#5227 | Ftp upload through websense ftp proxy fails most of the time, opened ticket with websense and they said we shall use cureftp or totalcommander and we tested CureFTP and it worked all the time | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
We use a Internet proxy from websense that does http, https, ftp proxying. We use filezilla for 3 years now for all our ftp upload/downloads over ftp, ftps without any problems. But since we switched from Cisco CE proxy to Websense proxy we cannot upload with certainty. Smaller files pass the system usually without problem, larger files 300 - 500 MB most of the time fail. I verified that the site we were trying to upload works by connecting directly to the Internet and using filezilla to upload the files and it worked. We opened a ticket with websense and they told us we shall use CureFTP or TotalCommander to upload. I did the test and with CureFtp all files were all the time uploaded correctly. The settings we have to use for websense in Filezilla 3.3.1 are: Connection->FTP->FTP Proxy Custom USER %u@%h PASS %p proxy host: websense.test.com:2121 user: test password: test We have also tested to disable ftp cache on websense but the same thing happens. How do we know that the files are not uploaded correctly? The transfer starts and we know that the target site has a bandwith limiter that does allow 60KBs. The files are uploaded and when it's almost 100 percent uploaded we are presented with a dialog that says the file is already there and if we want to overwrite it. If you press overwrite the transfer will start again and at the end present you again with the same dialog. When we called support of the target side they said the files are only around 5 million bytes instead of 13 or 23 million bytes. The target site does not allow size commands nor read of the directory etc. |

#5252 | Click to rename files | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Hello, I am a Filezilla 3.3.2 user on Mac OS X 10.6.2. When I am sending my files to a remote server I click and drag them to the right side of the window and release the mouse button, so far so good. When I am sending just one file, that's when the mess happens: All files are unselected, OK? I click in one file and the line get's a blue background. When I click again (and hold) to drag the file to the other side of the screen, the line changes to rename. So far, no damage on my files. If I don't do anything, the cursor stays there, to rename the file, if I click outside, it gets renamed OK. If I click up there to order for filename, filesize or last modified, the file (for renaming, with a cursor for type waiting) stays in the same place on screen, it doesn't go to the place it was supposed to go, stays in front some random file that was ordered there, if you click outside to stop the renaming... I AM SURE THAT THE FILE THAT IS BEHIND, ON THAT POSITION GETS RENAMED TO THE NAME OF THE FILE I WAS RENAMING, AND THIS FILE (THAT I WAS RENAMING) GETS DELETED FOREVER! I lose a lot of files for this matter. You can do this to make sure (I just did). 1) Create 5 files: 1.txt, 2.txt, 3.txt, 4.txt, 5.txt, put them in the same directory, open them and just put a number on the file and save them. Then we get: 1.txt = 1. 2.txt = 2, etc... 2) Now open Filezilla and locate the folder. We get this: 1.txt 2.txt 3.txt 4.txt 5.txt Now click ONCE on 2.txt to select this file, then click again on 2.txt (the cursor to rename appears). 3) Now click on filename (up there) to reorder by filename DESC. The screen is now like: 5.txt 2.txt (to rename) "4.txt is behind this" 3.txt 2.txt 1.txt 4) Now click outside. The 4.txt file just vanishes and if you open 2.txt, what's inside? 4 Now imagine this with a big web system, a lot of files missing and a lot bad renamed. I think it's a pretty serious bug because I use a lot the "Last modified" column to order, to make sure to send the files that was last modified. Sorry my bad english, it's not my primary language. |

#5256 | Double clicking on a item brings up the filename edit box too frequently | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Most of the time when I double click on a file, instead of going into the folder, it will open up the file rename box, which is extremely annoying. This is easily reproducible when I already have one or more items selected. In order to avoid it, I have to make sure I double click the tiny microscopic icon off to the side. One time, I was fed up with the rename box and tried double clicking again once or twice on a folder, and some how it managed to copy the file name from one folder and rename a subfolder with that name... all through just clicking. That's really bad. |

