Just updated to 3.22.0 and fz client opens as usual but when I try to connect I get this message: "fzsftp quit unexpectedly." and connection fails.

It worked perfectly before.

Recently I tried to make use of the sftp feature of FileZilla. But I realized that nor the method

• of adding the privat key to FileZilla
• using the SSH_AUTH_SOCK

worked for me.

I don't know why SSH_AUTH_SOCK is not working. But I guess the problem with adding the id_ed25519 key has to do with the fact, that the file format for encrypted private key has chaned.

The old format seems to be:

The new one misses the header that says that the following is encrypted.

So my feature request is to support the new key format that FileZilla is using here.

I just updated to Version 3.22 and tried to connect to one of my servers via sftp. but the connection couldn't be established. I can't connect to any of my servers.

After downgrade to 3.21 everything worked fine. So it's definitely a bug in new version 3.22.

I have Linux servers at work, and periodically I need to sftp files off or on. I updated my version from 3.21 to 3.22, and attempted to connect, but it kept failing. I reverted back to v 3.21 and I was able to connect.

My working machine is a MacBook Air, running Mac OS X 10.11.6.

The Linux version is RHEL 5. Please let me know if you need any more information.

in CProxySocket, it set m_user/m_pass from UTF-8 via fz::to_utf8(). but GetUser() and GetPass() only convert it from std::string to std::wstring, it might get wrong string for unicode username/password.

One of my users upgraded FileZilla on her Windows PC to version 3.22.0.

On my Windows PC, I'm running FileZilla 3.7.1.1 and have no problems connecting to the AIX server.

What changed between FileZilla 3.7.1.1 and 3.22.0. ?

I have a show called Rockabilly and Blues that will not delete when I try to delete from the filezilla. It's using up storage on my radio station. Is there another way to remove these files when this happens?

Will the FileZilla offer real local/server byte-by-byte file check and perhaps, even a file comparison tool, not just date/time and filesize checks, that are currently offered?

The date/time comparisons feature is buggy due to server/local timezone issues and the filesize feature alone isn't 100% effective in knowing that the files are really the same, which could lead to nasty differences not otherwise caught.

I realize that the file byte-by-byte check and a file comparison tool are two different things, but having the check at a minimum is really necessary and the comparison tool extension would be really nice.

One way to easily implement the comparison tool which I've seen in your forum and suggested myself that FileZilla should offer a configuration option to allow an external diff tools to be used, which automate the downloading of the server-side file and starting up a third-party diff tool, if one is not otherwise offered by you, to allow local and server files to be easily checked.

XP boxes are recycled and are still out there. current versions do not run on xp. please make a link available. it will reduce the bandwidth required hunting for a working version and frustration by the user. I had to download about 4-5 versions to get it figured out.

since Fedora switched to building FileZilla against GTK3, the scroll buttons require repeated clicks to initiate a scroll of a single tick. 4-7 clicks required per tick in my testing, depending apparently on how much scrolling is available.

Fedora now builds FileZilla against gtk3. now a horizontal scrollbar's width seems to fluctuate while scrolling horizontally, which can result in anomalies such as the scrollbar jumping back and forth, or columns temporarily being clipped at one side or the other.

Is it possible to add site name in window title of passphrase entering dialog? It will help with KeePass' Auto-Type feature by identifying which passphrase is needed and not having to select from many sites.

I am unable to upload files onto our server due to 552 Disk full. We definitely have space on our Shoutcast server so I wonder if this is a Filezilla issue.

This happened before in August but the issue seemed to fix itself later the same day.

I am getting the attached message every time that I logon to my webpage. It still gains access to the folders, but every time I click on one, the same message appears.

The current sorting algorithm is simply not logical and causes issues, see attached picture for more details.

It should sort numbers from lowest to highest, not like this: 1, 10, 100, 101, 102, etc

Usually I use filezilla to delete the large (+- 20 GB each file) daily backups on the server. So when I choose 20 files (eg.) and press DEL to delete them, it starts to delete, but after some time it shows the "Connection timeout when delete many huge files". Due to high disk IO on server the action is slow even on direct rm command on linux.

The auto-update function on OS X downloads the new version of FileZilla to the user's documents folder, which is not expected behavior. Generally, the user's Downloads folder would be a more appropriate destination, and the first place most people would look.

It seems that when server sends something like

Filezilla client doesn't warn the user.

And then the user think that it downloads all the files in the directory but it does not.

