#13065 new Bug report

Editing remote text file fails

Reported by: William Finck Owned by:

Component version: 3.66.5 Operating system type:
Operating system version: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240221

Description (last modified by William Finck)

This morning I ran updates and used the new Filezilla version 3.66.5 for the first time. Editing a remote configuration file on one of my servers, after I saved the file and responded to the upload dialog, filezilla crashed and the window closed.

When I went to the server directory to edit the file in the shell, I found that the file was set to a size of 0 bytes, so the contents were totally lost. I was able to retrieve the file from a backup made last night, but otherwise this would have been a difficult loss to overcome.

PS: I repeated this procedure twice, and had the same result each time. I have been editing files in this manner for many years.

Can you please check, if it has to do with the fact that:

  • If Transfer is not set to: Binary,

->> than the file is getting modified?
