router not a problem. Plus I don't have an issue with long transfers - file goes to 100%. Odd thing is these files are under 100KB. 100% - then can't finish.

Transfers not finishing is a clear indication that some broken router and/or firewall is interfering with FTP.
Please read http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Network_Configuration for configuration instructions.

Bug: Same thing here, but mikoletic87's fix worked. What I want to add is that the transfer time bar shows the progression of the file transferring even after it has timed out, and I then get a successful transfer message despite it failing. I'm working with v3.5.2 on Windows 7.

I get this when tunneling FTP through PuTTY, either with direct port 20 and 21 tunnels, or with a Dynamic (Sicks Proxy setup) tunnel, but _only_ with text files, and despite the fact I forced Binary usage.
Real binary files are fine and transfer fast.
Changing the timeout did not help in this case.
When going directly to the FTP Server without tunnelling, it works for all files.
(but then the password is transferred in the clear, of course, which is bad, since I had my site comprimised due to this).
Also, the hosting provider does not support the sftp standard (not SSL for POP3 - he's not the most secure of providers!).
Windows Client: XP SP3 (32-bit)
FileZilla Client: 3.5.3
PuTTY Client: 0.62
Hosting FTP: ProFTPD 1.3.3a Server
Hosting SSH: unknown sshd (provider shows an interactive menu, no shell).
Somehow this does not make sense at all :)
I think I should look into ProFTPD 1.3.3a myself.
The same here.
