It would be most helpful if Filezilla offered an option to show the Site Manager at startup since 99% of the time that is what I do :-)

Attached a patch to add the missing feature - it adds a new option under Settings->Interface to show the Site Manager on start up (off by default).

Thanks for the patch.
I've applied it with some changes:
- Do not open site manager twice if also passing the command-line switch to open the site manager
- Missing keyboard mnemonic on the checkbox
