I would like to have the ability to create aliases for directories. For example, the C:\FTPROOT\TEMP directory is displayed to the end user as "Upload" (as opposed to "TEMP") when they do a directory listing.

It would be a good idea when connecting per konsole to the server to list the content of the shares recursive, with command ls -lR. Many other FTP servers provide this.

How about storing the PASV ip address in a seperate file, that way people using dydns with programs like DirectUpdate can easily update the ftp server, and carry out the service restart. To do it at the moment requires reading the whole xml file in, changing the parameter than outputting it again... kinda long winded.

Alternatively provide a small program like pasvipupdate.exe which you could run with the new ip to update the ftp engin

I would like to request the following feature. To be able to allow only a certain amount of megabyte that can be stored in a certain directory.

Meaning if someone has webserver space on my pc that he can only upload till for example 50 megabyte to my pc.

It would be very useful to be able to select multiple files using shell paterns (or regular expresions), like say: when I conect with a debian mirror to download packages I would like to select all the files

I'm using filezilla to maintain code on a distant machine. I always have to propagate modifications on every version of the program, thats why i have to work on files which have same name, but are in different directories (/v0.1/, /v0.2/). This cant be done since the View/Edit feature first copies the file locally and then opens it. Editing files with same name leads to "file already exists" message. It would be great if the download process could rebuild the directory tree locally before editing the file...

Our webserver has been running Filezilla Server for some time now without any problems. Just recently, however, one of our clients has requested that we provide anonymous FTP access for their site. I would VERY much like to use Filezilla for this except that I would be unable to differentiate this client's traffic from our own.

Is there any chance of adding an extra field for each log entry, which is the amount of data transferred?.. Or even for each file that is transferred would still be extremely helpful.

My father uses an ancient FTP server as part of his job. His FTP server supports accessing directories using slash for a delimiter, but the files he wants to access are not accessible via this method. His directory change request must follow the pattern "CWD 'QW.U.SNOW.ALL'" for example, and the server responds normally. Unfortunately, FileZilla wraps this in slashes when he tries to change directories in the "Remote Site" pulldown.

If possible, add a server-by-server option to specify directory delimiters, or to set the directory raw rather than parsed.

In the FileZilla Server Interface, it would be usefull if the "Connect to server" dialog shows the list of all connected servers instead of only showing the last one.

The port number should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP).

The password should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP too). Maybe for security reason, it should be not remembered but then the behavior of the dialog box is changed from the original one, so the question of non-remembering of the password can be requested later if necessary.

The HTML Help files do outline all of the features of Filezilla but can still be improved. For instance, the version history only goes up to Version 2.1.6 (2002-04-18). This could be updated from the readme file. Although not necessary, it would be good if the screenshots were updated to reflect the latest version.

To save time, perhaps people could attach screenshots to this request? Proxy settings screenshot attached (v2.2.5; the one in the help file is out of date).

There should be an option (global perhaps, or per-user and per-group) where you can have the server execute a program of choice when a file that matches a filter is uploaded.

For example: The administrator should be able to tell the server that when *.exe;*.com;*.scr;*.zip files are uploaded, the server should run, say, c:/apps/av/av.exe "%1" (%1 being the path to the file that was just uploaded) and the server waits for a response code from the program and if it is not 0x00 then it shoud either send the file to a quire or simply delete it.

Aliases maybe flexible, but it's hard to use when you need use 200 folders on other drive. Shortcuts were very informative, and very very easy to use, and it were one from benefit of FileZilla, not provided by any other FTP server for Windows.

As it seems to me, FileZilla server badly needs in

priority NT system, so we could change priority from "Low/idle" to "High". Sometimes I'd want to put server to the lowest priority, so it cannot mess my more important work, sometimes I'd want to put it to "Above normal" or "High" priority to maintain robust service.

I'd just like the ability to put the queue and log next to each other. Especially for widescreens it makes sense.

connection between Server Interface and the FTP Server. Otherwise there is no sense to run FTPS service and everybody can see you settings and passwords because of insecure connection.

I am requesting a capability for the FileZilla Client that was actually working (maybe not by design) in Version 2.2.8b. I use FileZilla Client to maintain a z/OS system that has MVS files and Unix files. In previous versions the client would auto-detect the type of server based upon the default directory that I set up the the site in the Site Manager. In later releases, this capability is no longer available and I can NOT use the FileZilla client to maintain my Unix files. This is the majority of my work! I am requesting this type of functionality (again), OR the ability to specify the type of server in the Site Properties.

