Can you make Serevr Interface remember its window size so that when it is started again it keeps its previous size?

I think it is a good idea to open a secure

connection between Server Interface and the FTP Server. Otherwise there is no sense to run FTPS service and everybody can see you settings and passwords because of insecure connection.

I have autoban enabled for 5 failed login attempts. I also "Force SSL for user login". The autoban never fires because, I assume, users attempting login get the return error stating that SSL is required and the attempt is not counted into the autoban limit. This situation results in daily logs of up to 3MB in size due to repeated brute force attempts at login. It appears as if there is a program that kiddie hax0rs all over the world have available. I add address masks to the IP Filter as attempts are made, but new kiddies keep trying. I've filtered out most of China by now. Please see the attached log exerpt.

I keep getting disconnected from my server right after I upload something. Even after a few seconds. I've talked to my hosting company and they have raised the inactivity time limit to 15 minutes and I still get disconnected from the server after just a few seconds. So everytime I upload something I have to reconnect to upload something else. The host company told me this is a FileZilla issue and I have to ask you for help and not them. I've included a sample of the error log from the last time I got disconnetced below. Please let me know if there is somethign I can do to stay connected to the server after I upload something. can't connect to Filezilla server

Critical error connecting to server. Can no longer upload files to website.

Last use of Filezilla mid July. Now using it again I was offered an update. I confirmed, update was done, but then all my 5 server addresses stored in the old version had gone. Is there a possibility to get them back? Actual version is 3.9.0.5, Win 7 ultimate.

Server could be in 2 executables : interface and service.

In the FileZilla Server Interface, it would be usefull if the "Connect to server" dialog shows the list of all connected servers instead of only showing the last one.

The port number should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP).

The password should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP too). Maybe for security reason, it should be not remembered but then the behavior of the dialog box is changed from the original one, so the question of non-remembering of the password can be requested later if necessary.

Server 8.8: The Server Returns "250 Directory created successfully" this is the wrong number. The correct number is "257".

Hi everybody. I´m using FileZilla Server 0.9.37 in about 800 machines and when i tried to connect to some server's i noticed that server is not online. After Windows reboot filezilla service start´s without errors but the server went offline because the other machine that´s linked to still not complete its boot (Linux). Other network services like telnet, ssh, and others ftp servers listen to his respective port regardless of connection status but filezilla don´t work that way. There is a solution for this fact?

I had 2 crashes of the server today. Maybe this info will help find a problem. Don't see a trigger.

Having setup a user with only permission to read files and list directories/subdirs, this user can still DELETE directories on the server as long as they are empty.

If I have an elaborate structure of directories on my server that for some reason are temporarily empty, any user can DELETE this whole directory structure without having permission to do so as a result of this bug.

I found that filezilla server had problems with folder names of Chinese characters. But rather, it's not just a DBCS (double-byte character system) compatability problem. I could enter those folders in question and get the file list normally, but when I started to download files in those folders, filezilla server reported "550 file not found" for each file. I tried to use the same Chinese characters as file names and those files could be downloaded normally. This problem occurs only with folders (with Chinese name), not files (with Chinese name), and only while downloading files in thoese folders. Looks like filezilla server has some problem handling folder names on action of file transfer.

Although not all Chinese characters cause this problem, it occurs very often. In my experience, 2 folders out of 4 exhibited this problem. It is probabily a bug ranther than a Chinese character compatability problem.

I tried two different clients, filezilla and windows xp built-in ftp, and confirmed that this problem was at server side. (The server was executed on windows me)

For me its rather important to be able to save the server screen text to a text file. Actually there should also be an option where it is automatically appended to a log file at the same time it is being written to the screen.

Currently, there seems to be no way to even copy the screen to the clipboard other than "print screen" which is too limited.

BTW... I'm very impressed with both the server and client.

