#2466 Log FileZilla Server Interface connections Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

When the filezilla server interface is disconnected from a server the only data currently recorded is:

Connection to server closed. Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds Reconnecting to server...

And if it connects successfully:

Connected, waiting for authentication Logged on

It would be great to have timestamps for these events displayed in hte interface (no need to write them to the log, though a server log for interface actions might be nice). I would hope to see something like this:

(FZSADM) 5/5/2006 12:16:57 PM - Connection to server closed. (FZSADM) 5/5/2006 12:16:57 PM - Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds (FZSADM) 5/5/2006 12:17:02 PM - Reconnecting to server... (FZSADM) 5/5/2006 12:17:02 PM - Connected, waiting for authentication (FZSADM) 5/5/2006 12:17:03 PM - Logged on

In this way I would be able to determine if my remote server died at a specific point so I can review appropriate logfiles. For servers that do not have hundreds of FTP users at any given moment, this one detail can solve hours of digging through logs in dozens of different places trying to find the source of a problem.

Thanks!

#2517 Hide and disallow access to arbitrary files and directories Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Being able to exclude some files from bein shared would be useful. Some servers do this by not sharing hidden files but I would like to request a way to "hide" files based on wildcards

#2531 Support speed limit rules for arbitrary IP ranges Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

An option to add would be to have an optional rule that would allow you to set a a different transfer for a WAN and a LAN; or an option to set speed limits per ip range.

I like to have a limit set for the WAN but would like to have an unlimited speed set for my LAN at the same time.

#2568 Different speed limit on user inactivity Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Hello, I'd like a feature, which would enable setting different speed limit when the computer is used and different when it's inactive.

I imagine it's the same as when an instant messenger application changes your status to away after few minutes of inactivity.

#2598 Display time and date in server welcome message Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

%t and %d will include current server time or date in Welcome Message just like %v includes current version.

With this new feature it is possible to retreive time/date from FTP server in order to setup time/date on remote embedded devices such as POS terminals and similar.

#2600 Ban an IP address if a specific username is used Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Thank you for very good FTP server. I like "Ban user's IP address" function. If possible, can you make "NG users list" function? I want like this.. 1)make usernames list in admin

ex. administrator, root #I think none wants to use these username.

2)if user logs on using one of these username, check the IP and work "Ban user' IP address" on this IP.

#2651 Merge the contents of duplicate directory aliases Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

for Windows version of Filezilla server:

I have 2 paths in my PC: E:\Movies F:\Movies

so the shared folders like this:

Home D:\ List/No-subdir

E:\Movies D:\Movies List/Subdir F:\Movies D:\Movies List/Subdir

In that case, in FTP Client must show a path: D:\Movies with contents of E:\Movies & F:\Movies merged. am I right?

In my filezilla client instead, shows 2 folders "Movies" in the root (!) and I can access only one.

#2658 "Delete To Trash" Option Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Like to see a "Delete to Trash" option where if a file is deleted from a remote client, the file is move to the trash as opposed to deleted from the drive(s).

#2683 public upload folder Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

I want the ability to have an upload folder that when someone attempts to list anything in their, it will show as empty. Even though their could be files and directories already their, it should not show up when a list is performed. The user should be able to upload to this folder as well but can't see that the file they upload. Here is an example:

/ Can see the list of files/directories in here including upload. /upload/ Can't list anything in here unless they know the name of it. But when they do try to list, it doesn't give the ftp client a permission denied message, just shows nothing. /upload/test/ Can see everything and any directories in it but can't upload anything.

I've tried setting files to be write and not read with no list permissions, and even just write and no list permissions can still can't accomplish what I want to do.

#2891 Allow the server to automatically start in a disabled state Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

I have the FileZilla Server installed as service on a server that only I have access to. It is set to offline most of the time and only switched online for a specific download task (security reasons).

Several people have access to the Server Interface to be able to switch it online temporarily. It would be ideal if it were possible to set the FTP Server offline at startup of the service, now I have to do this manually (and remember it in particular) after a reboot of the server. Setting the service to start manually wouldn´t help me since I´m the only one with access to the service and the other users rely on the FilZilla Server service to provide them access to the Server Interface.

#2914 Option to auto upload & overwrite on external edit Feature request critical FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I've found it rather useful to use the VIEW/EDIT to download a file I need to edit, make my change then save it in the external editor, then have the client realize a change (Based on time/date/size/whatever) and then request to upload. What I'd like to see added (And its a very simple thing to do) is have it have that dialog to give me the option to allow automatic upload and overwrites the file on a discovery of a change to the file, without my having saying YES or NO every time.