This is a GREAT product, but I am forced to use earlier versions of the client(or a different product) to perform my maintenance tasks.

Also, if the capability to specify servers is provided, I'd like to propose adding z/VM to the list. I still maintain files in VM/CMS as well. Other products offer this functionality (I've had to use WS_FTP Pro, or FTP from VM/CMS to the FileZilla Server on my desktop.

Thanks for a great product. I hope you can come up with a new/improved version that I can use.

FileZilla Client - MVS and USS

The option to right click on a connected user, and ban the IP it uses. In the same manner you can now kick users, but they don't stay away.

Add an extra window in a logical position, where you can see a list of all the banned IP addresses.

A feature that would lock out a user after a specified number of failed log-ins. All of the people trying to break in that I've seen give up if I lock the server for even 1 minute. Perhaps it could lock out the offending IP for a specified amount of time unless manually reset?

When using mapped drives in Windows Server as home directories, unable to access via FTP client.

server\share domain resident mapped drives used as ftp directories fail to be accessable in both writing and reading functions. First errors were permission violations. Tested this configuration with multiple mapped drives with up to domain administrator credentials. Once the permissions violations were resolved, FileZilla began giving internal error messages.

Drives hard-mounted to the same machine as the FileZilla server lives work perfectly.

Add logging about IP filtered for each connection dropped

Double-clicking a file always transfers the file, where, if I'm not mistaken, in FZ 2.x the behavior was configurable to either:

1) Do nothing 2) Transfer the file 3) Open/view the file 4) Add file to queue

This would help those users that are so used to double-clicking a file to open/edit (like myself) and prevent accidental up/downloads.

I would hope that this feature would be re-implemented so that we can configure local and remote behavior separately. For instance, double-click on local does nothing, where double-click on remote opens/views the file.

Paths without leading '/' character won't work.

I'm trying to retrieve a directory listing from a ftp server. I suspect that the listing fails because the path on the server doesn't have the leading '/' character in it. So for example if you would connect to a normal Linux server the path could be "/example-path/", but on this server the correct path is "example-path/". The PWD command returns the correct path (without leading '/') from the server so the problem is not with the return value from server. The problem is that Filezilla doesn't understand the returned path.

Every command line client on Windows and Linux I have tested work with this server. So the problem is not with the server, even it does use quite unusual directory structure.

The problem is with both FTP and SFTP.

I edited the log by replacing information with [SENSORED] tags, even the path it returns. Apologies about this, but I'm working in a company where I don't have permission to reveal any information about the systems we use, not even the paths on the server. But I hope the explanation above will give you enough information about the problem.

On my system, FileZilla Client 3.0.1 takes approximately 25 seconds to start. This time period is fairly constant whether or not the file is cached.

FileZilla 2.x had relatively short startup times.

After upgrading from version 3.0.8 to 3.1.1.1, I'm afraid that I cannot connect to the ftp server of my file hosting provider using Filezilla.

Trying to upload a 20MB mp3 file to this server with Filezilla always seems to hang after the first 200kB. I have been using FTP Commander for several years, uploading a file like this to the same site every week without problems. I have tried to use various versions of Filezilla (3.0.7.1, 3.0.9.3 and now 3.1.1.1) because I would prefer to use Filezilla if it would work. But it never does. It always hangs up when trying to upload these large files. I can upload small text/html files, but it always hangs on the large mp3 files. I am trying to view a FTP server which has a folder with a period in the begining, it does not show up. Though when I type in the path manually it will browse to that folder See images.

I get this error message when I open the program (see attachment). I'm running 3.1.1.1.

hi, i can't access an ftp in aruba.it using my macbook. i get the following message Response: 530 more info : hosting.aruba.it/password Error: Could not connect to server i have accessed other ftps using filezilla with my macbook and had no problem. i have been able to access the same aruba ftp using my pc and it has worked without a problem. i have obviously used the same access information for both the pc and mac. i have also rebooted the mac, closed and reopened filezilla. any ideas please?

I was tring to download files from filezila to my computer by highlighting multiple files, then draging them and droping them to a folder in my network. It did not work, a gave me the failed transters message, after a few trys with the same result, I refreshed fillzilla. When I did this the whole folder I was in deleated all information.