When you uninstall file zilla server and get rid of all settings (haven't tested with keeping settings) it doesn't prompt for a new password when you reinstall but it lets you login to server admin console with any or no password at all

When compiling the server the following warning occurs:

Isn't it true that the SOCKET_ERROR won't exist unless the first part fails? If this is true, then shouldn't this be: VERIFY(closesocket(m_SocketData.hSocket) && SOCKET_ERROR);

Although it's possible to set a number for concurrent file transmissions, it's impossible to set a number for download and upload queues seperately. I'm on an assymetrical DSL line (>1.5Mbps upstream, 96k upstream), which means I can't upload very quickly but can download pretty much as fast as the FTP server allows me; I would like to be able to download more than one file concurrently, but only upload one file at a time.

Can we have the site list in a separted file that its path can be specified in the settings? because I use Ghost to make image of my system partition and would like to keep the site list after system recovery.

is that possible to specify for each ftp server (site) own proxy server? Because now I can specify only one proxy server for all sites. It's very uncomfortably to change each time proxy servers via Settings -> Generic proxy. For example, winscp can assign for each session own proxy.

Problem: My use of the FileZilla client frequently consists of downloading several large files and uploading a few small files in return. Most generally the file to be uploaded is time sensitive and must occur as soon as possible.

With the current queue process as it is now and the number of simultaneous file transfers is set to a limited amount; in order to upload an unspecified amount of fiels while downloading the maximum transferable limit of files or more, I must do the following:

1. Set the priority the the upload files higher than the download files. (Not always possible)
2. Increase the transfer queue by the amount of files that I need to upload. (This can be an inconvenience because I have to go count all of the files to be uploaded)
3. Once all upload file transfers have started the transfer process, I must go and revert the concurrent transfer limit to the previous value before any of the upload transfers are finished so as to not start another download transfer. (At times the uploaded files can be very small in size and that can make this step nearly impossible.)

Proposed solution: Have an option in the settings dialog that will support the ability to have separate upload and download queues and speed/count transfer limits for both.

Justification: Majority of, if not all, internet connections allow for data to be both uploaded and downloaded concurrently. I have not heard of an FTP protocol nor an ftp server side implementation that cannot handle simultaneous upload and download of data. (I'm nearly positive that the FTP protocol must talk both ways in order to function properly). Therefore upload and download transfers should be treated as separate entities as they can be operated simultaneously.

Restrictions to proposed solution: There may be a limit of concurrent connections that can be established per single user credentials to a specific FTP server. If this is the case, then it will be the user's responsibility set the transfer limits accordingly.

I have a local (inside LAN) FTP server run by Bitvise SSH client. Trying to open it, FZ seems to always request MLSD even though the server doesn't support it. What's weird, FZ doesn't request neither SYST nor FEAT command so it couldn't even know what the server can.

When I use FileZilla to transmit large .txt files, it sometimes sends them over and over again until I catch it. Obviously this causes problems in my workflow and that might be the case for other people too.

Sended files over a FTP SSL connection with a SOCKS proxy are corrupted.

The connection and the SSL/TLS negotiation are ok. The upload to the server seems to be ok in the logs but actually the sended files are corrupted. Tested with several SOCKS proxies. No such issue without proxy or with an external SOCKS client (tested with Hummingbird). Seems also to be ok when only downloading (retrieving) files from the FTPS server.

I think that a usefull feature will be the possibility for the user to send the program in a sistem tray (such as the windows of download of GhetRight). For long download (such as iso and so on), this command will be really usefull because have the window of FileZilla only reduced for many hour is not so functional (sorry for english, but I'm a italian boy..)

File-Zilla Client: Command-Connection to a server should be keep-Alive by the NOP Operation. Calculate the Idle Time of the Command-Connection and initiate a NOP Command every 120 sec for example. Every NOP or any other communication of the Direction "Client->Server" should reset the Idle-Time-Counter.

We are looking for the ability to save a file's original created date/time during uploads. Our FTP server supports this ability, but FileZilla does not send the MFCT command during uploads, just the modified date/time. It would be great to see this ability added to the client so that the tool can continue to be the most relevant and recommended FTP client available. Thanks for the consideration.

When left mouse-click and dragging a marquee around multiple files the marquee "jumps" to the right cutting off the view of the file names on the left.

Since a couple of versions of filezilla it is not possible to select files and directories simply by pulling an area around them.

The mouse pointer shows very erratic behavior when doing so (It jumps immediately to another monitor).

The behavior of the mouse by doing exactly the same on the local site is normal like expected.

