#12260 All transfers fail Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Hello,

I use Filezilla for 10 years uploading video to different stocks. Three weeks ago I lost ability to get any successful transfer to Shutterstock. Uploads to Adobestock are OK. Here below I explain the problem and copy the log.

  • For three weeks I cannot get any positive transfer on Filezilla (Cyberduck shows the same problem) uploading my 4K video files mp4
  • No problems with uploading to other footage stocks
  • Filezilla version and my PC data is attached No1
  • I tried all possible setting of FZ but no result. My usual setting you can see attached No2
  • I tried to upload on three different PC – the same
  • Transfer starts and proceeds with no problem, reaches 100%, waits and starts again. You can see screen shot of the waiting and the log in this moment attached No3
  • If I change the time of the waiting still it will start again and again but later
  • I have good internet by the way
  • The transfer of the file was done twice then it dropped to the Fail box of Filezilla as you see attached No4 and No5. Below this letter can see the log of these two transfers and failure also I attach No 6 the screen shot of the file as it appeared on my SS Submit content page. I NEVER MANAGE TO RECEIVE SUCCESSFUL RESULT SHOWED BY FILEZILLA but the files are transferred. Corrupted or not I don’t know. But SS gives me failure note attached No7.
  • I live in Turkey. Fethiye city, Mugla region. The transfer trial has been done 28 August 2020 around 16:40-17:10. I tried in different time different days. No result.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me marinabmw@… or whatsapp +905306008857.

I hope for your assistance because SS is failing to answer me.

Best regards, Maryna

#10811 All transfers reported successful when local disk full Bug report high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

While processing a download queue, if a local disk becomes full, FileZilla aborts downloading to this disk and reports these files as successful.

Please see attached file for:

a) FileZilla build details and system details b) A sample log excerpt from a FileZilla session. Approximately 24 files were being downloaded, each between 150 MiB and 250 MiB. Names, paths and hostnames were redacted. No lines within this excerpt were omitted.

Expected behaviour: When target local disk is full, files being downloaded to this disk are reported as failed and show up in Failed transfers. Subsequent file downloads in the queue, to the same disk, should also be reported as failed. FileZilla's notification, when the queue is processed, should report an error.

Actual behaviour: All affected files are reported as Successful, show up in the Successful transfers list, and the FileZilla tooltip reports that all files transferred successfully.

Observations: The files being downloaded when disk becomes full are truncated, as expected. Other files in the queue are created as zero-byte files.

#5342 Allow 'untar' and 'gunzip' from filezilla client Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Many times I upload a .tar.gz to my site using filezilla and then I have to login with putty, cd to the correct directory and then run tar zxvf command to unzip and untar it.

Would be nice if that command could somehow be run thru filezilla (like in the right-click menu)!

Thanks for an otherwise great product!

#2020 Allow 4-digit values in Feature request normal Unknown
Description

Dear all,

FileZilla currently allows to specify only three-digit numeric values to change the file attributes of a file or directory, which means that one cannot set for instance any sticky bits (which require a 2xxx, 4xxx or 6xxx value). Would it be possible to change this in a future version of FileZilla, so that one can set attributes with the standard interface rather than having to use the raw FTP command?

Kind regards,

Bo

#2440 Allow FTP clients to run external programs on the server Feature request normal FileZilla Server rejected
Description

There would extremely nice if the server would implement support for extending functionality via FTP "site" commands, for example by configuring an external program to be ran, passing the "site" partameters as arguments to that program. Furthermore, even better would be that the server is able to load some plugin dll's and call a standard function in it, passing the "site" arguments. This in ideea that the function returns a string which is returned to the client as response to the "site" command. I would like to write such a dll for doing some custom adminstration on my home server remotely.

#3012 Allow Multiple FTP connection via Tabs Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I used to be a big fan of SmartFTP until they started charging for the Home version. The best featured I liked in their client, was the ability to leave multiple FTP connections open at the same time via tabs on top. I work on about a dozen different sites all the time, so it is very helpful for me to keep those connections open, then just click on the tab for the appropriate connection and drag-drop files to the FTP clinent to FTP them up.

#9878 Allow OPTS UTF8 ON before logon Bug report normal FileZilla Server fixed
Description

The FileZilla server does not need for clients to send it the UTF8 option, as it is always in UTF8 mode, but it should still allow the UTF8 option before logon.

Clients may be in doubt whether they can send usernames or passwords that contain non-ASCII characters.

