#5529 Doesn't overwrite Bug report normal FileZilla Server outdated
#4031 Doesn't properly recurse folders Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

The other day, I downloaded and extracted the zip package of poMMo to my desktop client. After using FileZilla 3.1.5.1 to upload the files to the server, poMMo install would not run properly. Investigating the problem, I noticed that not all of the files were uploaded, and FileZilla was not properly recursing all of the directories.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download poMMo (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pommo/poMMo-aardvarkPR16.1.zip?modtime=1207183826&big_mirror=0)
  2. Extract to desktop.
  3. Open FileZilla
  4. Connect to server.
  5. Navigate to poMMo folder in FileZilla folder tree.
  6. Hit ctrl-a to select all files and folders in poMMo folder.
  7. Drag to server folder.
  8. Pause queue.
  9. Notice not all folders and file are in queue (e.g. all subfolders in pommo\inc\lib folder).

Had same problem on two different computers. Vista Ultimate x64 and XP Pro SP3

"prensa/Ramírez%20afirma%20que%20la%20autopista%20Ronda-San%20Pedro%20la%20propuso%20el%20PP.htm"

Whereas this one is:

"prensa/El%20PP%20promete%20rebajar%20la%20fiscalidad%20a%20los%20discapacitados.htm"

The full path is:

http://ppfuentedepiedra.com/prensa/Ram%C3%ADrez%20afirma%20que%20la%20autopista%20Ronda-San%20Pedro%20la%20propuso%20el%20PP.htm

Firefox loads it up fine (that's where the above url came from), so I guess Filezilla doesn't see filenames with accents.

#8088 Doesnt detect if disconnected when trying to upload Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hello, i have a bug which i have to admit, is annoying me alot!

When my server disconnects me after inactivity (SFTP connection) i get the "Status: Disconnected from server" and all, but if i then click on a file or folder, such as ".." it will go to "Command: cd ".."" and not first reconnect to the server and then go to that folder.

A temporary fix is to press "Disconnect from current server" button, then press it again.

#9831 Don't ask again about trusting certs when port numbers changes Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected

As the summary says, this would make it a lot easier to verify which files were actually uploaded. #5216 Don't save failed credentials in quickconnect Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Since failed attempts at connecting are saved in the Quickconnect bar, there are two options for the next time I connect:

1) click on all the saved ones until I click the one with the correct password. 2) clear the bar and re-connect with the correct password so only the right one is saved. In this case I lose info for other FTP sites, and if I forget those passwords I am back at square one.

REQUEST: Do not save info in quickconnect bar unless a successful connection is made!

By the way, I've seen some great improvements lately. Thanks!

#7212 Don't use external IP for local connections appears broken Bug report normal FileZilla Server outdated
Description

This FTP server is accessed in two ways: the internet via NAT, and over a VPN to a second private network. Under 0.9.36 beta, the server is accessible via both Internet and VPN with the following passive mode settings:

Radio Button "Use the following IP:" selected, and the WAN IP from pfSense is entered Don't use external IP for local connections is checked Use custom port range is checked

The local subnet of the FTP server is 192.168.xx.xx/23 The local subnet of the VPN accessing the server is 10.xx.xx.xx/24

When upgrading to 0.9.37 beta, the VPN users were unable to connect to the FTP server. It turns out under 0.9.37 beta, using radio button "Default" allowed VPN users to connect, but not Internet users; radio button "Use the following IP:" allowed Internet users to connect, but not VPN users, even with "Don't use external IP for local connections" checked - users on the FTP server's local subnet were able to connect.

By saying VPN users could not connect, I specifically mean "via the FTP server's internal IP address. Those same users could access it using the Internet IP address. It appears the checkbox "Don't use external IP for local connections" no longer considers 10.xx.xx.xx to be a local connection, but does consider local subnet addresses to be local.

Once I downgraded to 0.9.36 beta, simultaneous access was restored for both Internet and VPN users, using the internet and internal IPs respectively.

