#5595 | Keyboard navigation on directory panel | new | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client
Description |
Since a former update (maybe FileZilla 3), the possibility of jumping to a location on the directory tree by pressing a letter on the keyboard has been lost. I suspect that is has been lost on the local directory panel first, and now on the distant directory panel as well. Note that it is still preserved on the file list panels. The possibility of navigating using the keyboard is important for users like me who appreciate "mouseless" fast interaction. |

On Windows Filezilla startup or connection to a site where the default local directory configured in Site Manager is not available Filezilla hangs for minutes while OS attempts access. As to my knowledge the timeout is enforced by Windows I humbly request some means of flagging off/on Filezilla attempting to open the directory configured in Site Manager for all My Sites. Eg. At office and connected to NAS/mapped drives. USE DLD -> ON At home and NOT connected to NAS/mapped drives. USE DLD -> OFF A previous ticket, not mine: #1315 |

#5611 | tab display - blank space, widths, info | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
A minor issue... When many tabs are open, FZ indicates unseen tabs to the left or right by means of a little arrow. (Aside: This arrow is grayed out when at the end of the list, but I'd prefer a much lighter shade of gray, as mine appears nearly black.) Open a bunch of tabs, so that there are many unseen tabs to the left. Now close the rightmost tabs. Instead of unseen tabs coming into view from the left, blank space remains where the now-closed tabs formerly sat. Only when the last visible tab to the right is closed is a set of leftward tabs then brought into view. It would be nicer to maximize the number of viewable tabs as each is closed. On the issue of maximizing the view, it would also be nice to be able to set the width (in characters) of the tab, in case a user can tolerate more, but shorter, tabs. Finally, it would be great to have a customizable tab display using formatted fields, as with date and time, by creating a spot at Settings/Interface/Tabs. Presently, the display is of the form "Sitename - Server" (perhaps this might be indicated by a format string "%n - %s", e.g.). My server is always the same, so I have a lot of wasted characters on my tabs. For me, "Sitename-Remote folder" (%n-%r) would be far preferable, as I often wander from my original folder, leaving me several tabs with the same display, open to different folders. Long info could appear in the dropdown widget at the right (I love that thing), while compressed versions can be shown on the tabs (e.g., "FaveSite-.../Here/Now"). This is the sort of request that shows a user is spoiled rotten, which in turn indicates the already excellent state of a program. Thanks, Rick Mabry |

#5618 | After Action Queue Completion - Remove Remote File | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client

#5622 | One click file backup | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I just thought about how often do we have to do backups, and it's actually pretty routine process, you have to copy file to your server, rename it, edit with w.e. you want and then upload it back. What i suggest is adding an option to context menu, which with one click will make a backup file on server (same folder as the source file is located), it will copy the file with name like 'filename_bak.php'. This will make more people do backups. |

#5666 | File Mask feature | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Please add a new File Mask feature for each open session to allow display of files based on masking pattern. This new feature should be directly available on the session interface, not buried in the menu. One placement option is right next to the Site directory box. In a directory where there may be hundreds of files, this feature will be very handy to reduce the long list of files displayed and can help quickly locate them. The existing Filename Filters is a good feature, but cannot handle random filename selection as quickly and easily as a File Mask. A typical file mask example can be found on WS-FTP client. I have to switch to WS-FTP every time when I need to use the file mask feature. Thank-you. |

#5676 | Shortcut CMD+ARROW_DOWN on MacOSX | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Summary: The shortcut CMD+ARROW_DOWN on the Mac should open files and directories, instead of transferring files. Description: On Mac OsX, when the CMD and ARROW_DOWN key are pressed, the selected file will be downloaded. Everywhere else on the Mac, CMD+ARROW_DOWN is used to open the highlighted file or to enter the highlighted directory. I've made this mistake numerous times, to accidentally enqueue thousands of files from the server, when I just wanted to open a directory. This is particularly frustrating because on the Mac, the interface basically hangs while transfers are in progress, so there is no way to stop it. |

