Using the latest release (3.2.1) on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 (Mac Pro, Intel Quad Core Xeon, 4GB RAM):

If an external drive was last used as the 'Local Site', and has since been ejected, and FileZilla closed, re-opening the application will immediately crash, and no access to the application will be gained until the same external drive is reconnected.

Normally, the application should revert to a default folder on the OS hard drive, but in the latest version, this does not seem to be the case.

First time I ran a freshly installed filezilla 3 b4 it immediately crashed.

2nd time it worked.

I am running windows xp sp2, and running as a user without admin rights

Nothing has changed in my setup, and I have never had this problem before - plus it is occurring on multiple sites. When I drag a file or folder over to upload, the app just crashes. Steps to reproduce:

Load program:

Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 11.00.200.049

Run FileZilla client and connect to an FTP server. At that point, pretty much any mouse click on the FileZilla client window will cause it to crash.

The crash description: Faulting application filezilla.exe, version 3.3.5.0, faulting module oleacc.dll, version 4.2.5406.0, fault address 0x0001e368.

Workaround:

Shutdown Dragon NaturallySpeaking, use FileZilla client, then shut down FileZilla client, then restart Dragon.

When I drag some files from server file list to a local folder, it crashes.

Ir returns a message when I exec filezilla from command line:

I'm using Filezilla 3.5.0

Filezilla crashes when a file is dragged and dropped from the local site to the remote site. When the file is double clicked in the local site it is transfered without error. I am running version 3.0.9.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Darwin rc0902b-dhcp179.apple.com 9.2.2 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.2: Tue Mar 4 21:17:34 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.4.31~1/RELEASE_I386 i386). Maybe it crashes because I am using the i686 version on an i386, but the i686 version is the only one I could find for OS X.

I started up, and upgraded to a new version, transfered 3 files, and a folder that was empty. It crashed, i wasn't sure at first, so i did it again. it crashed. then i just tried to transfer the folder by its self, and it crashed again.

FileZilla "crashes" sometimes, when trying to upload through SFTP. When approx. 200+ files or end of queue, it can without no reason simply crash.

Happend while trying to upload Wordpress 2.3, which then had to be tried a few times, before succeed.

For reproduce, try either upload the folders wp-admin+wp-content or wp-includes.

I have been trying to upload a 1.2GB file with FileZilla via the queue. Not once has it uploaded fully but that could be due to networking issues. However FileZilla crashes if there is an error in the upload process.

Also on smaller files the upload sometimes does complete but the file is corrupted i.e. the byte sizes mismatch.

This happens on both the latest stable release 3.1.3.1 and the release candidate 3.1.4-rc1.

How can i help to further troubleshoot as i am not sure if there is any trace/log left.

If debug tracing is enabled and you connect to a GSS enabled server, the client crashes with a C++ Library Runtime error. Does not crash if using SFTP or non- GSS FTP (domain not listed in GSS enabled servers). Crashes whether or not you have Kerberos tickets. Last line in debug logs is the server's 220 ready message:

FileZilla 2.2.31 crashes pretty regularly in Vista. It crashes on uploads and downloads, especially when uploading or downloading a lot of files. It seems pretty random but happens frequently.

Filezilla 3 beta 5 OS X 10.4.8

When I right click in the lower file panel of the remote host pane and select "Create Directory" it doesn't prompt me at all or create a directory for me to rename. On the local pane the same action prompts me with a "Please enter the name of the directory that should be created" option.

I did notice that when I do select "Create Directory" on the remote server (using proces described above) that the cursor highlights the "Host:" field in the top "Quickconnect" bar...

Minor: Also not sure if you want to change the Quickconnect button to read "Quick Connect" rather than the single word...

I do a lot of editing of files, and currently to make a copy of a file before I edit it, I do this:

1. Switch to c:\temp
2. Copy file from remote to temp
3. Rename it locally to filename.ext.backup
4. Re-upload to server

Would be great if I could just ctrl+drag a file on the remote view to create a copy of a file.

Or right-click and "Create backup" which will just copy a file and put .backup on the end of it.

Be able to right-click in the interface sections displaying server folders/files and be able to create a blank text file (or via some other quick-ish means).

Reason: As a developer I frequently find it annoying when I'm creating many new files for various things and I have to create/keep a blank file around on my computer and drag it onto the server every time I need one.

I create a new directory, but it does not appear in the directories list. Pressing F5 does not help eaither. Re-login did not help - directory is still not listed. I go and check with the hosting FTP manager - directory is there. I closed down and opened Filezilla, logged again and directory was bisible.

