#4954 Ver. 3.2.8.1 Drag and Drop to shell disabled normal fixed 15 years 15 years
Description

Hi there! Thank you for providing a valuable and highly useful piece of software.

Just recently, I updated the program (version 3.2.8.1) and found that drag and drop functionality from the FTP file navigation pane to the windows shell was disabled. To clarify, when I try to drag a file to my desktop, my mouse pointer turns into the "unavailable" icon (circle with a line through it).

I've rebooted the pc, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, enabled the shell extention, modified my registry (according to the forums), and read through the existing tickets as well as the forum, and no solution has been identified as of yet. I can still navigate to the local folder in my left file navigation pane and download from there just fine. It's merely a matter of convenience.

Thanks for any & all help! I've attached my fzshellext.txt log, as recommended in the forum.

Yours, Chad

#8313 Ver 3.6 upgrade from 3.53 GnuTLS error-15 normal rejected 12 years 10 years
Description

I just upgrade from 3.53 to the current 3.6 Before the upgrade I could connect to one of my ftp sites, after the upgrade with no changes in site manager I get the error below.

This was an issue from 3.52 to 3.53 I believe (which I fixed on my server by a few certificate changes) What do I need to do to fix the below. This gets very tiring when the security scheme keeps changing over and over again.

#9808 V3.9.0.3 not connecting on windows 8.1 machine normal outdated 10 years 9 years
Description

When I upgraded to 3.9.0.3 (using the update feature within the program so should be a legitimate update) connections failed each time on the two separate FTP servers I connect to (see files). IF I uninstall 3.9.0.3 and re-install 3.9.0.2 (I kept both install packages on my machine) the same servers work fine and connect with no problems. This is a repeatable fault as I have now switched between the two versions a number of times and BOTH sets of settings in the Connection Managers appear to be identical in both versions of the software.

I have Linux servers at work, and periodically I need to sftp files off or on. I updated my version from 3.21 to 3.22, and attempted to connect, but it kept failing. I reverted back to v 3.21 and I was able to connect.

My working machine is a MacBook Air, running Mac OS X 10.11.6.

The Linux version is RHEL 5. Please let me know if you need any more information.

#4804 Using FileZilla while using my iPhone as a modem (one problem company - others fine) normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

There is one web host provider that I cannot upload anything to any of the sites they host while using my iPhone as a modem. I have contacted them and they are baffled by this issue and they too would like to know what the problem/solution may be. I have no problem uploading anywhere else (other sites and web host companies). It is only their clients sites that I cannot upload to.

I CAN upload to these problem sites when I am connected to other Internet providers (e.g. free wireless locations) only not when I am connected to my iPhone.

The error messages I get are: Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Using my iPhone as a modem I CAN connect to other web host providers, just not this particular company.

Any insight?

#3998 Using BINARY mode transfer even though ASCII is selected! normal rejected 16 years 16 years
Description

I’ve been using FileZilla successfully until I upgraded to version 3.1.5.

Despite selecting “Auto” or “ASCII” for the file transfer mode in teh FileZilla menu FileZilla version 3.1.5 always transfers the file in BINARY mode! A sample of the output is as follows:

Command: CWD /cgi-bin Response: 250 Directory successfully changed. Command: TYPE A Response: 200 Switching to ASCII mode. Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode Command: RETR hits_out.txt Response: 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for hits_out.txt (5749 bytes). Response: 226 File send OK. Status: File transfer successful

As you can see FileZilla switches to ASCII mode but transfers the file in BINARY mode! I feel this is a major bug with the software.

Please could someone investigate as I would really like to keep using FileZilla but the software as it stands is incapable of transferring in ASCII mode without corrupting the file.

#4097 Use of setenv() is not portable normal fixed 15 years 15 years
Description

In the FileZilla Client 3.1.6 code, src/interface/locale_initializer.cpp makes a call to setenv(), which unfortunately not every platform has (my example is HP-UX 11.11). To fix this in a somewhat kludgy way, I took the gitsetenv() routine from git's compat/setenv.c and put it in locale_initializer.cpp (I had to cast the malloc() call in the gitsetenv() function to (char *) as well). Whether there's a more elegant solution, I'll leave it up to you (e.g. you could test for setenv() in configure and #ifdef HAVE_SETENV or something, but you'll still need some code for your equivalent setenv() call of course).

