#4108 Disconnects resetting the elapsed time stat. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Is there any reason why disconnects should reset the elapsed time?

It would make sense for a user-initiated disconnect to reset the timer, but server timeouts / auto-reconnects should not reset the timer. This resetting basically makes the elapsed time stat useless, especially for transferring large files.

Maybe this should also be a feature request to have this as a changeable option for the user?

#8461 Directory tree view is not refreshed after dragging folders. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

CONDITIONS: Create 2 folders, e.g. TEST1 and TEST2. Use directory tree pane to drag TEST2 onto the TEST1 folder. As when trying to move a folder inside another folder. Although the folder TEST2 is successfully moved to TEST1 using this approach, the TEST2 folder's icon will still remain where it was. Resulting in seemingly 2 TEST2 folders. (please reference the submitted image).

When this happens, slicking 'Refresh' will not help as long as the original TEST2 folder icon is highlighted.

#12157 Directory tree size not saving new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The sizes of the directory trees keep reverting to default after few days. It doesn't happen every time, for example if I just close FileZilla and then open it up again.

#11482 Directory tree is clumsy to browse reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If I have a slow connection to server, browsing the directory tree is very troublesome. If I want to go to certain path I already know, I need to wait every parent directory to load first so that I can expand their children. So I need to click twice and wait between. Usually this is avoided by allowing expanding unknown directory. After the directory has been loaded arrow can be hidden.

Browsing is also clumsy when I sometimes click wrong directory accidentally. Then I need to wait it to load before I can open the directory which I wanted. The previous directory retrieving should be cancelled if user changes directory during the operation.

With these changes browsing would be way faster also with a slow connection.

#8590 Directory listing with proftpd mod_sftp reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

Here is my problem. When I do Directory Listing of an SFTP Server running ProFTPD 1.3.4b with mod_sftp 0.9.8, I see Filezilla Client 3.5.3 reporting me that there are some directories whose name are including their last writing date : "avril 8 14:48 <directory name>"

I checked the same server with Windows client version, Linux Client version : it's the same problem.

I checked with WinSCP client under Windows and all is OK. I checked with the last version of proftpd 1.3.4c and the problem still appear with FileZilla Client

I want to say that during last month, everything was OK with proftpd 1.3.4b/Mod_sftp 0.9.8 versions.

I checked sftp with openssh soft and everything is OK.

But, the difference I noticed is that with the same host, running directory listing under mod_sftp returns me a list of files whose date are in french (eg : 'avril' for the 4th month) whereas with openssh, the same directory listing returns me a list of files with a date in english (eg : Apr for the 4th month).

Can you confirm me that there is a FilleZilla issue ?

#12454 Directory listing from server doesn't recognize deleted server files new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When a directoy listing has been transferred from server to client, all files and directories are displayed. After that a file got removed from the server. When I read the directory listing once more from server to client, the alread deleted file is still there. Only when I shut down the FileZilla client and start it once more, I make it that the directory listing on client reflects the actual situation without the deleted file.

This should happen without a necessary restart of the FileZilla client

#11993 Directory listing cap error new Bug report critical FileZilla Client
Description

When viewing directories on remote server where over 10,000 files often caps off just below the 10k mark. Went in circles looking for missing files until I realised I wasn't getting the full listing. Can't see an option for max length so I can only assume its a cap error.

#7737 Directory listing "updates backwards" new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I upload a file to the server, the file list on the server directory updates according the new upload. But when I click the button "Update Directory and file listing", the list on the server "goes back" to the previous list.

If I log out and log in again, the list is correct, but if I click that button again, the previous list goes back again.

The listing of the local side is always correct.

MyFileZilla version is 3.5.1 and operation system Windows Professional XP Sp 3 (version 5.1)

#7906 Directory list should support pressing first letter new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It´s already possible in the file list to press the first letter of an item you want to go to (instead of clicking with the mouse).

Would be great if this also worked in the directory list.

#9085 Directory list parsing incorrect using SFTP new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

#2191 Directory drag & drop option reopened Tim Kosse Feature request high FileZilla Client
Description

We find it very dangerous the ability to move folders in the remote pane without asking for a confirmation. It would be nice to have a option that the user can check in order to ask for the confirmation.