#5271 | every file and dir are showing an timestamp before name of it | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Every file and directroy are showing with file timestamp before it. Both timestamp and filename are building a filename into filezilla, and when you are pressing enter to select a directory, the filezilla is sending "timestamp filename" together as show-command. Enstead of usual filename or directory name inside of show command into a ftp-server. (And therefor an application is useless untill a bug fixed.) The used client is windows (xp) and server is FTP server (Version 6.4/OpenBSD/Linux-ftpd-0.17) with Debian GNU/Linux installed as default language iso-8859-1. 2010-03-12 13:22:xxx filename or directory name Another ftp-applications are working as usual. Also filezilla worked well before new installed unix server and new filezilla versions. Also to open ftp-connect to another ftp-own servers are working well. Thanks, Tuomas |

It's just an idea, many thanks. Excellent Work-out programs both Filezilla Client and the Server, great job, I've been using the two and is the best of the best for ftp |

#5304 | Images transfer and then on the host are 0 bytes. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Using most recnt client at this writing (3.3.2.1) I have previously and successfully transferred files to my cox.net host space. Today, whether it was a jpg, png, bmp, gif, or pdf the transfer went without error and in a proportionate amount of time for the file size, but on the host all times but one they appeared as zero bytes and were not usable. One time they filled in with the appropriate host file size, but were found to fail to display, and on refresh were zero bytes after all. I didn't try non-image file types so they may have had the same problem. I tried this multiple times in multiple sessions and after restarts. I also changed from AUTO to Binary, and turned passive on/off with no change in outcome. |

#5314 | drag & drop transfers parent directory instead of selected files | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
drag & drop of multiple files and/or directories from the remote file listing to the local active directory sometimes transfers the complete remote parent directory instead of the selected files. this means that instead of showing the expected "overwrite?"-dialog for existing files in the active local directory, filezilla creates a new subdirectory with the name of the server's parent directory and transfers all of its contents. this is very annoying since it takes 2 or 3 attempts until only the selected files are transferred to the right place and i can use the advantage of comparing file size & date when filezilla asks whether to overwrite or not. additional this means i have to cancel huge queues of files in subdirectories that i did not want to be transferred and delete the already transferred ones from the wrong directory on my harddisk. apparently filezilla does not recognize the active remote directory after navigating through the remote directory structure. sometimes it helps explicitly selecting another directory first and then the desired one in the remote directory tree before selecting the files for drag&drop transfer. this issue seems to happen on about 50% of remote->local drag&drop transfers. it never happened when transferring from local to remote. i noticed this behavior throughout all filezilla-versions in the last year, but never found a bug report. anyone with the same problem? |

#5321 | Connection timeout uploading large files | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
With all 3.3.x series FileZilla, i get a connection timeout at the end of a large file upload. Files have to be >1MB. It is always at the end of the file. It happens with every large file. With ver 3.2.x, this is not a problem. I downgrade to 3.2.4.1 and it works ok, upgrade to 3.3.2.1 then i get timeouts again. This is why i believe it is a bug. I only upload to 2 servers. Happened before i reformatted and reloaded Windows as well. Log files are attached. |

Description |
After N files transferred through sftp using FileZilla, the queue slows down. It happens when I'm transferring one file at a time or 2 files at a time or N files at a time. It usually slows down when the third or fourth file in the queue has finished transferring. And when it's happening, all I need to do is restart the queue after a few minutes and the speed will go back to normal. I'm using Buffalo WHR-G125, just in case it has something to do with it. |

#5364 | large files upload fails | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
I have no problem with small file upload such as html or images on this server of mine, but when I try to upload a large video file I get a strange behavior. The log attached refers to the file Ali_my_Slum_my_Korogocho.flv which is 105 MB. The upload progress bar reaches 100% in few seconds (!!) then stops there. After some time (30 seconds or so) it gives a file transfer failed or connection time out error. It then retries to upload the file few times but it failes even before the progress bar is displayed. Finally it asks me if I want to overwrite the file alredy present on the server (which is truncated at a size around 1MB). CuteFTP initially does the same with the progress reaching 100% but then it restarts the transfer with the progress at 3/5 % and it starts uploading the file in chunks giving a bunch of "ERROR:> Temporary completion problem reply." but it eventually succeed completing the file. #5373 | Resuming a upload | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
When my internet crashes or something stops my upload, I used to be able to re-drag the file and it would give me a screen with several options. I used to just press resume and it would continue uploading from where it started. However it does not allow this anymore, once the internet has crashed I cannot do anything with the partly uploaded file, I cannot resume or delete it etc. The message states that the file is still in use. I used to then have to restart the computer for it to release the file so i could delete it or resume the upload, however now that is not even working and I have to rename the file on my desktop and start the upload from scratch. |