#5685 | File Filters: Add More Dates Options (ie: Files Modified TodaY) | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I think that would be very useful to have the possibility to filter "all the files that have been modified Today", where today is not a date "as 2010-11-12" but is the actual date: i was editing something last night filtering all the files edited on 2010-11-12. After midnight all the file disappeared (after midnight it was already 2010-11-13). It took a while to understand that that was the reason (I was very tired) but the point is that I have to change that filter every day! While using a filter that allows to set dates as: + modified today + modified this week + modified last week + ... it would be faster (just set it ony the first time and it would last forever). |

#5690 | Better way to display errors | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Whenever you carry out actions through Filezilla, it's difficult to see if there were errors. For example if you selected 20 files to delete but only 19 were successfully deleted, how do you know? An error flashes past on the message log but you'll almost certainly miss it. The same goes for a lot of operations. Even with transfers it's easy to miss the "Failed Transfers" tab. You should replace the message list and transfer panels with one single operations panel, showing you the things being done, and if they were successful. Perhaps with important lines such as errors bubbling to the top. The message list is pretty useless for 99% of the time. I mean, how is "Command: PASV" or "Response: 226-Options: -a -l" useful to most people? |

#5701 | Uploading large file fails, strange progress bar behavior | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I've seen this problem with several servers: when uploading a large file (e.g. 20 MB), FileZilla seems to starts uploading and then it's instantly at 100% (upload speed specifying 10 or 20 MB/s which isn't even possible with my connection). Then it waits for a while (I think it is now in fact uploading actual data, even though it indicated it was already at 100%). Then after a while it either says it's finished, but the file is uploaded only partially most of the time. Or it says "are you sure want to overwrite?" and then showing a smaller destination file (which didn't exist previously), i.e. it uploaded the file partially and now wants to restart, asking to overwrite the existing remote file (remote file = the part which it just uploaded). Here's an FTP account in which I can reproduce this problem almost every single time: host = ftpes://ftp.servage.net name = test86413 pasw = Test123 server type: FTPES (explicit TLS/SSL) (using default port 21) I've just tested again with v3.3.5 (windows client), and it happened every attempt when I upload a 20 MB file. I've seen this before with other servers as well, but this is the first time it occurs on a server on which I can easily make a test account for you to debug with. Hope this helps!! |

#6194 | Proxy Import Problem | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hey, In your newest version of FileZilla Client (3.3.5.1) and also in the previous version (3.3.4.1) there is this bug. But in version 3.3.3 it works. The problem appears when i try to import FTP-servers and proxy-settings by using the import function under the drop-down-menu „File“. The import of the FTP-Servers works great but the imported Proxy-Settings get lost after restarting FileZilla. The problem is on the following settings; the “FTP Proxy” and also the “Generic proxy”. Some experiments have shown that the new settings won’t be stored in the filezilla.xml (%appdata%\FileZilla\filezilla.xml). By typing in the Proxy Settings manually it will work, but not by importing the settings via the import-feature. I have discovered and tested this problem with Windows 7 Enterprise x64 once on a Intel core 2 duo and once on a virtual machine on my PC via WMware Player and a third time I tested it in a virtual machine inside of an ESX-Server always with Windows 7 Enterprise x64 -> every time the same problem. I hope you can fix the problem. If you need further information, just tell me! Cadenas |

#6199 | sending files directly from explorer and have the link copyed automatically | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, I'am a speaker that produces from hit's own studio, and often I use filezilla client to put my files onto the ftp and send the link via email to my customers. I've been thinking in a facility to send files directly from explorer and copying the destination link into the clipboard. I imagine this: by selecting one or more files, when I click "send to ftp" from the folder context menu', filezilla compresses all the files in a single zip and then send it to an ftp, into a folder that follows the local disk folder structure. For example, if the file that I have to send is in c:\recordings and is called 1.mp3, I click on 1 with the right mouse button from the folder windows, I select "send to ftp" and it compress and then uploads the file in a folder called recordings, without showing windows. After the process is complete, the http destination link (partially defined by the user) is copied onto the clipboard and a beep or a popup can warn the user about the successful operation. This adds to filezilla the capability of compressing files that is present into other softwares, and 2 to me is a very useful facilityto send link to files via email, like dropbox but with a own domain or server. Can it be done? |