Update:

There are two possibilities:

  • ask the user for confirmation
  • disable drag and drop
#7227 Directory and filename parsing issues with OSX machine bound to Active Directory new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

I have a PC running Windows and an Intel iMac running Leopard (10.5.8) which is bound to Active Directory for user authentication. SSH was enabled via the "Sharing" Preference Pane (aka Remote Login). When I use FileZilla to SFTP into the Mac, it incorrectly parses the folder and file names. Specifically, the "Group" name seems to be throwing it off. I've attached an example of what I see in the File and Folder panes in FileZilla. If I attempt to double-click on, say, the Desktop folder to open it I get:

Error: "Directory /Users/hunters/advanced administrators 1054 Mar 1 14:01 Desktop: no such file or directory".

I can provide more information if it helps. Have also verified that the Mac version of Filezilla client also has this bug.

#11395 Directory Tree Column Sort Order Arrow doesn't toggle properly on Mac new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I'm using FZ 3.27.1 on Mac OS X 10.12.6.

It's hard to say exactly what the problem is, but the key thing is the v / ^ arrow doesn't always correctly reflect the actual ordering being shown. In general, the ordering appears to be working. When I click on a column to sort it, the data gets sorted correctly, however the arrow doesn't always appear on the first click and when it does appear, it doesn't always toggle with every click.

In order to reproduce, try the following: # Log in to FTP site (i'm logging in via FTP to an IBM i Mainframe) # Sort the rows in the remote tree (Last Modified, FIle Size, etc.) This appears to work consistently # Change directory # Try sorting again. this is where it falls down. The arrow doesn't appear on a column on first click and then doesn't toggle after the second click.

#12917 Directory Listing includes date as part of filename (again) new Bug report blocker FileZilla Client
Description

Hi, I've just setup vsftpd 3.0.3 on Astra Linux server and trying to connect to it from Kubuntu 23.04 with FileZilla 3.63.0.

I'm able to connect, able to create a dir with name 1 in the empty folder, but when I'm refreshing the dir listing I'm getting a wrong dir names. They include a month and date along with a real dir name.

The dirs are created on server side with proper names. I can access them via the terminal.

ls -l on server side returns:

$ ls -l drwx------ 2 ftp ftp 4096 мая 3 13:47 1 drwx------ 2 ftp ftp 4096 мая 3 13:51 2

there are two folders: 1 and 2 created on may 3. Locale is russian.

The Filezilla screenshot is attached.

#12573 Directory Listing Failure new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been running FileZilla for many years with any major issues, but when I upgraded from 3.56.1 to 3.56.2 FileZilla Become unusable in my circumstances. I attempted to find and reinstall 3.56.1 so FileZilla would be viable to me again, but after a long search it seems like it no longer exists on the world wide web in binary install format. The directory listing window will not display folders nor files, except one just downloaded in the only the root folder of the selected drive. Can not even navigate drive C. Issue was first noticed on other drive letters, namely, drive B an internal SSD, and drive E an USB 3.0 SSD. Please provide access to 3.56.1 so that I can use FileZilla. Please correct the issue in next release so I can stay on most recent. Please provide a way to disable auto-updates so I can operate quickly until issues is corrected. Thank you.

#5142 Directory Comparison disabled when deleting remote directories new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When FileZilla Client 3.3.1 deletes a remote directory, it disables the folder comparison feature but doesn't re-enable it afterwards.

When this feature needs to be disabled, Filezilla should remember the status of this feature and re-set it after completing the task.

#8916 Directory Comparison Untoggles after Remote Site Folder Delete new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When you have directory comparison toggled ON and delete a folder from the remote site panel the directory comparison untoggles itself.

Expected behavior would be to keep directory comparisons toggled ON.

#5461 Directory Comparison Not Reporting Properly For File Size reopened Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have been using Cute FTP for a long time, but wanted to try FileZilla. Cute FTP also has a directory comparison feature. When comparing files by file size, I have no problem with Cute FTP. However FileZilla marks all my files as different. This might be because of the way the file is stored in Linux compared to Windows.