There seems to be a time display issue on folder's "Last Modification Time". Time is off by 2 hours(+2 hours) on a parent directory. When i browse a subdirectory, and come back to the parent directory and right-click 'Refresh', "Last Modification Time" is correct again. See screenshots. Thanks,

I create a new directory, but it does not appear in the directories list. Pressing F5 does not help eaither. Re-login did not help - directory is still not listed. I go and check with the hosting FTP manager - directory is there. I closed down and opened Filezilla, logged again and directory was bisible.

It would be great if you could set the quickconnect connection type in settings, so it defaults to plain ftp instead of FTP over TLS.

While increased security is always good, many hosts still do not default to ftp over TLS due to compatibility issues. It would increase productivity to quickly connect to these hosts instead of having to add each to the site manager.

When using a dark theme, the standard status messages in the client can be unreadable.

This patch changes the default color of the text in the statusview widget from wxSYS_COLOUR_WINDOWTEXT to wxSYS_COLOUR_LISTBOXTEXT. The background color is wxSYS_COLOUR_LISTBOX, so this made the most sense to me.

I haven't tested the patch with a light theme, or on any other OSes, but I imagine it wouldn't cause any problems. The patch itself is one I wrote back in 2014 for a debian package, but it should still apply fine.

While transferring files from my files to the files of my server, certain files are failing to transfer.

Basic info, This is a mod for our ARK server hosted by PingPerfect. This mod is already installed, these files are attempting to overwrite the existing ones as well as downloading new files from the update. The issue only appears on certain files.

Other admins/moderators have attempted to resolve this issue by doing the update themselves and it has worked without issue. They also use the FileZilla client, there were no failed transfers on the same mod with the exact same update. I have done two other mod updates within the last three days without issue.

It is the same the entire way up, only 34 files successfully transferred and 501 files that failed.

This is issue only happens when moving directories on the remove server.

Directory/File Structure: root root/app root/magento root/magento/app root/magento/app/file.txt

When I click-and-drag the root/magento/app directory up 1 level into root, I would expect the root/app directory to contain file.txt. Instead, FZ is nesting the app directories so I have root/app/app/file.txt.

This is easily reproducible and I do not believe it is intended behavior.

it's failed to connect via HTTP proxy in 3.22.2-rc1. can't get the correct port number in EPSV response.

this patch will fix this issue.

When trying to connect to non default ports it will work if you use HOST:PORT, but not if you put the port in the "Port" textbox, whether I use Quickconnect or a pre-defined server, both ignore the port.

Hi, Using Filezilla client software, but I am unable to connect to anything through it! I keep getting an error message saying Connection attempt failed with "EAI_FAIL - Nonrecoverable failure in name resolution". I have disabled my Antivirus, and also tried when firewall was disabled and still get the same results. I tried using the Network configuration wizard, but that can't connect either! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Today I updated FileZilla to the latest offered version 3.22.2. After that it will not launch.

Description:

1. See system and crash log in attached file
2. Working user account is non admin

3. After launching the previously installed FileZilla-Version it automatically offered an update to the named version. I chose to update.

4. After this update procedure FileZilla would not launch.

5. Checking all Gatekeeper and SIP-settings - even if disabling - the app would not launch.

6. Redownloading the bundle-installer, installing. But here also app will not launch.

7. Redownloading non installer, but the file FileZilla_3.22.2_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2. Moving the unpacked app to "Programs". Still app will not launch.

8. Repaired permissions through terminal. Restarted system. FileZille will not launch.

9. Started app from download-location. This time app launches with OS-warning. On choosing open anyway FileZilla will not appear with main window.

10. Logged out and logged in with admin account.

11. On launching FileZilla the OS prompted a warning that there was a problem launching FileZilla. The crash-log is attached to this report.

I never had such a behaviour with any FileZilla-iteration before. I always downloaded the new compressed app-file, unpacked, moved to programs and launched it without error.

Some compilers (eg. mingw) library functions (surely wcsrtombs and, I guess, mbsrtowcs too) fail if the destination buffer size is 0, even if the destination pointer is NULL. In this case (NULL pointer) the function(s) returns the minimum between the real string length and the destination buffer size. So, if the destination size is 0, the return value is always 0. The attached patch turns the size parameter to -1 (this is a trick to set all the bits to 1 regardless of the parameter type) where the pointer is NULL. I see this issue only when behind proxy with ASCII character support only.

I'm running Fedora 24 with Gnome 3.20.4 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Filezilla opens to a very tiny (and unusable) window that cannot resize or maximize. There's no "maximize" icon and double-clicking the menu bar does nothing.

