#13090 A Plea for Harmony in Design: Addressing Filezilla's Logo Dimensions on macOS Dock new Feature request critical FileZilla Client
Description

I love Filezilla and use it all the time.

Yet, amidst my admiration, there lies a stark visual discord that mars the seamless aesthetic of my macOS dock.

Unlike other companies whose logos elegantly conform to the requisite dimensions, the Filezilla icon stands as a glaring outlier.

The width and height are not correct.

Could you kindly adjust the dimensions of your logo? With heartfelt thanks.

#614 Extremely bad performance with drive mappings reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

On machines with drive mappings from a server on a "not-so-quick" network (200kB/s), FileZilla starts having huge performance issues. The following symptoms I noticed:

  • very slow start times when multiple large drives are

mapped (I'm talking about minutes)

  • slow browsing over the mapped drives. 1-4 directory

entries per second, where the windows explorer manages a least a hundred times that.

#803 Hardcoded colour issues with dark themes accepted Tawach Bug report normal FileZilla Server
Description

The current versions of FileZilla and the FileZilla Server Interface have some colour issues. I recently changed my computer's colour scheme to be mainly white-on-black. Unfortunately it seems some of the text has been hardcoded to black, so I can't see any of it!

Is it possible to have it use the Windows theme-colours, or provide a customization option somewhere?

#3836 Unable to download/delete a directory if all its contents are filtered assigned Luke Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I know about this bug very long time and I have still hoped that this bug will be fixed in new a release but I have mistaken. :)

So where is the problem ? I will write how reproduce the bug.

Create direcory e.g. test/ and in this direcory create directory .svn/ (or file .svn), turn on "Directory listing filters" and create filter which will filter .svn direcory(or file) and try upload this direcory. Filezilla doesn't upload this directory.

It works with any number of filtered items. But if directory contain some or only one unfiltered dir or file, then the directory will be uploaded.

It affects downloading as well and when You try delete that directory with filtered dir or files on FTP!, Filezilla doesn't delete that folder.

#3891 Response to a PWD command from Unisys Libra host is no longer accepted new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

In 3.1.3 client I can no longer establish a connection with a Unisys Libra host. This used to work on 3.0.9.2. The issue seems to be that the format of the reponse to a PWD command appears no longer to be accepted. The response will be something like

257 "(MOUNTFORD) ON ERSTE" is the current working directory.

A Filezilla trace shows Trace: ControlSocket.cpp(356): Failed to parse returned path. caller=0p17025c0

and the connection is broken. Trace of an attempt to connect to a host 'ucscahu' shown below.

#3947 AS400 zero file size on send for small files new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Whenever I send small files (less than 6 kb, maybe more) to the AS400 server, they will have zero file size (ie. empty). There is no difference between binary and text files.

This happens on several AS400 hosts of the same type.

I access them using a Juniper VPN client. ("Windows Secure Application Manager")

See filezilla log file for details.

#3971 Possible bug with "overwrite if file sizes are different" on large queues new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been trying to upload a gigantic directory of 98,000 pdf files, about 150gb worth. I don't expect filezilla to play nice with queues of this size. However I am in the process of double checking that all the files made it and when I select a chunk of about 10,000 files and then choose "overwrite if file sizes are different" it seems to error out everytime. It starts to run through the queue then after a few seconds it errors out with the Microsoft send a bug report message. When I try the same chunk of files and I choose "skip" files that are the same it runs ok.

I am using 3.1.5 I am using FTP.

#4048 File path disappears when trying to edit history new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

To recreate:

  1. Click the arrow in either "local site" or "remote site" boxes.
  2. Press up/down to select a previous path from your history.
  3. Using only the keyboard (i.e. don't click in the box) type a different path, or press right add a subfolder to the path.

If you press Enter here the path will just disappear from the box, rather than opening the path you've typed in the box.

#4108 Disconnects resetting the elapsed time stat. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Is there any reason why disconnects should reset the elapsed time?