I was informed that our ftp server has now added support for TLS. i tried to connect via TLS and recieved an error message. the server admin told me he never saw that port-command before, so it could be bug of some kind.

I'm using beta2. I was downloading a large number of files from a server. when trying to remove a few of the larger ones, I made the selection in the cue (while it was processing) but before I could hit delete, the cue moved - but the selection didn't. As in, if I select file 10-15 in the cue, the files in that position change as files get downloaded (and removed from the cue)but the position of the selection always remains 10-15, instead of moving to 9-14.

I hope this makes sense and I hope it hasn't been reported.

Latest version of Filezilla (3.2) when trying to select multiple directrories in remote site window only last click item is highlighted. In previous version, I could click first and shift-click last and all in between would be highlighted for download.

It would be great if FileZilla would select all files that changed (locally or remotely) since last up-/ download. Could be done by comparing the timestamp.

Guys, a "select all" option when uploading files (maybe on right click menu?) would be really usefull. I have directories with hundreds of files in them, it is the files inside not the directory as a whole I want to upload. A select all feature for a open directory would save me having to hold control and click every file individually - which is a real pain. Or who about like WS-FTP where you can hold control and scroll down a list of files automatically highlighting them as you go? Other wise nice FTP client -thanks!

You have to right-click each file individually then select View / Edit. I want to be able to have multiple files selected and then right click and select View / Edit to View / Edit multiple files.

While using the firezilla client I am frequently switching ftp servers and I keep using CTRL+A in the host/username/password/port fields for select all but it doesn't work. Right clicking and clicking select all works but is too time consuming and the shortcut would be much nicer. Thanks

FEATURE MOTIVATIONS

1. SECURITY: FTP Site data as managed by the Site Manager exposes to anyone having computer physical access the following information: host, username, login scripts, and other information. This is a problem because this information might be confidential. As a contractor, I work in many customer sites. While I'm working at CompanyA, I use a set of FTP sites that CompanyA has provided to me. While I'm working at CompanyB, I use a set of FTP sites that CompanyB has provided to me. FileZilla does not help me protect CompanyA's information from falling into the hands of CompanyB personnel who might have physical access to my computer. Even the list of company names that I work with is confidential information.

2. SCREEN CAPTURE: When I'm preparing tutorials for specific companies to use FileZilla by doing screen capture as I enter specific information in the Site Manager, I must remove all of my sites before beginning to ensure that the screen capture process looks "clean". While FileZilla's online documentation is great, I want to provide my clients with step-by-step instructions on how to build their site list showing the actual information that they'd be entering.

3. EXPORTING: Currently, doing Right Click > Export... exports everything. I would want to export content that is relevant only to CompanyA, CompanyB, etc.

FEATURE REQUEST: Add Password-Protecting Profile Manager

In the Site Manager, the top item is "My Sites". Currently, the only operation on this item is Right Click > Export. This feature request adds an additional context item and behaviors as detailed below.

1. Add the following context menu: Right Click > Profile Manager.... When clicked the Profile Manager dialog opens up. The dialog contains the following:

• Profile Manager Password [password field]
• Password Reset E-Mail Address [text field]
• Profiles [combo box with all existing profile names and "My Sites"]
• Require Confirmation to Edit Sites [checkbox]

Right:

• Profile Name [text field]
• Profile Password [text field]

Bottom:

• New Profile [button]
• Delete Profile [button]
• Export All [button]
• OK [button]
• Cancel [button]

2. If no profile is selected, then the behavior is exactly as it is today. That is, sites that are added, but not attached to any profile are considered to be part of the common "My Sites" profile. The "My Sites" profile cannot be password protected. In the Profile Manager, if "My Sites" is selected, then the Profile Name and Profile Password are grayed out.

3. When the user does the operation Right Click > Profile Manager... and there is a Profile Manager Password that is set, then a "Enter Profile Manager Password" dialog opens up first into which the user enters the password. If the password is correct, then the Profile Manager dialog opens up. If the password is not correct, then an error dialog opens up. The "Enter Profile Manager Password" dialog contains a button "Forgot Password" if a password reset e-mail address has been specified. If clicked, a temporary password e-mailed to the address that must be used within 24 hours. The only other recourse is for the user to remove the application data for FileZilla and start clean. There should not be a UI for doing this. However, online Help can profile information on how to clear FileZilla of stored profile data.