#2928 FileZilla Server.xml file in wiki/FAQ Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Please mention the plain-text version of the properties, FileZilla SErver.xml, in your wiki/FAQ/docs somewhere. I hope to use this file for replicating an installation from one machine to another, and it would be helpful to know whether that file is really the source of properties or not.

If you really want to make a new feature, I was thinking you might want as an Export/Import sort of thing, for people who are not happy with finding an XML file in the install folder, but that is not strictly necessary.

Thanks for listening.

#3808 Bad upload resume Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I use a wireless connection which loses some packets so TCP connections are lost quite often. I've installed FileZilla especially for uploading large files because I've heard it resumes uploads correctly. But sometimes it obviously doesn't.

I uploaded a 31MB zip file and found out that the file on the server is a bit larger than the original file. I've retried several times and the resulting file size is each time different but always a bit greater than the correct one. The original file size is 32735774 B and the resulting file size is e.g. (in the logged case) 32763514 B.

I uploaded also a 13MB file and this was uploaded incorrectly for the first time and correctly for the second time so FZ resumes uploads incorrectly only sometimes.

#4099 Can't link filezilla client binary in HP-UX 11.X after version 3.0.4 Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

In all versions of the FileZilla Client source after 3.0.4 (including the latest at the time of writing, 3.1.6), I have been unable to link the filezilla client binary using HP's C++ compiler in HP-UX 11.X. I have been compiling with "aCC -AA -O -D_HPUX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_EXTENDED_SOURCE" and using wxGTK 2.8.9 - here is the link error:

/usr/ccs/bin/ld: Unsatisfied symbols:

CFileListCtrl<CGenericFileData>::sm_eventTableEntries (first referenced in filezilla-RemoteListView.o) (data) CFileListCtrl<CLocalFileData>::sm_eventTableEntries (first referenced in filezilla-LocalListView.o) (data)

Sadly, I have been able to work out why the link fails (removing optimisation doesn't help, before you ask).

#4140 Drag and drop in server window causes move instead of copy Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When you drag and drop a file or folder(s) on the right side (Server window) from one directory to another, Windows shows a little plus sign next to the mouse arrow -> user expects that the file(s) will be copied. Instead, after releasing the mouse button, a mv command is carried out.

The same behaviour occurs when Shift or Ctrl-key is pressed additionally. Files are always moved, never copied.

#4174 Site Manager dropdown won't scroll on monitor with lower resolution than main monitor Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Simple bug really, possibly a limitation of wxWidgets.

I've noticed that the dropdown scrolls on my main monitor if the list becomes too large for the screen's height, but I have a second monitor with a lower resolution and the dropdown doesn't detect this lower resolution and compensate with the scroller.

If the list isn't big enough to scroll on my main monitor but it is too big for my secondary monitor then the list displays without any scrollers and goes off the bottom of the screen with no way to access the bottom items except by mousing over the bottom or top displayed items and then using the arrow keys and enter to select off-screen ones.

If the list it too big for my main monitor and thus too big for my smaller one, then the scrollers appear, but as before, the bottom scroller is off the screen, and I still have the problem.

I realise that this is something of an edge case, and I can temporarily fix it by reorganising my site manager to have fewer items in each folder, but I just thought I'd put this out there as it's definitely a bug (although as I said, probably a limitation of wxWidgets).

#4248 file replacing in remote server Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

i got my website down cause i made a doubleclick in local file and it transferred blindly to remote server and replaced it

#4420 FileZilla can't acces Directory on Server Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Hello, FileZilla Team (I'm from Switzerland, so my english may be bad) If I connect with FileZila to 213.251.167.117:21 (public server) He gives me a List of four Directories, I can only access the Directory named "1" with clicking on it, my network capture toool told me, that the inaccessible Dirs contain some spaces at the Beginning or the end of the name (and one subdirectory is only named with a space, but by entering / / into the ), by entering the name manually I can access the Directory and the Files in it. As an attachment, I give you the result from my network capturing tool, in the Window you can see the Hex and ASCII output, on the Bottom, again, ASCII (but with line breaks like in Notepad) Hope this Information helps to solve this issue

#4445 SSH to Mainframe Tectia Server Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Hi,

Several issues with using Filezilla using SSH Tectia on the mainframe side.

The edit function on mainframe files does not discern carriage control line feed characters. The directory listings on mainframe files are not available if you list by high level qualifier.

I am comparing your product to WINSCP and WINSCP works correctly.

