#11313 Site Manager Settings gets reverted to old settings Bug report high FileZilla Client worksforme

#11315 Cannot delete on server side? Other high FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I'm a new FileZilla user using Mac OSX 10.12.5. FileZilla successfully logged onto my hosting server. Now trying to delete some server-side files. Not finding the functionality/workflow to do that. Web hosting provider could not help me either. Would you please point me to the procedure for this.

Alternative, brute-force procedure is cumbersome and potentially dangerous: GET the whole site, selectively delete files/folders locally, PUT the entire site to a new server folder, then ask host to delete the old one on their end.

Thanks in advance.

#11317 Folder handling during S3 download is not correct Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

When using Filezilla Pro Client and downloading from Amazon S3 storage, handling of folders seems wrong.

If you select a folder on the remote size and then try to download it, behavior is inconsistent:

  1. If the folder already exists on the local side, the files are transferred into that folder as expected.
  1. If the folder does not exist on the local side, the download fails for each file because the folder path does not exist.

In case 2, I believe expected behavior is for FileZilla to create the missing folder and proceed. This would be consistent with its behavior for FTP sources.

#11318 Multi-Threaded or multi-connection uploads/downloads Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I really wish FileZilla would support multi-threaded uploads and downloads as some other FTP applications do. Since some sites throtle FTP bandwidth per connection, you can improve session speed by transferring multiple items at once (4 is a good balanced number). If however you only have one large item, throtteled connection speed makes the process long and frustrating, especially if there is a connection timeout limitation on the server.

Please consider this option in future FileZilla releases.

#11319 MinGW Runtime Assertion if wrong protocol is in servername Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

If you put the wrong protocol in the field of the server FileZilla shows a MinGW error and closes if you click on cancel. On ignore the right error message appears.

#11320 Cannot open 'SD Card' directory by double-clicking Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Attempting to open the directory 'SD Card' on an Andriod Marshmallow FTP server fails : Commande : CWD / Réponse : 250 CWD successful Commande : PWD Réponse : 257 "/" Commande : CWD SD Card Réponse : 550 Can't CWD to invalid directory

Typing 'SD Card' in the 'Remote site' edit box and hitting return works fine and changes to the directory SD Card.

#11321 Crash when specifying unsupported protocol Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I'm using the standard FileZilla binary version 3.26.2

(Compiled for/on x86_64-apple-darwin16.5.0 on 2017-06-12) (Compiler: Apple LLVM 8.1.0 clang-802.0.42) (Flags -Werror=partial-availability -Wall -g -std=gnu++14) (Linked against wxWidgets 3.0.4, GnuTLS 3.5.13, SQLite 3.19.3)

How to reproduce:

  1. Start FileZilla
  2. Enter "smb://" in Server
  3. Press Enter

The problem lies in "FileZilla3/src/engine/server.cpp, line 245", in "SetProtocol". The client asserts that the protocol isn't UNKNOWN, but in fact it is.

Anyway, here's the complete log.

#11332 Let me choose which program to use to view/edit Feature request normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I know I can assign a specific program to a specific file extension... But my problem is, sometimes I just want to edit one line of code, so I'd like to edit it with Notepad++ But another time I'd like to work on a bigger project and I would like to edit many files with, let's say PHPstorm... So I'd like to have a dialog which asks me with which program I'd like to open/edit the file.

Maybe a bit similar to this request https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/3696.

#11335 Cannot connect to server. Also did the update and still cannot connect to server. Bug report high FileZilla Server worksforme
Description

I accepted the update for the FileZilla program and now I cannot login. It does not ask for username anymore. I had my coworker try to connect and she did not accept the update, but she could not connect to the server either.

I must login quickly to retrieve a file. I also had my IT team remove the program and re-install it. Still not able to connect. I am confident I know my login credentials, too.

#11336 Missing ../storj/events.hpp file fails compilation Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I am trying to compile FileZilla with Storj support from sources.

The ../configure --enable-storj=yes command is successful, but then make fails with the following error:

In file included from ../../../src/engine/storj/connect.cpp:4:0: ../../../src/engine/storj/event.h:4:31: fatal error: ../storj/events.hpp: No such file or directory #include "../storj/events.hpp"

There is no "events.hpp" file in the FileZilla_3.27.0.1_src.tar.bz2 source package. However, I found it in the SVN repo. After copying it manually, the build is successful.

Please, make sure that the "events.hpp" file is included in the source package.