It would make sense for a user-initiated disconnect to reset the timer, but server timeouts / auto-reconnects should not reset the timer. This resetting basically makes the elapsed time stat useless, especially for transferring large files.

Maybe this should also be a feature request to have this as a changeable option for the user?

#4122 mainframe file directory omits tape (EBCDIC) files from display reopened Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla version is 3.1.6, build date 12/2/08

After logging in to a VM system and displaying a file directory, the detail list of files in the remote system's directory is incomplete.

It appears that the names of native files (EBCDIC) don't display. Names of ASCII text files do display.

No filters are in use (none are set up).

We know that this is a FileZilla problem, not a permissions or other issue, because we can view all of the files using a commercial product called WS_FTP which is similar to FileZilla. Our intent is to use FileZilla to perform binary downloads of data files from the mainframe to our network.

The FTP connection is accomplished through a Cisco VPN. ZoneAlarm firewall is running on our client Windows 2000 PC (ZoneAlarm is required by the host).

#4235 "Treat files without extension as ASCII file" should be unchecked by default reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

With this option checked by default,

  • Copying C:\NTLDR fails because it's copied as ASCII
  • Copying /bin/ls fails
  • Backing up a CMS that encrypts the filenames of attached files (=>with no extension) fails

ASCII convertion is file modification. Files without extension are of unknown type. Modifying files of unknown type is really something that shouldn't be default behavior.

I'm reporting this bug after having ~2000 corrupted files because of it. And I discovered that the files were corrupted after a week, so even my backup is corrupted. ASCII convertion for binary files corrupts them irreversibly, please don't do it by default.

#4300 SFTP Timeout/Disconnect not disconnecting filezilla new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Im having an issue with Timeout's in SFTP (and have been since 3.0)

Basicly if the server connection expires/timeout's filezilla dosent know. so if i ls it works, then ls in over a minite it dosent. see log:

Status: Directory listing successful one min later... Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: ls Error: Network error: Software caused connection abort Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

I can get around this by going to "Server->Cancel current operation", "Server->Disconnect", "Server->Connect" then retrying my command :)

This is a bit of a hassle though, so if could be fixed in a later release that would be great!

Thanks,

Complistic.

#4340 priority ignored if new files added to queue new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

#4347 Default file exists action on Queued Files not selected upon succeding open of dialog box new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

I noticed this while I was trying to fix my problem with bug #4346 http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/4346.

I know this is a bug because if I remember right, this was working a couple of versions back.

What happens is (or rather what not happens), when you override the "Default file exists action" on the root of the list (the one with the ftp user/server name) and open it again, it will select again the "use default action" even though you have selected otherwise (for example "Skip").

I hope this get fixed because it gets confusing when your doing a lot of file uploads.

#4398 Focusing local directory tree clears UNC path from local site new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

To repeat:

  1. Ensure the local directory tree is visible
  2. Enter a UNC path into the "local site" text box
  3. Press Tab

This gives focus to the local directory control, which changes the local site back to the selected item in the tree clearing the UNC path. This is annoying for both keyboard navigation and for changing to a subfolder of the UNC path.

Ideally, the local directory tree should include the "Network" folder that appears in explorer and the UNC path you entered should appear within it so you can use this control to navigate to subfolders.

If this isn't feasible, merely giving this control focus without changing the selected item shouldn't change the "local site" folder.

#4439 'File permissions...' / 'Change file attributes' dialog inconsistency new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Small usability / consistency issue:

'File permissions...' context option opens a dialog that is labelled 'Change file attributes' - it would be better for usability if these were named consistently.

#4451 Synchronized Browsing does not update local listing after upload is complete. reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

During an upload (or download?), mostly on quick 1 file uploads), you are allowed to navigate the local file tree. When the upload is completed, the selected directory is updated on the ftp server side, but the local side does not update and remains. causing you to have to selected a different directory, then going to the one you wanted.

I am not sure if this is a synchronized issue, or a file-zilla bug, because the remote side does update correctly.

