bad local directory listing

Description
Running 1.9.8 beta 6 on win98. Every item in the
current folder is repeated at least 50 times - folders
and files.

This version is as you should know, a beta version. Beta
version may contain some debug and test code which won't
appear in the final version. This version simulates large
directories with over 10000 files.
Please don't use beta versions if you're not affected by the
problems reported in the tracker items I've posted the beta
version, because I don't give support for beta version outside
these tracker items.