Quick Googling led me to similar issues on the GTK side, and a patch was submitted and accepted upstream some time ago. More info on that here:

My short-term solution was to use the Gnome Tweak Tool to set my window resolution to "1", resize the Filezilla window and do what I need to do, then use the Tweak Tool to reset the resolution to "2" so I can go about my day-to-day operations. Because this was already patched in GTK I'm assuming there's something that might need to be addressed in Filezilla specifically. Thanks!

This is a bug with Windows, but I believe FileZilla can do something about it as well. Duplicate of #10968 but it's rejected and I wanted to provide more information on how to trigger this.

1) Perform a transfer and get a notification about its completion 2) Perform a second transfer that completes while the notification is still up 3) Taskbar and other Explorer elements (win+e, win+d, win+r, win) are now frozen for what seems to be 90 seconds (however, alt+tab works). One cannot work on the computer anymore for as long it is frozen.

If you do a transfer while the notification is up that doesn't complete until the notification is gone, everything works as intended.

The only way to prevent this is to turn off notifications for FileZilla completely.

When visiting ​https://forum.filezilla-project.org/ an error 500 is shown, without any content or specific error message other than the response header signaling a HTTP 500 error.

This forum link appears in Google search results (which is how i found out), and is used as such the home page (i double checked this in case it was moved).

I am using Filezilla to backup my sites. I am trying to download full site, but it's stop in specific quaked files all the time. I try with different servers and happen the same problem. I delete Filezilla and install again but still have this problem. Please advise.

Since i upgrade FileZilla > 3.20.0, i'm unable to use SFTP protocol to connect Linux host (last test failed with 3.22.2): message "Unable to connect host" I downgrade my version to 3.20.0 and it's work well.

It happened in both 3.22.2.1 and 3.22.2.2. I almost will use FileZilla client to do the photo-downloading job every day from my smartphone in which a FTP server app will run. After downloading finished, I then will delete all the source pictures in server. While the deleting-job is running, if the server app works fine, everything will be OK; if the server app is unexpectedly shut down due to the phone's power-saving mode or my quiting touch, the FileZilla client will give a error message in message log area such as "connection failed". In such condition, One or several downloaded and locally stored files will be modified: the sizes turn into 0, which means the file bodies are lost and only names are kept. And after the server app is re-run and connetion is re-built, the names of those 0-size files will show again in the transfer queue area, not the queued-files page, but the failed-transfers page, it seems the client wants to download those pictures again from server, but failed because they also have been deleted from server already. Then I have to face the situation: I lose these pictures forever because the source in server has be earsed and the local copies have been modified into 0-size.

If I choose to run client right after installation then it starts up correctly, but any subsequential start of client produces crash dump immediately after starting the executable.

Hello, I'm running Filezilla FTP Client version 3.22.2.2 (64-bit) on Windows 10 and it used to run perfectly until about a week ago. An error caused the program to fail and ever since, I've been getting an error message on startup and then another error message when I try to pull up my Site Manager. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to correct any file issues but I'm still getting the errors. I'm hoping that I might find a solution by opening a ticket, as I need to be able to use Site Manager. I've attached screenshots of the error messages.

Upon entering my credentials as usual. I get the message 'Connection established, waiting for welcome message...'. This is odd as I have used it with the correct credentials before, could it have crashed?

FileZilla was working fine, until it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried resetting my bluehost cpanel password repeatedly, but the below continues to occur. I’ve typed the password very slowly and carefully. I’m inputting the correct password. I am 100% certain about that. Recent VCS versions of FileZilla client show a warning message right upon start which seems to be associated with crashes / core dumps that sporadically take place after establishing connections.

Both the error message and traces of the crash are attached to this report. Debug symbols were disabled, let me know if this isn't enough. The message is the same when wxWidgets are compiled against GTK 3 or 2. The crashes were seen under GTK 2 only so far which may or may not be by incident.

Seen compiling 8034 against wxWidgets from current master on Arch Linux x86_64.

I find I got in the habit of using the roller on my mouse often for scrolling. It works fine with the main boxes in the center.

But, with the site pull down, there is no roller action.

I'm thinking it has gone unnoticed because few users have so many sites that the page has been filled?

I don't see this as a big deal. Love Filezilla and just thought I would mention this someday, and today was the day.

When one clicks to sort by Last modified, than he expects last modified file to be first in list (not last).

Current behavior: you need to click twice.

Why: the column name is Last modified, not for eg. Modified time, which could be sorted ascending.

I am running Windows 7 Professional and Filezilla 3.23.0 64 bit. This issue was not present in 3.22.2.2.

