#4974 | Links in welcome dialog don't work | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Clicking a link in the welcome dialog of FileZilla 3.3.0 doesn't work correctly under Linux. On my PC (Crux 2.6), Opera gets started, although the default browser is Firefox. On my laptop (same system), FileZilla tries to start wine, which of course doesn't work. An explicit browser setting in the preferences is missing. |

#4975 | Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle / not working | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
These two toggles (Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle) are located in the top bar under the Main Menu Bar. They both have a weird behavior. Both were OFF upon start. The weird behavior appears as soon as the tabbed interface is activated or a little later on while using it. This behavior is characterized by:
I am using the latest version of filezilla (updated 10 min ago.) I have restarted filezilla and the buttons work again until I create a new tab. Unless now only the "remote directory tree" is affected by the bug. The local directory switch works properly. Then I create a new tab once again and both toggles work properly again. Then again I leave one tab open (the tab-panel disappears) and create a new tab - the problems appear again. Truly a strange thing. #4978 | Wrong file/directory name by server side. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I connect to SCO UNIX ftp server. I use polish version of FileZilla Client. Files/directories with modification date in October ('październik' in polish) have wrong name in server side view panel. I can't use this files/directories (get, open, ...). I think diacritical character 'ź' is the reason for this bug. Name of directory is: 'mounth day time realname', for example: 'paź 21 9:21 adm' (modification date of this file/directory is 21st October) Example of this situation you can see on attached picture. Sorry for my English. |

#4979 | No password asked on Server->Reconnect (Ctrl + R) | Bug report | blocker | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I connect to a FTP via "Quick Connect" or using the "Site Manager" (in Spanish "Conexión rápida" and "Gestor de Sitios", respectively), then disconnect and close FileZilla and open FileZilla again, pressing Ctrl + R automatically reconnects to the last ftp server, without asking password. I have not told filezilla to save any password, nor did in the past. I tried to Quick Connect to a server I've never connected in the past, and then closing, opening and reconnecting still did the login without password. If I don't have told explicitly to do so, FileZilla should not remember any password. So, even at 'Reconnect', FileZilla should ask me for the password. |

#4980 | Econnaborted - Connection aborted | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | rejected
Description |
Hi I am running Filezilla server 0.9.33 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Filezilla Client 3.3.0 on Windows 7 and have some problems. I have no problems connecting to the server (from Filezilla og other clients), but when I try to access a shared folder I get the error message: "Disconnected from server:ECONNABORTED - Connection failed" (sometimes i can browse one folder, but the next one triggers the error message). I have tied both active and passive mode with the same result. I also turned off all the firewalls in Win Server 2008 and on the Win 7 client, but that didn't help. The server is connected to a router where all the ports for ftp and passv mode is opened, and I have tried connecting to the server from various locations and get the same errors. #4997 | Bug in FileZilla 3 - Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
In FileZilla 3 I get the following Errors: Error: Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing This only happens on one server I connect to and I can connect and do a directory listing successfully to other servers on the same domain. It doesn't happen in FileZilla version 2 and I can connect and do a file listing on this server with KFTPGrabber so it seems to be an issue with FileZilla 3. I have found that if I go to the view menu and click refresh that sometimes it will reconnect and the directory listing will work but sometimes it won't. It's a difficult bug to squash I'll bet. I have seen others having this same issue in the forum. So just to be clear, I can connect, the error occurs when FileZilla attempts to execute the directory listing on the remote FTP server. The remote FTP server is running Microsoft FTP Service (Version 5.0). |

Since, this is only a SEARCH operation and we are not transferring a file; the above metioned dialog box should not appear when we serach for file. |

#5011 | Unwanted rename when double clicking on folder or file | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
I got a nasty problem with 3.3, when i double click on a folder (or file), I will sometime enter the folder but at the same time, get into rename mode (like when I slowly select a file and click again to rename it). The tricky part is click e.g. on a directory named "files" and having in file a directory named "img" in the same position of the files dir on the screen (behind the cursor after entering the files dir). I enter the files dir, see it's content but also see a folder being renamed, the folder name being "files". Pressing escape to cancel the rename action will in facts rename the "img" dir into "files". The original files directory will not be renamed. This happens also when uploading a file by double clicking. After the first upload, the file is still selected. Single clicking on it will either :
Double clicking will often upload the file AND go into rename mode. I have to hit escape every time in upload the same file. Or I have to unselect it. Below is the version details for filezilla : FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.0.1 Build information:

#5020 | Windows: FileZilla update uninstalls previous version | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
When FileZilla updates on Windows automatically (latest update was to 3.3.0.1), it uninstalls the previous version first. This is annoying, because the startmenu sorting is broken afterwards when sorted alphabetically. It also forgets the folder "Local site:", which needs to be set again manually after an update. The NSIS installer should be changed to just overwrite what needs to be overwritten without uninstalling the previous version first. |

I have tried to reinstall the old version and now I have the same problem. I have to reinstall the program to get it to work one time. Any Ideas? Thanks Ray |

#5036 | Making Filezilla more intelligent than the user. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I got disapointed to discover that the "Host" field in Filezilla Site Manager DOES NOT accept the string "ftp." preceding the domain. MOST FAMOUS ftp clients as Cute FTP, allow you to use this syntax for HOST: "ftp.site.com" BUT filezilla seems to be unable to connect just because of this "ignorable" redundance in the HOST typed. I believe that with a few lines of code you could ignore "ftp." or even alert the user: "Please inform only the domain!" what makes no sense, because if the program noticed that the user input has "ftp." in the beginning, it should simply remove internally by code and SIMPLY CONNECT SUCCESSFULLY. I am starting to use Filezilla (as I am Open Source lover) but I found it so ridiculous that the program DOESN'T connect JUST because you wrote "ftp." before the domain, because MOST ftp programs accept this and it is NOT incorrect. I didn't test it on Linux, so I can not afirm that the behaviour is Windows-only or not. Please add this little intelligence in Filezilla, it is so bad that the program is unable to see that "ftp.site.com" is the ftp of "site.com" |

#5049 | .txt file not recognized as ASCII for transfer | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | invalid
Description |
I recently noticed that a .txt file from a Unix machine was download as binary to a windows machine, even though "txt" is in the ASCII file list. The file is named like filename.20091204.165157742.txt. I am guessing that the reason for this is because it sees the text after the first "." as the extension and not the text after the last "." as the extension. I would contend that only the text after the last "." should be looked at for the extension. This is consistent with how windows works (don't know about other OSes). |

As of a few versions ago, when I open Filezilla I get an error about not being able to load the filezilla.xml file, so none of my setting are saved. I can't find that file anywhere on my hard drive, so it's not surprising that Filezilla has trouble loading it; but what do I do about it? #5057 | Folder Shortcuts Appear as Both Folders and .lnk Files | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | fixed
Description |
I'm using FileZilla Server 0.9.33 downloaded on 12/7/2009 (although the server interface reports it as 0.9.33 BETA) on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and FileZilla client 3.3.0.1 on Windows Vista x64 Home Premium. I was trying to access UNC's defined to the server, but I couldn't get it to work as defined in the forum sticky, and there was no response on the forums. So I thought about it, and decided a shortcut in the Home directory might work. And it did. However, the shortcut appears in the client as both a folder and a .lnk file. The folder works as expected. The .lnk file can be downloaded. I also tested using Firefox 3.5.5 as the client, and both the folder and the .lnk file appear there, too. So I suspect this is a problem with the server. I suggest that shortcuts appear only as the objects they link to. In my case, I should only see the folder in the client. In the case of a linked file, only the destination file should be seen. Perhaps this should be an option in the server settings. But at a minimum, the .lnk itself should not be seen in the client, only the destination. |

#5064 | FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network. After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following: Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help. FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine. I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla. I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state. It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature. |