#11340 Web browser style download links and Manual transfers Feature request normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Sometimes you get ftp download links that are formatted in such a way that they contain username and passwords in the downloadlink. such as: "ftp://username:password@WEB.URL/RemoteFolder/RemoteFileName" When you copy/paste this link in your browser the download will simply start.

If you extract the required informations from the link (site; remote folder; username; password and filename) and use the 'Manual Transfer (Ctrl+M)' function of filezilla then it doesn't work.

It looks like this is because filezilla always tries to get a directory listing and possibly some other information, which the remote server refuses.

Would it be possible to add a feature that does simply start downloading without any other actions that could be blocked by the remote server? Or a check box in the manual download to disable asking for remote listings. Alternatively a url bar in the manual download dialog into which the user can paste the URL and filezilla automatically extract the information and starts the download.

#11344 Queue completion action: Make close a one-time action Feature request low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I often have a large download or upload from my web site and have to go somewhere. I then right click the download and responding to (Action after completion) select (close file zilla) when completed.

Then when I open filezilla again and try to use it, the app appears not to open. I.e. it keeps closing down the application.

I suggest that you give an option to allow file zilla to close only once until next opening of the app. I.e. reset it to keep the settings it had before the user selected to have it close down automatically.

This way, after opening up again, it will not keep closing down all the time.

Kind regards

Mark

#11349 Feature request Feature request normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Hi Guys,

Thank you for this amazing software.

I have 2 new features that I believe will be very useful:

1 connect the filzilla client to A google account so that the server XML list can be backed up to the drive, and will auto sync when a new server is added or a server details are updated.

2 Share details with another user. A user will be able to share 1 or many or all server details with another user by a quick export import system that uses email or any other data sharing software.

I hope you guys like the idea's I am a user with a few computers, and move around, and I feel that these days, these 2 features will help many people.

Hi, FZ version 3.27.0.1 I enter a custom command "site tracks pri=300 sec=30" to overwrite the z/OS default size allocation but the site tracks pri=300 sec=30 is not taken. The Z/OS file get allocate to the z/os default size of 15 tracks which is not enough to hold the PC file (11.7MB). once the z/os file get full then FZ start looping

I know the error 451-System completion code and reason: B37-04 is because the z/os file is full. my problem is "why FZ did not take the custom command?" Site tracks pri=300 sec=30 when I get the response of accepted.

I you need other details, let me know. Regards. ...jy

#11353 MalwareBytes vs FileZilla? Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

8/1/2017 Getting annoyed with FileZilla, using version 3.24.1 and they keep saying that 3.27.0.1 is available for installation (already downloaded for me). I hit install, and relaunch, and use. When I exit I receive this: ERROR SAVING QUEUE An error occurred saving the transfer queue to C:\Users\steve_000\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.sqlite3 Some queue items might not have been saved. OK button When I re-initialize program I get same error, this time it is ERROR LOADING QUEUE, same path and file ending in sqlite.3 except last error line changes to Some queue items might not have been restored. OK button Proceed to exit program so that 3.27.0.1 can install, which it seems to do. I go online, xfer files, and exit. Next time I open I get the ERROR message above with last word=restored. OK button

Next day, apparently 3.27.0.1 did not install previously, because I am prompted again to re-install it. I've reinstalled thru this loop 4x now. Enough already! Tried download from Filezilla-project.org; 64bit Windows I do not want Web Companion Pro, so I select "No, don't protect me" I have 5 components to select, bottom 4 are selected and I cannot select top box which is FileZilla Client? I install to C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client Seems to install. Get to Setup Complete page, and I Click finish, and "start FileZilla Now" Program opens, I go to my webhost and upload a file. Seems to work. CTRL-Q exits okay.

Next day, start all over!

#11355 Product Site's Bundled Installer download file has Adware.OSX.Spigot virus Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I had updated FileZilla when it was released on 19 July but it was through the Update Check within the running FileZilla. No virus was flagged with that installer. Yesterday (August 3) I downloaded FileZilla again to be sure I had the latest version and my virus checker identified the installer as having a virus in it.