#6496 | Limit number of downloads by file volume | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi! FileZilla has an option to limit the number of files uploaded/downloaded at a time. Though very useful, this does not always meet factual requirements. In the case that I download or upload large files (e.g. a server backup), I would like to transmit only one or two at a time. Same for downloading. While, when up/downloading many small files (e.g. html files) then the overhead takes much time and I would like to start a lot of transfers at a time. Therefore I request the feature to additionally limit the number of file transfers by file size, e.g. "Limit concurrent downloads to [1] GB". So if I usually would like to limit to 5 files, but FileZilla find two files of 500 MB then it shall wait with further downloads until one of them has been transferred. Thanks for reading :) |

#6506 | Local Site or Remote Site Cardex Ability | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I am using Win-7/64 Professional. I have version 3.3.5.1 installed. Description: When I click in the Local Site or Remote Site list areas and press a key on the keyboard to go to that letter of the directory, nothing happens, I am not advanced to that letter of the directory. However, in the FileName lists, the cardex functionality does work and pressing a keyboard letter does take me to that filename or folder letter. What It should Do: I think that the functionality in the FileName list is correct. You click in that file name area and type a letter of the file or folder that you want to jump to and it takes you there. The Local Site / Remote Site lists should behave the same way. I would think that the code to do this is already done and in the FileName area of the code. Perhaps make that a function to call from any of the list-box areas for cardex behavior. Other Examples: Windows Explorer behaves correctly Thank you for your time. |

#7197 | Auto-refresh remote file listing when transferring | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I tried to download a file from my FTP server when another user had finished uploading it. FileZilla still showed a file size of 12 MB because I hadn't refreshed it, so for the actual download of 20 MB it took "more than 100%". Maybe FZ should automatically refresh the file listing before estimating download times. |

Description |
On the left panel I have opened files from my PC, on the right panel I have FTP files from server. When I change or rename any files in my PC with my HTML editor and save them back on my PC, the files on the left panel in Filezilla remains unchanged as they were before - with old filename and not ordered by date of change untill I refresh the panel. I need to reopen my directory in filezilla or refresh to see the changed files. Is it possible to sort the files automatically when they are changed? For example Total Commander works with automatic refresh - when I change any file, the file is automatically changed on opened list too. |

#7199 | Opens in Previous Extended Desktop Location After Monitor Orientation Change | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
The situation is that I use a laptop at multiple locations with an external monitor and extended desktop (not mirrored). One of the locations the orientation of the external monitor is to the right of the laptop and the other location has the external monitor above the laptop. With the monitor specified to the right, I open Filezilla and drag it to the external monitor. Closing and then opening Filezilla will cause it to open in the extended monitor. If I now close Filezilla and either change the relationship so that the external monitor is above the laptop or move to the other location, and then open Filezilla, the Filezilla window will open in the non-existent right hand extended desktop. In order to rectify, I need to to change the orientation so that the external monitor is specified to the right and then drag Filezilla back to the laptop. Other apps open in the laptop screen after the orientation change. To reproduce: 1)using an external monitor specified as extended desktop and side by side, open Filezilla in the main window and move to external monitor. 2) Close Filezilla 3) Change orientation of monitors so that the external monitor is above main desktop. 4) open Filezilla 5) Filezilla will open in the previous location and cannot be seen. 6) change orientation of monitors to be side by side and Filezilla will be displayed. |

#7216 | compare files before edit | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I work on servers with multiple developers and we don't have a good solution in place for that. A great feature would be when you click the edit button it compares the date of your local file to the date of the remote file and if the remote file is newer than the local file it brings up a prompt and asks you if you want to download the remote file before editing. This should have an ability to turn this on or off in settings. Thanks for the great product! |

