I connected an FTPS server(port 990), and then closed filezilla. After filezilla UI hided, an dialog shown: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in filezilla.exe [3480]." with title "Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger".

My OS is Windows XP with SP2. I installed Visual Studio 2005.

with FTP, all is OK. with FTPS, the exception is occurred.

I'm using FileZilla client 3.3.3 and when I use the ampersand (&) symbol in a password for a site it is stored in the XML file as '&' not '&amp;'. If I manually change it from '&' to '&amp;' then FileZilla is ok until I update the site or close and reopen FileZilla. Updating the site affects 'sitemanager.xml' and closing affects 'filezilla.xml' (<LastServer><Pass> tag), thus 'filezilla.xml' cannot be read and the default settings are used.

I've attached screen shots of the errors generated for each of these files.

using TLS connect to a site using unknown certificate, when click 'Always trust certificate in future sessions', it only work for current instance of FileZilla3. After close FileZilla3, next time, it will ask again.

When I open a site that has a certificate problem, the Unknown certificate window pops up. But the "Always trust certificate in future sessions" checkbox is not enabled so the next time I open FileZilla, I have to verify the site again. This only started happening in 3.13.1

The site I am trying to access is ktlcanada.com Other sites seem to not do this.

We connect to a client which uses Alternative Midnight Format (24:00) timestamps when retrieving directory listings using sFTP.

This system has logs, several of which roll at midnight, making the occurrence of these timestamps somewhat common.

When a directory listing is performed against the server, the data returned is:

(file name = testdate, 
 file size = 3 bytes, 
 file timestamp = 4/5/2016 00:00 == 4/4/2016 24:00)

The client window shows the file name as "24:00 testdate" and properly shows the date/timestamp as 2016-04-05 00:00 when using ISO 8601 format.

When retrieving the file, the command sent is:

get "24:00 testdate" "c:\temp1\24_00 testdate"

and fails because the file indicated in the command does not exist. Other commands against the file also fail for the same reason.

It is my understanding that ISO 8601 indicates midnight as 00:00 or 24:00 of the day prior, both being valid formats.

On the Windows build version 3.0.11 and earlier versions, Alt-H cannot be used for the Help pull-down since it is in use for the Host field. Another key needs to be assigned for one of these.

When adding a dirtree to the download queue, filezilla does not honor the alpha order of the file names when I believe that it should or at least offer an option to do so.

One can reproduce this very easily: On the server from which to download, do:

Now connect to the server with filezilla and drag the "test" folder into the download queue and begin downloading. The order is not: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

While processing a download queue, if a local disk becomes full, FileZilla aborts downloading to this disk and reports these files as successful.

a) FileZilla build details and system details b) A sample log excerpt from a FileZilla session. Approximately 24 files were being downloaded, each between 150 MiB and 250 MiB. Names, paths and hostnames were redacted. No lines within this excerpt were omitted.

Expected behaviour: When target local disk is full, files being downloaded to this disk are reported as failed and show up in Failed transfers. Subsequent file downloads in the queue, to the same disk, should also be reported as failed. FileZilla's notification, when the queue is processed, should report an error.

Actual behaviour: All affected files are reported as Successful, show up in the Successful transfers list, and the FileZilla tooltip reports that all files transferred successfully.

Observations: The files being downloaded when disk becomes full are truncated, as expected. Other files in the queue are created as zero-byte files.

I use Filezilla for 10 years uploading video to different stocks. Three weeks ago I lost ability to get any successful transfer to Shutterstock. Uploads to Adobestock are OK. Here below I explain the problem and copy the log.

