I would really like this too.

I was using SmartFTP before, and I switched to FileZilla,
but I miss this feature so much.

Actually you can just edit the FileZilla exe file with a
resource editor, and turn off the password flag of the
password box, and then run it, and see all your passwords. :)

i have not "resource editor"

comment:4 by elsapo, 19 years ago

http://www.thefreecountry.com/programming/resourceeditors.shtml
lists many such. Or if you like, I can email you a filezilla
exe which displays passwords.

If you can send me the filezilla exe which displays
passwords. i have no experience with compiler decompiler..

I am now using FileZilla 2.2.17 and I really miss the
display a visible password feature.

Please implement it. Thanks.

nessunozero, I emailed you a modified FileZilla.exe (2.2.17)
which shows passwords (to the email account you gave me for
such a purpose).

I made a geocities page to hold copies of FileZilla.exe,
with modified resources so they show passwords:

FileZilla 3 stores all the passwords in plain text in its configuration file. So if you need to know any password, just have a look there. I think this is the best compromise between retrieving the password and allowing the usage of it without fear of someone looking above the should/on the screen when entering it.

Status: closedreopened

I would like to have this reopened.
I would prefer to allow the user to decide, what security standard he/she wants.
The default should of course be "hidden".
It helps especially against typos.
