#12234 new Bug report

Unable to view/edit files with new version 3.49.1

Reported by: Jamie Brunett Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: FileZilla Client
Keywords: view/editr Cc: Jamie Brunett
Component version: 3.49.1 Operating system type: Windows
Operating system version: 10 64-bit

Description

I have never had issues being able to view/edit a file. I have always used UltraEdit (current version 27.00.0.72). The transfer says successful when selecting view/edit. The files have always been placed in a temp folder but now all that is in the temp folder is a lock file fz3temp-lockfile of zero bytes. I updated setting to use the system default editor for text files and that did not work. Here is the setting for UltraEdit "C:\Program Files\IDM Computer Solutions\UltraEdit\uedit64.exe". This has worked for years. I am able to FTP the files from the server to my PC. I am attach the debug log with Windows and FileZilla version. I use this option religiously and would really like some help. I did read the forum pages and looked though the tickets but nothing seems to match my issue.

I was able open files using notepad++ version 7.8.7 but still having issues with UltraEdit. I updated UltraEdit to the latest version 27.00.0.94 but it still does not work. I still want to use UltraEdit as I can use it in conjunction with UltraCompare. Running file comparisons from within UltraEdit.

I cannot open .docx files. Use .txt for textual content, .png for images.

Loaded a png file with the screen prints. The other file is a word document which should be able to be opened but multiple different application not just Microsoft Word. I have reverted to version 3.48 and the same issue occurs. I am quite sure that if is a pc issue that is causing the problem but have no idea what could be causing it. If you have any ideas please share them. Your help is appreciated!

I found the issue. Under to properties of UltraEdit on the compatibility tab the box was checked for "Run this program as an administrator". Once this was cleared the files opened in UltraEdit as expected and as had previously been the case. I am not sure how the box became checked as this has worked between FileZilla and UE for years. You can close out the ticket.