This time, I downloaded the file from the FileZilla website. I didn't expect to get a virus from the product website. My virus checker, ClamXAV, flagged this installer as having a virus. The two installers must have come from a different source. The installer from https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client, was flagged by ClamXAV as: File Name Infection Name Status /Users/cinzia/Downloads/FileZilla_3.27.0.1_macosx-x86_setup_bundled.zip Adware.OSX.Spigot Status: I trashed that installer. The file that downloaded was https://download.filezilla-project.org/client/FileZilla_3.27.0.1_macosx-x86_setup_bundled.zip. The page had a line just below the download link: "This installer may include bundled offers." This can be acceptable but not if it includes a virus in it also.

Next, I tried downloading the installer from SourceForge at https://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/files/ and got a clean installer: Download FileZilla_3.17.0.1_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2 (7.6 MB). It was not flagged as having a virus.

Whether the installer has a virus or not depends on the source of the downloaded file. Clean installers are from within the running FileZilla Update and from SourceForge. The FileZilla product website provides an installer with a virus. That needs to be cleaned up or point people to other download sites for the OS X system that don't provide an installer with the virus. There was a link on the page for More Options but they were for different operating systems.

#11357 FileZilla 3.27.0.1 unable to connect to RHEL 7.4. Able to connect with other SFTP clients including command line Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

My web server was recently updated from RHEL 7.3 to 7.4. After this regular server OS update I am unable to log in with Filezilla 3.27.0.1.

I use passwordless login to connect over SSH and this was working fine (in FileZilla) until the server OS update last night. None of the server SSH config files were modified as part of the OS update (based on file creation/modified dates).

I am able to connect to the server via the command line sftp client. I'm also able to connect with at least two other SFTP guis (Caja and gFTP).

#11366 Snap or Flatpack? Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Dear Maintainers, it seems that every distribution is far behind your actual release, which contains the storj.io-prot.

Can you please consider to create a snap or flatpack? that would give the biggest part of linux-community (OSX as well?) instant access to your releases and they would work, independent from the distro(-flaws). … …

IMHO, I would prefer a snap over flatpack, because they have a centralized store and I can search and install from *all* available snaps with one cmd from the cli: "snap find filezilla && snap install filezilla", then i can just run filezilla by it's name, without any complicated run cmds. Auto-update included!

In opposite, flatpacks are cluttered over the whole internet, and hard to find, need extra cmd-syntax to start, etc. by far not so convenient, but hey, I would not complain ;), but may be others, not so CLI-proofed users. autoupdate only if I add every special repository (if there is one), ending up in the need to maintain a repository-list on all machines… Just another sysops nightmare.

Thanks for considering TIA guenter

#11374 Unable to force FileZilla to use insecure plain FTP in QuickConnect toolbar Bug report high FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I'm using FileZilla since Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - here it was 3.5.3. Now I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - it has 3.15.0.2.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install FTP server which support both connections types - plain FTP and FTPES.
  2. Try to connect in both modes from FileZilla:

2.a. write ftp://server in Host field to connect with plain insecure FTP in QuickConnect toolbar 2.b. write ftpes://server in Host field to connect with explicit FTP over TLS in QuickConnect

Expected results:

  • Previous version (3.5.3 in my case) reacts on user input as expected. It connects as FTP when FTP was requested (ftp://server in Host field) and as FTPES when FTPES was requested (ftpes://server in Host field).

Actual results:

  • Modern FileZilla uses TLS even if user requested plain FTP in QuickConnect field.

I understand that you care about user privacy, but please make FileZilla respect user configuration. User may want to use plain FTP from QuickConnect bar, not from SiteManager.

#11375 Owner and Group fields showing number/ID, not name Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

This is something I noticed this week, so I suspect it's related to the latest release: 3.27.1.

Basically, file lists show numbers/IDs for the owner and group of files, instead of showing their respective names. This is not specific to one hosting platform and a test with another FTP client shows the correct behaviour.

The only exception is WP Engine, which shows user names.

I wanted to split a remote file V.htm into two, V1.htm and V2.htm, and then replace the original V.htm with "See V1.htm and V2.htm". That meant opening local V twice (in NotePad), to edit into V1 and V2, and then creating a new local V. V1 and V2 uploaded to remote just fine, but my attempt to upload new V went badly wrong. Even though FileZilla reported the transfer of V as going okay (several times) and showed remote V as exactly the same as local new V, my website resolutely delivered old V to all comers. Something had got stuck in a local FileZilla buffer or cache, presumably due to my folly. Sorting that out required a huge hassle of hunting for file copies, deleting, using different names, rebooting etc.