#4497 Reset and reque doesn't work properly new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

If for some reason there's a problem transferring a file (for example drive full or connection timeout to server) it's moved to the "Failed transfers" tab. However, when I select the files and click "Reset and re queue files" or whatever is named, the files are moved back to the queue but they don't begin to resume.

For example, if Filezilla is configured to use three download threads and I transfer three files and one file transfer fails, the other two threads continue to download.

If I click "Reset and reque..", file gets moved back to the queue but Filezilla doesn't resume the file. If I want it to be resumed, I actually have to click on Process queue to stop all, and click Process queue again to have it resume. Or, I could just delete from the queue a file above the requeued and Filezilla will pop up the Resume dialogue.

When I choose Reset and requeue I think it's safe to assume I already solved the problem for which the transfer failed in the first place, so it should attempt to resume automatically if a download thread is available.

Perhaps it should even be placed in queue above other files currently transferred and should be resumed as soon as a download thread is available, because if there's some temporary problem (several server resets for example) there would be many partial files filling user's drive.

#4530 Accessibility events missing from the file lists in Gtk+ version new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch Accerciser (http://live.gnome.org/Accerciser) and Filezilla.
  1. In Accerciser (please see attached screenshot)
  1. In the list of accessibles on the left, highlight the filezilla application
  1. In the notebook on the right, choose Event Monitor.
  1. In the Event Monitor, select the Selected application radio button.
  1. Press the Select All button to check all event types.
  1. Give focus a file selection list and arrow up and down.

Expected results: Some* event would be issued each time the selection changes to inform assistive technologies of this fact.

Actual results: No events whatsoever seem to be issued when the selection changes. As a result, *nix users who are blind cannot use Filezilla.

I'm using Filezilla version 3.2.4 from http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Unofficial_Binaries. Note that I started building the latest from trunk using the instructions for OpenSolaris on your wiki, but I was not successful. However, in looking at the list of changes on your wiki, I came across: http://filezilla.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/filezilla?view=rev&revision=3159. Therefore on a Ubuntu Jaunty box, I got the latest "Successful" nightly snapshot (2009-05-21). I'm still not seeing any accessibility events when the selection changes. :-( If I'm missing something, please let me know. Otherwise, thanks in advance for looking at this issue!

#4569 Inconsistent usability of icon bar icons new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

The two icons "file name filter" and "directory comparison" in the icon bar behave different. This may be confusing to new users. The "file name filter" is enabled/disabled with the right mouse button and configured with the left button. The "directory comparison" is enabled/disabled with the left mouse button and configured with the right button.

Possible solution: Use an icon with a separate drop-down arrow. Left clicking the icon enables/disables the function. Left clicking the arrow calls the configuration. Right clicking does nothing.

#4629 Case Sensitive File Transfers/Overwrite new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When transferring files to FTP servers running on platforms such as Microsoft Windows files are overwritten without warning when they have the same name but differing case.

For example, when uploading a file HelloWorld.txt and then immediately uploading a second file named helloworld.txt the first file is silently overwritten by the second.

At a minimum, a checkbox in the Site Manager to tell FileZilla that the server is case-insensitive would be nice. Perhaps some sort of server case-sensitivity detection could be implemented, for example, using the response from the SYST command.

#4644 Can't uninstall a single user only install in Vista new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Using: FileZilla Client 3.2.6.1 (also happened with 3.2.6, and at least one other unknown previous version) Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit (running as default admin-level user with UAC enabled)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install FileZilla with default settings except select "Only for me".
  2. Try to uninstall FileZilla from the start menu entry.

Actual results: Nothing is uninstalled and the uninstaller asks you to reboot, nothing is removed after the reboot either.

Expected results: FileZilla is removed.

Workaround: Right-click uninstall.exe and select "Run as administrator".

#4694 Preference option to bypass confirmation for remote edit upload trigger reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'm using FileZilla v3.2.6.1

It would be nice, in addition to the "Watch Locally Edited Files for Modification And Prompt..." to have an "Upload Automatically" option. This would be a life saver for tedious 'remote' edits and testing.