#976 Usability: Remote / Local paths + wrong slashes low 19 years 17 years
Description

Detail: It's 3am, you're tired. You use the edit control to alter your current location on the Remote site, but accidentally use a \ where you should have used a /. Luckily, Filezilla knows what you mean and converts it to the right slash.

When you begin to rely on that behaviour, it's extremely frustrating to attempt to do the same in the Local site control. You enter "c:/foo/bar/" and get an annoying warning.

Severity: Minor annoyance

Explanation: User relies on one behaviour which is inconsistent in other areas, causing frustration.

Solutions:

  • Path box automagically swaps slashes
  • Path boxes (everywhere) are like a browser's location

bar, and facilitate something like tab-completion - not just for past entries into the box, either.

#910 Usability: Pausing transfers / File List normal outdated 19 years 10 years
Description

It is difficult and frustrating to pause an upload / download over a set of files.

Steps:

  1. Begin a transfer with small files [ ~ 20kb each, ie,

webpages ]

  1. Scroll down
  2. Select multiple files [ more than 20 ]
  3. Pause.

Expected: Filezilla lets me pause the files I selected and doesn't mess with the UI.

Actual: I can't maintain the selection I had, because as soon as one uploads, the list recenters the view - despite me being in the middle of selecting things. I lose the highlighted files I had and have to start over. I can't select a lot of files at once. I can't sort the list, despite clickable heading buttons [whcih would suggest i could]. I get frustrated by having to select 5 files, pause them, unfocus them, select 5 more. I cannot pause a collection of files if any of them are already paused. So, if I highlight ONE file that's already paused, I can't change the other ones. The same applies if a file has messed up during transfer [ I can't pause failed files ].

Solutions: These bugs make it unpleasant to use filezilla because I'm wary of making a mistake, dropping in the wrong directory to upload. If this area was *bigger* by default, and did not move when I had my mouse in there AND let me set states that are already set [ie, ignore those items], I would be a much happier user.

#9858 Urgent! Latest versions not working with latest Mac OS!! critical duplicate 10 years 10 years
Description

On launching the past two or three versions of FileZilla the top menu bar of the program is not visible. There is no way to "drag the window" to make it visible. It is somehow being blocked by the system menu bar, therefore there is no way to "quick connect."

This must be a compatibility issue with the very latest Mac OS because I don't have this problem on another machine that has not yet been updated with the latest OS.

Also, "component" select menu (below this window) was not allowing me to select the component, which I believe is "client." Seems to work when previewing the ticket.

#7875 Upper and lower case problems in FileZilla and OS X critical duplicate 12 years 12 years
Description

I notices a huge bug in Filezilla 3.5.3 (and older) when using it on Mac OS X: If you edit two files with different capitalization FileZilla get's confused and in worst case it overwrites the wrong file.

  1. Create a Test.txt and a test.txt in different directories (A and B) on the server
  2. Write click on both files and chose "View/Edit".
  3. Edit Test.txt and save it.
  4. FileZilla notices the change and asks if it should upload test.txt in A and then it asks again if it should upload Test.txt in A. So afterwards you have a test.txt and a Test.txt in Folder A.

Unfortunately I can't reproduce how it overwrites the file but it clearly happens as my style.css and Style.css got messed up two times! And as you can see with the 4 steps I described there seems to be a problem somewhere.

AFAIK the problem doesn't occur in Windows!

since updating to v3.52.05 (and also with 3.52.2), I have been unable to upload or download files from the server. It appears to write and then I will see an error that the file transfer failed, and then when it retries, it brings up the overwrite dialog to try to overwrite the file I just uploaded or downloaded - the file that is on the server after the initial upload is 0kb in size.

Trace:	DuplicateHandle failed

I have been able to workaround by downgrading back to 3.51.0 for the time being.

It appears that for both the 3.52.2 uploads and downloads, the following message appears after the put/get command respectively:

#7287 Uploading problems with encryption (Linux only) high fixed 13 years 10 years
Description

This log is anonymized. Size of cloudy_violet.JPG is 833,949 bytes. Filezilla 3.4.0 client (Linux) with encryption (Require explicit FTP over TLS).The connection timeout is nonsense. The FTP server is the last one which is sending an ACK and is waiting for Filezilla to do something - checked with wireshark. Without encryption, everything is working fine under Linux - but with encryption see this log. Only max. 180,224 bytes per session possible. Firewall was not active. Filezilla 3.4.0 client under Windows Vista is working flawlessly (with no encryption and encryption, too).