Here is a log of a failing logon of a client that wants to switch to UTF8 mode before logon:

#2456 Allow RNTO to overwrite an existing file Feature request normal FileZilla Server rejected
Description

It would be nice if FileZilla server had an option for ignore errors when the RNTO command points to an existing file. I mean that if a client sends a RNFR <filename1> and a RNTO <filename2>, the server now sends always an error if a file named <filename2> already exists. I'd like to choose the behaviour in order to avoid this. regards

#10931 Allow TCP null packet keep alive Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Note: This is a proposal for the FileZilla client, but it would also make sense for servers that are behind a "stupid" NAT device.

Most NAT routers forget open TCP connections after 20 seconds, which causes TCP connections to be silently dropped without the OS being notified.

This is most easily notified if an FTP connection is left idle for about 30 seconds. Any FTO operation (file download, entering directory, etc) then is performed on a dead connection, which then does nothing for 20 seconds, until the connection is forcibly terminated and Filezilla reconnects.

At the moment, this can be fixed with the "send FTP keep-alive commands" options. This however is not needed and is intended for another type of problem. Instead a TCP null packet could be sent (a packet without content). At least in Windows, this can be configured by setting the SO_KEEPALIVE flag and then defining the timeout (I propose 15 seconds). This option can be observed in action on PuTTY (see "Connections" category).

The great thing about this is, that the TCP stack handles the keepalive interval. There is no need for filezilla to manually send any packets. The OS only sends packets if the connection has been idle for the specified number of seconds.

Proposals

adding additional options on the "Connection page"

  • enable TCP keep alive: Checkbox; This sets the SO_KEEPALIVE option.
  • keep-alive interval: Number input; This sets the interval (15 seconds by default)

Adapting the Network settings wizard

Adding a configuration page for the keepalive settings

The network wizard tries to figure out the external IP at some point. If the IP is different from the local listening endpoint (ie. Computer uses a private IP address) then the keepalive configuration page should have the appropriate option already pre selected to allow the user to "continue with the default".

MSDN article: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ee470551(v=vs.85).aspx

Note: SO_KEEPALIVE is also available in linux as it is part of the TCP specification.

#2011 Allow a specific range of ports to use for PASV connection Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It seems that I must currently set my firewall to allow outgoing connections on ANY port > 1024. Could we please allow the user to specify a limited range of ports for Filezilla Client to use, allowing the firewall to be configured more tightly? Maybe the GUI could be integrated with Feature Request 875817, also related to PASV connections. And, my thanks for this great software!

#2178 Allow blind parent directories Feature request normal Other
Description

One of the features of a unix permission system is that you can set the execute permission on a directory to allow a user to 'cd' through the directory without being able to read the directory. This means you have to know the path where you want to go. The advantage is that users (especially if they don't know our directory structure) are unable to 'browse' through our directory tree.

Most FTP clients I have used allow for this feature by allowing us to set up a site profile for a user that takes them directly to the directory they need to access. They are either unable to 'cd' up (..) to the parent directory, or if they are able, once there they see nothing.

When I try to access one of these directories using FileZilla, even though it is able to read the directory I want, it fails because it can't read the parent directory. In fact, it appears to need read access for the parent directories all the way to '/'.

I would like to be able to see a remote directory which I have access to even if I do not have read access to the directories above it.

An example on our system is the directory /datatel/live/collive/_HOLD_. The directory permissions are:

drwxr-xr-x / drwxrwx--x /datatel drwxrwx--x /datatel/live drwxrwx--x /datatel/live/collive drwxrwxr-x /datatel/live/collive/_HOLD_

Users should be able to retrive files from the _HOLD_ directory, but should not be able to get a directory listing from any level above that.

Thanks

Don

I work with a vendor who runs their FTP server on z/OS. The FTP response doesn't always list the date, time and size for the files. Description

In fileZilla, their is a global option : "Allow downloading of files with are open for writing by another process" This is good, but unfortunatly not so good as it's a global option. in fact we need this option for some special users (who need to access some log file currently open for writing) but for all other users we need this option to be set as false (like it is by default).

we already implement it using the source code on svn, we can send the modifications we have done if you needed ...