When I upgraded versions as mentioned above, I was unable to start Filezilla. The process would not launch yet I could see it in Windows Task Manager taking about 13% CPU. I waited about 10 minutes but nothing happened so I killed the process.

After playing with filezilla.xml, I noticed that this only happens when "Messagelog position" is set to 2 - set to 0 or 1 is fine.

the 3.23.0 upgrade broke the use of linux icon theme. also the used icons on the toolbar are stretched and blurry. was working fine with 3.22

3.23.0 was working fine with sftp logon with key to the same server. now 3.23.0.1 fails, making it unusable.

The timestamp bug is still when you trie to move files from last version of Filezilla (as FTP client) to a SFTP server (in this case Tectia).

I am currently working on an SFTP-Proxy project and I noticed a bug in your software. When closing a file handle, according to the ​SFTP specification version 12, page 35 it states the following:

The response to this request will be a SSH_FXP_STATUS message. Note that on some server platforms even a close can fail. For example, if the server operating system caches writes, and an error occurs while flushing cached writes, the close operation may fail.

In my case this is exactly what happens. When a file is not permitted through the proxy, the CLOSE will fail. The SFTP_Client from the command line in Fedora 25 respects that and will display an error if the upload is not permitted.

However, FileZilla will mark the upload as a success, even though it may have failed. The only way to verify this is to look into the directory, where the failed file will not appear. However, this could be very confusing for our users and can lead to data loss.

I have always had a problem getting updates to apply after "Help->check for updates" downloaded a new update.

I believe I have figured out what is causing that, though. When I start FileZilla, I usually go ahead and connect to a site immediately using "File->Site manager". Then later, after I finish what I am doing I do the "Check for updates" or the program itself may notify me there is an update available. After the update downloads, it almost always fails to install on its own. This time though, I tried to apply the update BEFORE I connected to a site and the updated applied successfully.

At this point I can't go back and try it again without uninstalling FileZilla and intentionally installing an older version, but I wanted to pass this along to you for investigation. This has always been a troublesome problem for me. I like to use FileZilla. It works very well. Thank you.

Using Filezilla Mac 3.23.0.2 or the previous two versions.

When a file change dialog appears while the context menu is expanded the UI ceases to function until the application is left in the background for some time, or the application is forced to quit. Clicking any of the button options available on screen does nothing.

SFTP file upload fine with 3.17.0.1 but times out with 3.23.0.2

If you are using synchronised browsing and you double click on a folder that is on the local machine but not on the remote machine and select "Cancel" off the popup about synchronised browsing; if you then double click on any folder in the local pane you get a message "Cannot change directory, there is already a synchronised browsing operation in progress.

The only way you can then change folder is to double click on the remote server pane.

I tried downloading the client installer from the FileZilla website today, for the first time, from here:

On this page it says the latest stable version of FileZilla Client is 3.23.0.2

When opening the installer I get this alert message in Mac OS: "You can’t open the application “FileZilla-Installer” because it may be damaged or incomplete."

I tried downloading the installer 2 more times with the same result.

I am unable to delete files on windows 2012 server. The user has given full rights on filezilla server application, connecting to the ftp server with windows "network location" as a ftp folder in explorer.

Also same user name is created as local user in the windows server, with full permission to the selected folder.

I can rename the files, but cannot delete them, and there is no error logged in the logs, just mentioned as below:

up until the most recent update I have not had a problem using FileZilla. After this update it wont allow me to connect to the server. It keeps saying

so I have looked at everything I can think of and find to try to fix the issue but to no resolve. the network wizard says this when I run it

this is really starting to bug me because of the work I have to get done and it wont let me connect. other people can connect to the server just fine with same version so I don't know what the issue is it happened over night one day I could connect the next I couldn't and I'm using all the recommended settings for ftp connection. please help end my misery

Following error is displayed in FileZilla while download a file:

Error: Failed to open "X:\folder\file.ext" for writing Error: File transfer failed

The error is actually from Windows 10 because it cannot create the foreign character of the Mac computer.

So you should check the filename for Mac characters and either change the error message or prompt the user to automatically change the characters in the file so it can be downloaded.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install filezilla client, default settings.
2. Go to Edit -> Settings -> Transfers -> File Types
3. Select all extensions on the list
4. Click on "Remove"

If you are on Windows, it will remove only part of the list. You have to click "Remove" more times until the list is cleared. If you are on Linux (ubuntu tested) there will be an error, but it won't crash and you can continue deleting.

I can provide more info if you can't reproduce this problem.

