Description
When FileZilla connects to a web hosting directory, I'm
unable to see any existing .htaccess files. However,
if I rename a file to ".htaccess", I can see that
renamed file for as long as I have FileZilla connected
to that site.
The web hosting is on a Linux server, although I'm not
sure this has anything to do with the problem.
I'm using the latest release of FileZilla.

Nevermind. I just discovered the feature "Always show
hidden files" in Remote file list settings.