#2138 Allow for REGEX definitions of ASCII files Feature request normal Other
Description

It would be helpfull to allow AUTO transfers to use regular expression rather than just the extension for definition of which files should have ASCII cr-lf/nl translations perfomed. A case in point: the file HECinstall300.30 is ACSII and the file hec3EVer300.F.30 is binary. An ASCII translation could be defined for HECinstall* using a REGEX definintion. This would allow auto mode to properly convert HECinstall300.30 and leave hec3EVer300.F.30 alone. When Version 400 or version 300.31 are available that definition would still work. Watcha think?

#2117 Allow local filesystem to be another ftp server Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I would love to see if the "Local filesystem" on the left hand side could be another ftp server. This way I would be able to transer files from one ftp server to another ftp server without having to down load and then re upload the files.

I believe that this can be accomplished in non-passive sessions.

Filezilla would connect to server a, and server b.

Issue the transfer command to server a but specify server b IP, then issue server b to port command to accept server a's request.

I do not know if this is too complicated and if it is only available to ftp. At minimum it would be nice to connect to two ftp servers and have filezilla maintain "tempory" files while the transfer is happening.

#3978 Allow setting download/upload speed limits for a connection Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

allow an additional over-riding setting in the connection properties which would determine the max upload / download speed for that connection, instead of having to change the global setting dependant on which connection I am using. This is to limit the effect of my download on a server which has multiple uses, but not on any of the other servers I connect to.

#2891 Allow the server to automatically start in a disabled state Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

I have the FileZilla Server installed as service on a server that only I have access to. It is set to offline most of the time and only switched online for a specific download task (security reasons).

Several people have access to the Server Interface to be able to switch it online temporarily. It would be ideal if it were possible to set the FTP Server offline at startup of the service, now I have to do this manually (and remember it in particular) after a reboot of the server. Setting the service to start manually wouldn´t help me since I´m the only one with access to the service and the other users rely on the FilZilla Server service to provide them access to the Server Interface.

#2221 Allow time zone specification Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I normally use the option "overwrite if newer". When I connect to a server in a different time zone, that server uses its local time as the date of the file. FileZilla compares that timestamp with the timestamp on my machine and often makes a wrong decision about which file is newer. If I could associate a time zone with each site I would be able to trust the overwrite option without having to remember what time zone a site is in.

A "time zone differential" setting for each site would also be useful, but only so long as I was using FileZilla from my home or office, not while I am traveling and using my laptop.

If FileZilla already has such an option, it is well hidden and not indexed in the help file.

#2118 Allow to switch off or hide local view Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

It would be a nice improvement if one could switch off local view so that only remote view remains visible.

This is quite useful when using drag and drop with Windows Explorer to upload and download files or when just organizing files on the server.

Then, the local view is unnecessary and it would be nice if it would be possible to switch it off (including local tree view, of course).

#10650 Alphabetical order of files is not honored when queuing Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When adding a dirtree to the download queue, filezilla does not honor the alpha order of the file names when I believe that it should or at least offer an option to do so.

One can reproduce this very easily: On the server from which to download, do:

mkdir test cd test for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; do touch $i; done

Now connect to the server with filezilla and drag the "test" folder into the download queue and begin downloading. The order is not: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

For me, the order was: 6 1 2 4 8 5 3 9 7

#5067 Already Connected dialog should include option to set choice as default Patch high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

The Already Connected dialog is klunky and bothersome because it nags every time the user uses the quick connect feature on an existing connection. The reason the user is using the quick connect feature (the little down arrow on the Site Manager button) is to save clicks... Only to be repeatedly confronted with the same question over and over again: An "Already Connected" dialog asking if the user wants to change the existing connection or start a new tab.

The dialog should include a checkbox "Set as default (can be changed in Edit -> Settings)", The user should have the option to check the box, setting a default, and should be able to change or remove the default in preferences.

Thanks!

#2686 Alter SYST reply to increase security Feature request normal FileZilla Server
Description

Is it possible to alter the "SYST" reply so that it doesn't report to the client that the server is FileZilla?

An example of the returned string can be: 215 UNIX Type: L8

Reason for asking is to enhance security - to make it harder to figure out what the server is.

I'm not sure if this has been raised before but I couldn't seem to find any.

Or, have I missed out an option somewhere? - but it looks like it's hard coded into the EXE...

I'm running FileZilla Server version 0.9.23 beta.

#10818 Alternative Midnight Format Causes 24:00 To Be Prefixed To the File Name & Unable To Retrieve Tim Kosse Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

We connect to a client which uses Alternative Midnight Format (24:00) timestamps when retrieving directory listings using sFTP.