#4542 z/VM: Failed to parse returned path. Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

After successful login to a z/VM 530 (or higher level) FTP server, no directory listing is obtained. This error occurs regardless of the list format setting of the /VM host (which can be either 'VM' or 'UNIX') or of the client Site Manager "Advanced" tab 'Servertype' setting (both 'z/VM' or 'default (Autodetect)' yield the same failure. A log showing this error follows:

The transfer type is FTP (no SSL/TLS security involved). No 'Default remote directory' is specified with the Site Manager 'Advanced' box.

After having specified such default remote directory as '/tcpmnt04.191', the described error does not occur (and, the leading slash (/) is critical in this regard; in fact, specifying a single '/' as the remote default directory appears to alleviate this problem.

The leading '/' is not part of the z/VM file system structure, and seemingly should not be required to be specified as a remote directory default, especially for the case when 'z/VM' (specifically) is designated as the (remote) servertype.

#4734 High CPU usage while downloading using explicit TLS Bug report high FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

On my 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo iMac I get around 70% CPU usage while downloading files with filezilla from a host using explicit TLS. I am not downloading at very high speed, its a home line (3MB/s max.)

When I am just browing on the server there is no significant CPU usage.

Probably some issue regarding OpenSSL? Thanks!

#4809 SFTP Connection Erratic (Network error: Software caused connection abort) Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Having consistent problems connecting to a host via SFTP using FileZilla. Have had no problems when connecting with the latest PuTTY psftp command line, Core FTP LE, and Ultra Edit (yes, its built-in FTP client). Most of the time FileZilla won't establish a connection at all; I've managed to connect on occasion by simply hammering the remote server with repeated connection attempts and no timeout.

I have tried toggling different servertypes, active/passive, etc. It seems to get hung up trying to execute the key exchange. I've found several references to a similar issue but there was no satisfactory resolution contained therein. I'm not running any firewall software and our hardware router and firewall logs show nothing unusual.

Basically, why would FileZilla fail repeatedly only to finally connect on some random attempt?

Here is the full debug log of the connection attempts showing only the last one to be successful. Please let me know if I can provide any further information.

#4827 FileZilla client does not support SSL 3 or TLS 1.0 Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

FileZilla client 3.2.7.1 sends a client hello specifying support for TLS 1.1 only. This means that servers that only support TLS 1.0 cannot negotiate a connection.

Neither SSL 3.0 or TLS 1.0 is considered seriously insecure at this time, and they are much more widely deployed than TLS 1.1, so they should be supported.

Details:

From the TLS 1.1 RFC:

Appendix E. Backward Compatibility with SSL

For historical reasons and in order to avoid a profligate consumption of reserved port numbers, application protocols that are secured by TLS 1.1, TLS 1.0, SSL 3.0, and SSL 2.0 all frequently share the same connection port. For example, the https protocol (HTTP secured by SSL or TLS) uses port 443 regardless of which security protocol it is using. Thus, some mechanism must be determined to distinguish and negotiate among the various protocols.

TLS versions 1.1 and 1.0, and SSL 3.0 are very similar; thus, supporting both is easy. TLS clients who wish to negotiate with such older servers SHOULD send client hello messages using the SSL 3.0 record format and client hello structure, sending {3, 2} for the version field to note that they support TLS 1.1. If the server supports only TLS 1.0 or SSL 3.0, it will respond with a downrev 3.0 server hello; if it supports TLS 1.1 it will respond with a TLS 1.1 server hello. The negotiation then proceeds as appropriate for the negotiated protocol.

Similarly, a TLS 1.1 server that wishes to interoperate with TLS 1.0 or SSL 3.0 clients SHOULD accept SSL 3.0 client hello messages and respond with a SSL 3.0 server hello if an SSL 3.0 client hello with a version field of {3, 0} is received, denoting that this client does not support TLS. Similarly, if a SSL 3.0 or TLS 1.0 hello with a version field of {3, 1} is received, the server SHOULD respond with a TLS 1.0 hello with a version field of {3, 1}.

#4899 Site Manage Drop Down Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I consider this a bug, but you may consider it a 'feature request'. Here is the break down of what happens.

I have many many sites saved in the Site Manage, when I click the down arrow on the Site Manage icon, I have a list so long that I can't see any of the sites past 't' in the list.

There is an arrow on the top of the list, but not on on the bottom to scroll down the list.

For sites below 't' I have to go into the site manager and click connect.

Not a huge deal, but I would LOVE to see a version update that included this feature/bug fix. As it would make my life a tad bit easier.