Miscellaneous information:

  • http://www.g6ftpserver.com/en/ftptest was used for Internet connectivity testing.
  • I have not tested other subnets than the VPN 10.xx.yy.zz range.
  • The VPN is maintained by pfSense v1.23.
  • VPN users can access other machines on the FTP server's local subnet without issues.
#5684 Don't use external IP's for local connections Feature request high FileZilla Server outdated
Description

I think that here you should implement a way to manually enter which IP addresses should be considered as local connections. I have hosts from outside that are behind NAT and I am behind NAT too, so i will need to manually enter which IP's should be consider as local which should be consider as outside in order the passive mode to be correct for the external host and for the internal hosts. I have internal hosts that have IP's like 172.11 and etc that FileZilla interprets as external!???

I my case i have a 2 hosts that should be considered as external and only for them i will need the PASV mode - static IP to be set under: External server IP addresses for passive mode transfers: "Use the following IP (X.X.X.X)

I hope you understand my request.

#2615 Donation for a Few Updates Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I would be more than willing to donate say... $100 if you would add/change a couple features to FileZilla.

  1. Upload on save: as it is if you are editing a remote file you have to close the editor before it will upload the file. Need it to upload immediately when you click 'Save' in the editor. This is crucial for debugging.
  1. Make the File Attributes just like the ones in FileZilla Beta 3. Where you can Recurse into subdirectories, with the same options as Beta 3.

#5256 Double clicking on a item brings up the filename edit box too frequently Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Most of the time when I double click on a file, instead of going into the folder, it will open up the file rename box, which is extremely annoying. This is easily reproducible when I already have one or more items selected. In order to avoid it, I have to make sure I double click the tiny microscopic icon off to the side.

One time, I was fed up with the rename box and tried double clicking again once or twice on a folder, and some how it managed to copy the file name from one folder and rename a subfolder with that name... all through just clicking. That's really bad.

Open MENU Edit > Settings > Interface > File lists. Define double-click action as "View/Edit". Double-click any html or php file in order to edit it.

This works fine as long as there is a connection to the server. But if FileZilla is not connected to a server the following error message is shown:

Editing failed
Cannot edit file, not connected to any server

I often want to edit a file before establishing the connection to the server. In my opinion it does not make sense that local editing of a file is only possible if a connection to the server exists.

#161 Download Executable from UNIX server Bug report normal Other
Description

Operations on an executable file on a UNIX server are hampered when the file name is listed as "<filename>*" (the usual "ls -F" indication that the file is an executable). The problem occurs when the files is downloaded or operated on (for instance chmod'd), in which case the filename is passed as "<filename>*" to the command, which fails. The workaround is to temporarily remove execute permission on the file before downloading.

#3350 Download continues after 100%, corrupting the file... Bug report normal Other

Sometimes the download fails before a file is downloaded fully. That's nothing unusual actually. So I resume and it says something like "350 Restarting at 16177624." and all seems well and the download of the file continues. But when it reaches 100% the download simply goes on and on endlessly, blowing the file up and corrupting it.

I am on WinXP Pro SP2 using 3.0.4.1 I tried 3.0.2.1 and 3.0.3 before and they had the same problem.

#11502 Download fails on all files except very small ones Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I am using FileZilla 3.30.0 in order to connect from my Windows 10 Home 64 bit PC to my office server (Windows 2003 server) through a VPN internet connection.

I am able to upload (from my PC to the server) files of any size, but cannot download files larger than a couple of Kbytes: in the example below, the transfer fails after 2,920 bytes, restarts the loading (where it stopped, I imagine), fails again after the subsequent 2,920 bytes), and so on, until in the end it aborts the connection before having managed to load the whole file.

I hadn't used this connection in order to download contents for quite a while, but am pretty sure it worked well with my previous home PC (which was running Windows 7). This is a new machine, to which I copied the FileZilla parameters.

Filezilla asks to overwrite one of the files! (that's strange, because the file does not exists!) If you say yes... it looks like filezilla downloaded both files, because they are both visible in the left panel and have the right filesize. But if you refresh the left panel, one of the files is suddenly not visible! (the file actually didn't exist in the first place!)

#4103 Download never stops Bug report normal FileZilla Server outdated
Description

This is my first bug report, hope I explain details you need. I have Filezilla Server 0.9.29 and a few computers at home with filezilla ftp and other ftp programs including download managers that support ftp, I use filezilla server to share my videos and music. At random times when downloading a file it just never stops, for example, I have Free Download Manager copying the contents of one folder from the server to another hdd, one video being copied called Wing Commander.avi is open in the server progress window but the program downloading it shows 1265703035% [4096 ?], if I cancel the download and resume it the same thing happens. If I cancel the download and restart from begining it normal completes the download. Now had a similar program using filezilla ftp to download bulk files the same way but filezilla ftp just stopped with no error on 99%. I have a screen capture to attach, but ticking the box below "I have files to attach to this ticket" doesn't bring up a attachment box.

