have a simple "collapse/expand all" button on the remote view

Many thanks.

#7216 compare files before edit new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I work on servers with multiple developers and we don't have a good solution in place for that. A great feature would be when you click the edit button it compares the date of your local file to the date of the remote file and if the remote file is newer than the local file it brings up a prompt and asks you if you want to download the remote file before editing. This should have an ability to turn this on or off in settings.

Thanks for the great product!

#7220 Add row of navigation buttons above both local and remote listings new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It would be massively useful to have a row of navigation buttons above side of the listings.

These would include, but perhaps not be limited to: Up, Back, Up-To-Root-Of-Listing (i.e. the FZ entry point for this session, not the root of the folder/directory structure), Refresh.

Often I have listings on each side that are hundreds of files long. I have gone most of the way down one or both sides. To get back to the top or to the containing folder/directory, I have to slide up or page up or something on each side. When using many times a day, it adds up to a lot of unnecesssary mousing around.

#7232 sftp implementation presumes a fixed size buffer of 32KB for transfer of data to client new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If the server does not return exactly 32KB of data the following error is generated: error while reading: received a short buffer from FXP_READ, but not at EOF - The specific issue is around line 1331 of sftp.c. There is a rather broad comment on 1289 in which the developer was unsure how to handle a short read. - The RFC is a bit fuzzy in describing this case (section 8.2.1): " However, the server MAY respond with less data if EOF is reached, an error is encountered, or the servers internal buffers can not handle such a large request. " I believe the key point is "MAY respond with less if the servers internal buffer cannot handle such a large request" is sufficient broad that the client should not assume that fewer than 'length' bytes is indeed EOF or an error. - I'm unsure about windows API; but for variants of UNIX (including linux) this closely follows the read API in which the implementation is free to return fewer than N bytes (hence the return values indicate the number of bytes read). While typically synchronous reads will indeed return N bytes they are not required to do so. - Anyways we ran into this issue when the server did in fact return fewer bytes and the client (filezilla) abruptly exited. - Following the above convention we believe the loop should be written as:

while(toread > 0 ) {

n = read(buf,MIN(bufsize,toread); if( n indicate error ) error; toread -= n;

} rather than while(toread > 0 ) {

n = read(buf,MIN(bufsize,toread); if( n != MIN(bufsize,toread) ) error;

} - Here is the code from the standard linux sftp.c client: - code to actually read the data: while (total_read < buffer_maxlen) { bytes_requested = buffer_maxlen - total_read; *(s++) = SSH_FXP_READ;

request_id = sftp->request_id++;

. . retcode = _libssh2_channel_write(channel, 0, (char *) packet,

packet_len)

retcode =

sftp_packet_requirev(sftp, 2,read_responses,

request_id, &data, &data_len);

. .

case SSH_FXP_DATA:

bytes_read = _libssh2_ntohu32(data + 5);

if (bytes_read > (data_len - 9)) {

sftp->read_packet = NULL; sftp->read_state = libssh2_NB_state_idle; return -1;

}

#ifdef LIBSSH2_DEBUG_SFTP

_libssh2_debug(session, LIBSSH2_TRACE_SFTP, "%lu bytes returned",

(unsigned long) bytes_read);

#endif

memcpy(buffer + total_read, data + 9, bytes_read); handle->u.file.offset += bytes_read; total_read += bytes_read; LIBSSH2_FREE(session, data); /*

  • Set the state back to allocated, so a new one will be
  • created to either request more data or get EOF */

sftp->read_state = libssh2_NB_state_allocated;

#7234 Number of connections to set per server new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

The number of simultanious connections to any given server should be settable individually per destination server. Indeed, it may well be that one server can sustain many simultaneous connections while another may support only a few. Therefore, it would be better if there were an option in the server profile to set this number.