For example, 788KB size file on my local Windows machine is 763KB on the Linux server. But the files have identical content. Cute FTP reports the files as the same ( as it should ), but FileZilla reports them as different, which may be technically correct, but is also useless.

So I suspect that Cute FTP is taking into account the way the files are stored in its comparison algorithm, while FileZilla is not. Cute FTP also has a checkbox for "Ignore Letter Case". Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I'm not sure how to classify this issue. Maybe a bug or patch request. Either way, no matter how it is done, it would be nice if FileZilla would compare the files in a manner that determined if the file content is different or not ( because that is the point of the exercise ).

Date comparisons are not sufficient for this. File size works well, but there may also be other ways.

I can duplicate this issue all day and send screen shots of both CUTE FTP and FileZilla doing exactly the same task, where FileZilla is all salmon red ( indicating different ) and Cute FTP is normal, indicating no differences ( as it should ). Screen shots are attached.

Also, when Cute FTP identifies different files, it pre-selects them so that you can simply drag them as a group over to the other side. That would be a really handy feature.

Apart from these issues, FileZilla seems excellent, and once these issues are resolved, I would be happy to send a donation and reccommend that others do the same, as well as post a link for it on my website.

Thanks

#12511 Directory Comparison - add ability to change colors? new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

I love the directory comparison feature, but I don't use it much as I'd like because the colors are hard for me to look at for long.

Wondering if it would be possible in a future release to allow user to change the opacity on the colors.

e.g. in this image I took the colors and set the opacity to 20% which is much easier on my eyes.

If each user could set that in their own preferences, that'd be fantastic. :0)

#7863 Directory Caching new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I am a huge fan of Filezilla and I use it everyday on my windows pc.

One thing that I noticed that is missing from Filezilla is the directory caching feature. I connect to my server several times a day and its a huge waste of bandwidth to retrieve the file listing everytime, not to mention the wastage of time.

I would really like to see Filezilla give an option to cache directory listing.

#12552 Directories not created when FTPing to samba share new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Filezilla client version 3.56.0 64 bit for windows 10 I attempted to download a directory structure into a samba share on a linux machine running Ubuntu 20:04. I got many failures - can't open a file for writing. Investigation showed that the file's immediate parent directory did not exist. In think what is happening is that the directory create is not written to the disk immediately and the following transfer of files in that directory therefore fails. A bit of the log follows.

#12145 Dialogue boxes extremely slow on Mac, 3.47.2.1 new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

When displaying any dialogue box (e.g. Settings, Site Manager), there is a lag of 3-5 seconds after making any selection within them, including Ok and Cancel.

This is not occurring in the main window.

This is not new; it has been occurring for a long time in FileZilla (> 1 year). I'm on macOS 10.14.6. (No other app behaves this way.)

#12700 Developer ego induced bottleneck over high latency long range wifi network new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

Hi. I am attempting to use Filezilla to transfer immensely large numbers of infinitesimally small files over a long range wifi network with incredibly high latency. I am aware of the developer stance of "If you feel you need more than 10 connections, there's something wrong with your internet connection.". Yes, my internet connection is utterly fu%%ed. That's the nature of long range agricultural IoT systems that at least one developer at Filezilla cannot seem to comprehend the potential existence of.

In case you don't believe me, here is a video that shows the bottleneck. Many connections are in a pending state, or a low speed state, because it takes time to initiate the connection and to start transmitting at maximum speed. Connecting multiple filezilla clients to the server so that there are 20 connections increases the transfer speed almost a full 100%.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1HwNOOOk-Q

Now, please, for the love of god, can you allow the max simultaneous file transfers parameter to be set to any user defined number rather than the hard cap of 10 so that my speeds are not arbitrarily limited by the ego of some Filezilla developer I will not name? Or at least limit to 32 to take advantage of my NVME (that's a new fancy storage device: imagine 32 hard drives in raid 0. Yeah i know, wild what these young whippersnappers are putting together these days, huh?) Thank you immensely.

If not, I will be forced to upgrade my company to another FTP software that does not place such ridiculous and arbitrary limitations on an otherwise almost unlimited application, solely because of the developers ego.

Thank you for your generous consideration.

