#9550 | Repeated failure to transfer a certain file | normal | invalid | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
I just encountered an error where FileZilla repeatedly tries to transfer a file but it says it fails. I only noticed the problem on a handful of files. The ftp server is pure-ftpd 1.0.36-1.1 running on Debian. Here is a debug log from Filezilla where it attempts to get the file. I can provide more logs (from pure-ftpd as well) if needed. 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 18:24:06 Trace: FileTransferSend() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 18:24:06 Trace: state = 2 18:24:06 Command: PASV 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 18:24:06 Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (88,198,67,185,39,174) 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 18:24:06 Trace: code = 2 18:24:06 Trace: state = 2 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 18:24:06 Trace: state = 4 18:24:06 Command: RETR LGPLv3.txt 18:24:06 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnConnect 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::Handshake() 18:24:06 Trace: Trying to resume existing TLS session. 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::ContinueHandshake() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnSend() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnSend() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::ContinueHandshake() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::ContinueHandshake() 18:24:06 Trace: TLS Handshake successful 18:24:06 Trace: TLS Session resumed 18:24:06 Trace: Protocol: TLS1.2, Key exchange: RSA, Cipher: AES-256-GCM, MAC: AEAD 18:24:06 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnConnect 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 18:24:06 Response: 150-Accepted data connection 18:24:06 Response: 150 7.5 kbytes to download 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 18:24:06 Trace: code = 1 18:24:06 Trace: state = 4 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 18:24:06 Trace: state = 5 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::OnRead() 18:24:06 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnReceive(), m_transferMode=2 18:24:06 Trace: CTlsSocket::Failure(-110, 0) 18:24:06 Error: GnuTLS error -110 in gnutls_record_recv: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated. 18:24:06 Status: Server did not properly shut down TLS connection 18:24:06 Error: Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted 18:24:06 Trace: CTransferSocket::TransferEnd(3) 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 18:24:06 Response: 226-File successfully transferred 18:24:06 Response: 226 0.000 seconds (measured here), 45.89 Mbytes per second 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 18:24:06 Trace: code = 2 18:24:06 Trace: state = 5 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 18:24:06 Trace: state = 8 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferEnd() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(2) 18:24:06 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(2) 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ParseSubcommandResult(2) 18:24:06 Trace: FileTransferSubcommandResult() 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(2) 18:24:06 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(2) 18:24:06 Error: File transfer failed after transferring 7,802 bytes in 1 second 18:24:06 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(2) 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::FileTransfer() 18:24:06 Status: Starting download of /www/mango/public/twizy_notused/backend/lib/PHPMailer/LGPLv3.txt 18:24:06 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ParseSubcommandResult(0) 18:24:06 Trace: FileTransferSubcommandResult() 18:24:08 Status: Skipping download of /www/mango/public/twizy_notused/backend/lib/PHPMailer/LGPLv3.txt 18:24:08 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 18:24:08 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 18:24:08 Status: File transfer skipped 18:24:08 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(0) 18:24:08 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(0) 18:25:08 Status: Disconnected from server 18:25:08 Trace: CControlSocket::DoClose(64) 18:25:08 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(66) 18:25:08 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(66) 18:25:08 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(66) 18:25:08 Trace: CControlSocket::DoClose(64) 18:25:08 Trace: CControlSocket::DoClose(64) 18:25:08 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(0) |

#4111 | Repeatedly connects to server and disconnects because of ""Bad packet length 3605174332" | normal | rejected | 15 years | 15 years
Description |
I tried dragging a folder from my remote site to my local folder. At one point it said that the file existed on my local directory and what would I like to do. I selected Overwrite, Always perform this action, and clicked OK. Then I started noticing it kept disconnecting because of bad packet lengths. This has happened a lot. I know my connection is somewhat spotty, but I don't think it should be happening this much (and I tried the same operation of copying a folder to my local drive using VanDyke's SecureFX 6.1 and it worked fine). Also, at some point in the middle of all of this, the Stop button got disabled, which meant I had to close Filezilla to stop the transactions (it would go on forever). Also, a folder named "1211079332421" appeared mysteriously inside my local folder, with some weird files in it. I have attached all the output that was printed before I closed Filezilla. |

#4197 | Resume File Upload Ver. 3.2.0 Not Working | normal | outdated | 15 years | 12 years
Description |
I'm trying to upload a 700MB file to my web site. The connection inevitably interrupts before the entire file is uploaded. When I try to upload again, I get a screen from FileZilla asking me to select from several options - i.e. overwite, skip, resume, etc. I select resume and it attempts to resume the upload, but it doesn't work. The upload status bar appears and a few bytes transfer and then it resets and tries again. It does this at least 10 times before stopping. It never makes any progress. The resume works with other FTP programs, but for some reason FileZilla uploads 10 times faster than all other programs. I wish I could use it, but it just won't work. |

