#10290 closed Bug report (fixed)

Unable to do a new Install of FileZilla_3.10.2_win32-setup on Windows7 and 8

Reported by: ClDc Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: FileZilla Client
Keywords: Cc: cldc.site@…
Component version: Operating system type: Windows
Operating system version: 7 and 8

Description

1) 2 days ago I tried to install FZ on the computer of a friend. This was a new installation.

Environment: Windows 8 + internet Explorer (IE) + Kapersky as antivirus
I analyzed the exe installation file once downloaded with Kapersky, no issue reported.
When I executed the file, it was hanging with an empty or black pop-up windows openening.
I had to stop the computer and restart it

I think the file was around 700 ko ( the same size than the one mentioned by IE while confirming the download).

2) Today on my computer, where FZ is installed since a long time, and is runing as expected, I received an update and I see that FileZilla_3.10.2_win32-setup.exe is around 6064 Ko
I got no issue while installing an using this new update.

Then I tried to download FileZilla from FZ site on my computer:
Windows 7 + Chrome + Norton

Norton stopped the downloading sending messages as :
"c90f.tmp (suspicious.Cloud9) deleted"

At the end no file is downloaded

the file c90f.tmp is loaded from http://cdn.qualitycontenthouse.com

Is the downloaded file corrupted? or is it a malware?
I have no more access to the Windows 8 environment and hope to have not installed a malware on this computer which is not mine.

In both cases I started the download from:
https://forum.filezilla-project.org/
and was redirected to sourceforge

Thanks for your time

It is safe to use the SourceForge Installer. While the SourceForge Installer may present third-party offers, they are clearly labeled as such. All third-party offers can easily be declined via the big decline button in the bottom of the window. Nothing unwanted is being installed without your consent. Declining offers does not prevent nor otherwise disturb the installation of FileZilla.

If you do not wish to use the SourceForge installer, have a look at the additional download options listed on the FileZilla website.

Hi,

Sorry My English is not good and I was not clear enough and made a mistake in on URL

In both cases :

1) I downloaded from :

https://filezilla-project.org/

2) clicking on "Download button" :

I was redirected to sourceforge so thinking it is safe

So I clicked on download button

And then the problem started

I'll attach a document showing step by step what I am doing and what I see right now

Yesterday I didn't get the last screen I got today.

It seem that after some time I am redirected to the right site.

Please do the test , have a look, it could avoid to other people to install a malware

I start from FileZilla site to get the installer and not from any other thirdparty site

It's a false-positive, it is safe to use the SourceForge Installer. See my previous reply for details.