Side note: i'm a longtime FileZilla fan, used on PC forever, after switching over to OS-X from Windows, I had a brief affair with CuteFTP, but then came back when the OS-X port of FileZilla became available.

It might be good to include a configuration toggle to disable this behaviour (i.e. send an invalid filename message to the sender) by default, as I found it very surprising.

Test case:

From a BSD, Mac or Linux box, create a file named "a:b". Upload the file. The server will show a 0 byte file named a, with an alternate data stream b with all of the content.

#4715 closing search dialog causes reconnect new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Using FileZilla 3.2.7-rc1 each time the search dialog is closed the following lines appear in the message log: Status: Retrieving directory listing... Status: Directory listing successful

Furthermore, in case the connection has been closed because of a timeout FileZilla reconnects to the server.

Maybe FileZilla wants to refresh the remote directory listing after closing the search dialog (for the case something new has been discovered while searching). However, I don't understand why this should trigger a reconnect.

#4791 FileZilla can't handle long path names new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Because you can't create a single ticket for both FileZilla client and server, I have created a duplicate one for each.

Both FileZilla client & server can't handle long path names. They are programmed to use the MAX_PATH constant when dealing with files, which only allows a full path/filename of up to 260 characters. This is only a limitation of FAT32 and doesn't exist on NTFS. This results in errors making it impossible to transfer files whose path names are too long.

For NTFS, there are ways of working around this limitation, allowing for path names of 32,768 characters (specified by GetVolumeInformation (lpMaximumComponentLength)). Utilizing UNC (unicode) filenames allows you to get around this.

For reference, see this MSDN page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fileio/fs/naming_a_file.asp

#4808 Window is too tall to fit on MacBook screen first time launching the client new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

The FileZilla client (3.2.7.1) window is too tall and the titlebar and toolbar get cut off behind the menu bar the first time the program is launched on a MacBook (1280x800) with a reasonably sized dock (roughly 60 pixels tall).

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch FileZilla on a MacBook for the first time.

Or

  • Remove ~/.filezilla and launch FileZilla.

Workarounds:

  • Select Zoom from the Window menu, then resize the window down from there.

Fix:

  • Reduce the default height of the window when a preferences file is not found.
#4811 shortcut to directory still link to old directory if shortcut changed on server new Bug report high FileZilla Client

#4834 filezilla does not work with UNIX systems where the user accounts shell is set to "rssh" reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

"rssh" is a ssh-only shell that should work with any SFTP implementation... from the man page:

rssh is a restricted shell for providing limited access to a host via ssh(1), allowing a user whose shell is configured to rssh to use one or more of the command(s) scp(1), sftp(1) cvs(1), rdist(1), and rsync(1), and only those commands. It is intended primarily to work with OpenSSH (see http://www.openssh.com), but may work with other implementations.

When I connect to a linux host (Ubunutu HH 8.04 LTS x86-32) from a Mac OS X or Linux x32 client using Filezilla client, if the user I connect as has the shell set to "bash" - everything works properly.

If I connect to the same user again, having changed the shell to "rssh", it fails. See output below: (first is succssful, bash-shell connect, second is failed rssh-shell connect)

#4859 Remote Site Directory Listing shows incorrect date in FileZilla Client 3.1 and higher new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

I have several people who use FileZilla to connect to an SFTP site on a Core FTP Server on a Windows XP SP3 Dell computer. This is occurring on several different computers in several versions of FileZilla - definitely from 3.2 up and I believe at least one person has 3.1.x. The computers are all running Windows XP SP3 and are up to date on patches. The problem does not occur in older versions of Filezilla such as version 2.2.8d. When the file is downloaded, it has the correct date.

The incorrect dates on the folder start with 12/31/2009 and go through 12/15/1970. The correct dates for the folders begin with 10/21/2008 and go through 10/5/2009.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thank you.

#4873 transfer time left & throughput rate invalid if limits are set during transfer new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The throughput rate and time left estimates are correct assuming the transfer limits have not been configured.