#4909 update to 3.2.8.1 doesn't clean up hot-key shortcut Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Small bug, not devastating, but perhaps easy to fix --

I use a desktop icon and hot-key of Ctrl-Shift-Z (I know, odd choice, but I doubt the choice matters for this bug) to start FileZilla. When I updated to 3.2.8.1, the installer over-wrote my desktop icon with a new, clean one.

The new icon lacks the hot-key setting. That's fine, I don't mind setting it up again. But the old hot-key setting is STILL ACTIVE -- sitting in the registry I guess. So there is no easy way to get rid of it. I uninstalled FileZilla altogether, then re-installed. Hot-key remained.

It is possible to open the icon, then Properties, then Shortcut: and type a new shortcut hot-key combination. Then I have two of them. If I try to enter ctrl-sh-Z at that point (for documentation, or because of naively trying to re-establish the hot key setting), then instead, instances of FileZilla keep opening.

#4956 Scroll Bar on Drop-Down of Sites in File Manager Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I have over 100 sites in the file manager and the drop-down menu, which appears when you click the arrow by the site manager icon, descends down past the bottom of my screen. It would be great to have a scroll bar and a smaller drop-down menu.

As it stands to reach one of the lower sites I need to type the first letter until I find it, and it's often hard to see.

Thanks! This is a great program!

#5177 Network shares not working Bug report normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

I have a windows 2003 server that needs to share out some samba network resources, but I cant get it to work. As specified in the 'How to make network shares available using FileZilla Server' forum thread, I have: 1: Changed so that the filezilla service logs on with a user that has access to these resources. I have other services using this user that can access them. 2: Set Filezilla to use UNC-paths instead of mapped drives.

If I share one of these network folders with an alias, the folder doesnt show up at all. If I share one of them as home directory, I get an empty directory listing.

There are no errors in the client or in the server console at all.

#5234 Wrong mouse pointer on drag&drop with serverside folders (move vs. copy) Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Dragging and dropping folders on server from one location to another (but still on the same server) is a "move" operation. But the mouse pointer while dragging is adorned with the "[+]" indicator, suggesting that a copy operation will happen on drop. This is clearly misleading.

Therefore: On drag&drop, the mouse pointer should reflect correctly the type of file operation that is going to be performed on drop: "copy" (mouse pointer with [+] indicator) or "move" (mouse pointer with [<box>] indicator).

#5317 UI Issue: dragging files shows either the wrong mouse icon or carries out wrong action Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Currently dragging a file to a subfolder shows a mouse icon with a "+" symbol next to it and the file is moved - however in explorer this means that the file will be copied to the subfolder

In filezilla (in the remote pane) either the icon is wrong (and it should be a normal mouse icon) or the action is wrong (and the file should be copied not moved)

Minor but hope this helps

#5327 Site Selector Dropdown menu Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

It would be nice to have a site selector dropdown menu, like the Windows version of FileZilla.

#5370 Subversion Icons Feature request low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

It would be awesome if FileZilla could display Subversion (SVN) icons when inside of a local SVN directory. A lot of work we do has us uploading files to a SVN server. When everything functions fine locally we'll upload files which have been marked as updated, then commit to our SVN server. If we could view the icons inside of FileZilla, it would be much nicer than dragging and dropping the highlighted files from Explorer to FileZilla.

TortoiseSVN updates the appearance of icons in Explorer, including save as and open dialog windows. It might be easier to hook into the Explorer API when displaying local icons than to fully integrate an SVN library.

#5569 Filezilla changed most of my icons to their icon Bug report high FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

I could not find any reference to this problem happening to anyone else. I have downloaded the server and the FTP client from

https://www.ohloh.net/p/filezilla/download?filename=FileZilla_Server-0_9_36.exe

It has become difficult to research this thoroughly because every llnk I click on opens up another Filezilla Server window (version Copyright 2001-2010 by Tim Kosse (tim.kosse@…). As I was trying to get the server authenticated, the icons suddenly changed to the Filezilla icon, the one with a red FZ on a white background.

I would have completely shutdown my computer and restarted it, but the icons remained changed. I would appreciate your help with this asap.

Description

Under instructions on the TRAC home page, you have two instructions. Can you add a third? Suggested text: "TRAC is a separate system from the FileZilla Wiki and other FileZilla systems. You must create a TRAC account and be logged in to create a new ticket."

I lost about 45 minutes of my life looking for the 'New Ticket' link. This information might also be included in the Wiki FAQ.

Kudos and thanks. I got my first clue from the IRC channel which you listed in the forum.