• For three weeks I cannot get any positive transfer on Filezilla (Cyberduck shows the same problem) uploading my 4K video files mp4
• No problems with uploading to other footage stocks
• Filezilla version and my PC data is attached No1
• I tried all possible setting of FZ but no result. My usual setting you can see attached No2
• I tried to upload on three different PC – the same
• Transfer starts and proceeds with no problem, reaches 100%, waits and starts again. You can see screen shot of the waiting and the log in this moment attached No3
• If I change the time of the waiting still it will start again and again but later
• I have good internet by the way
• The transfer of the file was done twice then it dropped to the Fail box of Filezilla as you see attached No4 and No5. Below this letter can see the log of these two transfers and failure also I attach No 6 the screen shot of the file as it appeared on my SS Submit content page. I NEVER MANAGE TO RECEIVE SUCCESSFUL RESULT SHOWED BY FILEZILLA but the files are transferred. Corrupted or not I don’t know. But SS gives me failure note attached No7.
• I live in Turkey. Fethiye city, Mugla region. The transfer trial has been done 28 August 2020 around 16:40-17:10. I tried in different time different days. No result.

When I create a new site, all the text boxes are populate the the domain name for my site. This includes the ftp port, the local and remote default directories - I can't seem to be able to save the new site, so I'm having to roll back to an older version.

Maximizing the main window, changing column's sizes - these are things I can do without problems, but as soon as the application is closed and then re-launched again, all those set sizes are gone..

FileZilla turned off the storing of passwords (including ticking the box in settings) which led to me losing all my passwords.

This is what I did:

1. Use the Site manager as usual.
2. Connected to site A. Downloaded some files.
3. Connected to site B, choosed to not use a new tab for the new connection.
4. Downed and upped some files.
5. Opened Site manager and renamed one item (site C) in the list on the left.
6. Tried to connect to site D, was asked to enter password - soon realized all my passwords were gone.

When googling I found this forum thread (​https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29878&start=15&sid=35e6379be2d519696199a78e6d9dbf14). The same thing happened to me as to the people in the thread. But I did not today and haven't for weeks used the quick connect toolbar.

I realize this is not enough information for anything. And my simple attempt to recreate the problem resulted in nothing. I'm putting this here in hope someone else who is affected by this problem has more information.

My installation of FileZilla is from regular FileZilla update, I don't think there was one very recently.

I use Filezilla 3.2.7.1.

1. I connect to some ftp site.
2. Then I double click on a folder which contains ~10 000 files.
3. (Filezilla wants to open the folder and list all files now)
4. So I get a response:

"Odpowiedź 125 Data connection already open; Transfer starting."

5. I wait a looong time and nothing happens.

I think that before Filezilla opens a folder, it loads all file names to the memory. If folder has 10000 files, there is a problem.

My suggested solution: ...make some cashe? or load only those file names, which are on the first screen?

Compare: Total commander doesn't have this problem.

I recently used the FTP with no incident, so this error came out of nowhere. When I try to transfer PDF images as a folder containing several (7) files, I get the following error message and it says it could not start the transfer:

If I try to upload the files individually, it tells me that the file already exists (it does not), so I can choose to overwrite it or rename it (I've tried both)and it says it transferred successfully, but the client cannot find the files on the server and it is reported as 0MB.

From version 3.35.1, all command line options are not working, except -h and --help.

At least I have confirmed -s, --site-manager, -c, --site=<str>, -a, --loal=<str>, --close, and not even -v nor --version are not working, and FileZilla client just starts as no command line option is fed.

After the last update of File Zilla, all of my UserName and Password information is no longer in FileZilla. It looks to have defaulted all of the file transfer information to blank. My three co-workers are also having the same issue for the files that they are trying to send.

After you reenter all of the information it seems to be saving now, but we now need to track down all of the information that is missing.

After doing a view/edit on a remote file, Filezilla would normally prompt you to upload the file back to the server. I'm now running FileZilla 2.2.23 on Windows XP Pro (SP2) w/ ZoneAlarm Security Suite 6.5.677, and it no longer asks to save the file and upload the changed file back to the server.

A filezilla user asked me to report to you this bug:

He sees an inconsistency on how the address field is handled. When you type in just a host name, filezilla makes an FTP connection.

But in this sequence of events things are different (note: you need to use for ftp.example.com a host which supports FTP but no SFTP):

1. Start up FileZilla version 2.2.17a
2. Fill in an Address like ​sftp://ftp.example.com
3. Discover, that ftp.example.com does not support

SFTP, so Click on the STOP icon in the Toolbar.

4. Remove the ​sftp:// prefix in front and try to

connect to ftp.example.com instead. It still will not connect.