#11380 autoban after configurable number of bad commands (command unrecognized) Feature request normal FileZilla Server rejected
Description

There are hackers trying to get into my FileZilla server by entering bad command after bad command. I've attached an example from my FZ server log below. A good feature would be the ability to log out and autoban the IP address after a certain number of failed commands. First I believe this would be a good security feature. Second, this would lower the load on the server while legitimate activity was ongoing.

#11381 Version 3.27.1 Fails many File Uploads - says 1K file is 822,202 bytes and Timeouts. Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I am using the latest version of Filezilla - downloaded last night I have a problem updating WordPress to 4.8.1 I'm using Filezilla to upload the unzipped folders & etc. In the 'includes' folder, I find about 1/2 way through, I get transfer lockups that last 20 seconds, causing the agent to drop out and then automatically log back in. The file size of the locked up files is always 822,202 bytes. (attached example is only 1Kb - so the error is in either the latest Filezilla, or in my Server VPC FTP. I sent this report to my Server and he says no issue their end) I shows a 'failed file transfer' and it looks to me like those files don't upload. Is it me or is there an issue? I logged as admin at my blog www.chrisdcorran.com and that was OK I went to the Site and it was OK. I'm worried I am corrupting about 1 in four files... Files are attached:

#11386 FileZilla crashes, when trying to edit the password field while adding a new server in the server settings Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Filezilla: 3.27.1 openSUSE Tumbleweed 20170830, Kernel 4.11.8 Settings: Using Masterpassword

I am not sure, if the version-upgrade or using a master-password is the last relevant change I made, since filezilla crashes.

Steps to reproduce (everytime):

  • Open Server-Manager
  • Add new server
  • change the auth-type to "Normal"
  • Try to edit/paste the password field

=> filezilla crashes

#11388 I suspect fz uses a case-sensitive domain. domain RFC uses case insensitivity for domain Bug report normal libfilezilla invalid
Description

I suspect fz uses a case-sensitive domain. domain RFC uses case insensitivity for domain. I have been unable to login with fz for about 1 month. hosting company says everything OK. please check RFC and act accordingly. there are multiple domain RFC's and one of them is considered more up-to-date.

try this with a web browser for proof (protocol is case-sensitive): FILEZILLA-PROJECT.ORG

username@… - what does the FTP spec say as to case insensitivity or case-sensitivity for the domain part?

also, why is fz compiled with -g (debug symbols)? -s -O2 would speed up the code.

if it's of any interest, FileZilla Client

#11399 Just enable 'Use a different logfile each day Bug report low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I have spent too much time looking for a way to name the log file produced by filezilla using month, day, year, time. How is this done? According to Filezilla's documentation, it says I need to look for: Just enable 'Use a different logfile each day

per this site:

https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Server_logs

I looked for the Use a different logfile each day in the settings and it doesn't exist. Using filzilla version 3.27.1

I tried changing the file name using this info on a Win10 system client, but it doesn't work. ( https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Date_and_Time_formatting )

My goal is to have the log file named by month, day, year, time. How is that done?

Hello,

#1. I have seeing that some files are not getting transferred to point B from A, but the failure is not written in the filzilla log. There is no mention of the fact the transfer never happened.

#2. Some of the files being transferred are being "renamed" by filzilla. For example, if I have a filed named, audience.jpg. when Filzilla transfer to from a server to a server, it changes the name to Audience.jpg. How do I stop it from doing that?

#11401 Filzilla log does not show me files that don't transfer Bug report low FileZilla Client invalid
Description

I am finding that files are not copied from one server to another. I would have never know that files were missing in the transfer if I didn't run setfacl on the files transferred. Setfacl uses a list generated from getfacl on prod as input. This input list is use to compare against what is transferred so permissions can be set.

What doesn't filzilla show me the files/directories that don't get transferred for whatever reason?

With the latest version of Raspbian Stretch (September 2017), I'm unable to SFTP to or from it when running the Mac client. It seems fine with other FTP packages, and it's fine on the Windows client run on the same MacBook's virtual Windows machine.

The authentication log at /var/log/auth.log on the Raspberry Pi recorded this:

This problem didn't seem to occur with the previous version of Raspbian Stretch (August 2017). And, as I said, it doesn't seem to affect the Windows client.

#11409 Close FileZille Once not working Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Hi I asked for a new feature which I understand you had included in the new release I downloaded today. I.e. when updating a large file / files I wanted fZ to close itself afterwards automatically. However after setting this option FZ kept closing itself. The new feature would allow FZ to be set to CLOSE ONCE only.