I have updated to the newest version of FileZilla, downloaded to another computer as well as tried a different FTP soft ware and continue receiving the same error. I do not know what else to do if someone can please help me.

Every year, I upload a schedule.htm to my web site via filezilla. This year, when I opened filezilla, it had a latest version update (which I always do when given the option), and I then deleted old schedule, updated new schedule and I get the following: "404 not found, nginx/1.2.7". I have searched filezilla forums several ways and each time I get 0 results. I have contacted my server, deleted old htm files and re-uploaded. I have uninstalled and reinstalled filezilla, and no matter what I have tried, I continue to get this message and thus, cannot view my schedule. This affects my business, and as it is the start of a new year, this for me is a high priority.

This only started recently though I don't know exactly when. I have a USB drive with a volume name "K8IE"

When I plug K8IE into my laptop, a phantom volume is created called K8IE x where "x" is a numbered instance of this phantom drive. So now underneath my local volumes I am showing K8IE, K8IE 1, K8IE 2, K8IE 3, K8IE 4, &c.

The files on this USB drive only appear under the last of the instances, e.g., if K8IE 4 is the highest instance, I see my files under it but no files appear under the other instances.

The volumes are persistent. If I remove the K8IE volume, all of the volumes remain showing in the Filezilla local drive window, even after a refresh. I cannot delete these bogus volumes, either.

Getting a strange message suddenly. I installed the lastest version and still getting it. Please see a copy of the error message attached.

When i go to settings -> debug and set a debug level (e.g. 1 or 4) and restart the application, that setting is not saved. But all other settings are saved correctly e.g. the switch to show the debug menu.

Currently when Filezilla Server is configured to run with TLS 1.2 only there are 2 ciphers that are enabled that cause Filezilla Server to fail a PCI 3.2 audit/scan. These two ciphers in question are:

It looks like a simple change to CAsyncSslSocketLayer::InitSSLConnection function in AsyncSslSocketLayer.cpp will resolve this issue:

Within the "Files currently being edited" dialog, the bottom buttons include:

• &p → Upload
• &p → Open file

The buttons need separate underlines (or whatever they're called!)

Renaming a file on a HP NonStop causes the new file name to include the folder name and the file to end up in parent folder. I think the log below explains the problem best.

The file being renamed is located in /usr/morten/environments/devl/batch

When client is idle and disconnects, then you select a different remote directory from the directory-tree, it doesn't reconnect first. You have to wait for the timeout before it will reconnect, or manually disconnect and reconnect.

Could it reconnect before trying the command first time round?

I have seen a similar ticket from 11 years ago which was resolved but this it still happening for me. (perhaps 11 years ago it was the Linux version that was fixed? I have no idea.)

this is not working on ipv6, i have used 4g net but filezilla stops working at ipv6.

Since a while I encouter a bug with transferring files with Filezilla. I do not have this problem with other FTP programms (ie. CuteFTP pro), but I 'simply' prefer working with FileZilla :-)

When I transfer all files from a WordPress installation from the (external) server to an EMPTY folder on my pc, most of the times the wp-login.php files is not being transferred. I get an error message (see attachment 1) "Target file already exists" (although the folder was empty when I started the transfer).

When I click OK, the error message keeps coming back.

When Ik click Cancel, all other files are being transferred. In the end, the transfer is 'hanging' for a while (see attachement 2), after which I again get the error message.

When I click Cancel, I can see in the overview that the wp-login.php file has only been transferred partially (26 of 34 kB).

It is quite annoying as in this way the backups I make are never complete. To achieve that I have to manually copy the original wp-login.php file from the corresponding wp version into the folder where my backup is and overwrite the 26 kB file.

What is going wrong and what can I do to solve this problem?

When updating the app on a Mac from the pop up menu at start up, the app is unzipped into the Applications folder with the name appended with a numeral. This is counterintuitive & highly crappy. I don't understand the though process. It's beyond comprehension. Now you have two (or more as most people just keep clicking on the Update button and the dumb updater just keeps unzipping more appended versions into the Applications folder) versions with different names, and you have to go toss the old app & rename the new one or your shortcuts fail. Brilliant.

The app should quit before the file is unzipped, the old app should be deleted, and the new version started.

As I used lot of server links, however I thought to save my server credential to filezilla. So I planned to import xml file to filezilla.

After I got to know, my server credential got hacked and hackers used my space to put some unauthorized content.

Its very serious issue for you and me. I complaint to service provider and he come to know some Chinese hackers hack all this information through filezilla.

So let me know, what is filezilla stand on this suspicious incident happened with me?