Previous ticket on the issue for reference:

https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/5062#:~:text=This%20limit%20is%20intentional.,wrong%20with%20your%20internet%20connection.

#10798 Description within installer executable and FileZilla executable new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Would it be possible to get a change made to the text within the fields of the executables? The change I'd recommend is to modify the FileZilla installer's Product Description to "Filezilla FTP Client Installer", instead of leaving it as "FileZilla FTP Client".

The reason that I am requesting this change is that I work for a company that makes a product that allows you to elevate applications, installers, scripts, msc consoles etc. based upon the criteria of the application being opened, rather than giving the users themselves administrator rights.

The scenario I have here is that both the FileZilla installer and the Filezilla FTP Client executable have identical information - this means that we cannot use this information to allow the installer to elevate, but keep the actual FTP client running as a standard user (in order to maintain the principal of least privilege on customer endpoints).

The only workaround I have at the moment is to allow elevation whenever the following fields are spotted in an executable: Publisher: Open Source Developer, Tim Kosse Product Description: FileZilla FTP Client Product Name: FileZilla This would elevate any app meeting this criteria, and is not ideal as the FileZilla client doesn't require admin rights - only the installer does.

#7813 Deliting files recursively SFTP new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

I was just wondering if you couldn't change how FileZilla deletes files recursively but also CHMOD as this is pretty much the same thing. If you mark a folder and press delete, FZ scans the folders content and deletes the files one at a time. When using SFTP I am sure that the fastest solution would be "rm -r FOLDER" The same thing goes for CHMOD where Linux incorporates a recursive function into the command too. "chmod -R FOLDER" So everytime I delete a folder I am thinking "Why am I wasting my time on this, when I could do it 100 times quicker on SSH?"

#10797 Deletion of Downloaded Update File new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

After FileZilla Client does an update check (either automatically or manually) and determines that an update is needed, it downloads the update file to the %DOWNLOADS% folder. You can then choose to run the Update file and patch the Client software. It will close and reopen when completed. At this point though, the file that was downloaded is still in the %DOWNLOADS% directory. There is no benefit to leaving this file behind once the upgrade has taken place. Even if the upgrade fails, another copy can/will be downloaded if you allow the client software to initiate the update process for you. It would make for a cleaner installation to simply delete/purge the file instead of leaving it (and however many other copies of updates) in the Downloads folder, where some unsavvy PC users might never see them to delete them.

#11449 Deletion does not resume after server disconnects new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have a folder on my ftp server that contains thousands of files and some subfolders. I want to delete this folder and accidentally the server disconnects. Filezilla automatically re-connects, but does not resume the deletion because it finds not empty directories that can not be deleted. It seems it skipped the file deletion and so it is not able to finish the deletion.

#2924 Deleting several directories simultaniously new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

This is at the same time an improvement request and a bug. Right now, when you delete one directory, it is not possible to delete another until the first deletion is done.

It could be nice to be able to delete several directories at the same time from the directory tree window... And that the directory tree window does not follow the deletion during the time it occurs.

#6492 Deleting a symbolic link removes the linked directory content instead of deleting itself new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

When attempting to delete a symbolic link on a linux server, filezilla 3.3.5.1 deletes the content of the directory pointed by the symbolic link links to and does not delete the symbolic link itself.

Tbhis is totally unexpected : FileZilla acts the opposite of the rm command.

The expected behaviour is to have the rm command equivalent :

When deleting a symbolic link, it should just delete the symbolic link.

If you delete a group that is assigned to users it will ask you to either assign it to a new group or delete the affected user accounts. The cancel button is in German ans says "Abbrechen" my system is in English so I would say this is a bug.

#11539 Delete capacity moreinfo Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Not possible to delete one shot more than 4000 files. When you have to delete more than 4000 files, Filezilla will stop between 3000 and 4000. To erase more, you need to wait or disconnect and wait the synchronisation. It is painful when you have 10000 or more files to erase (storage of security ipcam images for instance). Thanks for helping here as it is time consuming.

#7907 Delay loading of file list when going through directories new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I sometimes use the cursor keys to navigate in the remote directory list. Unfortunately, when I e.g. go down three directories, FileZilla loads the file list and when I´m already at the third item, FZ jumps back to the first directory.