If they are configured during a transfer, the limit is applied properly to the live transfer without interruption (a very useful feature) but the time left and throughput rate are based on a running average including all previous data prior to the limit being set. All of that data is no longer applicable.

A simple solution would be to simply reset the time left estimate and throughput counters anytime the limits are set (or make that an option).

Another option is to separate throughput into "Throughput Overall" and "Throughput Now". For time left, it simply needs to be a best estimate given the current data throughput, so it simply should not take into consideration any transfer speed data prior to about 1 minute from "now".

#4920 "File has changed" Dialog after resume from suspend for all ever opened files. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

First of all: My FileZilla setup ist german. My english is not the best.

After i woke my system from suspend to disk, the FileZilla Client starts to pop up the "File has changed" message for all ever opened files. I had to open the task manager and terminate the FileZilla task to stop that behaviour. Not any of the files has changed realy and i am not sure what the files would look like if i had choosen "upload new file to server".

#4936 Retrieving directory contents of remote FTP server should be on one thread only new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I work a lot with a ftp server that has a lot of files and subfolders in a folder. As it's a high traffic server, it needs some time to show the file list for that folder so I run almost every day into this following problem.

Filezilla is configured to do up to 3 uploads at the same time. Server has /files/ folder in the root. Folder /files/ has about 2000 folders and 1500 files in it..

I'm dragging four files from the local files list on the /files/ folder.

Three upload threads are started and each sends command to retrieve the directory listing of /files/

Server simply times out in about 10 seconds because it can't process the three directory listing at the same time, so two of the files are right away sent to Failed Transfers tab. The third thread manages to retrieve the directory listing, file is uploaded The fourth file thread upload thread is started and no longer retrieves the directory list so it stores the file right away. If I watch the Failed Transfers tab and click on "Reset queue..." right as the files appear there, the two failed files will be processed successfully.

The way I see it there's two problems about this...

  1. Files shouldn't be send to "Failed transfers" because an actual transfer attempt was not done - the directory listing failed. There should be a reconnect attempt after a few seconds, an attempt to retrieve the directory listing again (or be smart enough to see another thread got the directory listing already) and then try to store the files.

(It would be worth investigating if there are other cases where files are sent directly to "Failed transfers" even though no transfer was actually attempted.)

  1. Filezilla should be smart enough to see that if two or more threads try to get the same directory on the same server with the same user account and password, maybe it would be wise to use a mutex or something to force only one directory listing request.

Even nicer would be to have the queue system to have the directory listing as high priority and the four file uploads depending on this "directory listing job" being performed.

#4941 Duplicated entries when importing xml new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

By mistake, I've imported twice the same xml file containing site profiles. Now my ftp sites appears twice on site manager. I suggest you, if possible, to show a warning if the xml file contains sites with the same name/data of existing profiles and ask what to do (overwrite, import with another name (i.e. adding "(2)" at the end, or do nothing), to avoid duplicated entries when importing site profiles.

#5105 "Use the server's external IP address instead" option doesn't work reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

The "Use the server's external IP address instead" option doesn't work as expected. Even if the option is set, Filezilla client uses the address returned in the PASV command instead of the server's external IP address.

Note for the developper : The bug is located at line 3837 in source file ftpcontrolsocket.cpp (Filezilla client 3.3.1) Replace the test else if (m_pEngine->GetOptions()->GetOptionVal(OPTION_PASVREPLYFALLBACKMODE) == 2)

with

else if (m_pEngine->GetOptions()->GetOptionVal(OPTION_PASVREPLYFALLBACKMODE) != 1)

It looks like the option can't have the value "2" so the test returns false everytime.

#5209 up/download via sftp does not work against OpenVMS servers new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

Up/downloading files via sftp does not work against an OpenVMS server. The messages listed below show the behavior when trying to download a single file (login.com;3) using sftp (not successful) and via ftp (successful, using the same host). Real usernames/hostnames/IPs have been replaced by dummy values. Opening connections via sftp does work and the directory content of the initial server side directory is correctly listed. However, traversing the directory tree on the server does not work, reporting similar error messages (wrong server side path specs).

