Resume transfer fails

Description
Was transferring a large file ok, then failed near the end, when try to resume it sends a few bits then "target file already exists" pops back up. Error at both source and destination: 550 Writing to file failed.
Checked permissions - all ok, tried another file same source same destination, transfers ok, Filezilla client and server on latest version, plenty of storage at destination... Any idea?