This happens, because filezilla still tries to establish connections to port 22. You would need to extend the address to ​ftp://ftp.example.com to get a connection.

This is irritating to unexperienced users, because for them it looks like the situation in step 4 is the same as if they had gone through this sequence of events:

1. Start up FileZilla version 2.2.17a
2. Fill in an Address like ftp.example.com
3. An FTP connection is set up.

I just upgraded recently to 3.33.0 and at the end of the month I download an XMI file from z/OS which is an unloaded PDS file. I then run a check after the download using a tool called XMI Explorer to confirm the file is readable. Today the file is not. I then used standard DOS FTP to download same file and was ok. So what has changed in 3.33.0 that caused the corruption in the XMI files? I tried 6 other XMI files that worked in previous versions of FileZilla and they were corrupted using 3.33.0. I asked a colleague to try it as well and they too had the issue. The files are 39 meg so I can't attach to this record.If there is anything you need me to do let me know.

Updated to version 3.10.0.1 and after updating I cannot update our business website because it says it not connect to the server. I had no problem updating our website with the previous version which I think was 3.10.0. I checked with the server and the server Tech support says the problem is with File Zilla and not with the server. This is urgent to get fixed as we have wrong information for customers on our website.

I routinely use FileZilla client with two FTP servers. Immediately after updating the client to version 3.36.0 it started routinely crashing while "Retrieving directory listing..." from one of these servers. With the other server, I see no problem.

After updating Win 10 Pro to version 1803 on 1 May I can no longer Drag&Drop snapshots out of FileZilla to a file on my desktop. I am using FileZilla 3.32.0. I get this message when I attempt to Drag&Drop "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn’t drop the files into an Explorer window."

I downloaded 3.32.0 to a laptop which uses an earlier version of Win 10 and the Drag&Drop function worked perfectly. I suspect a mismatch between the latest version of Win 10 and FileZilla.

I use the rename feature quite often within FileZilla and just recently it seems to not work properly. I change the name and it reverts back to the original name. After I select refresh the new name appears. So it seems to be updating the name but not showing on the screen. Please let me know if there is a fix. This just started with the latest update I downloaded.

I have changed nothing in my setup or login parameters.

FileZilla just downloaded update 3.19.0-rc1 (2016-06-20). This update has not yet been installed. It's just sitting there in my Downloads folder. However, ever since the download of the update, when I try to open the Site Manager, it gives me this very scary warning:

The file 'C:\...\FileZilla\sitemanager.xml' has been created by a more recent version of FileZilla. Loading files created by newer versions can result in loss of data. Do you want to continue?

First of all, we cannot copy-paste the error message, which sucks. Second of all, the error message is obviously wrong. The newer version is only downloaded, not installed yet, so how on earth can we ever have used it to create a new sitemanager.xml?? Third, *why* would data loss ever ensue from *loading* a file?? Data loss normally happens when we save a file...

This error message is very scary, because it basically tells you: Either press No and be unable to use FileZilla, or press Yes and ignore this warning at your own peril...

Took me some time to gather the courage to just press Yes...

Now today it happened again and I'm pretty sure now that this dialog is actually just testing the presence of something silly (such as a folder existing, or reg key or whatever) and is not actually looking at which version is installed. Once I install the downloaded update, the error disappears..

Maybe save the version of FileZilla in the sitemanager.xml? And maybe just make reading/writing sitemanager.xml more robust? It's XML. There is no real reason it should ever go corrupt just because some flag was not saved or was saved but not recognized...

I'd say prio is high because this happens every time you guys push an update and it's giving a very scary warning message that talks of corrupted data...

When I transfer a file from my Fedora 14 64bit machine it became unresponsive with grey screen after successful file transfer to server. Then I can only Force Quit it.

My machine details is: Machine: Dell Latitude D620 Laptop Processor: Intel Core2Duo T7200 @ 2.0GHz Ram: 2GB Operating System: Fedora 14 (Laughlin) Kernel: Linux 2.6.35.6-48.fc14.x86_64

After N files transferred through sftp using FileZilla, the queue slows down. It happens when I'm transferring one file at a time or 2 files at a time or N files at a time. It usually slows down when the third or fourth file in the queue has finished transferring.