#7220 | Add row of navigation buttons above both local and remote listings | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
It would be massively useful to have a row of navigation buttons above side of the listings. These would include, but perhaps not be limited to: Up, Back, Up-To-Root-Of-Listing (i.e. the FZ entry point for this session, not the root of the folder/directory structure), Refresh. Often I have listings on each side that are hundreds of files long. I have gone most of the way down one or both sides. To get back to the top or to the containing folder/directory, I have to slide up or page up or something on each side. When using many times a day, it adds up to a lot of unnecesssary mousing around. |

#7227 | Directory and filename parsing issues with OSX machine bound to Active Directory | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have a PC running Windows and an Intel iMac running Leopard (10.5.8) which is bound to Active Directory for user authentication. SSH was enabled via the "Sharing" Preference Pane (aka Remote Login). When I use FileZilla to SFTP into the Mac, it incorrectly parses the folder and file names. Specifically, the "Group" name seems to be throwing it off. I've attached an example of what I see in the File and Folder panes in FileZilla. If I attempt to double-click on, say, the Desktop folder to open it I get: Error: "Directory /Users/hunters/advanced administrators 1054 Mar 1 14:01 Desktop: no such file or directory". I can provide more information if it helps. Have also verified that the Mac version of Filezilla client also has this bug. |

#7232 | sftp implementation presumes a fixed size buffer of 32KB for transfer of data to client | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
If the server does not return exactly 32KB of data the following error is generated: error while reading: received a short buffer from FXP_READ, but not at EOF - The specific issue is around line 1331 of sftp.c. There is a rather broad comment on 1289 in which the developer was unsure how to handle a short read. - The RFC is a bit fuzzy in describing this case (section 8.2.1): " However, the server MAY respond with less data if EOF is reached, an error is encountered, or the servers internal buffers can not handle such a large request. " I believe the key point is "MAY respond with less if the servers internal buffer cannot handle such a large request" is sufficient broad that the client should not assume that fewer than 'length' bytes is indeed EOF or an error. - I'm unsure about windows API; but for variants of UNIX (including linux) this closely follows the read API in which the implementation is free to return fewer than N bytes (hence the return values indicate the number of bytes read). While typically synchronous reads will indeed return N bytes they are not required to do so. - Anyways we ran into this issue when the server did in fact return fewer bytes and the client (filezilla) abruptly exited. - Following the above convention we believe the loop should be written as: while(toread > 0 ) {
} rather than while(toread > 0 ) {
} - Here is the code from the standard linux sftp.c client: - code to actually read the data: while (total_read < buffer_maxlen) { bytes_requested = buffer_maxlen - total_read; *(s++) = SSH_FXP_READ;
. . retcode = _libssh2_channel_write(channel, 0, (char *) packet,
retcode =
. . case SSH_FXP_DATA:

#7234 | Number of connections to set per server | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
The number of simultanious connections to any given server should be settable individually per destination server. #7235 | Round-robin distribute queued transfers to multiple servers | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client

When the queue of transfers contains transfers that are destined to or from more than one server, it would be more optimal to process the transfers in such an order that the different servers would be used in a round-robin fashion. Parallelism can thus be increased without increasing the number of simultaneous connections to any given server. |

#7237 | Upload to Temporary Filename | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi! I would like to recommend a feature to upload files using a temporary filename and thn rename the files after the queue is completed. Okay, this sounds a bit strange at first glance. So let me explain why this feature would be very worthy: I have a PHP web application that is used nearly 24h a day. Whenever fixing a bug or uploading a new subversion, PHP uses the incomplete files and - consequently - the script crashes. If a file would be uploaded to a temporary name, first, and then replace the original file in a second step, there would be no incomplete files in the program structure. If this was possible for whole queues, even the time when there are files from different program version, could be reduced by about 95%. I admit that for citical systems, one would upload the whole application into a temporary folder and then rename the folder manually. However, for most not-so-critical applications, the upload-to-temp would be very helpful. For citical systems the manual step (provoking handling errors) would become superfluous. Thank you BurninLeo |