To improve the handling of this, I propose that FZ only starts getting the file list after e.g. 100 ms. That way you can navigate with the cursor keys withouth FZ interrupting and you still won´t notice a lag when FZ starts to get the file list.

#3723 Define standard applications to OPEN files of certain types new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

For editing files you can define a standard editor. I would like to have that for viewing files as well. Didn´t find something like that in the existing tickets.

Background:

When I select "open" in the context menu of a text file (txt, log, dat, js, ...) on the local side always the Windows recommended/standard application is used to open this file even if there is a different application assigned in the Windows explorer file type options (Notepad2 in most cases).

Example: *.log

If you look that type up in Tools/Folder Options/File Types of the Windows explorer, you will find that the type shall be opened using Notepad2 which works on double clicks in the windows explorer. If you click on "Change", you probably see that the Windows Notepad is selected as default editor. This one is then used by FileZilla for some reason. But I want FileZilla to use Notepad2 as well (which is also defined as standard editor for editing files in my environment).

Other file types like *.js or *.html or *.bat could also require a different handler - especially html files shall not be opened in a browser but in a text editor when I try to open it from FileZilla - mostly I do not want to view but edit them before uploading it again, for instance to remove a typo.

If my writing not clear enough, please come back to me ;)

Best regards, Kristian

#4218 Default filter set for site profiles new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Within the Advanced tab of each Site Profile, provide an option to select a named "filter set". This should appear exactly like the Filter Set dropdown within the filter dialog, but should apply to a site immediately when switching to that site profile.

It becomes necessary for those of us that manage a lot of FTP sites to manually select different Filter Sets when switching to specific sites each time anyway, this would ensure that the correct filter set was applied automatically without having to remember to do so each time.

#4347 Default file exists action on Queued Files not selected upon succeding open of dialog box new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

I noticed this while I was trying to fix my problem with bug #4346 http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/4346.

I know this is a bug because if I remember right, this was working a couple of versions back.

What happens is (or rather what not happens), when you override the "Default file exists action" on the root of the list (the one with the ftp user/server name) and open it again, it will select again the "use default action" even though you have selected otherwise (for example "Skip").

I hope this get fixed because it gets confusing when your doing a lot of file uploads.

#6511 Default System Language new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

I'm somebody with some mixed language settings. Have my Region and Language set as follow: Format to Dutch Current location: the Netherlands. Keyboard and languages default is English (United States) - US Current language for non-Unicode programs: English (United States)

I did upgrade to filezilla 3.3.5.1 and have my settings to "Default system Language" but get my filezilla in Dutch instead of English what would be expected. Not a major issue just to let you know it doesn't work correctly.

#7954 Default Remote Directory sometimes fails if Default local directory is not found new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

When the local default directory was set to a directory on a non-existent, removable drive, the REMOTE default directory would fail with an error (in red) displaying "no such file or directory". This even failed with a copy and paste from the "Remote Site:" pulldown. No failure was noted for the local directory error. This also occurred in 3.3.4.1 so I immediately upgraded to 3.5.3 with the SAME results.

After modifying the local default to an existing directory, the remote default now works. Switching the local default back to the non-existent directory, to test this again, NOW the problem does NOT occur. (It appears that once the remote directory is accessed as a default, it appears to stay working.)

This occurred 12-15 times as I attempted to figure out what error I was making in the remote directory (It had to be something because there was an error each time. I slowly reduced the number iof subdirectory levels and finally attempted "/" which gave a failure as well. Each attempt was a "Connect" and "Abort" via the Site Manager.

I thought that I had done something wrong on the remote default, somehow, but when I PASTED the result and it still failed, I was perplexed. Yes, I checked for trailing spaces and even added a trailing "/" and removed it, yielding the SAME results. I thought it was a problem with symbolic references to a directory, but only after the LOCAL default directory was made to work did the remote directory work.

All I can say is that it failed several times, but now I know a workaround.

Therefore, I have lowered the priority of this bug, but created the ticket because it HAD happened. There is an easy workaround -- make sure the local directory works properly.

Even if nothing is changed, if someone else has the problem, they might find this workaround -- make sure the local directory exists.