And when it's happening, all I need to do is restart the queue after a few minutes and the speed will go back to normal.

I'm using Buffalo WHR-G125, just in case it has something to do with it.

Hello I am running windows 7 and was using version 3.2.8.1 which was working OK, then I upgraded to 3.3.0.1 and it ran after the upgrade. But after closing the program, I always get the message missing mingvw10.dll and please reinstall the program. The mingvm10.dll is in the FileZilla folder. I have tried to reinstall the old version and now I have the same problem. I have to reinstall the program to get it to work one time.

Any Ideas?

We updated our filezilla clients to 3.11.0 but then could not establish a conection to FTP server. Several users were connected earlier in the day. All failed after update to 3.11.0. No change to server or firewall. Other FTP clients will work. Error message below:

Error: The data connection could not be established: ENETUNREACH - Network unreachable.

After installing v3.10.0, every file upload attempt fails with "Could not start transfer".

It is adding remote files to the remote server. Like this...

I am trying to create a Filter following the directions outlined at ​http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Filename_Filters however whenever I click the "Ok" button on the Filter Creation dialog box the software crashes. I attempted to get the log by setting it to Verbose but the file does not seem to be saved or I can't find it

Here are the steps to recreate it (it does not matter if one is connected to a site or not):

1) Launch FileZilla 2) Go to View menu 3) Select Filename Filters 4) Select Edit filters 5) Select New 6) Give the filter a name

-Notice how the "+" button is off the edge of the dialog box

7) Select a "Filename" that "ends with" ".pdf" or "pdf" does not seem to matter 8) Click "Okay"

That is what happens to make it crash. I have a video capture of the crash process if that would be helpful.

My php program can create directories via code. When I generate a new directory and do a refresh, the new directory does not show up in the listing.

But if I open another instance of Filezilla, there it is.

I have a multi-level folder directory that could not be added to the queue to be uploaded correctly. The folder structure is similar as follows:

 - www
   - _images
     - folderA
       - folderB
         - image1.jpg
         - image2.jpg
   - _templates
     - folderC
       - folderD
         - folderE
           - folderF
             - template1.tpl
             - template2.tpl

When in the local directory, and in the www level and right-clicking on www and choosing "add files to queue", not all the files get added to the queue.

More correctly, only the files in the _images directory get added to the queue.

This worked correctly with filezilla 2.2.30 but has broken with the current version.

Appears to be similar to #4291. It does appear to be intermittent.

The red/green activity indicator lights in the lower right corner of v3.2.2.1 don't activate when receiving or sending data. I've tested this w/ a regular FTP server and FTP over SSH. The lights remain dim regardless of whether I'm uploading or downloading data.

In Filezilla 3.5.3, specify active ftp and no fallback, and a socks5 proxy. Connect to a ftp server, this is done correctly over the socks proxy. Download something, and observe that a *passive* data connection is created over the socks proxy instead of an active one.

The GUI shows the active mode been set with the correct external IP address but still teh server replies with the internal ip address (LAN IP) of the client and says cannot establish connection. On checking through a Packet Sniffer it can be seen that filezilla is actually sending the LAN IP altough in the console/log/gui it shows its sending the external IP.

Issue with 3.0.9.2 and also with 3.0.9.3 - nightly build

Steps to reproduce

1. Upload a large file (I tried a 1 TiB file) to a proftpd server with "slow" disks using default settings in active mode.
2. Once all disk caches on the server are filled (which happened always somewhere around 12 GiB) and the server has to sync the data to disk, it'll set the TCP Window Size to 0 while the data is written and synced.
3. After that, it'll increase the window size again to continue the transfer.

Expected behavior

FileZilla should consider this an active connection (as long as the tcp window size probes are still ACked ofc), report a 0 byte/s current transfer speed, and continue normally once the window size has been increased again.