#1019 Uploading multiple files bug normal 18 years 18 years
Description

This bug has started to occur alot lately and is very quite annoying. What is happening is if i try to upload 2 files at the same time sometimes those files are named incorrectly.

For example I have 2 files, File1 and File2. If i try to upload these to at the same time. The contents of File1 gets saved as the file name of File2 and the opposite for File2 contents saved as File1.

This has occurred on several WinXP SP2 machines and even on Win2K, and doesn't matter if i'm uploading to a windows or a linux server. Most of the files i upload are graphics or text files for website (ASP,PHP,JSP,.NET, etc...)

#3700 Uploading mp3 file hangs after first 200kb blocker outdated 16 years 10 years
Description

Trying to upload a 20MB mp3 file to this server with Filezilla always seems to hang after the first 200kB. I have been using FTP Commander for several years, uploading a file like this to the same site every week without problems. I have tried to use various versions of Filezilla (3.0.7.1, 3.0.9.3 and now 3.1.1.1) because I would prefer to use Filezilla if it would work. But it never does. It always hangs up when trying to upload these large files. I can upload small text/html files, but it always hangs on the large mp3 files. Below is a copy of the log, connecting to the site, changing to the "Services" folder and then trying to upload the mp3 file. I used the debug=verbose setting. Rob Doerksen

#8020 Uploading files doesn't overwrite normal fixed 12 years 12 years
Description

Whenever I try to replace my index.html file and attached folders and such from updated ones in my documents folder, they don't overwrite.

The overwrite window gets brought up, I always pick: "Overwrite", and it doesn't replace it because the file size stays how it was before the file transfer.

I've tried uploading it to the root folder and then moving to the public_html folder but nothing works. Actually what I've noticed is that initially when it's uploaded, for a split second, it replaces, then the file size goes back to normal.

Even removing the index.html file and going to the site in my browser still seems as though the index file is still uploaded when it's not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

#3830 Uploading file removes ALL carriage returns screwing up files normal outdated 16 years 10 years

Im kinda just about to give up with filezilla :( doesnt happen all of the time but 60% of the time when i upload a php file that ive just edited using the left click edit or left click open save then upload pops it over to the server but all the code ends up on one line completely screwing up the php because all the code after the comments is classed as comments, tried many work arounds and it doesnt work.

To make things even nicer, sometimes when i open files from the server they have an extra line or 2 between every line of code, whats happening? this has happened on the latest 3 versions ive downloaded.

Cheers guys / gals :)

#4955 Uploaded files deleted upon upload to 0 files normal outdated 15 years 11 years
Description

Uploading updates has become a nightmare. Reworked htm files go through the motions of uploading and appear for a moment on the remote server, and then they disappear leaving "0 files" in their place, and no other details of date/ upload as well.

I have tried various options in overwriting to no avail. I delete the blank file on the server and re-do, and fail again. I have had intermittent success.

Meantime I use the server-side software of my web host, but that will only work for HTML, not PDFs/Docs

#3635 Uploaded file truncated when using FTP over SOCKS normal 16 years 10 years
Description

Hi,

I'm encountering an issue with Filezilla 3.1.0.1 on Windows XP.(I encounter exactly same problem with FileZilla 2.2.25 since months/years)

When i try to upload files thanks to FTP using Socks proxy, some of files are truncated. If i reupload the same file just after the first upload we can see the file size difference (see screenshot). An other point is that just after upload the size of file on remote server in filezilla seems correct, but after a refresh (F5) the this is the real size (trucated file size).

Original file is: http://maubeuge2008.org/testseb/pbftp/10031_ff2-good.jpg Uploaded file is: http://maubeuge2008.org/testseb/pbftp/10031_ff2.jpg

It seems very similar to closed bug id #1662435. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1662435&group_id=21558&atid=887596

#11273 Upload/Download queue should have a server column low worksforme 7 years 7 years
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open several connections to different sites in several tabs
  2. Start some uploads and/or downloads on each of them
  3. Look at the transfer queue at the bottom

Expected: the files currently transferring or queued to be transferred are listed; you should be able to tell which one are being transferred to/from which of the servers you are connected to

Observed: several attributes of the files are shown: current path, remote path, etc, but there's no indication of what server they are being transferred to/from. So, if you queued downloads to several servers, you cannot tell them apart. How f*ing stupid is that??