#1861 Decrease Queue Bytes Remaining as File is Downloaded new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It would be nice if the queue byte remaining count went down as each file was downloaded. For example, if you have two 10 MB files in the queue, and the first file is 50% downloaded, the queue should show 15 MB remaining. As it is now, it will show 20 MB remaining until the first file is completely downloaded. With large files this can be very misleading, and a bit annoying. :)

#11284 Dangerous shortcut on OS X new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

There is a very dangerous shortcut on Mac that one would confuse with a very common MacOS Finder shortcut.

The combination is ⌘↓ (command + arrow down).

In MacOS Finder it is used to ENTER a directory. In Filezilla it is used to start uploading local directory or file to remote server immediately.

I just had a concrete case where my left side (local) cursor was on an important yet secret folder and the remote was a foreign server that definitely should not have my files.

So I started going into my secret local folder by pressing ⌘↓ but instead of entering the folder it started uploading my secret folder immediately. Fortunately I was quick enough to cancel the upload AND I had DELETE permissions on the remote side. Otherwise the consequences could have been quite serious.

For Windows user a lot of people used the shortcut key CTRL-X for cut and CTRL-V for paste. I have been using cut & paste in CuteFTP but in the FileZilla I didn't see any cut & paste feature. Please utilize the mv command for this feature. For instance, let say user want to move file1.rar from /public_html/xxx.com/ to /public_html/yyy.com/docs/ He can browse to the dir xxx.com then click file1.rar, press CTRL-X. FileZilla some how store the current path of file1.rar. Then user go to the yyy.com/docs/ dir, then press CTRL-V, Now FileZilla will store the current path then perform the mv command to move the file1 from the previous stored location to the new one.

#11023 Customize blacklist message "No connections allowed from your IP" new Feature request normal FileZilla Server
Description

Since we allow only whitelisted connections, I would like to customize the blacklist error message which is currently "550 No connections allowed from your IP"

In particular, I would like to include the IP number, something like this:

To access this server, please ask support@__.com to whitelist your IP which is xx.x.xx.x.

I think the IP number is important to aid troubleshooting. The log file does NOT record these blocked connections, and a user could be using a proxy server or IPv6 without realizing it.

Thanks!

#12334 Custom proxy configuration per site entry new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi guys,

I'm a big fan of Filezilla and I've been using it for years.

I'm working in a new role here and I have to deal with multiple VPNs to access multiple datacenter.

To do so, I run many small docker instance with their own VPN client and a socks proxy. Doing so, I avoid network collision and software limitation of running simultaneous VPN clients.

But, when times come to use Filezilla to access one of those machines via SFTP, I have to manually update the general settings 'Generic proxy' configuration of the client each time if I want to use a different socks proxy.

I would appreciate if Filezilla client can have a section in the 'Advanced' pane of each site definition to fill specific proxy configuration to use for a given site definition.

Currently the only option is 'Bypass proxy' but that doesn't make it in my case, since I want to use a proxy but an alternate one.

#12184 Custom filetype associations list is emptied after Filezilla update new Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

When you update Filezilla via the window that appears whilst using it, the content inside the "Custom filetype associations" textbox is sometimes lost. This has happened to me twice within the last month. When it first happened, I slowly repopulated it there and then but the most recent update has erased them again. I have not changed any settings recently that will affect this.

I wish I can provide steps to replicate this, however this doesn't happen on every update.

#12190 Custom File Associations deleted by automatic update. new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The Filezilla client automatic update feature suggested there was a new version today, so I allowed the process to continue. Once the automatic update completed, I checked the "Custom filetype associations" in Settings and found that it was empty. This happened on the last update, so I had saved a copy of the custom associations before allowing the update to proceed and was able to recover.

This is similar to bug report 5599 filed 10 years ago. No manual entry of verbs was required. Everything, including my recovery was done via point an click with the mouse. Custom file associations worked before the update, so this is not a use entry issue.

#7830 Custom Command "Site Trailingblanks" not working with z/OS FTP server new Bug report normal FileZilla Client

When the dataset is then downloaded in ASCII format, the blanks have been stripped.