Current behavior

FileZilla terminates the file transfer with the reason "connection timed out", probably because of oversight within the timeout logic. It probably only checks for 0 bytes/s transferred instead of also checking if the TCP connection is still alive and only set to a window size of 0. Funnily FileZilla tries to restart the connection but then fails because the temporary ".in.*" file still exists (A 2nd bug, or do we hit some kind of edge case here?) Also noteworthy, the retry setting was set to 5, but FileZilla did only one automatic retry and then failed the transfer. Also, the 10-second delay between retries was not honored here, as the retry happened instantly after the reset was sent to the server. And also noteworthy is that FileZilla will delete the partial upload from the server once it failed the transfer...

Workaround

Go into the options and set the timeout to 0.

But this has still undesirable side effects like no timeouts are detected anymore and the transfer will therefore get stuck completely once an actual timeout happens.

(Admittedly, another workaround is to set the delay kinda high to 5 minutes or so, but even though it would work for this connection, it'll unnecessarily slow down other transfers to different servers and also not correctly detect the connection state. It'd only work if the server manages to sync and accept data again within 5 minutes.)

Proposed fix

1st Add a TCP connection state check into the timeout detection logic (not a timeout if still packages are exchanged, see screenshot for example connection) 2nd And (maybe) add an additional option within the connection timeout section for backward compatibility like "☑️ treat a Zero TCP Window Size as timed out" with a default value of being unchecked (Enabling this option will result in the current behavior again). 3rd (purely visual), fix the connection speed that is shown in the UI, currently it never shows 0, not even if "Display momentary transfer speed instead of average speed" is enabled. 4th If the reconnect logic triggers a reset of an active file transfer, it should expect the temporary ".in.*" file already be present and automatically resume it instead of failing the transfer because it already exists. (My default file exists action is set to "Ask for action" btw, but it also didn't ask, it just failed the (unnecessarily triggered) retry) 5th honor the reconnect settings also for automatic reconnects (amount and delay in-between).

I have FileZilla 3.0.5.2, and I chose for it to shutdown on queue completion (right-click in the queue, action after queue completion, shutdown system), and when the queue completes successfully a box appears saying "system will soon shutdown unless" and a progress bar, which increases. There's a skip and a cancel button. If I leave it for the progress bar to reach the end, the window disappears, but the system does not shut down. No messages are listed in the status box at the top of the window regarding this error (where the connection and transfer messages go -- is that the only place to get this log?). If I try again, and choose "skip" instead, still nothing happens, but the progress bar window goes away. If there's any more information you need from me, please let me know. I'm using Windows XP SP2.

I believe the log you want is attached -- please let me know if this is not the case.

When navigating through folders a single click very often leads to a file or folder renaming. More than that, sometimes when I double click on the folder - it requests this folder's contents AND activates renaming feature, so when it finishes listing new folder - old renaming box stays on the screen, as if now you are renaming a file or a folder inside this new listed folder. If you hit Return - then a file in this new folder will be renamed to the name of a file from a previous folder.

I think it's a high priority bug, since I had to stop using Filezilla completely.

The problem is that the folder “First vendor” has an extra space at the end, so it was actually “First vendor ”, but we cannot see that in FileZilla client, and we cannot rename or delete the folder.

Received "You do not have permission to list this directory" when in fact Filezilla Client was given Full Disk Access and Full Folder Access in the Preferences.

I am living in china, Simplified Chinese is the mainland's offical language. I used the Filezilla 3.2.0 to login into some ftp site which have some Simplified Chinese directories. The problem is that these directories was showed abnormally in the 'Remote site:' bar as below words: '/¡ô¶¯ÂþÒ»Çø¡ô'. But these directories were showed normally in the remote directories list.

Sometimes, users cant see movies they upload in the display list whatever FTP Servers. In fact, only AVI files aren't displayed. Take an avi file, upload it, it will be in FTP but you won't see it with FileZilla. You need to use another FTP Client. More precisly, it's the file extension .AVI which isn't listed (MIME type isn't checked). Upload any files, rename it with the extension .avi, refresh, oh it disappeared !

I have had multiple problems transferring to and from various linux servers from XP with filezilla my current version is 2.2.18. this problem was noted on previous versions as well.

I have noted may other seemingly unresolved but closed complaints about this bug.