#5315 Alternative SFTP directory listing parsing new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When you name files on the remote server such that their names begin with a space character, FileZilla is no longer able to operate on those files. It always returns the error "no such file or directory" when trying to move, delete or rename the file.

Another similar bug (#5292) was rejected because it related to a limitation of using the LIST command and the identification of padding characters.

However, I am connecting to my remote server using SSH and FileZilla is using the "ls" command, rather than LIST. Another difference is that, when using LIST, if the file either begins or ends with a space, it becomes unmodifiable, while with ls, files ending with a space can be interacted with normally. Only files that begin with a space become problematic.

When I start File Zilla client I get this warning ...

The queue will not be saved.

The same warning comes when I close File Zilla!

#5366 Files downloaded after a file has been modified server-side report incorrect total size new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If you load a folder in FileZilla, modify the file on the server (adding bytes is where I encountered it), and then download the file, the size of the file in the download queue uses the cached file size.

For example, I recently did this:

  • Started downloading an ISO onto my server via wget
  • Loaded the folder the file was being downloaded to in FileZilla to wait.
  • When the file was done transferring to my server, I initiated the transfer from server to my computer.

The size of the download in my queue was ~1.0gb while the actual file size is over 2.0gb. Therefore the progress is reported as 100% at 1.0gb while there is still at least 1.0gb more to go.

Just an annoying issue with what I assume to be the cached information on the file from when I initially loaded the folder.

#5419 Automatic resend of queued file when sending to mainframe new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'm having a problem sending some files to an IBM mainframe system. Sending small files causes no problems, only larger files. After initiating a transfer to the mainframe, the connection (over what I guess is port 21) is dropped after about 2 minutes, but the file transfer continues anyway. When the transfer is finished, the mainframe shows a successful end message on the log, but FileZilla then restarts the transfer and keeps resending the same file until manually terminated. This seems to be related to the dropped connection during the transfer as it doesn't happen for smaller files where the transfer finishes before the drop of connection. As mainframe file transfers often are difficult to test, I should be able to provide a test environment for you to help debugging this problem, should it be necessary. The official FileZilla 3.3.3 is being used.

#5420 Another win file name upper/lower case issue new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

To reproduce (windows only, probably):

  1. Pull up a local directory / FTP site where local files == remote files
  2. Right-click a local file and select "edit"
  3. Rename file, changing case only (i.e. foo.js => Foo.js)
  4. Change something in the renamed file and save

Result: filezilla's "File Has Changed" feature uploads the file using the old filename (i.e. uploads foo.js rather than Foo.js, even though foo.js no longer exists)

#5432 Simultaneous connections error new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.3 Build date: 2010-06-13. I did a search on Simultaneous connections and found a couple old tickets that gave little info and said they were fixed. However, I had an older version (don't recall how old) that did not have this problem but I'm now having it with the new update which I downloaded today. To best describe my problem, below is a log of my exchange with support with my host. Unfortunately, I cannot attach the log file as logging was not on by default as I discovered when I hunted trying to find the location of the log. I've changed that setting so that I'll be able to provide a log in the future. So the snippet will have to do for now.

By the way, I will be posting a couple of feature requests based on my experience with this problem (haven't yet looked to see if already requested). 1) Under menu item Transfer, you have Process Queue but no Stop Process and no Erase Queue. Both are needed. 2) A way to synchronize the contents of a local folder with the contents of a remote folder.

I've gone back and forth with the TicketSubmissionGuide and my ticket, and hope that I have followed all the guidelines correctly. If I've left something out, please ask.

Jul 01 2010 17:18 Q: Kathryn at Gwens I'm using the most current version of filezilla to do some uploads to http://babcockancestry.com/SS2-o/exhibits/. I've been successful in getting some uploaded but not all. Here is a typical part of the error log. Note, I'm the only client connected, and the password is right (or I wouldn't be able to get some of them uploaded), so what's going on?