Product FileZilla Client 3.3.1 https://www.ohloh.net/projects/filezilla/download?filename=FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip

The client version was downloaded on Wednesday, January 06, 2010, 6:47:07 PM.

The client file name: FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip

The link used to get the file: http://d10xg45o6p6dbl.cloudfront.net/projects/f/filezilla/FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip

Originally, the file as shown by Windows XP, displayed a file size of 15,569 bytes. I uploaded the file to the Linux server and FileZilla read a file size of 15,501 bytes even though Windows reported a 15,569 byte file size.

I discovered that one specific character within the file caused the problems. I believe it was a null (character 0) character that caused the problems. Anyways, I do not know if FileZilla 3.3.1 failed to report the size correctly or if the Linux OS failed to report the size correctly. FileZilla showed two different sizes for the files on the two different systems.

I copied and pasted what I thought was text to a file but it had a character in it that SciTE accepted (but displayed as a space character Hex:20h, Decimal:32). I ran into this problem once before a long time ago, but I believe I used WS-FTP32 in that case.

Anyways, the problem that exists with FileZilla, as I see it, is that FileZilla would be a little better if it analyzed the file before it uploaded it, and if FileZilla found a binary character in an ASCII (text) file, it probably should alert the user.

One other thing, if it detects that the uploaded file is 15,501 bytes while the file to get uploaded (the source) is 15,569, I feel it should report that to the user with a possible explanation for the differences in size.

Thank you for your time.

#1155 Upload successful but zero bytes in file normal 18 years 18 years
Description

When transferring files larger than 10MB to a PureFTPD server (Version 1.0.20-7 running on Suse Linux 10.0)upload is successful (according to logs) But the file length is zero bytes. This appears to happen less often with smaller files, but almost always with files of 100MB or more. The newest version seems to do it more than older versions. It will resume properly if interrupted, but is just as likely to create zero length files. I am including the entire log file generated during these transfers.

I haven't found another client which does the same

thing. If needed, I can provide a network packet capture or try it again with various settings if it will help. This problem seems to occur whether active or passive, and through two different firewalls (Symantec Enterprise and Smoothwall) or through no firewall.

Yesterday I've upgraded to latest version of Filezilla Client (3.0.4.1) and I've found a bug:

When I was uploading nearly 600 files (a backup), filezilla stopped uploading files, there were two files "Uploading" but nothing happened. I tried to re-connect to the server and it didn't upload any more file. I had to restart FileZilla. I've tried to do it in 2 different servers and with different files but it's almost impossible do a massive upload...

I've been using filezilla since it was 1.x (I don't remember which exactly) but it never happened this...

Regards

#5361 Upload stops though there are still files in the queue normal rejected 14 years 14 years
Description

When there are pending files in the upload queue from a previous session and new files for upload are added, the new files are uploaded OK, but after that the transfer stops leaving the existing files pending.

The remaining files are uploaded if "Process queue" is checked (when the transfer of the new files is done, "Process queue" is unchecked).

#5179 Upload resume fails with incorrect message normal rejected 14 years 14 years
Description

Resume worked in earlier versions tried. This is now version 3.3.1.

I connect to the server, which failed on a 5GB upload with a timeout. When I resume, it starts and immediately fails claiming the user aborted. In debug logging, instead it says:

08:21:36 Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

It then repeats the whole cycle, over and over until I actually do abort it.

Attached is the full log from connection to giving up.

#804 Upload of modified file doesn't work for non-default program normal outdated 19 years 16 years
Description

The capability to upload a modified file appears only to work for the default program to edit/view files. For example, I have my text editor as the default program. If I modify a .txt/.log/.ini file on the server, when I save and close it asks if I want to upload the modified file to the server. I also have an association for .xls files to excel. I am not prompted for the automatic upload if I change one of these files.

If, however, I set Excel to be my default program and set up the .txt/.log/.ini files as non-default associations, the behavior is reversed. Excel files will prompt me for automatic upload when changed, but the text files will not.

It just seems like it should work for all files, whether they are opened by the default view/edit program or not.