This system has logs, several of which roll at midnight, making the occurrence of these timestamps somewhat common.

When a directory listing is performed against the server, the data returned is:

(file name = testdate,
file size = 3 bytes,
file timestamp = 4/5/2016 00:00 == 4/4/2016 24:00)
1459828800 -rw------- 1 99999999 0 3 Apr 4 24:00 testdate

The client window shows the file name as "24:00 testdate" and properly shows the date/timestamp as 2016-04-05 00:00 when using ISO 8601 format.

When retrieving the file, the command sent is:

get "24:00 testdate" "c:\temp1\24_00 testdate"

and fails because the file indicated in the command does not exist. Other commands against the file also fail for the same reason.

It is my understanding that ISO 8601 indicates midnight as 00:00 or 24:00 of the day prior, both being valid formats.

The popup prompt says self-signed certificate (which is true, as I used the FileZilla Server to generate the cert, several versions ago), error at depth 1 in the chain.

#444 Ambiguous wording in install startup option Bug report normal Unknown
Description

This one should be easy to fix (as long as someone actually knows what this option does:) The ambiguous text is:

"Do not install as service, started automatically (not recommended)"

This is found in the FileZilla_Server_0_8_6.exe setup:

Startup Settings

Select startup behaviour for FileZilla Server

Please choose how FileZilla Server should be started:

"Do not install as service, started automatically (not recommended)" (3rd option)

It's ambiguous because it leaves you wondering whether it will be started automatically or not.

I recommend changing to:

"Do not install as service and do not start automatically. (not recommended)"

as long as that is indeed what that option means.

I'm using FileZilla client 3.3.3 and when I use the ampersand (&) symbol in a password for a site it is stored in the XML file as '&' not '&'. If I manually change it from '&' to '&' then FileZilla is ok until I update the site or close and reopen FileZilla. Updating the site affects 'sitemanager.xml' and closing affects 'filezilla.xml' (<LastServer><Pass> tag), thus 'filezilla.xml' cannot be read and the default settings are used.

I've attached screen shots of the errors generated for each of these files.

#4627 Annoying password popup when upload queue fails repeatedly Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When uploading a file, if the FTP server closes the connection, FileZilla client asks me for my password in a popup for immediate reconnection.

This is annoying when the FTP server systematically closes the connection (for example because I have exceeded the limit of simultaneous connections and the server has put me on a 10 minute timeout). FileZilla's password popup steals focus from the main window so that it's impossible to stop the queue processing. Trying to close the popup just makes it open again immediately. Effectively the only way to escape the situation is to close the popup as many times as there are files on the queue.

#761 App stops reading remote dir and refuses further interaction Bug report normal Other
Description

When I try to enter certain directories that have *many* files on my friend's SFTP server, Filezilla ultimately stops transferring data, doesn't display the directory, and refuses to have anything else to do with the server until disconnect and following reconnect.

I'm using Windows 98SE, and this bug *might* be related to the amount of available resources in Windows, since Filezilla DOES work correctly when Windows has been freshly rebooted, but the problem occurs again when Windows has been on for sufficiently long.

Along, I've attached a log file where I performed the said thing, with the suggested debug checkmarks turned on.

#899 Apparent invalid response to AUTH TLS command Bug report normal FileZilla Server
Description

Several of us are having issues trying to run FTP/S from IBM's mainframe FTP client to FZS. The mainframe sends "AUTH TLS" to which FZS responds with what IBM says the RFC says is an invalid 334 response.

The IBM z/OS mainframe client thus never achieves a log on. We are seeing similar behavior out of the gFTP client from Red Hat Linux.

This sequence is described in the FZ Help forum from the thread at: From Thread: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1295591&forum_id=68109

To quote the relevant exchanges:

By: krupa38 - mwarnecke FZS with AUTH TLS and z/OS FTP client 2005-06-03 07:45 I tried to connect to FZS 0.9.8 with IBM's z/OS FTP client and AUTH TLS. A IP packet trace shows that after sending the AUTH TLS command FZS sends back a "334 Using authentication type TLS" which in turn is answered by "QUIT" from the client immediately. Does the client miss the the optional ADAT= data ? Any help would be welcome.