I use vsftpd as ftp server. Vsftpd does not have any limitation with the size of files and it permits to resume downloads of large files. I have tried KFTPGrabber and this allows me to stop/resume downloading files larger than 4GB. However, the same situation with FileZilla tells me: "The server does not allow resume files over 4 GB". This is not true! |

Description |
Sometimes Filezilla RESUMES the file instead of replacing it. I was hard to find WHY. Some files have become huge, since everytime filezilla was adding (resuming) again and again. But i found it. One of the files was an access db, named "DUgallery.mdb". It seems that the two first capital letters were confusing Filezilla. When renamed to lower letters, everything seems ok. But it is hard to check each and every filename .... Please take a look at it ! Thanks ! |

It's not seems to be a server error because pure-http download manager (downloadthemall firefox extension or gigaget) download the same file without errors even with lot of stop/resume operations. |

I enabled verbose but nothing appears in the log when I right click. This latest version of FileZilla was downloaded from FileZilla website and earlier version which I had was installed via Synaptic Package Manager and that too had the same problem. #10840 | Round Robin DNS support for SFTP | normal | duplicate | 8 years | 8 years
Description |
There is currently a discrepancy in behaviour between using FTP and SFTP with servers using a Round Robin DNS configuration where a single domain lists multiple IP addresses in its type A or AAAA records. With FTP, the Filezilla client will attempt to connect each listed IP address until finding a working one for the host, whereas with SFTP, Filezilla will only randomly try a single one and then fail immediately if that one fails. The vanilla BSD sftp client on the command line will correctly try each IP address until finding a working one. This would be a desireable behaviour for the Filezilla client as well. See screenshots below displaying different behaviours for FTP and SFTP on a host with round robin DNS configured. FTP tries all 3 hosts, while SFTP only tries to connect to one. https://seravo.fi/ftp-round-robin.png https://seravo.fi/sftp-round-robin.png |

#4809 | SFTP Connection Erratic (Network error: Software caused connection abort) | normal | wontfix | 15 years | 10 years
Description |
Having consistent problems connecting to a host via SFTP using FileZilla. Have had no problems when connecting with the latest PuTTY psftp command line, Core FTP LE, and Ultra Edit (yes, its built-in FTP client). Most of the time FileZilla won't establish a connection at all; I've managed to connect on occasion by simply hammering the remote server with repeated connection attempts and no timeout. I have tried toggling different servertypes, active/passive, etc. It seems to get hung up trying to execute the key exchange. I've found several references to a similar issue but there was no satisfactory resolution contained therein. I'm not running any firewall software and our hardware router and firewall logs show nothing unusual. Basically, why would FileZilla fail repeatedly only to finally connect on some random attempt? Here is the full debug log of the connection attempts showing only the last one to be successful. Please let me know if I can provide any further information. 14:54:02 Trace: CControlSocket::DoClose(64) 14:54:02 Trace: CControlSocket::DoClose(64) 14:54:02 Status: Connecting to X.X.X.X... 14:54:02 #3866 | SFTP Directory List Fails | normal | rejected | 16 years | 10 years
Description |
I have this problem on several servers. I can connect fine, but once the system attempts to get the directory listing (Pwd) it fails. These are servers used in HealthCare by several other organizations without any issue, and even our automated tools appear to have no issue navigating the directory structure. |

#1178 | SFTP Login | normal | 18 years | 18 years
Description |
I login to a server via SFTP using the IP address. The server name is set to some name like "server". I have a user id ssrini on the server. When I login from FileZilla, the user name is automatically set to ssrini@ipaddress but this login will not be found on the server and authentication fails. If I set login id to ssrini@server the login id is set by FileZilla to ssrini@server@ipaddress and this is also wrong. How do I setup FileZilla to not append any data to the user id specified ? (I can do this in the Putty SFTP command line client easily !) Regards Srini |

Description |
I can sftp to my server using filezilla which is running SLES 11 SP2. I have a VM running SLES 12 and it cannot sftp to it. I verified both sshd_config and they are identical and sftp is enabled. I can use SFTP option in winscp and it works fine with SLES 12 VM guest but FileZilla sftp timed out as shown below. I guess that many people have this problem reported on web but no answer. Every machine is behind firewall and when WinSCP using SFTP works but not FileZilla. Status: Connecting to 192.168.142.101... #794 | SFTP download fails with "no such file or directory" | normal | 19 years | 10 years
Description |
I have tried to get support for this at the forum, but no ideas. See the thread at: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php? t=606&highlight=sftp The problem appears to be with SFTP in particular. The connection to the users home directory works fine, but issuing "download" in the home directory fails. Text from the thread: We are trying to pull files down to the client via Filezilla's SFTP client and we are having a problem. The server is OpenSSH 3.7.1p2. When doing view/edit or download all return the following output: Status: Starting download of /home/username/test.ksh Command: GET test.ksh C:\Documents and Settings\username.domain\Desktop\test.ksh FALSE Response: /home/usernametest.ksh: no such file or directory Error: Download failed It looks like the response is missing a / between the directory and the filename. Is this a known issue? FYI...I tried to do the same transfer with the PuTTy client directly with the same results. I have been successful with the ssh.com client and OpenSSH commandline client from UNIX. I am attaching a debug trace if it helps. This is hight priority for us as we can't donwload any files through SFTP using Filezilla. I have tested with the same results on Filezilla 2.2.8a through 2.2.10. The problem still exists. Cheers, Keehan P.S. From the thread...it is interesting to note the same problem directly in puTTY. Perhaps the problem is puTTY directly. |