Jul 01 2010 17:23 A: Support24 Hello,

Please make sure that you set your ftp client to operate in passive mode (PASV) and that it is limited to a maximum of less than 5 concurrent connections. The log shows that the client manages to reach the maximum number of concurrent ftp connections. We have killed the current active connections for you. Make sure that you update the settings of your FTP Client prior to uploading new files.

Best regards, Support

Jul 01 2010 17:39 Q: Kathryn at Gwens "Limit number of simultaneous connections" has checkmark, and "Maximum number of connections" was set to 5 and I've changed it to 4. It already had it set for PASV. I've totally stopped the ftp and Filezilla and started over, double checking the above settings. Now I can't get any further than this:

Response: 331 Password required for babcock Command: PASS Response: 530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (10) for this user are already connected. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server

Jul 01 2010 17:41 A: Support24 Hello,

You had reached the maximum number of connections again. We have killed them for you again.

Best regards, Support

Jul 01 2010 17:43 Q: Kathryn at Gwens Why is this happening and what can I do to prevent it? Jul 01 2010 17:45

A: Support24 Hello,

If your FTP Client is not able to control the number of initiated connections we assume that this could be caused by a bug at the application. At the present moment you have only one active connection to the server.

Best regards, Support

-end support transcript-

Subsequently, I got up to the max # of connections again.

#5438 View/Edit stops working new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

View/Edit menu item from the context menu on a remote file stops working on the second attempt on the same file, if currently openned localy.

Step to reproduce :

1 - Select a remote .csv file and View/Edit from the context menu; 2 - while the file is still open, try to view/edit again the same remote file 3 - On the prompt that warns you that file is openned, select the second option «Delete local file and download again» + Ok. Another warning shows up. 4 - close the local file. 5 - View/Edit again on the same remote file. Nothing open, nothing download. And no prompts.

other useful info :

  • View/Edit however still works on other files.
  • I couldn't reproduce this issue using .txt files and notepad or ultraedit; seems like a file exclusive access issue not being reset properly.
  • Remote server is unix RHEL4, using vsftpd
  • client's server detection is automatic, transfer type automatic;

Restarting Filezilla fixes the issue, so it's little to deal with. However, less technical users might have an harder time figuring out what's going on.

Keep up the good work !

Regards, jsgervais

#5461 Directory Comparison Not Reporting Properly For File Size reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been using Cute FTP for a long time, but wanted to try FileZilla. Cute FTP also has a directory comparison feature. When comparing files by file size, I have no problem with Cute FTP. However FileZilla marks all my files as different. This might be because of the way the file is stored in Linux compared to Windows.

For example, 788KB size file on my local Windows machine is 763KB on the Linux server. But the files have identical content. Cute FTP reports the files as the same ( as it should ), but FileZilla reports them as different, which may be technically correct, but is also useless.

So I suspect that Cute FTP is taking into account the way the files are stored in its comparison algorithm, while FileZilla is not. Cute FTP also has a checkbox for "Ignore Letter Case". Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I'm not sure how to classify this issue. Maybe a bug or patch request. Either way, no matter how it is done, it would be nice if FileZilla would compare the files in a manner that determined if the file content is different or not ( because that is the point of the exercise ).

Date comparisons are not sufficient for this. File size works well, but there may also be other ways.

I can duplicate this issue all day and send screen shots of both CUTE FTP and FileZilla doing exactly the same task, where FileZilla is all salmon red ( indicating different ) and Cute FTP is normal, indicating no differences ( as it should ). Screen shots are attached.

Also, when Cute FTP identifies different files, it pre-selects them so that you can simply drag them as a group over to the other side. That would be a really handy feature.

Apart from these issues, FileZilla seems excellent, and once these issues are resolved, I would be happy to send a donation and reccommend that others do the same, as well as post a link for it on my website.

Thanks

#5465 Queued files window slow to update when enabling speed limits accepted praveen Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When transferring at least two files in parallel from the filezilla client to an SFTP-server and I enable speed limits by using the right-click menu at the bottom right, the queued files list freezes. During that time all transfer bars and speed indicators are frozen and do not update most of the time. For short periods of time the indicators may unfreeze for a few seconds until they freeze again. If speed limits are disabled then the queued list is unfrozen.