#12085 Ctrl+Shift+Click behaves as Ctrl+Click for selection new Bug report critical FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • connect to a server
  • navigate to a folder on the server where you have at least a few files; let's say they are called "file1", "file2", ..., "file6" and they are sorted alphabetically
  • click on file1 (file1 gets selected)
  • Ctrl+Click on file3 (now file1 and file3 are selected)
  • Ctrl+Shift+Click on file6

Expected: Now file1 and files 3 to 6 should be selected. In other words, Ctrl+Shift+Click should add all files between the previously selected ones and the clicked one to the current selection.

Observed: Only file1, file3 and file6 are selected, as if I had ctrl+clicked on file6 without holding the Shift key

The expected behavior of ctrl+click, shift+click and ctrl+shift+click is a universal well-established convention in both Windows and Linux and if I'm not mistaken also Mac with some variation (perhaps cmd instead of ctrl). It's been literally years since the last time I've stumbled upon some application that doesn't adhere to it.

#9896 Create non-existent local folders when synchronized browsing new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When using synchronized browsing, if you navigate to a folder on the remote server that doesn't exist locally, the folder would be created locally (probably automatically). Or a prompt could appear asking the user if they would like the folder to be created.

Currently, when you navigate to a remote folder that doesn't exist locally (with synchronized browsing enabled), you get a warning:

FOLDER PATH does not exist or cannot be accessed. Disable synchronized browsing and continue changing the remote directory?

I think it would be much more intuitive for the local folder to be created automatically if it doesn't exist, or at least prompt the user to choose whether or not they would like it to be created.

If a prompt is the best way to go, I would recommend a setting be created to 'always create missing local folders', as it would get annoying to always have to click 'create folder'.

#12290 Create new file, in the local pane new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Does anyone else wish that it were possible to create a new file in the local pane? It’s something I find myself wanting to do for various reasons. For example, I have just retrieved some files from a server, and wanted to place a readme into the same directory. Or, I may want to create a local file first, enter some content, and only upload it when done.

It just seems like, since the option exists for the remote pane, it would make sense for it to also exist in the local pane.

(Granted, it would be inferior to Explorer’s (rather terrible) New menu, but for plain-text files, it would suffice, and even Word’s new file is 0 bytes, rather than pulled from a template.)

#12528 Could not connect to server new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I log in to FileZilla like I have before, it shows that it is attempting to connect, then shows the following Response: fzSftp started protocol_version=11 Command: open "0060100@…"22 Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity Error: Could not connect to server Status: Waiting to retry...

And then it starts all over again. I contacted our I.T. department who checked to see if it was a problem on our end, but it's still not working.

#7352 Cosmetic issue with error messages for on manual transfer dialog new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

FileZilla 3.5.0-rc2

On the manual transfer dialog there is a small cosmetic issue with some error messages shown when the user input is not correct. The messages just have generic title "Message".

In particular the messages shown in CManualTransfer::VerifyServer are affected.

#12135 Copy/paste from Windows folder to FTP folder new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Please! I'm use to this with other FTP software that I'm not using any longer and it would make it much quicker and easier, rather than having to manipulate window positions so I can drag & drop.

Not so important for me, but if you are also able to support copy/paste from FTP folder to a Windows folder then that would also be perfect.

I'm sure the same feature in Linux and other platforms would be appreciated.

#11534 Copy vs Move Cursor Icon during drag 'n drop new Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

When files are moved from folder-to-folder on a connected server, the cursor icon shows the Windows traditional "Copy" cursor. This is very deceiving because it actually NOT COPYING the file, its MOVING it. I have accidentally broken a number of websites because I thought I was copying a file, when I was actually moving it. The cursor types should be synchronized with Windows standards, which traditionally show a "+" cursor for copy, and an arrowed cursor for moving.

#10173 Copy quick connection parameters to fields new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Could you copy IP address, username, password and port to fields after choosing a connection from a quick connection list? It would be useful, after program start, when connecting to many devices with same login, just different IP addresses.

#6488 Copy full filename in local queue pane to clipboard new Feature request high FileZilla Client
Description

Wow! What a list of feature requests. Well this one is certainly not life and death!

It would be a nice feature to add 'Copy Filename to Clipboard' to the right-click popup menu for files in the processing queue.