Queued files are NOT being converted to successful transfers after the file has been successfully transfered. The transfer seems to complete, but the file remains in the "Queued Files" folder and is never moved to the "Successful Transfers" folder. The files I am transferring are Zip files and are being successfully transferred. I am having no problems with the transferred files being corrupted.

I did not select an accessable folder on the host and tried to upload a file. FileZilla client was looping. Once a critcal error condition is recieved from the host it should have stoped and reported the error. I stoped the loop by selecting an accessable folder.

Would it be possible to add "Manual Transfer" support into Filezilla 3. At present I'm still using Filezilla 2 solely to have access to this feature, found under "Transfer|Manual Transfer.." . The reason is I regularly have to download files from a partners system, however they have disabled Listings, you have to manually type in the directories and files you want to download. These tend to be large and hence the queueing and resume capabilities of Filezilla still help.

Version 3.1.1.1 O/S Windows XP Home (Service Pack 2) When uploading images to my website gallery (typically 400 to 500 images - all v. small JPEG's) not all upload. A black box with a little red square in a small white box appears instead. Have tried dragging & dropping individual files concerned but this doesn't work. Have deleted entire gallery & re-tried many times but problem remains.

1.ftp server change port to 3000,but not use default port(21). 2.FileZilla connect to ftp server with port 3000.It has no problem 3.but (after FileZilla connected server),when FileZilla connect to server has problem,FileZilla will connect to server with port 21 but no 3000 again and again.So FileZilla can't connect server.

I use FileZilla to transfer files between computers on my network. I used to have a problem with it only transferring files at 10mbps, then one version the bug was fixed, and now the bug is back again. I don't know how many versions back it was reintroduced.

It happens both with ftp and sftp transfers now. I think before it only happened with sftp tranfers. I know it isn't my network because I can transfer files using scp at the full 100mbps.

During FTP downloads mouse moves erratically (very jerky overshoots or jumps wildly) If by luck the you can click "Toggle processing of the transfer queue" the mouse immeadiately responds normally as it does as soon as the download complete.

I've seen similar problems if interrupts are disabled for too long and mouse movement events are missed.

This bug occurs on both 3.1.1.1 and 3.1.2 prior to upgrading I used 2.2.32 and never experienced this problem

this applies to versions 3.1.1 and 3.1.2. when using site snoopy.wiwi.uni-bonn.de, whenever i save the site in site manager and then try re-connecting, the (host), port, user, comments, default local directory, default remote directory, adjust server time offset and encoding are set to 'snoopy.wiwi.uni-bonn.de'. reinstalling, deleting all (or just this) setting(s) doesn't change this.

I rebuilt my mac a few days ago and hence had to reinstall filezilla.

This morning (sept. 16) I got an update notice from Apple that system updates are available and I installed them. I am currently running version 10.5.5 of os x on an iMac with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

I later went to the filezilla web site and downloaded the intel mac version of the software:

FileZilla_3.1.2_i686-apple-darwin9.app.tar.bz2 (Intel)

I uncompressed the downloaded file and dragged the program into the applications folder.

upon launching the filezilla logo briefly appeared in the task bar and then as the dialog box so eloquently puts it " The application Filezilla quit unexpectedly".

When pressing the DC button, the file list disorders and some files are just displayed as a white space, no description, filesize or anything, just a clickable blank line. Guess this is not so important, but it's a bug and it must be reported to the authorities XD

VERSION INFO: Filezilla client 3.1.2 and some recent earlier versions.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When clicking on the Desktop folder shortcut appearing in the Local site's tree view (remote site is Linux, so I could not test if behavior is the same on Remote site's tree view), the hard disk of my computer starts spinning like crazy for about 10 to 15 seconds before control is given back to the UI.

This behavior might be related to a fix / enhancement implemented to solve tickets 1088 and 1089.

Latest version of downloaded today, ie 3.1.3.

When I tried to log into my server, for the first time it required a Port number. When I put in Port 21 (which is the correct port), I get the error message:

Could not parse server address: Invalid port given. The port has to be a value from 1 to 65535.

I've just spent around 4 hours working on updating my web site, the fact that I now cannot upload it to the server does not best please me.

ver 3.1.3 for power pc is having startup issues.

It stops responding for a while then finall starts up. There are no error messages.