#7241 | config option to select a private keyfile from pageant per server | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Actually filezilla seems to accept only the private keyfile stored in the default settings from putty. The log shows that it checks only this one and not all keys added to pageant - so I always have to change putty's default settings if I want to access a server with a different keyfile. It will be more convenient to allow the preselection of the keyfile in the servermanager for each account separately. Maybe this could be achieved in a similar way like pscp which accepts a commandline like this one which I use from a perl script to update a file directly from an SciTE or Geany: pscp.exe -i keyfile -l user "localpath" host:remotepath. If the keyfile is loaded in pageant it will be used without an additional passphrase request. |

#7246 | Speed Limits icon distorted without 48x48 version | new | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client
Description |
If a theme does not include a 48x48 pixel icon set, then the speed limit icon will be distorted when opening the Speed Limits dialogue (see screenshot). A current work around for this is to use the 48x48 icon set from the classic theme if a 48x48 icon is not present for a theme used i.e. minimal or cyril. It would be much better if Filezilla could automatically detect that the theme does not have a 48x48 icon set and fall back to the classic theme speed limit icon. Alternative ideas:
This is currently only on Windows (daily build 2011-03-16 used) as linux versions fall back to the classic speed limit icon as expected. |

#7259 | File Date/Time Preservation Again | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Good Morning: I've read the previous posts, and I do realize that the default FTP protocol does not support file date/time preservation. I also realize that not all FTP servers support MDTM. The problem is that if an updated file is uploaded to a web server only one short minute after it's been saved, FileZilla's compare-by-date feature is rendered useless because the uploaded file will have a later time stamp. For those of us who do use web/ftp servers that do support MDTM, and I'm sure there are many, *please* reconsider adding this feature to FileZilla. If file date/time preservation was among FileZilla's many other features, it would be the *perfect* FTP program, in my opinion. |

#7290 | if deepest directory in local pane is deleted, filezilla should try parent directory recursively before defaulting to filesystem root | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla remembers the local directory path from the last time you ran FileZilla. But if the deepest local directory is deleted, it instead defaults to the filesystem root, which I think is far from optimal. Let's say that the last local directory was: /home/username/Desktop/example.com/store/ And some time between closing FileZilla and opening it again, you delete the "store" directory. FileZilla's current behavior is to set the local path to filesystem root: / Whereas I think it would be a lot nicer if FileZilla placed the user in the closest parent directory possible, in this case: /home/username/Desktop/example.com/ |

#7301 | Uninstall shortcut | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Please can you refrain from creating uninstaller shortcuts in the start menu with future installers. The purpose of the start menu is for shortcuts for accessing/running applications, not for performing maintenance on them. In the same way it would be a bad idea to clutter the desktop with them, wouldn't it! Placing them in the start menu adds clutter and it makes them more accessible to novice users who often need protecting from themselves, increasing the burden on those that may maintain their computers for them - either because we have to answer questions about what the hell it is that they've just opened, or actually having to reinstall software. It also discourages novices from exploring the applications available to them in their start menu when such things clutter it and provide potential pitfalls. It is much better that uninstallers for all programs are kept in one central location - within the uninstall software page of the control panel. |

#7321 | Binary instead of ASCII transfer of text files from Windows to Unix servers | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Using a Windows Filezilla (3.4.0) client, transferring ASCII files to Unix based servers (over secure port 22) are transferred as BINARY. This is the same as reported in ticket #5378. I understand the developer's argument made in #5378 (the protocol doesn't support it) -- but my request is to have the FileZilla client strip the <control>-M's from the blob before transferring to the server. This is seemingly trivial to implement (look at dos2unix source). As noted in the other bug report, other clients (such as WinSCP, just tested) are able to transfer these files correctly. Please reconsider #5378, and fix this bug (even if you want to call it a feature). |
