#2090 closed Feature request

deactivating the timeout

Description

Deactivating of the timeout would be a good solution
for the following problem. For example inserting a 0
for the timout or a check button to activate / deactivate.

Our network is behind a proxy server. Requests of files
from an FTP-Server will be downdloaded by this proxy
server. After a virus check the proxy sends the files to
FileZilla. The download of huge files (40 MB and more)
will be abortet after the maximum timeout of 999
seconds (~16 minutes) because FileZilla have to wait
until the proxy has finished his job.

One of the government departments in the ministry of traffic wants to use FileZilla to access data
from an archive server.

This data has to be read by an archive roboter from tape etc. Before the first Byte is seen by
FileZilla, it gets copied to an FTP-Gateway server. I encountered also the timeout and need a
solution for this.

What can be done easily to get this feature fast?
1.) Increasing the field length of the timeout field to 4 digits (allow up to 9999 seconds) in the
connection settings dialog or
2.) adding a boolean checkbox enabling /disabling this feature

The first solution would be with very little effort, the second one a little more.

Any comments on this?