I am trying to upload some files (100 Mb or more). I was using last version of Filezilla FTP client (3.1.3). The file is uploading till it is locked (1.6 or 1.7 MB). From this point, my internet connection is locked and I can't navigate web or ftp, till I restart my system. I am using now Filezilla 3.0.9.3 and all is OK. Thanks

PSFTP works fine, and Filezilla works *sometimes* but not often. Have firewall between client/server, cannot turn off... but since it works sometime, assume firewall not the issue. When I turn on debug mode, get following trace:

I've noticed suddenly that when i upload or download multiple files at the same time, Filezilla appears to be transposing and mismatching files.

Here's a site where this occurs - i've noticed that it's swapping the content of one file for another file, but at the same time the file name stays the same...just the content within the file/s is different. ​http://www.newton-truong.com/test/index.html

I've tested it on other servers and the same thing happens. It does appear to mismatch the same files on the same server each time. However, on a different server, it mismatches different files.

Im kinda just about to give up with filezilla :( doesnt happen all of the time but 60% of the time when i upload a php file that ive just edited using the left click edit or left click open save then upload pops it over to the server but all the code ends up on one line completely screwing up the php because all the code after the comments is classed as comments, tried many work arounds and it doesnt work.

To make things even nicer, sometimes when i open files from the server they have an extra line or 2 between every line of code, whats happening? this has happened on the latest 3 versions ive downloaded.

Process queue freezes when some file is downloading. To resume it for some time the mouse moving is needed. It seems wxGTK's message queue freezes.

When connecting to an FTP server running on z/OS, I cannot change directory using Filezilla. Running Cygwin's FTP-client, it works fine.

While copying Filezilla shows an copy error, saying that a file already exists, however, this file is inside file bulk i'm transmmiting. Also it sais it could override the previous file with another with the same name; but size are different and the original file size is right.

Since yesterday, FileZilla (3.1.3.1) keep crashing when I'm uploading file. I'm trying to upload file (Joomla core) to my FTP server. When a specific file, it crash, and exit. It does like that to another file (CMSMS core, etc).

It's great that so many useful improvements are being made, but the rich features set seems to be dramatically increasing the program loading time. It would be some help if you could allow the screen to just pop up and become able to accept it's first instruction immediately, so at least you don't need to wait twice.

It would also be a big help in searching the open tickets to have the search filters (quoting for phrases, and, or, * and ?, etc.)on a popup by the search box.

It's nice to have the cc text box, but it would also be nice to have the login user's email as the default.

I use the 3.1.3.1 client to connect to a Filezilla 0.9.27 beta server as anonymous. The directory is always empty. It is the same case using non-anonymous account. Attached is the message log for the anonymous case.

Other FTP clients do not exhibit the same issue.

On my System with Vista HomePremium SP3 not every password is approved when updating to the newest Version, some passwords are rejected now which workt former with the 3.0.6 Client-Version.

When you scroll with the mouse in the "Queued Files" transfer window, the graphic bar (green percentage thing) doesn't scroll properly, and it sort of screws things up.

FZ fails to list the remote directory. FZ version is v3.1.4.1, server: ServU v6.1 on WinXP SP3. See attached log, plus a log of another ftp client that works. (The error is probably cased by the ASCII listing mode - I'm no programmer, I just compared the logs)

I have created an empty directory on web server - /xxx/yyy. I upload a file - trans.gif, 44 bytes.

Transfer queue shows a green 100% progress bar which then sits there for ages. It seems to be correctly transferred eventually. The log window shows what seem to be two attempts with the second one failing because the file is already there:

FileZilla 3.1.5

This no longer works? How is that a feature?

I used latest version of Filezilla client, but i have found one problem in my one website where login connection is established but stop in file directory listing and shows error like "Failed to retrieve directory listing". I tried to passive mode, and also tried to set 21 port. but could not success. But when i tried to connect with another software ws_ftp_pro, i could connect. Why i can not connect with filezilla ?

uploads simply stall after 2 or 3 successful file transfers. this has never happened before this recent update.

When the filesize is 0 there is an unhandeled exception that sping up

I'm on a Windows XP SP 2 Intel Pentium 4 2 ghz. I'm using FileZilla version 3.1.2 and attempting to upgrade to 3.1.5. The same problem occurred while attempting to upgrade to 3.1.2.