#6191 Using WinRAR? Forget FlieZilla, try FireFTP instead (Firefox only). Faraz Choudhry Other normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When trying to Open or View/Edit WinRAR archives from my local h/d and from my remote homespace. I have never had such problems with previous versions of FileZilla, only the latest version. I first get:

Cannot open folder C:\l

...flashing twice and it opens Windows XP's zipper in a seperate window. Then I either get:

DDE execute request failed: a transaction has failed

...or something like: DDE execute request failed: a synchronous execute transaction has timed out

I end up having to drag my remote archives to a seperate Windows Explorer window to use them. Defragging and error-fixing my h/d has not helped. Can this please be fixed before I lose confidence in this program? I'm setting the priority to high, accordingly.

Thank you.

#6533 FileZilla-Server endangers SSL-connections! Bug report normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

After creation of the Security Certificate via FileZilla-Server v0.9.37 beta keeps PRiVATE_KEY into the Security_Certificate! It is wrong and is inadmissible! As a result of creation of the Security Certificate 2 files should be created:

  1. A file containing PRiVATE_KEY, for example 'pgp1.skey'
  2. A file containing SECURiTY_CERTiFiCATE.

(!) Inside of the Security Certificate should NOT be located PRiVATE KEY! SECURiTY CERTiFiCATE is intended for free distribution in Internet and should NOT contain confidential data! PRiVATE KEY should be stored only at the Owner of the Security Certificate.

This dangerous mistake is necessary for correcting URGENTLY since FileZilla Server subjects to the big risk of many users, exchanging confidential data.

I have attached the sample of the CERTIFICATE created by means of FileZilla-Server v0.9.37 beta (inside of a file contains RSA_PRiVATE_KEY).

P.S. As a whole I express gratitude for very useful and convenient program FileZilla FTP Client!

There can be some detection logic which can enable this option if server side supports it.

#7771 Downloading a locked file into a local folder overwriting an existing one, it destroy the local file Nitin Kumar Gautam Feature request low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

There is a local file that must be overwritten with an updated version located on server remote folder. After connected to the server, I double click on the file I want to download. I confirm to overwrite the local file destination. Filezilla try to download the remote file, but it's locked, so the transfer fails but the local file becomes a zero byte file length.

I guess that this issue should be fixed simply checking the remote file availability before to open the local file stream.

#7832 The client toolbar will disappear in win 7 Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

#7839 TCP connections left open in "wait state" can cause IP DoS lockout Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

FileZilla appears to not be closing or reusing existing open TCP connections during download from server, relying instead on the server to time them out and close them on the remote end. For some servers that are not configured to do this within a short enough window, hundreds of TCP connections from the same IP can be manifested in a very short amount of time, often triggering an IP ban from the server (part of a DoS prevention strategy).

While I can see that this decision allows FileZilla to be really fast on downloads with a high volume of files, this does make it completely unusable for some server configurations.

Recommend making this practice optional. Provide a "reuse existing open TCP connections" option under Settings > Transfers to increase compatibility with those server configurations.

#7911 Custom time format results in blank last modified column Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When using the custom time format %H:%M:%S%P, the resulting Last modified column is blank. However, when using custom %H:%M:%S, the correct data/time is listed, without the am/pm.

I haven't tried other custom time settings because the %P option is the only of interest to me.

#8540 Filezilla Client accesses redirected directories instead of real ones Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Try to launch FileZilla Client (without "run as admin") and go to Windows\system32 folder on 64bit system (i.e. Windows 7). List your local files and try to identify aclui.dll. Note the size. Launch cmd.exe as admin and try to dir \windows\system32\aclui.dll. Compare sizes of your files. Now try to dir \windows\syswow64\aclui.dll As you can see Filezilla tells that displays data from system32 and in fact displays the content of syswow64. The application should be 64bit aware and use real folders without redirection. Look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa384187(v=vs.85).aspx for additional info.

#8595 UTF-16 line endings get corrupted by uploading and downloading Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I uploaded a UTF-16 text file with the following content:

FF FE 48 00 65 00 6C 00 6C 00 6F 00 0D 00 0A 00 57 00 6F 00 72 00 6C 00 64 00

Note the correct BOM for UTF-16 little endian and that every second byte in the text is set to zero.

After downloading it again the content changes like this:

FF FE 48 00 65 00 6C 00 6C 00 6F 00 0D 00 0D 0A 00 57 00 6F 00 72 00 6C 00 64 00

FileZilla transmits the file in text mode and because of that the UTF-16 line ending chars get corrupted to 8 bit ASCII line endings. In this case only 0A 00 got corrupted to 0D 0A 00, because of Windows -> Unix -> Windows.