Thanks, Sammy

#4309 Upload of large files completes, but shows zero bytes on server high outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

Re: Filezilla 3.2.2.1

Hello, I enjoy using Filezilla daily, but there's a bug when uploading large files. This has occurred in previous versions of Filezilla, but I haven't reported it until now. The uploads complete, only to show zero bytes on the server. The uploaded files do not play or download when requested by a browser. These are mostly audio and video files in excess of say 100 MB up to 250 MB. I've tried uploading the same files to the same server directory with other clients - WS-FTP, Cute, Smart, ftp Explorer, ftp Voyager, etc. They all complete the transfer and show the correct file size. Which makes me think there's a subtle bug in Filezilla. I've attached the Filezilla verbose log. For now, I'm using WS-FTP to transfer large files.

#3743 Upload limited to 10mbps on a 10/100 network. normal outdated 16 years 12 years
Description

I use FileZilla to transfer files between computers on my network. I used to have a problem with it only transferring files at 10mbps, then one version the bug was fixed, and now the bug is back again. I don't know how many versions back it was reintroduced.

It happens both with ftp and sftp transfers now. I think before it only happened with sftp tranfers. I know it isn't my network because I can transfer files using scp at the full 100mbps.

#8056 Upload from Local site to Remote site says permission denied normal rejected 12 years 10 years
Description

Every time I tried to upload a file from the Local Site (my usb or local hard drive) to the Remote Site I have been denied access. Up until a couple months ago, this was never a problem and then one day the FileZilla client denied me access. It has been this way ever since then. I have tried downloading the client onto other computers and tried uploading from there. I am the only one who accesses FileZilla.

I checked the permissions of the remote file and when I checked the properties, the settings is on "777" but I'm still not allowed to move any local files into the remote files. Thoughts on how to proceed?

#4246 Upload file twice when submit subfolders normal outdated 15 years 12 years
Description

Hi Filezilla team, thanks for development filezilla client!

But I have detected a bug in the current version 3.2.1 of filezilla client (just downloaded update before using today). Below the step-by-step description:

1) Connect to the remote server (with blank directories). 2) Select on local site a directory with subdirectories. Local directory tree is shown. 3) Select some files in the window below of the local directory tree and choose "upload" from the context menue (right mouse click). 4) Download ok. 5) Select some directories in the window below of the local directory tree and choose "upload" from the context menue. These directories contains a lot of small files (704 files in 14 directories). 6) Uploads begins to work... 7) Some files later the message window appears "Target file already exists", asking me for an action. But there is no duplicate file. The remote ftp server was empty. I didn't touch the local subdirectories while uploading.

After confirming the window the upload repeats working. In summary all files are uploaded. (I hope the contents of the files are correct, I didn't checked all files yet).

Hope you can find the bug. If you have further questions don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards Glg

(Sorry for my bad german-english)

#5586 Upload fails that works in previous version of FileZilla normal fixed 14 years 14 years
Description

With version 3.3.4.1, an upload of slightly larger than 130k fails, issuing "Target File Already Exists" over and over. I uninstalled 3.3.4.1, and installed version 3.1.3.1, and the file transfers fine, so it appears to not be something environmental. I then reverted back to 3.3.4.1, and it failed again in the same way.

I'm trying to send the file to a server running Windows, but I'm not sure of its version. After ensuring that the file didn't exist on the target server, I initiated the upload process. The progress info indicated that it had uploaded exactly 64K bytes, then the "Target File Already Exists" window popped up, indicating that the file already existed on the target server, with a filesize of 64k. I tell it to Overwrite, and after a few seconds, the same popup comes, this time telling me that the file on the server is 0 bytes. I hit OK (Overwrite) and I'm now in the loop of the popup appearing over and over, and the upload not completing.

Is there some option that was introduced between these two versions that I might need to set to make the upload happen properly?

Thanks!

There was no *visible* FZ exe running at that point, and I'm sorry to say (as I had had no trouble with preceding updates initiated AT START-UP of FZ and hence wasn't paying much attention to the update process) I don't recall what the choices were, but whatever I chose has resulted in my entire FZ installation being deleted except for the exe file (dated 2/29/16).

So this method of updating (from the BUTTON) appears to not kill the running FZ.

No back-up, my fault.

#10215 Updates Never not working low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Hello. I got an update recently which messed up my secure FTP functionality. As such, I installed the previous version of Filezilla client (btw, with one slip of the finger I was "rewarded" with extra software that was extremely annoying and was quite difficult to fully uninstall, nearly malware. I guess that's how Sourceforge rolls now, probably not your fault.)