#5100 | Portuguese Translation - suggested correction | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
I had problems due to a bad translated item in the Portuguese language because the term used to translate the act of "entering a directory" (In portuguese up to now shows "Inserir diretório" - what is wrong in my oppinion) means "insert" and entering is one thing and inserting is another very different thing. The way it is now ("Inserir diretório") suggests that clicking the folder, a NEW SUB DIRECTORY will be created inside the folder instead of opening it. IMHO the best translation for the act of "entering/browsing a directory/folder" would be "Entrar no diretório" that means to "Go into the directory". This words "Inserir diretório" must be changed, this expression is only valid when you are CREATING a sub directory not when you are just browsing it. The correct translation for this item is "Entrar no diretório" |

Once we accept the certificate once, we never have the issue again (as long as we select to save our answer so it doesn't ask again) however, it would be nice if filezilla could authenticate wildcard certs similar to what IE and firefox do over regular https for wildcard certs. 2) There is no way to see the downloaded SSL certificates so that you can review the list / clear it if necessary to force an full SSL cert check again at the next connection. The client file name: FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip The link used to get the file: http://d10xg45o6p6dbl.cloudfront.net/projects/f/filezilla/FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip Originally, the file as shown by Windows XP, displayed a file size of 15,569 bytes. I uploaded the file to the Linux server and FileZilla read a file size of 15,501 bytes even though Windows reported a 15,569 byte file size. I discovered that one specific character within the file caused the problems. I believe it was a null (character 0) character that caused the problems. Anyways, I do not know if FileZilla 3.3.1 failed to report the size correctly or if the Linux OS failed to report the size correctly. FileZilla showed two different sizes for the files on the two different systems. I copied and pasted what I thought was text to a file but it had a character in it that SciTE accepted (but displayed as a space character Hex:20h, Decimal:32). I ran into this problem once before a long time ago, but I believe I used WS-FTP32 in that case. Anyways, the problem that exists with FileZilla, as I see it, is that FileZilla would be a little better if it analyzed the file before it uploaded it, and if FileZilla found a binary character in an ASCII (text) file, it probably should alert the user. One other thing, if it detects that the uploaded file is 15,501 bytes while the file to get uploaded (the source) is 15,569, I feel it should report that to the user with a possible explanation for the differences in size. Thank you for your time. -- James Carlock aka, Jim Carlock |

#5128 | Filezila client timeout. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
With filezilla set to passive mode, a new connection to the server is created. This session will remain logged in for the duration of the server timeout setting. However, if a file is transfered during this session, as soon as the file is uploaded, we see about 55 seconds before the connection times out. For whatever reason, the time out seems to change after a file is uploaded. |

#5129 | Filezilla forgets my default "File Exists Action" | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I have my default "File Exists Action" set to "Ask For Action". I connect to a server by FTP. The first time I upload a file it asks me what action to take and I choose "Overwrite" and I do not select the "Always use this action" box. I can repeat this upload many times and it behaves correctly allowing me to choose to overwrite. After I have worked on something else for a while while leaving Filezilla running, making code modifications, for example, I then upload the same file again and it has forgotten that I want to be asked about overwriting. The client continues to fail to prompt me until I restart the application, then it behaves properly again for an undefined period of time. The method I am using to trigger an upload is to drag a file from an Explorer window into the file list box of the Filezilla GUI. The times it has occurred, Filezilla has always been partially hidden behind other applications but I don't know how that affects it. I will try some additional testing and see if I can reliably reproduce the problem. |

#5134 | Toggle processing of queue not holding | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
I am running Win <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>XP</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>SP2</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>v3</font>.3.1 First of all when clicking the toggle processing of the transfer queue button on the toolbar doesn't stay depressed. Also if I double click on any local file it immediately transfers the file even though the button doesn't indicate that processing is enabled AND there is no check on the Transfer > Process Queue menu item. When there are files being transferred then both button and menu change to show that they are enabled from the disabled state. So what's the point? I would like to halt all processing and set up a transfer queue and once I'm done adding and removing files from the queue, I would like to toggle the processing and let <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> do its magic. I would also like to export/import a queue and I'm assuming that's what the menu items do but unfortunately I can't stop <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> from transferring in time to test that. Also if I manage to quickly hit the toggle button while it's transferring I can stop it, but as soon as I add something else to the queue it start back up on its own without any indication that I want it to. Thank you for all your hard work. <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> is an amazing utility. |