It appears the problem relates to the file being first saved to the server in binary mode, in other words the crlf pair is retained.

if you then transfer the file to a windows machine in ascii mode the file becomes corrupted.

Filezilla does not account for the crlf pair and adds an extra cr making it crcrlf so in hex 0D 0A Becomes 0D 0D 0A

This has been verified.

to repeat it upload an ascii win/dos file to a nix server in binary mode then download it in ascii mode open the file in a hex editor not the hex values as above

I beleive this is the main source of various complaints about ascii mode transfers

filezilla should check for crlf not just cr when doing the ascii nix=>win conversion. if there is a crlf pair then leave as is if there is only a lf then add the cr

Hello, At each new version upgrade, I choose "upgrade using existing settings". For most settings, it works fine, but each time the ASCII file types list is reset to the default value. I wish to only transfer dotfiles as ASCII, so at each new version I must remove the entire list of ASCII extensions. Thanks ! Ben

I have used the program on other windows 7 64bit and never had this problem.

FileZilla Version 3.0.11/Windows XP:

While in one of the filename sections of the window the ALT-key is getting ignored when pressed simultaneously with another key.

This leads to unwanted down- and uploads when ALT+SPACE is pressed to open the system menu of the program window. Other effects of that bug are only minor, e.g. corresponding menu items do not open.

If the key combinations are pressed subsequently the behaviour is as expected.

One of my users upgraded FileZilla on her Windows PC to version 3.22.0.

When she tries to connect to an AIX server she gets the following message:

On my Windows PC, I'm running FileZilla 3.7.1.1 and have no problems connecting to the AIX server.

When i doubleclick an afp-file the file will be transferred to the temporary folder and the associated program (AFPBROWSE.exe from Beta Systems) is started, but the browser does not open the file.

FileZilla client appears to have a bug in importing password-protected private keys for SFTP when encrypted with AES-256-CBC. I found no mention in docs re: the intentional exclusion of this cipher combination, plus no error message is returned, which suggests that this may be a bug. There are no relevant log entries or terminal output, even in debug mode. This was tested and confirmed on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows 10.

You can test by importing the following key through Settings > SFTP > Add key file...:

I maintain three Windows Sites at AMHOSTING.COM. These all require ACTIVE transfer mode. Now, all three sites no longer work with FileZilla.

The earlier version worked fine. Native FTP sessions with (from Windows NT; Windows Vista 32 and 64 bit) FTP sessions using SMARTFTP (using ACTIVE transfer) work fine.

Seems that everyday my copy of Filezilla is getting slower and slower to start. I believe the problem comes from the "Theme" feature which scans executable on other file to tag on a nice little image.

This scanning should be a separate thread which doesn't affect the performance of the client. Currently it hangs until this scanning is done.

Please include a Theme named "Disable" and make no file scanning is done.

To test : Put 30-40 files in a folders which are executables. Also, try to go with a loaded "My Documents" folder.

Earlier I used Foxit Reader to open PDF files but then I removed it and installed Adobe Reader. However, now whenever I try to open PDF files from FileZilla browser, it still seeks for Foxit Reader to handle them and does not associate them with Adobe Reader which is now a default program. Do you think it's a problem with my system settings or FileZilla?

When the current tab is the left most or right most tabs, and the user double clicks the right or left tabs arrows, a new tab titled 'not connected' is created at the right. The new tab will continue to be created as long as the user continues to click.

I am finding random files in my web directories, and I found a problem.

When I download a file, open it, edit it, and hit "save", the following prompt shows up:

(There is also a check box for "continue editing" which I leave unchecked)

I will click “no” and the file will uploads anyway to a random directory (not even the one that I originally downloaded the file from)

The last time it happened it was in a folder called "dev" and it uploaded to a subfolder (under dev) called "downloads". The time before I downloaded and edited a file from "style" and when I clicked "no" it uploaded to "testcart" (both directories on the same level)

I am using FileZilla Version 3.1.0.1 – most recent version at this time.

This is a bit scarry, because I am not sure if any "index" files or other files that have the same name in different directories might be overwritten when this happens.