Anyway...because of the above, I tried the feature where in Settings... Updates you can choose "Never". This apparently doesn't work. Now I'm nagged every single time I use the program. And yes, I already know that there was some fix that deals with secure connections, so I might try my luck and see if the program works again for secure stuff.

So I'd call it non-urgent priority, even though it's super annoying. :)

Thanks for your help.

#9735 Update in version 3.9.0.2 still hasn't fixed the shell registration issu normal worksforme 10 years 10 years
Description

Version 3.9.0.1 had a problem in that it was not possible to drag a file from the Filezilla server pane to one's desktop or other folder in the local file system except by dragging it into the local pane of Filezilla. Version 3.0.0.2 which I understand should have corrected that problem has not corrected it. Now, instead of simply nothing happening as in 3.9.0.1, a message as follows appears: "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window." Simultaneous with this message, an empty folder with a folder name such as fz3-14072449932070 appears in the local system where the file should have appeared.

Without the local drag and drop and drop feature, Filezilla becomes a real pain to use since it requires changing the local panel directory to a suitable drop location and thus navigating away from the default local directory from which one would typically wish to upload files.

Configuration: disable update checks using Edit → Settings → Updates → FileZilla updates → Check for FileZilla updates automatically = Never Expected behaviour: no update checking Actual behaviour: a nag window appears titled “Check for Updates” with the message “Unfortunately information about the new update could not be retrieved. Either you or your system administrator has disabled checking for updates …”

The only two ways that the program can display this message are a) the program has psychic powers that allow it to magically know about updates without checking, or b) it checked for updates when explicitly instructed not to do so.

The program violates the aforementioned setting. If update checking is disabled, then update checking must not occur. Instead, the program checks for the update and then chooses not to tell you anything about it, as if that somehow constitutes not checking. If update checking is disabled, the program must refrain from making any attempt to check. Otherwise, that setting is virtually meaningless. The only thing it does do is prevent downloading the update installers, but if that is what it is intended to do, the setting needs to say “Download updates automatically and display update changelogs” with a notice below it that update checks cannot be disabled, because the user interface and behaviour must match each other. The program cannot be allowed to disobey the user’s instructions. If the setting exists, it must behave exactly as it indicates.

Navigation: Edit -> Settings... -> Update Check

Please note: this was originally posted as ticket:4588 but was closed as being a duplicate of ticket:4508. It isn't, however: behind our firewall we bypass the proxy server, so setting the global proxy settings actually disables access to all sites within our intranet. Separate settings for Update Check (separate from global proxy settings) would resolve this problem. I'm sure many others have the same problem.

Thanks - and keep up the good work:-)

#8312 Update Client 3.5.3 to 3.6 don't recognize x64 win8 low worksforme 12 years 12 years
Description

After I get notification to update my FileZilla Client from 3.5.3 to 3.6 and confirm that, new installation put files into "Program Files (x86)" - before update I have files in "Program Files" (default x64). I check the new version and that seems to be compiled for x86_64. In fact I have two copies of FileZilla Client files, old x64 v. 3.5.3 and new 3.6 in program files for x86. I have to update my shortcuts on the desktop to new file localization. I have to manually delete old file. Installation wizard did't recognize my system version - x64. I can change it under installation but default it was x86 and I think it was x86 version.

I have Windows 8 Pro x64.

#12114 Update 3.47.0 FileZilla Client normal rejected 4 years 4 years
Description

Norton (antivirus) allowed update today -- then claimed there were "issues" and dispatched entire Filezilla program(!) and won't allow fresh download of Filezilla without (terrifying to me) override. I use Filezilla only occasionally, but rely on it totally. thank you...

When updating the app on a Mac from the pop up menu at start up, the app is unzipped into the Applications folder with the name appended with a numeral. This is counterintuitive & highly crappy. I don't understand the though process. It's beyond comprehension. Now you have two (or more as most people just keep clicking on the Update button and the dumb updater just keeps unzipping more appended versions into the Applications folder) versions with different names, and you have to go toss the old app & rename the new one or your shortcuts fail. Brilliant.

The app should quit before the file is unzipped, the old app should be deleted, and the new version started.

#5011 Unwanted rename when double clicking on folder or file Tim Kosse high fixed 14 years 10 years
Description

I got a nasty problem with 3.3, when i double click on a folder (or file), I will sometime enter the folder but at the same time, get into rename mode (like when I slowly select a file and click again to rename it).