#5477 If transfer is interrupted, Automatic Shutdown enabled, Queue is cleared. 3.3.3 new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When you set the program to shutdown after the queue is completed, and something else interrupts the transfer (in my case, the ftp server went down) FileZilla shuts down the computer, but it also wipes the queue. I had a queue that would have taken a couple days to complete, but it's wiped clean. Rather frustrating as I'm about to go on a trip.

At minimum, there should be a setting that tells it to keep trying until the queue is completed.

FZ v3.3.4.1

When you drag-and-drop in the remote panel, a plus-sign appears, implying that the file will be copied. But actually the file is moved. Holding the Ctrl key down while dragging still results in a move operation.

When reconnecting to a server after losing my internet connection, or after a timeout, I frequently receive the cryptic error message:

Error: input_pushback not null!

#5594 Keyboard shortcut lost on Windows after update new Bug report low FileZilla Client

#5595 Keyboard navigation on directory panel new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

Since a former update (maybe FileZilla 3), the possibility of jumping to a location on the directory tree by pressing a letter on the keyboard has been lost. I suspect that is has been lost on the local directory panel first, and now on the distant directory panel as well. Note that it is still preserved on the file list panels.

The possibility of navigating using the keyboard is important for users like me who appreciate "mouseless" fast interaction.

#5604 FileZilla client is not high-DPI aware on Windows reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla is not high-DPI aware on Windows 7 or Vista. This means that if you set your PC's display resolution to the maximum supported, and compensate for the resulting small default GUI font by increasing the DPI setting, FileZilla's text is blurred because it is raster scaled. This is explained in the following tutorial:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd464659(VS.85).aspx

To reproduce on Windows 7:

  1. Right click the desktop and choose Screen Resolution.
  2. Make sure that it is set to its recommended value.
  3. From Control Panel, choose Display.
  4. Under "Make it easier to read what's on your screen", select "Larger - 150%".
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Log off and log on again.
  7. Start FileZilla and observe that the text on its UI is blurred.

The solution may be as simple as linking in the attached manifest file and testing that all text still fits in objects such as buttons, so I hope you'll try it. It'll help those of us getting presbyopia to put off the day when we need spectacles to read the screen!

#5617 preserve timestamps option not working on directories. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

hi,

when the preserve timestamps is enabled, and when uploading a directory with some sub directories inside, the existing directories of my local filesystem are not modified. (of course it's ok for my files as filezilla is a great app, developped by great guys)

it's not a big deal..

but maybe an option could be added for the timestamp option : 'ignore directories timestamp' in some case it would be very helpful for my eyes and my backup/restore ops.

kind regards,

When you use "fast connection", and the username is 'anonymous' (but you're not using an anonymous access), when you enter a password, the same password is changed and the client cannot connect.

Example: address: 10.20.30.40 username: anonymous password: hightower <-- this is changed to the default one when you try to connect

You are updating automaticly, so I think these data are correct.

Bug: 1. using a transfer of .gif or .jpg, Filezilla is sometimes forgotten it should be binary, so it transfers as a ascii file, result no image displaying. Nevertheless : these are not registered as ascii . 2. I use very often csv files ( comma seperated values = textfile ), can be dot csv , can be dot tsv or something else. Both are registered as transfer like ascii. Nevertheless : the software wants to transfer binary.

Would be very nice, to solve this problem.

#5688 Server certificate needs to be accepted twice new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I connecto to a server with FTPES, I get the dialog to confirm the certificate. I check "always trust" and click ok, but when I download the first file, I get asked again.

I think this problem started with version 3.3.4 or 3.3.5. It also appears that my cached trusted server certificates are not kept between updates.

#5689 Impossible to read address bar drop down reopened Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

If you have the directory tree enabled, the address bar is cramped into the space above that pane instead of spread across the two panes.

It's impossible to choose another directory because the dropdown cuts everything off after one or two levels. See attached.