By: Dave Gibney - gibney RE: FZS with AUTH TLS and z/OS FTP client 2005-06-08 18:14 This is a response to this question on an IBM forum: You are getting a 334 response back. The IBM client is expecting the SSL server to send back a 234. When you send a AUTH TLS a 234 is the only response the IBM client will accept. I ran into this problem with a windows server. I opened a problem with IBM after reading RFC2228 when it appeared from the surface a 334 was a valid response. Here is IBM reply to my etr: RFC2228 is a generic security RFC. the TLS specific information can be found at URL below http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-murray-auth-ftp-ssl-16.txt where it states... 5.2 Server wants a secured session The FTP protocol does not allow a server to directly dictate client behaviour, however the same effect can be achieved by refusing to accept certain FTP commands until the session is secured to an acceptable level to the server. in either case, the server response to an 'AUTH TLS' command which it will honour, is '234'. The '334' response as defined in RFC-2228 implies that an ADAT exchange will follow. This document does not use the ADAT command and so the '334' reply is incorrect. . let us know if that answer your question

When we replace FZS with commercial FTP servers such as the GlobalScape Secure FTP Server, the IBM mainframe is able to successfully connect.

Many corporate and contract users are going to have to interact with the IBM mainframe platform. Please consider resolving this issue.

#11485 Appears to be variance in Filezilla allocating the correct download bandwidth especially when downloading multiple files Other low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I love Filezilla and till this latest version it has been excellent at downloading multiple files (for me it downloads 2 simultaneously) and while doing so maxing the bandwidth and splitting it pretty much evenly between the files.

This latest version seems to occasionally (say 5 out of every 10 loads of the program) either (1) pick up only a fraction of the available bandwidth for single file downloads, and/or (2) allocate the bandwidth unevenly between multiple files, e.g. 1 will get 300-600 KiB/s with the second getting 4.1MiB/s.

The workaround for the above is to right click on one of the downloading files, and uncheck 'Process Queue'. If I then wait for like 10 secs, the bandwidth seems to be allocated correctly (2.1MiB/s to each file).

NOTE: this has happened over several days, and after restarts of both the FTP server supplying the files, the modem, and computer running Filezilla. I did not notice it in previous versions. It therefore seems like it could be some kind of low priority issue.

Thanks for a great product and for any help with this issue.

#528 Append/Restart not permitted (error) Bug report normal Other
Description

Resume bug when uploading files I have latest version 2.2.2 of FileZilla. When the upload breaks and I then resume it, it doesn't work. Instead of that I get this error message: Append/Restart not permitted, try again. Upload fails over and over again. I need to delete original file.

It seems that this error was corrected fot ASCII transfered files but it still doesn't work for BINARY tranfer.

I need to mention that I have set file tranfer mode to overwrite but the File Zilla still uses APPE command and I am getting terribly tired from this error. I'd be happy to have it fixed soon, since it is the problem I have since I started to use File Zilla a year ago and none of later version didn't deal with this little but very annoying bug. Otherwise it is excellent program.

#11447 Apply remote directory filters remotely (on read) Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

It appears that file and directory filters placed on the remote directory are applied locally, after all files are read from the remote directory. For the sake of performance with certain operations on large directories, it would be helpful to be able to apply these filters remotely.

To be more precise, it appears that current functionality executes an "ls" command, and then filters the results. It would be nice to have a way of executing a command like "ls filter*" or "ls *filter".

I'd be happy to help with testing this modification. Might even be able to assist with implementation.

I decided I wanted to cancel it, but the other stuff (a whole folder with about 50 files) was the wrong thing. so I started rightclick>cancel right click>cancel etc. I moved my hand just a Little too far just one time, and lost everything. I had accidently clicked the cancel all button. I am unnterly fuming with rage inside right now, the upload was well over 60%, it has been going for several hours, and I don't want to use up all the servers bandwidth just uploading one movie.

could you add a feature where if you hit sopt all remove all it will ask you FIRST, so this will not happen by accident anymore?

#2664 Associate Local and Server Directories Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'd like the option to associate a local directory with a server directory, and have that association maintained automatically by the FileZilla client.

For example, I could associate my local directory "W:\web\foo\root" with the server directory "/user1234/main". Then, when I change my local directory to "W:\web\foo\root\src\frotz", the server directory would automatically switch to "/user1234/main/src/frotz" as well.

For this option to be complete, the pairing could be either recursive or non-recursive.

Deeper (more specific) associations should override shallower associations. For example:

C:\a\b\q ==> /x/y/q C:\a\b\q\r\s ==> /x/y/z/s

would define a set of pairings such that the s directory pairing would override the pairing that would otherwise have been specified in the first line.

