Description
The local list view is extremly slow when using a
network drive. Switching between directories needs some
1-3 seconds, which is much slower than the remote side
via FTP!
I have this problem on a Windows XP SP2 while the
network drive is a Linux samba share.
Version FileZilla 2.2.10 (but I remember, it was that
slow in many versions before)

Still slow for me. This is very frustrating, as I use
FileZilla often. Local drive window updates almost
instantly, but mapped network drive is very slow. Scrolling
long file lists will drive you crazy, as it can take 5-10
seconds (or more) to scroll to the file you want.

How fast is it using latest version of FileZilla 3? It still is very slow? If you access the network drive from Windows Explorer (I believe you are using Windows), it is that slow as well there?

I also got this problem with FileZilla (in old version and the latest version 3.11).
Test scenario
- In FileZilla, browse the local site to a LAN network folder (in both cases: a mapped network driver or URI like
domain-name\folder) - FileZilla is suspended for a while (~ 15 seconds) before displaying the network folder content.
- I used FileZill 3.11 on WinXP SP2, network driver is a LAN folder
- If using other application (e.g. Windows Explorer), I can browse this LAN folder very fast
NOTE: I also saw this problem with FreeCommander version 0.7 (http://www.freecommander.com) - an application like Total Commander or NC. However, in the new version 1.0, they fixed this problem. You can refer to its solution.

Any updates on this?
The networked drive is local and as should be my ping to it is less than 1ms.
I've had this as well since forever and I'm really questioning if FileZilla is worth it as the only other feature I use is the edit-feature (which is terrific). But I have to lots of surfing through directories and refreshing, it currently takes 10-15 sec each time whereas using the windows browser makes instantaneous.

It is a problem in Windows, it does not cache remote directory listings.

Seems to be resolved with version 2.2.18.