#5381 | Intermittent massive memory leak when transferring files | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Occasionally when transferring files, FileZilla client uses 100% of the physical memory available (I have 8GiB in the machine, and FileZilla goes up to approx. 92% of that) and the disk starts to thrash, significantly degrading performance. Nothing is logged during this. Once the file in the queue finishes, the memory is all released correctly and the operating system eventually recovers. FileZilla Client version 3.3.2.1, built 2010-03-21 but this problem has been happening for at least the last 6 months in various versions, if not longer. Seems to be more apparent on larger files (several gigabytes) but this could just be because they take longer to transfer, so the chance of it happening increases. It generally happens suddenly in the middle of an existing transfer. Unfortunately because it is so sporadic, it is hard to replicate. |

Description |
When going to certain sites (using SFTP), it gets there, BUT when I try to "Drill Down" into the site, it immediately crashes. This only occurs on a couple of the sites on my web server. It did not occur until I upgraded from Fedora 12 -> 13. I initially used the Fedora install of filezilla, and since the crash was occurring, uninstalled it and downloaded/compiled the most recent version from your site. Still happening. Weird thing is, I have WindowsXP installed on this machine in VirtualBox and filezilla works fine there. |

after downloading a file using filezilla (the file was 10gb)and checking the md5sum of the file, the md5sum of the resultant file differed from the md5sum of the original file. whats more the file differed at byte 2147483648, the point the filesize would overflow a signed 32 bit integer. i have re-downloaded the orignal file using ssh on linux (opposed to how it was originally downloaded using filezilla on 32 bit windows server 2003) and the md5sum matches, i transfered it to the windows machine using samba and the md5sum STILL matches, which takes windows out of the equation as the source of the corruption. also being that it occurred AT 2147483648, corruption from download seems unlikely. |

#5575 | Warn about "Routing and Remote Access" | Feature request | critical | FileZilla Server | outdated
Description |
"Routing and Remote Access" service (which is enabled and set to Autostart by default in some server versions of Windows) might mangle outgoing FTP packets, replacing the server's external IP-address (such as 96.68.37.69) in PASV responses with server's local IP-address (such as 192.168.0.1) if the server in question is running behind NAT. Such behaviour was observed on Windows SBS Server 2003 SP2. It can be verified by running Wireshark and comparing actual outgoing packets with Filezilla server log records. Filezilla server should at least warn the user, if this service is running, that it might affect passive mode, otherwise people will be clueless. I do not know whether this "feature" of RRA can be disabled or not, i have fixed it by disabling RRA itself. |

#5578 | Problem uploading large files with .tif extensions | Other | high | FileZilla Server | outdated
Description |
I backup client's data remotely to my server behind a NAT router. I service about 20 clients. The data contains .doc, .bak, and .tif file extensions. I upload from multiple clients at a time. The size of uploads range from 4 GB to 45 GB. Client's data that is 6 GB or smaller seem to transfer ok. Now the clients with data larger than 6 GB seems to always fail or never completely transfer over. So i end up with a way smaller file size after transfer. Whenever i try to open any of the image files that were transferred, i receive this error message stating "The Compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted". What can i do to prevent this problem from happenening? I also notice that the uploads take 24-48 hrs to fully complete. Is this normal? Or would that have to do with the speed of my ISP? On another note, when i check the status of the uploads, i notice that some of the clients that have already finished the file transfer, are still shown in the status pane. No progress shown but the ip address and user's name of the file that was transferred are visible. I would usually just have to "Kick User" to clear it from there. Is this a common problem, and will it have any effect on any existing downloads/uploads? |