When I attempted to upgrade to 3.1.2 and now 3.1.5 the client is freezing and the installation does not complete. At the point during the install when it asks where I want to save the installation file, I choose my desktop. When I do this, it places the beginnings of the file on the desktop but the installation fails. As I attempt to delete that incomplete installation file, windows tells me that the file is in use:

Error Deleting File or Folder

Cannot delete FileZilla_3.1.5_win32-setup: It is being used by another person or program.

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

I've rebooted several times and still receive this message.

I was able to successfully install 3.1.2 if I used the 'My Documents' folder instead of the 'Desktop'. However, the incomplete installation files for 3.1.2 remains on my desktop.

It's been a few times that I uploaded a bunch of files, and while it's uploading, I change remote directory as I have something else to see... Well, some random local files get uploaded to the current directory I'm browsing!! How neat is that? It's only one every so often.

When building the queue, thank you to save the remote directory AT TIME of building the queue, and stick to it please.

This bug has been on for years now. Really counter productive.

I dont know why because this problem happen at random (but most of the time with a directory with so many files into) The permission of the folders are all the same read\modify for my user.

I upgraded - through the FileZilla auto upgrade - from the previous version to 3.1.5. After the upgrade when I right click on a text file on the ftp site and go to view/edit the file starts to open in TextPad v4.7.3 and I get the following error: "DDE execute request failed: a request for a synchronous execute transation has timed out."

After Xing out of the error notice the file does open in TextPad.

This did not happen in the previous version.

I did a upgrade from 0.9.25 to 0.9.27, and it doesn't upgrade 'FileZilla Server Interface.exe' Though if you delete the file before the upgrade it will work then.

OS is XP SP3, clean install.

This is occuring only with users who upgrade to 3.1.5 client.

Before upgrading they were using 3.1.3.1 without any problems.

Users are using "Servertype FTPS - FTP over implicit TSL/SSL" connections.

I receive new version notifications without problem.

The download fails when Filezilla tries to connect to sourceforge servers. The CPU usage increase up to 99% and filezilla freeze. I need to close it with CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill the process.

I tried several times during the day. Always the same freeze.

I am using FileZilla 3.1.5 on a Windows XP platform (Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3) CPU: Intel T2050 @1.60 GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM Issue: when I upload HTML files to the site stats@…, some files upload to zero bytes on the WHAC server.

It starts with a size of 35,891 bytes when I send it, but when it is written on the site in /2008-09/msoccer, it shows as a length of zero bytes.

The trace appears normal. but the overwrite prompt I had gotten indicated the target had a size of zero bytes (which requires me to resend the file two or three times to make sure it uploads properly. As I see it, when sftp is chosen, the "Remote site"-field should always be left empty by the program. The path written there should be considered relative paths to the current, and when enter is pressed, it should be added to the current path, with an "/" as a separator.

FileZilla should not use "[]" when in sftp mode. Maybe that is the main problem?

When FTP is used the dot "." is the correct separator between levels in the folder hierarchy, but apparently not when Sftp is used.

I found out that the error does not appear when using plain FTP. It is when using SFTP it malfunctions.

So I compared how Puttys psftp acted. Here is a complete conversation:

Part 2: ==================================================================== When SFTP is used, FileZilla needs to recognize that files like *.DIR;* is lower levels of directories/folders, so that they should be listed as folders in the Remote site folder tree.

For Uploading/Downloading of files i have selected the option as "ASK FOR ACTION" yet the client some times misses asking the same & overwrites the file.

but while overwriting in the summary it shows the command as "STOR with the file name" but the option doesnt pop up & it overwrites automatically

If I have FileZilla open and then enable a secondary monitor, every pop window that FileZilla thereafter tries to create will be tiny (just a pixel or so) and in the upper left hand corner of the primary monitor (as if no dimension or location parameters were ever passed). Also these windows are not resizeable so I have to close FileZilla and reopen it and then everything works as normal. These pop windows include but not limited to the Options window and the Overwrite? prompt window but essentially every box that is attempted will not display correctly. Thank you for you time and effort in this amazing program.

I have my task bar attached to the top of my screen. When FileZilla opened the first time, the top of the FileZilla window was obstructed by the task bar (see the screenshot). In order to move the window, I have to unlock the task bar and then shrink it to uncover the menu bar of FileZilla.

I have an error 550 permission denied when I want to download a file.

On server side full control on windows directories and full control on filezilla share folder.

Uploading files works fine.