Of course, for a simpler first implementation, having a single recursive association per site would be sufficient for 99.9% of the cases.

#5323 Associating "Public" permission with a windows user or group for CHMOD commands. Feature request normal FileZilla Server rejected
Description

Hi, As you know, CHMOD command is for Unix like systems. But there is a solution for Windows. And the ftp servers that support custom SITE commands can do CHMOD command. If Filzezilla server supports assigning "public", "group" and "owner" permissions to a windows user or group, we can use chmod commands even if the os is windows. But how? The answer is here: IIS has anonymous users to access the file system. For example, if a php script can access to a folder, it can access via iis_domain.com user which is an anonymous user account in Windows. And IIS run php script with this user. So, if iis_domain.com user doesn't has any write access to a folder, php script can't write to this folder. In unix, the user can use CHMOD to give write permission to public (anonymous) user. So, If there is an option in filezilla server, we can assign a windows user to "public" permission of CHMOD. For example, we can assign iis_domain.com to "public" permission, and if we send, SITE CHMOD xx6 A_Folder filezilla server will execute this: cacls.exe A_Folder /E /G "iis_domain.com":C

So CHMOD can be used in windows host. It is very very useful for shared web hosting.

Every chmod's public permission command has equivalent in windows permission: xx4 => :R (Read) xx6 => :C or :RW(Change) xx7 => :F (Full) xx2 => :W (Only Write) xx1 => :X (Only Execute) xx5 => :RX etc..

Regards.

#7744 At 16,385 files, Filezilla goes into an infinite loop Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I have done 3 times. I am using FileZilla 3.5.1 on my PC, MS-Windows, Ver 5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_....:Service Pack 3) I want to transfer 62,424 files, with names like PHO_0xxxxxxx-5_1003457.HL7;1 to an USB drive (E:) on my PC. I am connected to a VAX OpenVMS V8.2. To gather the names (LIST in FTP) takes about an hour. I then do a CTRL-A on the names in the "remote directory" screen, and put it into the "Home" screen. I am also watching My "Task Master" Perforamce tab, to watch the CPU Usage screen. After about 45 minutes, CPU Usage becomes 100% usage and no more files are being copied. I "stop" Filezilla and check the number of files on my USB "Memery stick" and all 3 times the same number files, 16,385. 16,385 = 214 + 1. These files are anywhere 1KB big to 120KB big. And they are 100% text files, or HL7 files.

If possible, let me know. Thanks

#2849 Attach a "Enter Custom Command" editbox to window Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

it would be great if there were an option to attach a simplified simple editbox that did the same thing as the "Enter Custom Command" dialog, below the log, or below the file list of the remote view, or somewhere in the gui

it would greatly simplify adminning tasks when using lots of site-commands for adding/removing users and flags

#2699 Attach users to multiple groups. Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Server
Description

It was mentioned that the capability to do this is indeed located in the filezilla server source, but is not implemented. However I think having the ability to assign users to more than one group within the server interface would be a very handy capability and streamline the process of setting the server up for those of us with complex directory structures or users that need specific access for short periods of time to other groups.

#4600 Attack during identification process ? Bug report high FileZilla Server outdated
Description

Hi,

I have installed FZS 0.9.31 on a windows XP SP3 box a month ago for a private use: there is a small number of well known clients. And during this month, FZS has going crazy several times. CPU skyrockets to 100% with someone connected but no user identified in the list of users in the admin console.

It always follows the same scheme: someone tries to authentify 2 or 3 times with the same username (USER command), without giving any password (no PASS command) and FZS go crazy. Kicking or banning user make FZS go back to normal.

I have played with almost all the options of FZS without any succes. And I can't sum up my tries here but they have had no effects. Then, I have tried the following workarounds:

  • create a simple "Administrator" disabled account - not working
  • create a simple "Administrator" enabled account with password - not working
  • create a simple "Administrator" enabled account with password and SSL required - working

But after this, the "attacker" change the user from "Administrator" to "oracle" and here we go again ...

I can't create an account for each potential name that hacker-maniacs out there will try. So if someone has a solution.

I don't know if is is a security bug and if it concerns others versions of FZS.

An OPTIONAL audible alert for FileZilla Server so that you can know when a client connects without watching the tray icon or having the screen open.

That would be great!