#432 Download not working Bug report normal Other
Description

When I have a local site path to my Web site like:

fileserver\public-web\ecs-domain\web\ecs\htdocs

Then when I connect to my Internet FTP site and do a download of a file then Filezilla informs me of it about to overwrite the local file. So far, so good.

But the information of the local file is incorrectly shown. The local file file length is really only 73 bytes and it tells me that the local file is 80 bytes! The file on the FTP is also 80bytes.

When I click on the OK icon to get it to download it, it says it has downloaded it but it doesn't appear in the local folder.

I've tried this with several files and I even try first deleting the local file first and Filezilla keeps saying that its about to delete the local file but its no longer there!

The view within Filezilla of my local files doesn't seem to reflect what Windows explorer says they are. I've tried clicking on the refresh icon in Filezilla, makes no diff.

If I click within the local files view on one of the local files shown (but its really deleted) to read its properties, then it of course can't find the file!

If I try to download a file that is no longer present in the local folder then Filezilla pops up a 'File already exists' window. But it doesn't!

#3776 Download of file resumes after completed to download more than 100% Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I have a Windows 2003 FTP server that I connect to and download files from on a regular basis. Recently when I download compressed files (zip, 7z, etc) with FileZilla it downloads more than 100%. The process is as follows

  • Connect to server
  • Browse to folder
  • Add 2 or more files to queue (I have 2 concurrent downloads enabled)
  • Files download
  • Download progress reaches 100%
  • Download completes and then resumes and continues download until I force a cancel (I have seen it download 3x the original file size)

Here is a snippet from the FTP log:

Status: Starting download of /sanderson/cdrive/StorageViz/StorageVizCache_EYECATCHERWS2_200808150010.zip Command: CWD /sanderson/cdrive/StorageViz Response: 250 CWD command successful. Command: RETR StorageVizCache_EYECATCHERWS2_200808150010.zip

If you notice the "restarting" line -- that byte count is the actual file size of the completed download.

Note: I have tried with with a client of Windows XP and Vista

#4943 Download of or deletion of folders not working Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Using 3.3.0-beta1, after using the program for a while to upload and download files and folders, when trying to delete a folder on the remote server, or download a folder, including the folder itself, from the remote server, FileZilla will just ignore the command.

Uploading local folders to remote server works fine. Renaming remote folders works fine. Dragging a remote folder into another remote folder is also fine. If I try to download the whole folder or delete the whole folder it will do nothing, not even attempt it, no errors.

I am using multiple tabs when this happens, I do not know if that has anything to do with it or not though. On initially starting the program, whether I have multiple tabs or not it works ok, then later on it will [seemingly randomly] stop working. Then the only way to download a folder is to create it on the local side manually, open it and download the files.

Note that if you select all files & folders in a folder and download, it will download the files and ignore the folders.

#5017 Download stop randomly without any reason Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi,

Since the 3 last versions (3.3.0.1, 3.3.0 and 3.2.8.1), from time time, when I download from my server (Ubuntu Desktop 8.04) a list of files, the download stops without any error message and without reason. I just do a right click, then uncheck 'Traiter la file d'attente' and then recheck and the download restart until it stops again at a later time, on the same file or not. I was unable to focus a type of file, a file size or something.

I never have this problem with the 3.2.8 and previous versions.

#3974 Downloaded file continued to download after file size was reached Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I dragged a group of files, folders and an ISO from a remote site to a local folder and one of the zip files continued to download way past its origanl size. The origanal file was a 74 MB in size but it continued to download past that and I eventually stopped it at 122 MB. The progress bar reported as 100 % complete. It appears that the file download just restarts every time it reaches the end of the original file.

I restarted the same file and it did it again. This time i let it restart a second time (149 MB) before I stopped it.

#4788 Downloaded file size doubles every time Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

I download the a zip datafile every night. The file size increases daily and the file name is DataBaseNameYYYYMMDD.zip.