Once successfully entered, FileZilla remembers the selected profile for the duration of the FileZilla running session. When the user completely closes and then restarts FileZilla, the Site will revert to My Sites for password-protected profiles and will revert to the selected profile for profiles without passwords.

4. Once the user selects a profile in the Profile Manager dialog, then the top item in the Site Manager "My Sites" is replaced by the selected profile name.

5. Once the user selects a profile, then only those sites managed by that profile are shown.

6. If the user clicks the "Delete" button to delete a specific site, then if the "Require Confirmation to Edit Sites" checkbox was checked, then a dialog pops up into which the user must enter the profile password in order to delete the site from the profile. Similarly, if the user wishes to make changes to the connection information for a site (such as the Host, User, Password, etc.), then the same confirmation dialog will pop up into which the user must enter the profile password in order to continue making changes. Once the profile password has been successfully entered, the user can continue making changes on any site until the Site Manager's OK button has been clicked. When re-entering the Site Manager dialog, the profile password will again be required for password-protected profiles.

7. If the user selects Right Click > Export..., then only the content from the currently selected profile is exported.

8. If the user wishes to export all site data, then this functionality is accessed via the Profile Manager dialog by clicking on the Export All button.

9. When the user exports a profile (or all profiles via the Export All button), the exported information for password-protected profiles will be encrypted.

10. When importing a profile, if the imported profile has the same name as an existing profile, a dialog will pop up requiring the user to enter the existing password of the profile to continue.

11. When importing a profile, if the imported profile has the same name as an existing profile, then existing content will be overwritten by the imported content, including any password field.

12. The Profile Manager can change the password for any profile.

Using a certain file request (like: ./) returns the full path where the file lies.

For example: ​ftp://www.example.com/./

Will make the address bar in IE change to: ​ftp://www.example.com/C:/Documents%20and% 20Settings/Administrator/Desktop/ExampleWebSite/ (just an example).

This can be done with a simple limited read-only access to the server.

It would be great if there were an option (when the program is installed!) to automatically clear the history when the program is closed. This would be very helpful because the option could not be changed by any user because they can't install software, and each person's personal information (connect password etc.) would be safe as soon as the program is closed.

I work at a school and this feature would be great. The reason I'm asking for a high priority is that it's currently a security risk for students to access one another's personal drive space if they forget to clear their connect info.

This seems to be an issue that should at least have an option available to block invalid folder/files from being created in the servers file system. Here is an example of the folder names that were created (full log file also attached):

Note that folders were created with spaces thruout the name were created. Attempting to delete these folders via standard windows file managers cause errors.

Only method I was able to find to delete the folders was to use rmdir from command prompt on the parent folder (uploads).

By default, filezilla server register as service:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FileZilla Server\ImagePath = C:\Program Files\FileZilla Server\FileZilla Server.exe

but due windows .. a.. behavior, if name of ImagePath created without quotation (e.g. "C:\Program Files\FileZilla Server\FileZilla Server.exe"), first, c:\program.exe will be runned (if existed). By default windows XP, 2003 allows user (non-administrator) to create files in the root of "c:\". By putting program.exe file in c:\ user could escalate rights.

Solution: in the installation process, add an ImagePath with quotation.

When *.*.*.* is typed into the IP filters (any of them) to block all IP addresses (turn the server off effectively), the server sends a response when a connection attempt is made.

Currently it sends the welcome message.

This allows anyone sniffing for an FTP server to confirm there is indeed a server there. It should NOT send a response - ie. it should be in stealth mode.

The result is that the server may then suffer a Denial of Service attack on that port.

This causes a secondary error in that the FTP server tries to send the welcome message back to every connection attempt (which should not be allowed) and promptly kills the server.

Not only that but us poor sods who have to pay for our data usage (or have traffic limits) then promptly get a large bill.

FileZilla assumes that one user will only ever be a member of one group, which is very restrictive for a server that hosts sites for multiple organizations.