#7235 Round-robin distribute queued transfers to multiple servers new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When the queue of transfers contains transfers that are destined to or from more than one server, it would be more optimal to process the transfers in such an order that the different servers would be used in a round-robin fashion. Parallelism can thus be increased without increasing the number of simultaneous connections to any given server.

#7237 Upload to Temporary Filename new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi!

I would like to recommend a feature to upload files using a temporary filename and thn rename the files after the queue is completed.

Okay, this sounds a bit strange at first glance. So let me explain why this feature would be very worthy: I have a PHP web application that is used nearly 24h a day. Whenever fixing a bug or uploading a new subversion, PHP uses the incomplete files and - consequently - the script crashes.

If a file would be uploaded to a temporary name, first, and then replace the original file in a second step, there would be no incomplete files in the program structure. If this was possible for whole queues, even the time when there are files from different program version, could be reduced by about 95%.

I admit that for citical systems, one would upload the whole application into a temporary folder and then rename the folder manually. However, for most not-so-critical applications, the upload-to-temp would be very helpful. For citical systems the manual step (provoking handling errors) would become superfluous.

Thank you BurninLeo

#7241 config option to select a private keyfile from pageant per server new Axel Huizinga Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Actually filezilla seems to accept only the private keyfile stored in the default settings from putty. The log shows that it checks only this one and not all keys added to pageant - so I always have to change putty's default settings if I want to access a server with a different keyfile. It will be more convenient to allow the preselection of the keyfile in the servermanager for each account separately. Maybe this could be achieved in a similar way like pscp which accepts a commandline like this one which I use from a perl script to update a file directly from an SciTE or Geany: pscp.exe -i keyfile -l user "localpath" host:remotepath. If the keyfile is loaded in pageant it will be used without an additional passphrase request.

#7250 Server time stamp wrong new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Client version 3.3.5.1 When I upload a file the timestamp shown on the server is one (1) hour off. I have had the issue twice, both times after the change to/from DST. Looking at the signon log I see that the system calls mtime with the name of a file on the server as an argument. Actually the first time it was a file the second time it was a folder name. I was able to fixed the problem both times by uploading new versions of the respective files.

#7252 filezilla client does not work connecting to Stratus VOS new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The log shows: Status: Resolving address of Stratus Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.237:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 stratus FTP server (FTP 1.0 for Stratus STCP) ready. (Compatible with OS TCP/IP) Command: USER dave Response: 331 Password required for dave. Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

I am presuming that the problem is the path separator of '>' rather than the more common '/' or '\'

#7255 Action after queue completion - add custom action & select multiple actions new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I have the following suggestions for the "Action after queue completion" option:

  1. It would be great if there was an option to manage custom commands so that I could permanently add them to the list of possible actions. E.G. let's say I always need to run the command C:\RUN.BAT after every queue - If I could give this a name (RUNME) and add the command to the standard available list I wouldn't have to manually type it every time.
  1. Less important than the first option - but sometimes I need to run the run.bat command, and then shutdown the pc, or run another runme2.bat command - I know I can build a 3rd bat command which does all - but certain combinations are not possible. The ability to run more than one action would be great too. Some sort of multiple action manager would be needed thou' as sometimes I would need to wait for the first command to finish - so for example I would need to insert a 5 minute delay between issuing the run.bat command and the shutdown command!

Cheers!

#7259 File Date/Time Preservation Again new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Good Morning:

I've read the previous posts, and I do realize that the default FTP protocol does not support file date/time preservation. I also realize that not all FTP servers support MDTM. The problem is that if an updated file is uploaded to a web server only one short minute after it's been saved, FileZilla's compare-by-date feature is rendered useless because the uploaded file will have a later time stamp.

For those of us who do use web/ftp servers that do support MDTM, and I'm sure there are many, *please* reconsider adding this feature to FileZilla. If file date/time preservation was among FileZilla's many other features, it would be the *perfect* FTP program, in my opinion.