Using FileZilla v2.2.9 on a Win XP Home system, sftp transferring for a GNU/Linux system.

FileZilla somehow manages to create a directory entry with ( from what it looks like) two dots (..) in them. The transfered directory actually contained three dots. The complete directory tree starting with this directory is now inaccessible from windows, with the message "c:/foo/bar/baz.. refers to a location which is not available [...]" (translated from Swedish). Alas, I cannot even remove the directory in question; I get the same message.

FileZilla should probably be a bit more careful when creating filenames, as they can possibly contain non-windows legal characters and combinations.

I would be nice if FileZilla could translate or remove such characters, without miscreating them like this, or like most other file transfer software seem to do; just fail silently and not bother to create the misnamed file at all.

I've been trying to get FileZilla (v.3.5.3) through to tripod.com in order to upload my files to my website located there (​http://australianart.tripod.com/). Tripod assert, over and over, that they can ftp access my website without any problems from their end. However I cannot access my website and have been trying for over 3 weeks now without success and always with the below-listed error message:

Mac OS 10.5.8 on Intel iMac and MacBook Pro FileZilla v. 3.2.8.1

When dragging an entire folder of 80 images, only 3 images copy to the destination folder. I then dragged one of the images that failed to the local window and the log results are below. I was able to successfully download the entire folder using the Fetch application on a Mac. This same error occurred when using FileZilla on a Windows XP Dell PC.

I kept getting a Critical Transfer Error in FileZilla while uploading to SourceForge. It turns out that the server was prompting me to switch to PASSIVE mode; when I did that, the problem went away. It works fine now.

Is it possible for "Critical Transfer Error" to suggest Passive Mode as a possible solution?

When using the Unix/Linux version of FileZilla, Ctrl+A does not invoke a selection of all files in the focused pane (local or remote).

As is, the only way to select all files is to click on the first, and shift+click on the last.

Pressing TAB cycles the keyboard focus between the UI elements of the screen, including the Quickconnect toolbar, Local site and Remote site paths, directory trees, and file lists.

Pressing CTRL+TAB should change tabs, but instead it functions the same as TAB, until/unless the focus is currently on the Local site or Remote site path fields, at which point it functions normally until focus changes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Connect to FTP server
2. Enter non-empty subdirectory
3. Select ".." by clicking it
4. Select all items by pressing Ctrl-A
5. Try to drop selected items to left pane in order do download them

Expected result: FZ Client allows to drag them and adds them to download quene

Current result: FF Client either beeps or starts displaying square frame as while selecting multiple items with mouse

Currently one can copy all/part of the local URL by selecting, right-clicking and selecting copy. It would be a little quicker to also be able to use Ctrl-C (on windows). I use this to syncronize the live server's directory with my local directory.

There is a logic problem in CControlSocket::ParsePwdReply when the server does not quote the directory path. The new strategy is to search for a space following the presumed start of the file name. But the position of the second space is calculated relative to the start of the first, yet used as if it were absolute in the original string.

Instead of saying:

reply = reply.Mid(pos1 + 1, pos2 - pos1 - 1);

It should be:

reply = reply.Mid(pos1 + 1, pos2);

When I add a New site and click on the Host text box the cursor (vertical blinking bar) does not show but if you start typing, text is entered into the Host text box as if the cursor was there.

In fact the problem is with the 1st text box you click on after pressing the New site button. If you then click on another text box the cursor shows fine (and all subsequent boxes until you create another new site).

When running a FTP server from behind a NAT router, you need to be able to specify to the server which IP address to use for PASV transfers. Cannot use the IP address from the socket because that IP address is only valid within the local network, and is inaccessible from the other side of the router.

So, this patch allows you to configure:

• Wether the IP address is customized.
• The actual IP address.
• A range of ports that will be used in a rotating

fashion.

The range of ports is necessary because, in order to be able to forward connection requests to local machnes, the router needs to know those ports. You could always tell the router to forward all ports 1 to 65535, but that's hardly appropriate.

Every day I want to upload some files to FTP server and then rename them. It is a hard work when I have to rename many of files.

So I suggest that FileZilla will provide Custom Server-Side Commands feature.

i.e.: If there are 3 files(1.txt,2.txt.3.txt) will to be rename to (a.txt,b.txt,c.txt), then Filezilla can let me define a commmands-group as a menu to do this work.

Hi again, it would be a nice feature to be able to add a custom tab name for each connection, rather than having the auto generated ones.