#5591 | filezilla.xml missing/not found | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
I know that other tickets have been submitted on this issue before, but they are a bit different, and have not been resolved... When I try to open FileZilla, I receive an error window reading "Error loading xml file
For this session, default settings will be used and any changes to the settings are not persistent." Upon clicking "OK," it requests that I file a bug report. At this point, FZ opens, and my Quickconnect locations are still present, but the window opens to default settings, not the last setting entered. When I search for ".filezilla" or "filezilla.xml," they are not found. Can these files be created somehow? When I try to upload to a site outside my firewall, the transfer starts, then bogs down and eventually dies. Sending a similar file to a server inside the firewall send okay (so far). I am running FZ 3.0.6 with Mac OS 10.4.11. I tried to download a new version of FZ, but the latest version is for Mac OS 10.5+ only, and I can't find an archive on your site to download something in between 3.0 and 3.3. So, I'm still using the version I originally downloaded. Is this a local problem, a software problem, or a user error? |

I think that here you should implement a way to manually enter which IP addresses should be considered as local connections. I have internal hosts that have IP's like 172.11 and etc that FileZilla interprets as external!???

#5687 | Not creating initial remote directory with local directory upload | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
I am seeing a problem where the client is not creating the initial remote directory. Example: I want to upload c:\foo to the remote location of /home/user/foo I select foo directory on the local end and user directory on the remote end. I then select add to queue of the local foo directory and then attempt to process the queue. The queue will timeout trying to upload the files as it does not create the initial /home/user/foo directory when it performs the first CWD /home/user/foo. Attached is a log of an actual attempt at this. If I manually create the /home/user/foo directory prior to processing the queue then the upload will work fine and subdirectories will also be processed ok. I am also using the latest rc1 candidate |

#5696 | Could not write to transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer + transfer not logged as failed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Started FileZilla and was auto-upgraded to v3.3.5. Invoked about 300+ file transfer in passive mode from FZ on Win7 Ultimate 64bit. Several transfers failed, some smaller files <100K and larger files about 16MB with the subject error message. This left partially uploaded file in DESTINATION folder. HOWEVER, the filesize was incorrect due to incomplete file transfer.... AND.... the file transfer was NOT SHOWN as an ERROR in the FZ GUI... I would have expected this. I searched known bugs and understand ECONNRESET due to external network issues, however FZ should not show failed FTP as SUCCESSFUL. I tried recreating in DEBUG 3 mode... however I was unable to reproduce the problem. I suspect the DEBUG setting slows down the condition that creates the problem... or no network issues (which seems strange to resolve in same timeframe since it was occurring for over 5-10 minutes). I did receive "Connection closed by server" with unexpected reply from server... suspect network issues... but again, NO FAILED TRANSFERS shown... ??? |

#5697 | photo size changes to 4380 bytes when uploading to filezilla | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
No matter what the size of the jpg is, when I upload to my website via filezilla, and no matter what option I choose in the box that pops up, Filezilla reduces the size of the jpg to 4380 bytes consistently every time, no matter what the original size was, and then renders the photo un-useable in the website. To troubleshoot, I uploaded the 4380 size photo that's been altered by filezilla, back to my computer's folder, and the picture is corrupted in my computer also. I never had this problem before, been using filezilla for years to upload photos to my website. |

#5706 | filezilla ftp client 3.3.5 download file size wrong | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | outdated

Downloading files from filezilla ftp server over FTPES, when I drag a file from the server file list to the client file list, if its replacing an old file, the file size is for the old file, not the one replacing it. This doesn't seem to always happen. Both client and server are windows xp sp2. |

#5707 | Transfer of files with umlauts fails when using the transfer queue | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
During a backup transfer (server to client) of about 3181 files always the same jpg files wont be transferred, most likely because they include German umlauts and special characters like ü and ß. But downloading each of these files directly without using the queue succeeds. So something is not working when using the queue. Attached a screenshot showing some of the files. #5708 | Unable to install Version 3.3.5.1 | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Immediately following the successful downloading of 3.3.5.1, I accept the instruction to install and I get "error 5: access is denied" and can proceed no further. I can go to the downloaded .exe file and begin the install, but then I get "error opening file for writing..... /filezilla.exe .... Abort-Retry-Ignore" If I click "Ignore" the install proceeds and finally says the new version is installed.... "do I want to start Filezilla?" I click yes and nothing happens. I re-launch Filezilla and 3.3.4.1 is still operating (satisfactorily), telling me that a newer version is available. ABOUT: FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.4.1 Build information:

#6192 | Incorrect folder name shown | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
The inexistent folder "Feb 29 13:59 Giochi" is shown in the folder list of the remote FTP site instead of the existing one "Giochi". The error occurred for the first time in the last but one version of the filezilla client program. The only way for accessing it is to rename the inexistent folder into "Giochi". This folder contains 129 files and 47 folders. Other FTP programs (like Internet Explorer) shows and handles the folder normally. |

Description |
I tested this a few times and filezilla repeatedly uploads my files but with it's content duplicated... SmartFTP did not give me this problem (so far...) This may be because of the server I'm connecting to is not very good at all... and drops connections all the time, so filezilla takes about 5 or more tries to upload a file... but still the resulting content duplication is not good <_< |

#6198 | Locked out of directory | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Certain directories on remote server appear to be locked (see attached log). Opened a ticket at the remote server and they forwarded it to FTP Voyager (the FTP server that they use). FTP Voyager people insisted that I purchase their client. Their client has no problem accessing the "locked" directories. By the way, the same directories are "locked" when using the FTP Commander client. |

(that's strange, because the file does not exists!) If you say yes... it looks like filezilla downloaded both files, because they are both visible in the left panel and have the right filesize. But if you refresh the left panel, one of the files is suddenly not visible! (the file actually didn't exist in the first place!) |

#6515 | "open"/"edit" commands on local file does not launch the right application | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
When I double-click (or choose "open") on a ".doc" file in Windows explorer, it opens in MS Word. In Filezilla, if I choose "open" or "edit" on the same (local) file it opens Wordpad. Wordpad it the second application in my "open with..." menu. The same happens with other extentions: source code which opens with notepad, etc. FileZilla should use the default/first application associated with the "open" action. |

#6518 | modified uploaded files | Bug report | critical | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Hi! I've been using FileZilla for years now but lately I had to move to another FTP Client due to some issues I'm having. FileZilla version: 3.3.5.1. Processor: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz RAM: 2GB System:Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits. When I upload individual or a group (queue) of files to my Server (auto, ascii or bin) no error message is shown but is very common they fail when I test the result of the uploading. They shouldn't fail beacause those files belong to applications I've got them running in my local environment AND in another remote Server of my own. Investigating the reasons of these failures I found out that most of the uploaded files have different size in my Server than the size they've got in my local installation. Using another FTP Client (Core FTP LE) the same files were uploaded properly, no different in their sizes and no failure when testing my Server's installation. Attached you will find the print screen of both upload operations (FileZilla's and CoreFTP's). This shows up only one case; it happens with almost all applications I've got (more than 100). I've got another ticket opened 15 days ago (Ticket #6505) where I report another issue with FileZilla and I believe both issues may have some connection. Both issues (this one and the one reported in ticket 6505) started to show up after I installed Windows 7 in my PC. I love FileZilla and after so many years using it I'm more than used to its features but, unfortunately, now I had to move to another FTP Client because I need to continue working and those misbehaviours add delays to my work.... but I'd love to go back to FileZilla. I will appreciate any help. Best regards, Lautaro. |

#6521 | yahoo ftp - file sizes do not match | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Hello: I am trying to upload files to a "premium" yahoo ftp account with a low ping time. Quite often for reasonable file sizes (500k,1mb) the file uploaded ends up being only 90-95% of the actual source file size. This happens quite often. I see it upload more than the actual file size as well. The majority uploads immediately then the last bit takes much longer. When this happens, he file transfer does not indicate it failed ... usually. FileZilla client 3.3.5.1 |

I checked the file assciations in the Filezilla client and the box "Inherit system filetype associations is checked. I tried rolling Filezilla client back to a previous version and continue to get the message even though the previous version used to open file types without issue. |

#6531 | Invalid filename display with client | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
We have several AIX servers running as FTP servers and using WU-FTPD, the same version of AIX and WU-FTP for all. We have clients connecting to our servers with Filezilla but the display for the filenames is off. The columns for the filename included the filename plus the filesize and the modified time so when they go to download they get message that the file doesn't exist. In some cases there are invalid characters in the name. When using DOS command line there are no issues, everything shows correctly so I know it is an issue with the display of host type or character set or something. I have seen similar issues on the forum but have not found a solution. I have tried changing the host type and forcing the UTF-8 character display but nothing has worked. Is there a fix for this or a parser that can be run to display the columns properly? |