#7290 if deepest directory in local pane is deleted, filezilla should try parent directory recursively before defaulting to filesystem root new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla remembers the local directory path from the last time you ran FileZilla. But if the deepest local directory is deleted, it instead defaults to the filesystem root, which I think is far from optimal.

Let's say that the last local directory was: /home/username/Desktop/example.com/store/

And some time between closing FileZilla and opening it again, you delete the "store" directory.

FileZilla's current behavior is to set the local path to filesystem root: /

Whereas I think it would be a lot nicer if FileZilla placed the user in the closest parent directory possible, in this case: /home/username/Desktop/example.com/

#7291 "Already connected" dialog does not give checkbox option to "always do this" new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The "Already connected" dialog asks if the user wants to abort the previous connection or open the new connection in a tab. It does not give a checkbox option to automatically apply that choice in future instances, which makes the dialog a needless prompt for users who would always make the same choice.

#7301 Uninstall shortcut new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Please can you refrain from creating uninstaller shortcuts in the start menu with future installers.

The purpose of the start menu is for shortcuts for accessing/running applications, not for performing maintenance on them. In the same way it would be a bad idea to clutter the desktop with them, wouldn't it!

Placing them in the start menu adds clutter and it makes them more accessible to novice users who often need protecting from themselves, increasing the burden on those that may maintain their computers for them - either because we have to answer questions about what the hell it is that they've just opened, or actually having to reinstall software. It also discourages novices from exploring the applications available to them in their start menu when such things clutter it and provide potential pitfalls.

It is much better that uninstallers for all programs are kept in one central location - within the uninstall software page of the control panel.

#7306 File listing in "External site" keeps refreshing/changing during transfer new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

#7320 Bad Packet Length or Corrupted MAC on input uploading large files new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been having this problem for a while and am finally getting around to reporting it. This is happening on one specific computer, and only happens on files larger than a certain size (somewhere around 87Kb it would start happening, but inconsistently). The same files would transfer every time with another SFTP program on the same computer and would transfer with FileZilla 3.4.0 on another computer (both Windows 7 SP1 64-bit). This is transferring to a shared computer at DreamHost. Attached are logs of my testing.

#7321 Binary instead of ASCII transfer of text files from Windows to Unix servers new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Using a Windows Filezilla (3.4.0) client, transferring ASCII files to Unix based servers (over secure port 22) are transferred as BINARY.

This is the same as reported in ticket #5378.

I understand the developer's argument made in #5378 (the protocol doesn't support it) -- but my request is to have the FileZilla client strip the <control>-M's from the blob before transferring to the server. This is seemingly trivial to implement (look at dos2unix source).

As noted in the other bug report, other clients (such as WinSCP, just tested) are able to transfer these files correctly.

Please reconsider #5378, and fix this bug (even if you want to call it a feature).

#7322 Wrong folder for preferences new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla stores it's settings in a hidden folder called ".filezilla" directly in the user folder.

On OSX there is a special folder called "~/Library/Preferences" for user defined preferences. And the "Application Support" is for all the things that are needed by FileZilla to work.

To make backups, etc. more easy FileZilla should use this places for storing it's data.

#7338 ASCII Mode Enhancement Request new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I've come across a situation that can't be all that uncommon, in which the FileZilla client's ASCII mode is insufficient.

Like many people I use Cygwin with Windows. When I create a text file using Cygwin Emacs, it's a UNIX file (EOL = LF). When I then try to use the Windows client to transmit the file in ASCII mode, it doesn't get converted to NetASCII's EOL = CRLF because the client only knows about Windows text files (EOL = CRLF).

There's an analogous situation under Linux, which can mount drives having different filesystems including Windows drives. When I try to send a Windows file using the Linux client I have the same difficulty (presumably, although I haven't tried this one).

What's needed is a way to specify which conversions to make when sending ASCII files: CR, LF, and/or CRLF (which is just passed through). I suppose the OS default EOL should always be converted.

And on receiving ASCII files, a way to control what to use for EOL: CR, LF, or CRLF.