For some time now the downloaded file ( using different FZ versions ) is exactly double the size of the file on the remote site. When opening the zip file, the files are NOT duplicated.

I am not using Windows server.

Thank you

#8528 Downloaded files truncated to 1MB Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Every file downloaded from a ftp server (fileapp on iPad) whose size is > 1MB, is truncated to 1MB.

For example a file whose size on ipad is 1.467.023 byte when downloaded is truncated to 1.048.576 byte.

Downloading it with another client (command line on OSX, or explorer on Win7) works well.

The 2 hosts (ipad and ftp client) are on the same ip network (no routing) without any proxy.

Filezilla doesn't display any error message and the transfer is ended succesfully, even if it truncate the file.

Regards Alessandro

#3914 Downloaded large files are not removed from queue Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

When downloading large files (1-2 GB) which take quite some time (e.g. several hours at 80 kB/s), they remain in the queue although they have been downloaded completely. Also, the connection seem to be still open.

If I reopen Filezilla and press the "Q->" button, a short transfer will be initiated (about 1 kB) and the file is then successfully removed.

This bug is annoying because the computer would not shut down over night, and if there are many of those files, other queue entries would wait forever for their turn.

#4068 Downloaded large files are not removed from queue Bug report normal FileZilla Server duplicate
Description

Please see ticket: http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/3914

This error appears to come from the server side. I'm working o a dedicated server and the timeout for inoperativity is set to 60 seconds (both options).

When downloading a large file which will take more than 60 seconds (normally 1-2 hours), the server appears to have dropped silently the command channel. When the download eventually finishes, the server can't tell the client it has done so, thus the file remains in the queue.

To fix this I believe it is necessary to keep the commend line up and connected as long as the file transfer is in progress. I've tried to disable the timeout, and then it works.

#5258 Downloading a file with a colon ":" in it makes 0 byte file Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Whenever I download a single file with a name like "jvm.stdout.2010-03-03-11:18" from my linux server to my Windows XP machine it looks like it's downloading it, but when it's finished, the file is 0 bytes. The file is still renamed properly "jvm.stdout.2010-03-03-11" to support windows naming requirements.

But if I select 2 files, e.g. "jvm.stdout.2010-03-03-11:18" and "localhost.2010-03-03.log", then both files are downloaded properly.

It's only when I select the single file with the colon in it does it not download properly.

But maybe it's not the colon at all. Maybe it's something to do with the file name itself. So please try with the file names I've given you.

#7771 Downloading a locked file into a local folder overwriting an existing one, it destroy the local file Nitin Kumar Gautam Feature request low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

There is a local file that must be overwritten with an updated version located on server remote folder. After connected to the server, I double click on the file I want to download. I confirm to overwrite the local file destination. Filezilla try to download the remote file, but it's locked, so the transfer fails but the local file becomes a zero byte file length.

I guess that this issue should be fixed simply checking the remote file availability before to open the local file stream.

#4513 Downloading a zero byte file puts the file into the Failed Transfers list Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Just download a zero byte file.

In my case, I put a zero byte file in the root of my site for Google indexing:

Tested with the latest version:

#4881 Downloading failes, not renaming - charset issue (iso-8859-1) Bug report high FileZilla Client rejected
Description

First of all: I have read http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_Set and you could reject this request simply based on the fact that UTF-8 isn't used. However, please read on.

The problem is that renaming works, but downloading fails. I would have understood if both failed. This inconsistent behavior seems strange and is a bug in my view.

The server is a CentOS 4.7 with OpenSSH 3.9p1. It's using iso-8859-1 as default charset. When FileZilla connects, it deactivates UTF-8 (because the output of the ls command contains illegal characters I guess - a test file named "æøå.txt"). When I try to download the file "æøå.txt", it fails:

Command: get "æøå.txt" "C:\Documents and Settings\Hans\Desktop\æøå.txt"
Error:	/home/hans/æøå.txt: open for read: no such file or directory

However, renaming works:

Command: mv "æøå.txt" "æøa.txt"
Status:	/home/hans/æøå.txt -> /home/hans/æøa.txt

It's probably my lack of knowledge when it comes to the SFTP protocol, that makes this behavior weird to me.

Thanks for your time and effort - FileZilla is great!