So basically there would be another field in the Site Manager generals tab, that would you let input a 'tab name' that is then displayed in the tab of that particular connection. S

There should be an option (global perhaps, or per-user and per-group) where you can have the server execute a program of choice when a file that matches a filter is uploaded.

For example: The administrator should be able to tell the server that when *.exe;*.com;*.scr;*.zip files are uploaded, the server should run, say, c:/apps/av/av.exe "%1" (%1 being the path to the file that was just uploaded) and the server waits for a response code from the program and if it is not 0x00 then it shoud either send the file to a quire or simply delete it.

Custom filetype associations are not working.

Filezilla is using the Default filetype associations even though "Use filetype associations if available" has been selected in Settings dialogue box

however when I use the context menu (right button menu) to open a file in the local site: file window of Filezilla, the system default filetype associations are used eg a file of type .txt is opened in Notepad.exe instead of xint.exe. BTW xint does not require any parameters and this feature worked fine on a previous version of filezilla (sorry - can't recall which).

Just a thought, but it would be quite handy if I could share a single site manager xml file with multiple users on a network drive.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, there doesn't seem to be any option to specify the location of the sitemanager XML file though, either in the app or the settings in the registry.

When using the custom time format %H:%M:%S%P, the resulting Last modified column is blank. However, when using custom %H:%M:%S, the correct data/time is listed, without the am/pm.

I haven't tried other custom time settings because the %P option is the only of interest to me.

Add ability to customize the FTP message for every FTP action; for example, if there is no data transfer, we should be able to change the message shown in the console, than just show "Connection timed out".

Right now the double-click action for clicking on a file is upload/download. I think it would be nice to be able to set what the double-click action is.

The maximum number of connections should be customized for each site in the site manager, as it is different in different servers.

I'd like to cut and paste files in filezilla. I know that you can edit files and make new directories. I'd like to cut a group of files or folders and paste it to a different directory remotely like Core FTP Lite. Thank you.

Please Please Please add DAV support. There are already 2 other requests for that. DAV is way better than FTP in most cases, it's only missing a good win32 client ( I got all the great clients I want on Linux ).

When I right-click on a remote file and choose View/Edit, I get an error message that says "DDE Execute request failed: A request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out." The file I am trying to edit is web.config which I have associated to open with Notepad++. When I click View/Edit in Filezilla, it opens Visual Studio 2005, displays the error message in Filezilla, and does NOT open the file.

Attempts to do "View/Edit" on a remote file that happens to be a Microsoft Office file (e.g., Word .doc, Excel .xls) fail with the new version of Filezilla (3.2.1). They worked just fine in 3.2.0. The error message you see is:

The file "" cannot be opened: The associated program (WX_DDE #c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Excel.exe" /e#Excel#system#[open("")]) could not be found.

Since I use this program to remotely edit Office files on outside computers, this is a blocker for me, but I have set the priority to "high".

I get the following very annoying error when I right click and select the view/edit command: "DDE execute request failed: a request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out."

Using:

Windows XP Sp2 Filezilla 3.2.3.1, build date 2009-03-25

Files:

.aspx .asax .master .config

I searched google and forums, loads of people seem to be having this problem. And there seems to be no solution. This has been reported to you before by others and your response was that the issue had been fixed in the latest release. This is obviously not the case.

can you add more options in the 'site manager' ???

usefull options will be :

• retry count
• delay between retries

i have found nothing to set these parameters.......

In 3.2.6 rc1, running on Windows, data execution prevention closed filezilla after clicking on view/edit.

I couldn't find anything like this bug in the database. Apologies if its already reported.

Would be nice find the DESKTOP into the Local/Remote View to be able to download/upload from there without scrolling to desktop folder under c:\...\..

I found a bug when I clicked on the free download filezilla client, after that I was directed to "​https://download.filezilla-project.org/client/FileZilla_3.57.0_win64_sponsored2-setup.exe", here it says "Not Found. The requested URL was not found on this server.". After that, I started to make changes to the url to "​https://download.filezilla-project.org/client/", here a directory listing bug appears from the index page "​https://download.filezilla-project.org/". DLL Hijacking vulnerability is discovered in latest version of FileZilla Client which is 3.63.1 which allows an attacker to gain access, execute arbitrary code via crafted DLL.

Description:Found DLL injection in the FileZilla Client Version 3.25.2, successfully injected dllinject.dll into the filezilla process address space. On successful execution of the attack, temp file is created into E drive as I have written the same logic in the dllinject.dll.

Impact: On successful execution of DLL injection attack, an attacker can create windows user or other malicious activity as I have performed the text file creation.