I host a number of websites on one server, several of which use the services of one or more of the same individuals to design their artwork, HTML, and/or scripts.

With other FTP servers I have been able to easily manage security issues by assigning group access to each website, or to several websites owned by the same entity, then adding users and making them members of each of the appropriate groups. This would be a very helpful feature in FileZilla.

In our company, we access the internet via an ftp proxy server. This server requires the personal user name and password. While Filezilla supports a secure mode for FTP connections (namely not saving any passwords in its database), it is not possible to keep Filezilla from saving the proxy password.

As our security guidlines do not allow to save any password in software on the users machine, we can not use FileZilla. Therefore it would be hightly desirably if Filezilla could prompt for the ftp proxy password every time it makes a connection / every time the program is loaded.

Secure ftp server using SSH2 would be great.. A secure client -> FileZilla (Already done) A secure server -> FileZilla (:-))

I point to this ​forum post. This feature is very useful (not only for me). Also filezilla will be on of the first free ftp-server for windows with this feature.

With an account I connect to via SFTP, which has a section sign (§) in its password, I can not authenticate. If I remove just that single character from the password, it works though.

Authentication and usage works with other Client WinSCP; so it is very probably an issue of FileZilla.

Blackboard is a very useful layout but when I open more than one tab, the areas in the new tabs doesn´t open with the same widths than the first ones did, they new tabs open the thirth area (files in server) very slim.

In Filezilla 2 it was possible to navigate a remote ftp-server with the keyboard. When pressing a key, Filezilla navigated to the first file starting with that letter. This also worked with multiple files with the same first letter, in that case you could cycle between those files.

It seems this functionality is gone in Filezilla 3 rc2.

Test case:

1. Connect to any FTP-server.
2. Open a directory with 2 or more files
3. Press the first letter key of some of the files/subdirectories in the current directie

Expected: Filezilla would navigate to the file with the corresponding first letter

If you are using an asterisk ("*") wildcard in any query (i.e. contains) except the regex query in the search remote files dialog, there will be no results.

As a workaround, a regular expression can be used, which is working as expected.

In case I connect to multiple servers at the same time using the new tab functionality in version 3.3.0-beta1 the search works only on the first tab. If I switch to an other tab and open the search dialog nothing happens after clicking on "Search".

Trying to search for files bigger than 4 gigabytes. I have the option in bytes which after my math should be 4000000000 FileZilla gives the error:Invalid size in condition. How can one search for large files over 2 GB?

Search directory: string, not yet translatable.

It would be nice to have some kind of "find on this page / tab" or search feature. I use this program everyday to search multiple ftp sites and love it.

Currently if I drag and drop file(s) into the file list panel (FileZilla Client), the list will scroll up and down while dragging at the top or bottom of the list.

I like this future also for the directory tree panels.

Sometimes the command/response window overwrites the menu bar, toolbar, and quick-connect bar when it scrolls up. Cannot reproduce every time, but it does happen often. Most recent version of client (3.5.0) still exhibits this behavior, which started two to four versions ago.

this not the bug but feature. Can you enable/add scroll feature on site manager list, as a developer, I have a huge list of sites defined and clicking that arrow button to scroll down to last site is rather irritating.

When use scroll in LocalSite file & folder, it show the bottom of LocalSite file & folder.

The upload bar covers the scroll bar in the file transfer list. I think it is caused by hiding the status of the file transfer. It is tough to explain. There is still a small space where the status should be and when it is above the scroll bar the upload bar will cover the scroll bar. You might have to scroll up and down once and then click on a file that is uploading. I am using the latest nightly build, it has been happening since the nightly builds after 3.1.3. I should have a screenshot attached to this ticket.

I have over 100 sites in the file manager and the drop-down menu, which appears when you click the arrow by the site manager icon, descends down past the bottom of my screen. It would be great to have a scroll bar and a smaller drop-down menu.

As it stands to reach one of the lower sites I need to type the first letter until I find it, and it's often hard to see.

Problem: I have a problem with the site manager drop down. I have so many sites that the drop down extends beyond my screen's resolution, which is fine since I can then click and hold on a little gray arrow icon near the bottom of the list. However, the scrolling takes forever, and isn't really natural... If I want to scroll backup I have to move my mouse to the top of the list and click and hold on a different arrow icon.