I can connect and login, list files, etc., but as soon as I double click or select transfer, I get a hard crash. I am on the current version of Filezilla (3.3.2) but this has been happening a while with older versions as well. This does not happen on the same client machine with many other SFTP installations (including Solaris), so I am concluding that it is some oddity between the OpenSUSE SSH server. The OpenSSH version on the server is 5.1p1-40.15. I also see no logs on the server side indicating any type of error. |

Description |
We had created a new SFTP username and password for one of our servers and although the login was tested and worked with WinSCP, it returned an authentication failure using FileZilla. The password's last character was a pound sign (£) and on the suspicion that it might be causing a problem, we removed that last character. The login then worked correctly on both WinSCP and FileZilla. I've looked around the FileZilla wiki but can't find mention of non-alphanumeric characters in passwords with are likely to cause problems. Any information would be appreciated. |

#12102 | SFTP uploads to Cerberus Server of 1GB+ fail | normal | rejected | 4 years | 4 years
Description |
Our clients cannot upload large files to our Cerberus server v11 - anything 1 Byte over 1GB from a fileshare fails. Connection seems to reset and FZPro thinks the file is already there and asks to overwrite etc. If the file is on the computer local to FZPro the transfer works. As far as I can tell this issue started with v3.46.1 – 3.46.0 worked OK. Issue happens with older versions of Cerberus too – tried a rolledback version of our server using v10 and the same issue. A quick fix is to turn FileZilla's default connection timeout of 20 seconds off but our client does not see that as an acceptable solution (their users are prevented from making changes in the client - they are a financial institution). Logs attached of a failed transfer (filezilla20sectimeout.log), a successful transfer (filezilla20sectimeout) and the corresponding Cerberus server log. File used was a 4GB Windows 10 installer – tested the successful upload by downloading it and doing an install from it. Filezilla version is Filezilla Pro 3.46.3 and Cerberus version is 11.0.8.0 on a fully patched Windows Server 2019 AWS instance. |

Description |
We are seeing scrambled permissions set with FileZilla 3.10.1.1. Multiple web developers have uploaded content to a web server that should have directory permissions of 775 and file permissions of 644. The server's umask is set to these values as a default, and previous versions of FileZilla uploaded files without problem. After a blanket update from 3.9.06 to 3.10.1.1, uploaded directories had permissions set to 7644, 755, or in some cases 700. Uploaded files had permissions set to 640 or, in some cases, 700. The client machines were running both Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.9. Reuploading the files using a non-FileZilla FTP client (Fetch on Macs, WS_FTP on Windows) had permissions properly set. Downgrading to FileZilla 3.7.3 (what we had cached) corrected the permissions problem, though it has other issues. |

If you are using an asterisk ("*") wildcard in any query (i.e. contains) except the regex query in the search remote files dialog, there will be no results. As a workaround, a regular expression can be used, which is working as expected. |

#3200 | Searching with keyboard doesn't work anymore | normal | 17 years | 17 years
Description |
In Filezilla 2 it was possible to navigate a remote ftp-server with the keyboard. When pressing a key, Filezilla navigated to the first file starting with that letter. This also worked with multiple files with the same first letter, in that case you could cycle between those files. It seems this functionality is gone in Filezilla 3 rc2. Test case:
Expected: Filezilla would navigate to the file with the corresponding first letter Seen: Nothing happens Version: 3.0.0 rc2, 2007-08-26 |

#8024 | Section sign (§) in password does not work for SFTP | normal | invalid | 12 years | 12 years
Description |
With an account I connect to via SFTP, which has a section sign (§) in its password, I can not authenticate. If I remove just that single character from the password, it works though. Authentication and usage works with other Client WinSCP; so it is very probably an issue of FileZilla. |

#11561 | Segmentation fault on start up. running on wayland. | high | rejected | 6 years | 6 years
Description |
How to recreate: start application, flickers and crashes. Filezilla version: filezilla 3.32.0-1 libfilezilla 0.12.1-1 latest from official Arch repo What I have tried so far: deleting config file. that didn't help, downgrading filezilla, that didn't help either. Try to downgrade wayland didn't help either. Everything worked like 2 days ago, after some updates, I cannot run filezilla. Unfortunately I didn't check which packages I updated but must have been something for wayland/gdk
running on wayland. Starting program: /usr/bin/filezilla [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1".
