#434 reopened Feature request

Transfer of locked files

Description

Open MS Office documents cannot be transfered if still
open by Office. A transfer seams totake place but the
filesize and date is represented by ??? and an
Overwrite dialogbox apears trying to overwrite the file
that does not yet exist. after closing the document the
transfer goes well.

I suggest a test to see if the file is locked and if
so, alert via a dialogbox that the document must be
closed, and after pressing OK the test runs anew and if
it is still open alert that transfer could not be done
due to locked file.

This bug report has been closed due to inactivity and has possibly
already been solved.

You can reopen this report if the issue still exists in the
latest version of FileZilla (Server).

I realize this issue is over eight years old (?!), but what is the logic in FileZilla not uploading an Office document just because it is locked?

Elsewhere, like Windows Explorer, you can copy a locked Office document just fine, and the copied document works just fine too. And that of course is what FileZilla does when it uploads via FTP -- it just copies the file as a new file onto the target server.

It took me a while to realize just why some of my Office documents would not upload -- just because I was viewing them.