The file is now 1 byte longer (an odd byte count for UTF-16 files is already invalid) and the content is broken.

Uploading in binary mode avoids this problem, so I suggest that FileZilla detects UTF-16 using BOM or line endings in 0D 00 0A 00 format and uses binary mode for these files by default to avoid corruption.

#8674 Slow loading times for disconnected network drives on Windows Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

My system configuration has multiple mapped network drives, where one state connects to a few network shares at the office, and another state connects to a few network shares at home, but there will always be disconnected network drives.

Because of this (determined by removing the shares) FileZilla takes about 1-2 minutes to load. I think this means there needs to be an option to ignore checking network drives/determine earlier if they are not available so this can be fixed as I'm sure that other people will have experienced similar issues.

#8697 Beginning and trailing spaces are trimmed from directory names on remote folders Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

If a directory name on a remote server begins or ends with a space, FileZilla appears to trim the space(s) and the user is unable to work with the directory (list contents, rename, etc.)

I have tested and was able to reproduce on Windows, OS X and CentOS 6.4.

To reproduce, create a folder with a name that starts with or ends with a space. Attempt to list the contents of this folder from FileZilla.

The log window reads:

Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: CWD / Response: 250 Directory successfully changed. Command: CWD Testing with Space Response: 550 Failed to change directory. Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

#8717 Space as first character in file name Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Filezilla does not seem to be able to handle a file on a remote FTP site that starts with a space as the first character. It displays the file in the listing with the space trimmed off, however any operations (download, delete, rename) fail due to it sending the command with the trimmed version of the filename.

#8814 Support for Microsoft Firewall "TMG" (was ISA Server before) Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Hi It was impossible to use FileZilla Client behind a Microsoft Firewall (TMG, Threat Management Gateway, successor of ISA Firewall) with default FTP settings.

They allow only specific "Read" FTP commands and filter the others. So "MSLD" ("List Directory") produced "550 Access denied". A FTP session was not possible.

Interestingly "FtpExplorer" could list the directory but failed later by creating a directory on the remote server.

Here is a link to a MS blog describing exactly the problem I had and with a list of commands they block/allow. http://blogs.technet.com/b/isablog/archive/2013/03/05/access-to-remote-ftp-server-through-tmg-2010-may-fail-with-error-550-access-denied.aspx

Would be very cool if FileZilla could use the "right" commands as client so it just works without the need to convince a paranoid admin to change the TMG settings "Hey, these settings are ok, they are from MS, you know! And what shi OpenSource you dare to use!!!". You perhaps know the tone...Well, perhaps the Microsoft settings are f*&% up. This may be the case.

Would be great if it is possible to change Filezilla commands.

At last: Thanks a lot for FileZilla. best regards Ben

#8849 No Connection when connecting through a Win7-PC with "share internet connection" Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Internet= [Cisco WLan-distribution-system (EAP)] =WLAN= [Win7-GW-PC] =LAN= [Internal-LAN; Work-PC(Win7)]...

Appartmenthouse-Installation with Cisco-Routers, authentication: Enterprise-AES-EAP

The Win7-GW-PC connects to the Cisco-Router through WLAN and is configured to share the internet-connection of the WLAN-interface through a second (LAN-) interface to the internal LAN

A PC connected to this LAN can do everything, even DL via Firefox-Browser like: "ftp://userid:pw@filezilla-server-address.net"

No connection can be established to the same filezilla-server using the filezilla-client. It stalls at the "211-Features" response:

(Using filezilla-client on the [Win7-GW-PC] itself works fine.)

Hint: After setting debug-mode to 3 for testing and a restarting the filezilla-client just one time the directory was displayed correctly, but that could not be reproduced yet. This might have been a coincidence but leads me to the assumption that timing might be an issue here.

#9077 Sort LIST output Feature request normal FileZilla Server wontfix
Description

Output from the LIST command is not sorted. I think the assumption is that the FTP client will sort it if necessary. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. We're trying to use it with old numerical controllers on the factory floor that do not sort the output. Makes it very difficult to find your NC program file in a long listing.

It'd be nice if the FileZilla Server had an option to sort the LIST output before sending it to the client. The option could be on for any FTP connection, by group or by user.

#9302 Filezilla damages the binary file it transfers when the file has no extension Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I am trying to transfer the binary file from the remote server to my local directory by dragging and dropping it.

The original file has size 1,855,488 bytes, the resulting file has size 1,855,392, as also reported by filezilla itself.

The file is the binary SQLite database.