Solution: Implement a vertical scroll bar in the site manager on the right hand side!

Is it possible to integrate any scripting engine (for ex., DMDScript) to the server engine, like in g6ftp (​http://www.g6ftpserver.com/manuals/en/scripts.html)?

It should be nice to have a script language. You can add commands in a textfile and run it trough the commandline. e.g.: filezilla -x myfirstcomandfile.txt

myfirstcomandfile.txt:

Upon launching my previous version of the FileZilla client today, I received a message to download an updated version. I did this, and then proceeded to install it. However, upon initializing the installation, my Windows screen resolution was altered from 1280*1024 to 1024*768. Also, instead of the desktop background I previously had, I now have a black background. I am unable to successfully revert my resolution back to 1280*1024 as well (have not attempted a reset at this point).

Screen layout is not save in windows version after closing the application.

We are seeing scrambled permissions set with FileZilla 3.10.1.1. Multiple web developers have uploaded content to a web server that should have directory permissions of 775 and file permissions of 644. The server's umask is set to these values as a default, and previous versions of FileZilla uploaded files without problem.

After a blanket update from 3.9.06 to 3.10.1.1, uploaded directories had permissions set to 7644, 755, or in some cases 700. Uploaded files had permissions set to 640 or, in some cases, 700. The client machines were running both Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.9.

Reuploading the files using a non-FileZilla FTP client (Fetch on Macs, WS_FTP on Windows) had permissions properly set. Downgrading to FileZilla 3.7.3 (what we had cached) corrected the permissions problem, though it has other issues.

Can you add scheduling feature for download in filezilla client. Files that are in download queue starts and stops downloading.

Hi, Could you please incorporate Scheduler and Rsync in the next release...I am sure doing so will give Cuteftp a run for their money..;-)

Your software is really good, but the only one thing that is not implemented and that i need is to created a scheduled task. It could be interesting to say to FilleZilla to execute a download or an upload at a specified time of the day, or someting like that. But i'm patient so i will continue to run my download myself, and i'm waiting for this feature. I hope it will come soon... thanks a lot.

I would like to be able to upload web pages to the server in a command line that can be input into a Task scheduler like the one provided by windows.

i.e. pass the name of the file to uploaded, uploaded where, Site Name from Site Manager, password. The protocol I would like to use is SFTP using SSH2.

The idea is to allow users a customisable page on the LAN that is automatically uploaded each night to the web server WITHOUT the user having access to the server.

Would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

PS. This is the the most reliable and simple to use upload program I have ever used, well done and many thanks.

It would be lovelly to have tha ability to set any FTP transfer to a certain time(hh:mm) and date(yyyy-mm-dd) to a list of files.

Not sure whether these two issues classify as bugs or are just symptomatic of the fact it's beta...

There are two problems with performance that I see (possibly related). Whenever I start it the floppy drive scans, so I assume you're trying to read the floppy drive to check for it's existance. Secondly, it then takes more than 30 seconds before it actually displays the application. Again, this may be just because it is beta, but I wanted to mention it. It doesn't seem to cause excessive CPU use or anything, it just takes 30 seconds to display.

As for the logs, I have the debug settings enabled as mentioned above but can't find any logs anywhere. Assuming the debug information appears in the application message window there is nothing appearing in it.

Message recommends I move to trash and that its broken? I see previous ticket reports the same thing but I'm not using Apple app store for this. I'm downloading from source forge? Any ideas?

Hello. Wishes. FileZilla downloads files only with the attributes of the local download time. Yes, I can make a time zone correction in the settings. But I really wanted to have the downloaded files with the time attribute from the server and adjusted for the time zone.

Could be possible to add an option for saving or appending the log to a file when the server is closed?

It would be great to have possibility to save options/settings of application to another disk or another directory (I mean user settings, program settings, etc.). I have two disks (one for system, the other for my work). System disk is refreshed from disk image every month (so the computer's system stays clean). All configurations and all of my work is on the other disk. If program (e.g. FileZilla) doesn't support saving of its settings to another disk, I am forced to set all the settings by hand after every refresh of system disk. However, FileZilla is great ;)