For some reason a few of the Blukis icons look visibly jagged in my nowadays common display size (1280 x 1024)

The same icons loaded in SVG format (as posted in Filezilla forums) in Inkscape and then displayed at the same icon size/resolution (32 x 32, 64 x 64) look awesome, so this seems to be easily fixable.

This is specially evident in the icons containing the refresh circle, upload and download arrows, and the little earth.

I tried to upload a number of files into a server through FileZilla by clicking a file, then Shift Click that resulted in a selection of 11 files. Then, I drag & drop the files to the server file list.

Opted to overwrite the existing files > Always use this action > Apply to current queue only.

All the 11 transfers then failed.

Gentlement, For several days now, I have been writing several simple perl scripts, and using filezilla to upload these text files to my server, and I kept getting 'Configuration Error' when trying to run the scripts. I contacted my host tech support, and they could not find any reason as to why this error was occuring. This morning I created a simple example from an old perl book, using Notepad (windows XP of course), and uploaded it with Firefox FireFTP plugin, which shows the ASCII transfer mode, and the script worked. I have gone into filezilla Edit Settings, and under Transfers->File Types, set this to ASCII, but it does not seem to make a difference. Hi, when I uploading video files sometimes I get this error when speed is showing like: ? B/s. After this file is uploading not correct or stop uploading at all.

Example: I tried to upload 3 files on server, then I get this error and now on server I have 12 pieces of this files. It happened not only on this server, so it's probably not server problem, but I'm uploading only videos and I don't know if with other file types this error exist. I've got files on a remote server that is running right now. 1gig file transfer started off by marking/highlighting the file on the remote location tree and identifying the location on my local drive for the destination. Right click "download" and the transfer started.

I leave it to run and when I return I see only this in the remote file location window:

<Not connected to any server>

This is odd because the file transfer que seems to be still active and I'm 79% and counting along the way towards full download. Web browsing continues as normal indicating web connection.

Not sure if this is enough info or not. I hope so.

I am using Filezilla 3.1.0. Whenever I either upload files from my PC to my FTP server or download files from my FTP server to my PC, the remote site info "Filename, Filesize, Filetype, etc will disappear and the message <Not connected to any server> appears where the files should be. This message happens when I get about 1/2 of the files transferred. I am transferring about 900+ files at a time. The files transfer OK even though I get the message because I am still connected to the remote FTP server.

Two parties have verified that text files sent via FileZilla 3.3.2.1 show a new "last modified date" that is seven hours ago. Yet, others looking at the same files on the remote server using SQL Tools 1.5 see the correct timestamp.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP3, and the files are being transferred to any of several servers. In the Site Manager, we have the timezone offsets set to zero (in fact, the seven-hour error is in the wrong direction for this to be the difference between PDT and GMT.)

Here's the kicker: if you drag the affected file back from the remote server, it keeps the same wrong timestamp!

some of the servers I connect to allow me to resume partially uploaded files. When there is also a file system quota set (and maxed out) for the connecting user I've noticed an issue with FileZilla where it will loop several hundred times (inconsistent number) in an attempt to force an upload of the file.

When there are hundreds of files in the queue and each file causes four to five hundred failed upload attempts it will be hammering the server to no end for hours. It would seem more logical to cancel all uploads for a user@server/dir with an error message when there is no more quota left (i.e. the server returns a 552 error). Full is full.

When the server disables upload resuming the client will try a normal upload then only a few APPE (resulting in error 451) and then disconnect.

With ProFTPD's HiddenStores enabled (and APPE automatically disabled) the server will upload an incoming file with a temporary file name. If the transfer is interrupted with the 552 error the client will try the same upload again. Because the temporary name already exists the server returns a 550 error and FileZilla stops trying immediately.

It would also be nice to be able to set a retry limit for any kind of action and not just the connection retry limit.

I am unable to upload files onto our server due to 552 Disk full. We definitely have space on our Shoutcast server so I wonder if this is a Filezilla issue.

This happened before in August but the issue seemed to fix itself later the same day.