The transfer log: Status: Starting download of /public_html/xxx/includes/xxx Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (198,46,81,146,124,133) Command: RETR webcal Response: 150-Accepted data connection Response: 150 1812.0 kbytes to download Response: 226-File successfully transferred Response: 226 2.623 seconds (measured here), 0.68 Mbytes per second Status: File transfer successful, transferred 1,858,120 bytes in 3 seconds Status: Disconnected from server

File is always transferred with the same discrepancy (subsequent attempts produce the same wrong version). The file in question didn't have any extension (no periods in its name). There is 'Default transfer type' option in 'Settings' which was set to 'Auto'. When I selected 'Binary' there, the discrepancy disappeared.

Another, smaller, SQLite database (290,816 bytes) was transferred correctly. It had a period in its name, but no recognizable extension.

So I believe that filezilla wrongfully defaults the type of file without extension to 'Ascii'. When the type of file isn't known, and 'Auto' is selected, it should default to 'Binary'.

#9337 Transfer not retried after code 530 Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Windows, version 3.7.4.1. Imagine I attempt to transfer/upload 20 files to my FTP site (not FileZila server). My FTP server supports 10 connections. I set the transfer to support 10 connections. Sometimes, the server fails with code 530 (see log below).

Bug is, when that happens, it doesn't attempt to re-try file upload.

I have attached a log file. In is it the initial attempt to upload the files. Then, there are 2x more attempts to upload the files that didn't initially transfer.

I understand that the retry logic is tricky. However, the minimum it should do is -- at the end of the transfer, it could show a dialog saying something like "7 of 20 files failed to transfer".

Keep up the good work!

#9544 Deleting directories with more than XXXX files Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Current implementation of recursive directories delete does not allow for over-populated directories (i.e. directories containing more files than the server's listing output limit).

Proposed solution: implement a 'thorough delete' right-click command on directories which would: 1) execute a delete as currently implemented 2) check whether rmdir command was successful 3) if not, go back to step 1

#9555 FileZilla Closes Abruptly, If not updated Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I am Using Windows XP SP3 & my FileZilla Client Version is 3.8.0.

Today I opened my Filezilla to access my FTP Site & received an update for version 3.8.1, and I clicked 'Install New Version'

The FileZilla got closed abruplty, i lost my FTP Connection and instead it showed a dialog-box saying 'Unsupported operating system Filezilla requires atleast Windows Vista and may not work correctly on your system. Do you really want to continue with the installation?' I pressed 'No', and found that FileZilla was still Closed.

I understand that my OS(Windows XP) is not supported by the update, but Filezilla should not close abruptly, irrespective of whether I chose to Update it or not Update it.

#9707 allow removing of individual items from Quick Connect Bar Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix

It would save a lot of time for users if it were possible to remove individual entries from the Quickconnect bar. Right now the only option is to clear the entire bar, and then reenter each server's information, a tedious and (should be) uneccessary procedure. I have old, unused servers still in there because it's such a hassle to reenter them after clearing the Quickconnect bar. Please consider this.

Description

I have a very large file -- 320+MB -- and when I upload it to our FTP Side, after about 30-45 minutes, it ALWAYS ends on the Failed Transfers list with the reason "could not start transfer."

This error is (a) obviously erroneous as it just uploaded the file. I can verify this by first deleting the version on the site and then uploading a new version. When it's done uploading the new version is there; and (b) it didn't actually fail because if I download the file (which is a signed exe) it passes all integrity checks and its signature is still intact which it wouldn't be if it had failed.

I have a lot of sites on my site manager and it would be great if when you clicked the down arrow on the right of the main site manager button within the main filezilla window, that if the number of sites exceeds the window height, a mouse scroll would bring that list down, rather than having to click the down and up arrows to move up and down the list.

#10446 S3FS Linked Directory No Longer Accessible in FileZilla Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

The latest version of FileZilla does not allow access to my "uploads" directory on Ubuntu, this worked in all previous versions:

drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Dec 31 1969 uploads

s3fs on /mnt/vol/www/uploads type fuse.s3fs (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other)

FileZilla displays the directory as:

"Dec 31 1969 uploads" and returns:

Error: Directory /mnt/vol/www/Dec 31 1969 uploads: no such file or directory Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

when trying to access via the GUI.

#10650 Alphabetical order of files is not honored when queuing Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When adding a dirtree to the download queue, filezilla does not honor the alpha order of the file names when I believe that it should or at least offer an option to do so.