Remediation: You can prevent this attack by hooking LoadLibrary. In your hook you check against a list of DLL names that you know are part of the process and that may be loaded, or you can check against a list of known DLLs you don't want to load. When you find a DLL you don't want to load SetLastError(ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED) then return NULL. That will stop the DLL from loading.

Double clicking in Filezilla Double clicking on a file is universally used to 1 open a file if the file’s associated program is open Example: .html file opens into Firefox 2 open a file’s associated program if not open, then the file into that program. Example: As above but first opens FF

• open an application/program if the file is an executable file

In my experience the use of double click in FZ is highly unusual, confusing and detrimental.

Double clicking to upload or download a file means those used to double clicking for the above will result in an unintended down or upload. If the settings are set to not ask if you want to replace, then you have just wiped out a file. In addition if you did not know this was the function of double click you may not notice that the down or upload has taken place as there is nothing to indicate the event. So files could be lost without the user even knowing.

FZ has drag and drop AND right click menu to up or download files so the double click is surely not needed.

Double click in the local folder could open the default editor or default browser ans in the remote folder open in appropriate viewer/prog or "no effect."

When I try to download some files in mp3 format, the size of file DUPLICATE without notice...

Example:

Original file (local computer): 1 minute 00 second After download (ftp remote server): 2 minutes 00 second (audio duplicate - finish and start again).

Why? How can I fix this...

I've been trying to get filezilla to work with a ftp server that has the control connection encrypted but not the data connection, I was not able to get it to work, as filezilla requires the data connection to be encrypted.

The kind of setup I was testing is found on some servers and also if you want to encrypt the control connection of a non secure server using a ssl wrapper.

I think that making filezilla automatically detect if the data connection is crypted or not and have the user aprove non encrypted connections would be good, another alternative could be to have an option to assume that the data connections of a server are not encrypted and when this option is on, unencrypted data is allowed.

Hope you like the idea and implement it and keep on making your program the best windows ftp client ;-)

Only Client 3.2.6 corrupts files during upload/transfer. Downloading files works just fine. During upload of files to filezilla server 0.9.27 and filezilla server 0.9.32 both of which are set up with ftps port 990 using passive transfer mode, files stop and restart at random offsets thusly corrupting the files. also strange is if you click disconnect from ftp server during a transfer, the files continue to transfer. The only way to stop it is to completely close filezilla client. Error received during corruption is "Data connection SSL warning: SSL3 alert write: fatal: bad record mac". logged as follows...(names and ip addresses changed)

I have several two clients that upload logs to a FileZilla server 0.9.41. For some reason I receive the following dialog on the server during transfers. I read other articles that had a patch for this problem, but I am unable to access the patch from the previous tickets. The post was from 4 years ago, so I wondered if it's still applicable.

All of a sudden I start seeing this error in the log and the connections are being dropped:

Data connection TLS warning: SSL3 alert write: fatal: bad record mac

The only major change was the installation of the regular Windows updates the day before. I've updated to the latest version 0.9.60 but that also has the same problem.

This was previously reported in tickets #8771 and #4626 but it looks like we have something similar again.

This error message came up for me today after upgrading to the latest FileZilla Server.

How to reproduce this error

You need two AWS EC2 machines which happen to be in the same region. Put FileZilla server on one of them. Put ncFtpPut client on the other one. ( Download the client from ​https://www.ncftp.com/ncftp/ )

When ncFtpPut tries to connect, probably due to some AWS routing optimizations, it comes through using the private IPv4 of the client machine instead of using the public IPv4. This accounts for the difference.

Would very much like to see support for storage of Settings and User info in a database such as MSSQL, MySQL, or other ODBC compliant databases etc versus the local XML storage mechanism now in place.

This would make deployment and provisioning of new users a snap and give a way to hook the server into existing company's (and ISPs) provisioning systems. It would allow FileZilla to compete with the high-end commercial products.

I have just discovered that the date & time formating does not follow the system default.

On my French computer (but Filezilla in English) I should see d/m/y for the date and h:m in 24 format for the time but the format remains in US even if the "use system default" is choosen.

I tried to untick/restart/tick "use system default" but the problem remains.

But if I choose to use a custom format it's working.

I put in a ticket yesterday (#9616) that was closed because the Server claimed to not run on the OS X 3.7.2. To confirm, I am running on a Mac OS X 10.8.3

The date formats for local and remote currently display in two different formats. The Remote displays in bytes, and the local displays in whole KBs which makes file size comparison very difficult.

This bug was first notices in 1.94, I just upgraded to 1.97 and the problem is still there.
