#5534 new Feature request

Synchronized browsing dialogs

Reported by: Dave Smith Owned by:

Keywords: synchronized browsing dialog Cc:

Operating system version: All Operating System

Description

Hi

Submitted when using FileZilla 3.3.4.1 on OSX 10.5 but I think this is the same on Windows.

Action:
Select a remote site folder that does not exist in the local site (with synchronized browsing on)

Result:
A Synchronized browsing dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist or cannot be accessed. Disable synchronized browsing and continue changing the remote directory? [Yes|No]"

Expected:
A dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist in the local site. Would you like FileZilla to create the folder and continue? [Yes|No]". Yes creates the folder and opens it synchronised. No does nothing and leaves the user to decide what to do.

Equally...

Action:
Select a local site folder that does not exist in the remote site (with synchronized browsing on)

Result:
No message dialog but an error in the log with "Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing"

Expected:
A dialog appears with "%File Path% does not exist in the remote site. Would you like FileZilla to create the folder and continue? [Yes|No]". Yes creates the folder and opens it synchronised. No does nothing and leaves the user to decide what to do.

all the best
Dave

i just noticed the same problem on Windows, a local folder doesn't exist on the server, and i don't get a popup asking to disable sync or create folder on either side.

the reason i clicked a local folder that doesn't exist yet on the server is that i need to double-check before i upload it to the server. or vice versa before downloading.

So what happens is Filezilla doesn't open the folder, nor does it show the "disable sync browsing" popup. it just stays there in the folder i'm trying to leave.

So the next logical step is to disable sync browsing when browsing outside of the root or even below it but doesnt exist. so i do that manually, and go into the folder i wanted. checked, happy.

the folder that i'm in at this point is below the root i set in the site manager. it just doesn't exist on the server yet. but i don't get an error message when re-enabling sync browsing. i get the popup when trying to go to a folder that exists on both sides.

weird logic there.

it checks the current folder (that doesn't exist in the other pane), if it can be synced instead of the one i want to go into )that does exist on both sides).

Bug there.

Same here

This still exists in FileZilla 3.5.3 - namely the message "Failed to retrieve directory listing" when trying to enter a local remotely not present directory.

However, the bug is only that there is no dialogue for the local directory. Adding another dialogue asking for whether or not to create a remote directory is a feature request, not a bug report. Same for the added settings.