The tricky part is click e.g. on a directory named "files" and having in file a directory named "img" in the same position of the files dir on the screen (behind the cursor after entering the files dir). I enter the files dir, see it's content but also see a folder being renamed, the folder name being "files". Pressing escape to cancel the rename action will in facts rename the "img" dir into "files". The original files directory will not be renamed.

This happens also when uploading a file by double clicking. After the first upload, the file is still selected. Single clicking on it will either :

  • Go to rename mode (if the cursor has moved after the first upload)
  • Do nothing (normal behavior)
  • Upload the file again (cursor did not move after the first upload)

Double clicking will often upload the file AND go into rename mode. I have to hit escape every time in upload the same file. Or I have to unselect it.

Below is the version details for filezilla :

#918 Unreliability in connection and upload normal 19 years 17 years
Description

When I upload files against an IIS Windows 2003 ftp- server, Filezilla constantly has to reconnect. In a multi- file upload, I get several critical errors and multiple retry attempts. It constantly reports timeouts.

Large files especially suffer from this.

The absolute worst thing is that in some cases, a file will be uploaded but in fact only part of the file will have been placed on the server. This is absolutely killing, since you have no way of knowing which file it was. You get all sorts of corruption this way.

My settings: FileZilla 2.2.14b Enable keep alive system 15-30 seconds zero byte transfer limit 15 seconds attempt rety after 5 seconds up to 100 times.

I had to set 100 times otherwise it wouldn't be able to complete large file uploads.

FileZilla seems a very unreliable ftp client to me.

Kind regards,

Marc

#6505 Unrecognized characters after uploading file high rejected 13 years 10 years
Description

Hi,

I've been using FileZilla for years now but lately I have to move to another FTP Client due to some issues I'm having.

FileZilla version: 3.3.5.1. Processor: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz RAM: 2GB System:Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits.

I am a freelancer, web developer, basically using Flash, PHP and MySql. Daily, I need to upload/download files from my Server or my Clients.

After testing my applications in my local environment I upload it to my Server for a remote testing and allowing my Clients check work evolution and suggest corrections, changes, etc.

Since last week I started to have issues after uploading files to my Server:

a) although all files were uploaded properly, with no error messages and all of them being in its proper folder, application refused to work as it was working in my local environment.

b) I observed that some files were having different size in my disk than in my Server. Since I have moved recently to a new WebHosting (Linux) I thought this could be due to a different method Linux had to calculate the space on disk, I don't know.

c) some files, although displaying the same size in my disk than in my Server what lead to think it had been properly uploaded, when testing they refused to be loaded. This was easily detected with Flash movies (most of them forms) and graphics, simple graphics like backgrounds or headers (.png and .jpg). All of them small to middle file sizes (2KB - 200KB). FileZilla showed the files were in their proper folder, Server's FileManager application also showed that the file was in its proper location, Browser's "Source View" feature showed that the file/s were been called at the right places but the file/s didn't show up in the browser.

d) Tracking the application step by step (logically, not with a debugger because the app was not able to start the debugger, the application didn't start at all!) I could detect that some text files were having weird content merged with the actual content (attached you will find one of the files snapshot). I really cannot say about other files content (like Flash or graphic files) since I'm not able to read their contents as one can do with a text file. But those text files, definitely had a different content than its corresponding in my local environment.

e) trying to upload those files once and again (using auto, ASCII or binary) did not show any change: always the same weird content merged with the actual content (black diamonds with a question mark inside).

I talked to my Server's support staff (InMotion) and they could not explain me what could this be due to. And I can't remember where these guys or IXWebHosting support guys (my former Server) that suggested this could be due to a FileZilla misfunction. I refused to accept their suggestion but, just in case, I downloaded another free FTP Client (Core FTP Lite) and the same files and directories were uploaded once again with successful results: no file was missing, no size was different and all files content (texts, graphics, flash, databases, etc) were exactly the same than in my local environment.

I have been searching in previous reports of similar issues and couldn't find any similar to mine; then, I cannot understand what weird configuration should I have that may be causing this deformation.

Since I love FileZilla, I feel very confident with it and very familiar with all its features after using it for so many years, I feel very extrange using any other FTP Client and would like to return to use FileZilla as I used to in the past.

I would appreciate any suggestion/s you could give me and if you need further explanation, questions or whatever, please, do not hesitate to let me know.

Best regards, Lautaro.