Regards, Hans

#4275 Downloading files to wrong directories Bug report high FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I saw some older tickets about this issue, but never with a (working) solution.

When I checked my local hdd after downloading a big folder with images, I noticed that directories are all over the place. I can't figure out if the messing up is consequent.

I'm using active mode, but the wizard tells me everythings fine. I'm also using a filefilter to exclude thumbnails. When I add the dir to the queue, everything seems fine, trouble start when processing the queue (wrong folders are immediately created, while NOT listed in the queue before).

Hi,

I have been recommended your 5.5 version, and it would please me to have it, but unfortunately I have not been able to download it.

When I push Download some competitor of yours sneaks in and tries to offer his product instead.

I had noticed that the 3. version no longer keeps the webhouse and user data in memory, but the latest version probable does it.

Kind regards

#394 Downloading large file lists causes timeout. Bug report normal Other

#638 Downloading multiple symbolic link files from UNIX machine Bug report normal Other
Description

Using the v2.2.6 version, when I right-hand-click and 'download' a single file (which is a symbolic-link to the real file stored in a remote directory) the FTP is request is successful and the file is download immediatly.

However, if I use [ctrl][a] or select multiple files and then 'download' them FileZilla gets into a lengthy, almost recursive loop, presumably trying to build a filelist. With a small number of files the download is successful.

It might be that is re-freshes the remote filelist between the analysis of each of the symbolic-link files, re- counting the number of files in the directory???

Many Thanks Mike <mike@…>

#10258 Downloading stops 5 minutes after setting a speed limit Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hello, Since a couple of weeks, when I set a "speed limit" to my downloads, they start but about 5 minutes later, they "stop". Actually, the current transfer still appears, nothing apparently changes, but the speed freezes at its last value and the transfer stops in reality. I can stop the queue processing... I mean Filezilla is not "frozen".

I can close and restart Filezilla to get it working again, but with the same problem 5 minutes later. Everything is ok if no speed limit is enabled.

Any idea ? Thanks from France !

#3493 Downloads a much bigger file than exists Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version 3.0.9.2 Windows XP SP2

Connected to a buddies FTP server to download a couple of .rar files. One file was 85MB and the other was 76MB. Everything looked fine until the file reached the expected size. At that point, the time remaining stayed at 0 and the file continued to download. It kept downloading and around the point where it was approximately 150MB, I copied the file to another folder to attempt to open it. I opened it, and the contents looked fine. It continued to download until it was 156MB and then produced the following error: The data is invalid. Error: Critical error

Same exact thing with the second file (except that one went until 145MB).

I extracted the file one more time after the download completed and again, the contents seemed fine, just the file itself was about twice as big as it was supposed to be.

#4655 Downloads not recursing folders and multiple slashes in folder list Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I'm attempting to download files from a remote site using FileZilla Client 3.2.6.1. Any files which are in the selected folder are correctly downloaded, but any folders FileZilla does a directory listing and doesn't add anything to the queue.

I think there is a clue in the remote site - it starts off when I connect with the path D:/home/\

If I go into that and enter the Default folder within home, it changes to D:/home//Default/\ I then have 2 entries in the remote folder list at the top level - each of the above entries. If I pop out D:/home/\ and try to select Default, it won't do anything and any folders that have popped out have ?s on them

If I now pop out D:/home//Default/\ and go into test.test, the remote path becomes D:/home//Default/test.test/\ and this is also added to the remote folder list.

If I continue this process further, I end up with something like D:/home//Default/test.test//htdocs/aspnet_client//system_web/2_0_50727/\ and a number of entries at the top level of the list.

The server that I am remoting to is Matrix FTP Server (from Fasthosts - provided with a dedicated server) running on Windows 2003 Server. I suspect that some of the problem may be coming from this, but I have tried it with an old copy of FileZilla 2.2.32 on my Windows XP Pro machine and that works fine - it recurses downloads perfectly and I get a path like D:/home/Default/test.test/htdocs/aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/

While it is possible to copy files from separate Explorer windows onto the remote server by dragging them onto the FileZilla window, it is not possible to copy files from the remote server by dragging them onto separate Explorer windows.

This is a very useful feature for tasks involving the quick transfer of just one or two files, since chances are good that the user has faster access to the destination folder via their own mechanisms (e.g., a folder shortcut) than by using the FileZilla Local View pane.
