"Never" check for updates automatically

Description
I'm unable as a user to disable the auto-update check:
I select this menu item: Edit - Settings
Then I select the page: "Updates"
In the pull-down menu "Check for FileZilla updates automatically", I select: "Never".
Guess what?! A few days later, when I open FileZilla, it shows a window telling me that it is busy downloading a new version. What!? It also shows: "New version available". No, that is not what I expected.