I tried it out now and could not activate any of the options in the drop down menue. I.e. only NONE works.

Small bug I am sure.

Hopefully this will be fixed asap as this new feature is GREAT and will be used by me and others a lot.

#11410 Version 3.28.0 fails on Ubuntu 16.04 with libpng16.so.16 Other low FileZilla Client rejected

As libstdc versions 5 and 6 are already installed, I don't know how to proceed. In the meantime, I have fallen back to version 3.27.1.

Thank you.

All of current technologies that provide File Transfer Protocol re upload whole updated and edited file(s) even if the file changes by a minimum of one byte. This is not sufficient in term of upload time, bandwidth usage and logic. While this can be solved and proposed a solution to the stated scenario. By enabling the FTP client and FTP server to treat only the differences between local files and remote files. Thus for this will amazingly reduce FTP transfer time and speed up the process.

Hi, Love fielzilla, amazing peace of software and so fast!

I have two ideas: A) in this scenario:

When a single user working on a file (Lets assume a PHP file). Some times we amend a minor changes. Lets say we forgot a semi coma somewhere. Normally we re-upload the whole file.

Lets say the file size is so big (1 MB) (Just assumption)

Is there a way to upload the changes only?

i.e. the difference between two files in local machine and remote server is just one character. So is it possible somehow to add a new feature to the client and server to understand this changes.

I can't propose a mechanism to achieve this feature; its only an idea that comes to my mind and personally it makes sense. But don't know much about possible technology implementation.

If this if to be implemented; I think needs changes to client application and server application to adapt.

I am not sure if this is valid; but I guess this needs artificial inelegance technology.

If to be implemented; this will amazingly reduce ftp traffic for single user having lots of files of type of PHP in our example.

Can't be sure this would work for binary files; but at least can you consider my idea for ASCI files?

B) In normal routine, when I need to upload a big number of different files. I zip them into one and single archive.

Upload to server. Then from the server panel, I unzip.

This so much reduce upload time.

So, technically; is it possible to let ftp client zip files before upload, then at server side, the ftp server will unzip in the same folder structure.

Do you think this could be two good ideas?

Do you think this (if valid) would reduce the whole internet ftp traffic; said that I guess 1000s or more developers using ftp daily to upload data?

Your feedback and input in my ideas so much appreciated.

Thank you so much

Regards

Note: Dose this trac have voting system for the ideas? Can't find it?

#11447 Apply remote directory filters remotely (on read) Feature request normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

It appears that file and directory filters placed on the remote directory are applied locally, after all files are read from the remote directory. For the sake of performance with certain operations on large directories, it would be helpful to be able to apply these filters remotely.

To be more precise, it appears that current functionality executes an "ls" command, and then filters the results. It would be nice to have a way of executing a command like "ls filter*" or "ls *filter".

I'd be happy to help with testing this modification. Might even be able to assist with implementation.

#11455 Not password prompt for first time setup using Interactive Bug report low FileZilla Client invalid
#11457 Wrong "request-id" in SSH packet when sending over SFTP Feature request high FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

SFTP server: Solarwinds Serv-U 15.1.5.10. Client: FileZilla 3.29.0

FileZilla sends a constant "request-id" in each packet. According to RFC https://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-13.txt:

'request-id'

Each request from the client contains a 'request-id' field. Each response from the server includes that same 'request-id' from the request that the server is responding to. One possible implementation is for the client to us a monotonically increasing request sequence number (modulo 232). There is, however, no particular requirement the 'request-id' fields be unique.

The server shows 'request-id' in braces. Example line as follows: [30] Fri 24Nov17 09:04:58 - (000015) {0x00000100} SSH_FXP_REALPATH: path: "."

'request-id' is 0x00000100 in this packet. Replay should contains the same number.

The problem is that FileZilla always sends the same 'request-id'. It makes the log analysis very difficult especially that according to the standard, the SFTP commands don't have to be send in the same sequence. I have tried other client software and this behaviour is present only when using FileZilla client.

Attaching: FileZillaLog.txt: Log from the client, level 4 ServerLog - ClientFileZilla.txt: Full logs of FileZilla's session from the server ServerLog - ClientWinSCP.txt: Full logs of WinSCP's session from the server as reference of a good session.

I'm not considering this behaviour as a bug since standard says it is not a mandatory to have an unique id, however it is very important feature request for troubleshooting purposes.