We exchanged today through my filezilla client with a trusty friend some data (video + audio video files the day before). We had both the password for this common server on my machine (he is in paris me in the south west of france, 2 different locations and machines), ready that we were to only use it for this exchange and re-configurate later the server. Unfortunately, when i deleted the whole files, it remained 2 in a "prefs" of the public_html: 550 Prohibited file name: .pureftpd-upload.49a01112.15.4127.1db34fbf and .pureftpd-upload.49a00928.15.1f63.841bf5d1, both cant be retrieved in anyways, match my whole hard disk when compared to the local server (which ever is selected); cannot delete or rename them. As well, trying to upload these files got me a critical error. DESPITE IT, WE HAD NO PB TRANSFEERING THE FILES ONE WAY OR THE OTHER (but is this procedure allowed? i doubt it ... now).

I would like to know: -if this procedure is allowed or forbidden -if i can change my password keeping the same host name on the local server -if these 2 files may harm or not the security of the exchanges (in normal conditions and in case i could change my password)

• if they could have been introduced here to hack voluntarly my server a3356674 hosted @ 216.108.235.38 (distant) or if it is just a consequence of a dysfunctional connexion and exchange;
• if i order to sharpen risks in the future i should prefer to open a new account (new host name)?

I should add that i can delete with no pb my other accounts, one being hosted at the same root, with the same name of server a3356674, presenting the same characteristic, and this one too (it was unchanged when i reinstall filezilla and reconnect my local server)

I ask you to forgive me for this way to practice filezilla (i know pass exchange is never a safe way), but were not very used to it and it was a pretty much emergent work, that finaly we success to provide in the deadlines, and with the only help of this very practical soft i wish to keep in my favourites...

When accessing the contents of my FritzBox 7490 there is one directory which is listed in Filezilla but cannot be accessed.

Whatever I try for that one specific directory (rename, change rights, enter) fails with message "550: No such file or directory".

All other directories are not showing this behavior. I crosschecked with other ftp client (Filezilla, see attached screenshot), here, everything works out fine.

The directory's name is "awo_haan_dbbackup", it contains 110 files using 285 MB of space.

Hi. Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm getting the "Failed To Retrieve Directory Listing" error for only one particular file. I can't download the file and I can't open it to look at the contents. It's puzzling because out of the hundreds of files I've downloaded, this is the only one that has given me a problem. Here is what I see on the log if this helps:

After last update i have this error when i try to delete directory witch is not empty. I verify this with my pro client on various type of connection and various type of servers. I try to delete folders with other client and succes.

I have been using Filezilla for over 4 years now, it recently stopped working and started giving me a 530 error. I know all my credentials are correct because I never changed them. I recently purchased new web hosting for another business that I have and same error. Here are the credentials I have tried:

Host - mydomain.com, ftp.mydomain.com, ​ftp://mydomain.com Port - 21 Protocol - FTP Encryption - Plain FTP Logon Type - Normal User - atrivisano, atrivisano@… Password - correct password

I tried to login to my FTP server via google chrome with this:

and it worked. Also, I tried coreFTP and it said I could not log in. I have tried setting to Active Mode and I have allowed Filezilla through my windows 8 firewall. My point of access for the internet has always been my iPhone Hotspot and has not changed.

My question is: How do I fix this because the File Manager on web hosts SUCKS...

I want to point out that I've looked in other posts, and I did all the things recommended by so many problem solvers....

And here are the facts:

1. It was working fine until a couple of days ago. Nothing changed.
2. I tried changing passwords.
3. I've added a new user in my hosting FTP User Management.
4. I tried adding the domain name after the user name with @ in between them. I also tried without.
5. I tried the domain name as hostname, and also the IP Address.
6. I CAN connect with WS_FTP Client to my hosting.
7. I HATE WS_FTP.
8. I LOVE FileZilla.

While uploading file via FTP I received 452 FTP message code with message 'disk quota exceeded'. FTPZilla totally doesnt take care of this message and continues with sending by command PORT. After response from server 226 - Transfer Complete, FZ starts from begining and falls in infinite loop.

Codes 4xx in FTP are linked with errors, which casues are considered as temporary. However, inteface should ask user for permission to try again transfer.