One can reproduce this very easily: On the server from which to download, do:

mkdir test cd test for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; do touch $i; done

Now connect to the server with filezilla and drag the "test" folder into the download queue and begin downloading. The order is not: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

For me, the order was: 6 1 2 4 8 5 3 9 7

#10658 Drag and Drop to Multi Commander fails Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Can't drag file from FileZilla remote location into Multi Commander window, on the MC side I'm prompted with copy dialogue and on FZ with following message (After I click copy in MC):

Message

Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window.

#10689 Filezilla IPv6 timeout on LIST Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Hello,

I am using Filezilla 3.14.1 x64 on Windows connects to my FTP server running vsftpd 3.0.2 with implicit FTPS.

The connection works totally fine over IPv4, but when connecting via IPv6, Filezilla will stuck at the LIST command until timeout, while the server log does not prompt anything wrong. I switched to FlashFXP and tested with IPv6 connection and it works fine. I guess it's a bug in Filezilla.

Thanks.

#10758 Remote Drag-Move shows (+) "copy" icon above cursor Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

On OSX, when I click and drag a file between folders on the same remote server, the green plus sign icon appears above the cursor.

In the OSX vernacular, this suggests that the file will be copied, i.e. a copy of the file will remain in the source location. For example, in Finder, when moving files between local folders, clicking and dragging moves a file, whereas pressing the option key while clicking and dragging causes the green plus sign icon to appear and a copy of the file will be moved to the new location, leaving the original file in the original location.

Instead of copying the file as the green plus sign suggests, clicking and dragging causes FileZilla to move the file and not retain it in the original location.

This could lead users to believe that they have copied a file when in fact they have moved it.

Therefore, this copy icon should not appear.

#10806 Filezilla gives critical messages in the console while starting: IA__gtk_widget_set_size_request Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I have downloaded FileZilla because I haven't found in in the repositories (3.16.1). While starting from the console, I get the following lines, but in the GUI, I don't see an error:

markus@linux-vrvl:~/Downloads/FileZilla3/bin> ./filezilla

(filezilla:7978): Gtk-WARNING : Theme directory of theme oxygen has no size field

(filezilla:7978): Gtk-CRITICAL : IAgtk_widget_set_size_request: assertion 'height >= -1' failed

(filezilla:7978): Gtk-CRITICAL : IAgtk_widget_set_size_request: assertion 'width >= -1' failed

I have seen, that there is only one bug open with similiar behavier, but in an other context: https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/9927

I have downloaded the package (FileZilla_3.16.1_x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.bz2 from sourceforge). Then I have unzipped it and started the binary as normal user in a subfolder of my homedirectory.

The package is linked against wxWidgets 3.0.3 and I'm using KDE Plasma 5.5.5

#10813 Updating to latest version trashed FZ installation Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Win 7 Pro. A few minutes ago, I clicked the "New version available" button from within FZ and followed the prompts. Things progressed in an orderly way until the prompt that told me a FileZilla exe was still running and that all running FZ apps should be exited before updating. There was no *visible* FZ exe running at that point, and I'm sorry to say (as I had had no trouble with preceding updates initiated AT START-UP of FZ and hence wasn't paying much attention to the update process) I don't recall what the choices were, but whatever I chose has resulted in my entire FZ installation being deleted except for the exe file (dated 2/29/16).

So this method of updating (from the BUTTON) appears to not kill the running FZ.

No back-up, my fault.

#10827 can't click "quick connect" and choose the options Bug report normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

When I stick the Filezilla window to the edge of the screen, I can't click "quick connect" and choose the options. See the screenshot. http://s011.radikal.ru/i317/1604/d2/d39f3bdc9122.png

#10828 GUI not showing ssh keys in the openssh format Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I try to select a key in .ssh from the GUI seen below, but the private key file and host file don't show up. I can work around this by either drag and dropping the key from nautilus to the filezilla GUI or just writing the path of the key. But it would be still nice to just see the keys. Yes hidden files are enabled and yes I selected the tab all files.

#10857 Percent encoding appears in FTP session tab label Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

If the user name for a session includes an @ symbol, e.g. matt@foobar, the FTP session tab is labeled as matt%40foobar@…. The same thing happens in the list for the pulldown to the right of the Quickconnect button. I don't remember this percent-encoding, i.e. %40 = @ being used until what must have been a fairly recent version. I'd prefer to see matt@foobar@… even if that means showing two @ symbols. I'm attaching a partial screenshot of an FTP session tab where domain name is partly blacked out.

#10876 Connections Button Drop-Down Menu Feature request normal FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I use FileZilla on Windows as well and I really like the connections drop-down menu from the toolbar button. I love that FileZilla works on Mac, however, it would be nice to have that drop-down menu on the toolbar for connections to quickly connect to various servers.
