#7794 Transfer speed in transfer queue shows KB/s, MB/s, GB/s (etc.) ONLY, regardless of the preferences assigned EltonAhl Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

In FileZilla, it is possible to select in the preferences how file sizes are shown. If I select for example the IEC style (KiB = Kibibyte = 1024 Byte) instead the default "Byte" option (=no KB,MB,GB,etc. just Bytes), FileZilla applies this perfectly to everywhere where file size appear, EXCEPT when one file gets transferred. Then, in the transfer queue, the transfer speed of all is still shown in the "KB/s" (for example) format instead of the "KiB/s" format which I selected in the options. All other file size numbers are formatted as selected in the settings. It seems the shown transfer speed completely ignores my settings; it also shows "KB/s" if I selected to show only Bytes.

#10363 Offer more UTF-8 options for Quickconnect and Settings new Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit, SP1, 6.1.7601 Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version: 3.10.3 i686 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, SP1, 6.1.7601

Please offer more Charset settings for UTF-8/16 under "Settings" dialogue and for the Quickconnect bar to allow users to set a default behavior for all connections under Site Manager and on Quickconnect.

I often get a very long link such as ftp://ipaddress/dir1/dir2/dir3/etc which points to a directory with international filenames and the Quickconnect bar is best way to connect. However, it fails to enable UTF8 so I see garbage filenames. So I must Site Manager, but I must always change the "General - Host" field and often enable "Charset - Force UTF8" for every different different ftp link or IP address.

I am aware of "Upcoming Changes" in the Forums. https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=36597

#3893 File edit dialog: Live-update assigned Bruno Ramos Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Right-click a file, and click "View / Edit".
  2. Open the menu File -> Show files currently being edited...
  3. Click on the file we had selected for editing before, and click "Upload and unedit".

Note that the file remains in the status "Uploading..." and is never removed from the list. If I close the dialog and attempt to re-open it, FileZilla tells me there are no files to edit.

It should instead remove the file from the list, and, if I shouldn't have the dialog open when there are no more files to edit, it should pop the same alert as when I tried to open the dialog when no files were being edited.

I set this to low priority because FileZilla does not crash, and it's hard, if not impossible, to actually crash it through this bug. I also set it to Windows, but it may apply to other operating systems as well.

#1605 optionally show passwords in Site Manager and in Quickconnect reopened Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I would like to have an option to NOT hide the passwords in sitemanager. I know this is a security risk and of course the default should be hidden, but in my case my accounts are not that super classified. By showing passwords in the sitemanager I will have a "personal database" (or address book if you like) of my ftp- accounts, and if I need to use another program or in any other way use an account outside of FileZilla, I can always look to FileZilla for the correct account-information. Otherwise I would have to look for the account-information in mails, hardcopies from ISPs, ICQ messages - u name it.

#2388 "open directory in Explorer" in menu popup reopened Alexander Schuch Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When I'm trawling through my local file window in FileZilla client 2.2.18.

I often find myself wishing to open a file's target directory or even the selected directory in Explorer.

But there appears to be no way to do so.

Therefore I've got to find this directory or file via Explorer and trawl through the directories *again* which can take an age!

This inability of FileZilla to do this, just makes me and no doubt hundreds of others irated. :-)

But why not save thousands of users grief and add a wee icon or an extra Menu line to do a 'open Container' command on a file or directory right into Explorer please?

Can't be hard to do surely?

#1520 (Repeated) action after queue completion reopened Tim Kosse Other normal FileZilla Client
Description

This patch lets users do various actions after queue completion. It is accessed by right-clicking on the "Queued files" frame and implements the following functionality from RFE# 1707774:

  • Close FileZilla
  • Run program/command
  • Disconnect from server
  • Shutdown system (win only)
  • Reboot system (win only)

This initial version is not properly tested on various systems, and should not be applied before more bug testing. It's posted here to get feedback on patch quality, and if I'm on the right track with this.

More information will be posted on the already mentioned RFE.

#2163 PASV: Output Actual TCP Port As Well assigned Tim Kosse Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

This is just visual "icing", but it would be nice to have the actual TCP port (((217*256) + 7) = 55559) for passive connections logged immediately after the server response "Entering Passive Mode (...". Something like what is seen in the FlashFXP FTP client would be nice:

[R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (66,225,88,75,217,7). [R] Opening data connection IP: 66.225.88.75 PORT: 55559

#2191 Directory drag & drop option reopened Tim Kosse Feature request high FileZilla Client

#2514 GSS auth option assigned Tim Kosse Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

We have a need for GSS authentication, but without encryption after connecting. I believe Filezilla is essentially sending the "private" command to the FTP server.

Basically, we need the same functionality as if you started the unix command line 'ftp' without the '-x' option.

I'd be more than happy to work with your developers to make this happen.

#2644 Fixed "Up Remote Directory" Button assigned Tim Kosse Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

The up directory button for the remote server is within the directory tree structure. When you have a directory with a large amount of files that you sort in different ways you often have to keep scrolling up and down to find the "Up 1 Directory" button.

It would be nicer if it was a permanent button just to the left of the "Remote Site" Label so that you could change directories without having to scroll

#9675 set to use system default date format, but not correct date display in client file list accepted Tim Kosse Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I have just updated FZ client to new version, noticed that the date format has changed to mm/dd/yy. Before update this was dd/mm/yy as per system settings (UK, Windows 8, 64-bit). Checked the setting in Filezilla and the default is selected (use system default). It seems this is being ignored.

#9977 OS X: Keyboard mnemonics on buttons override default edit control actions (e.g. Cmd+V) assigned Tim Kosse Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

#10723 *nix: Ctrl+i interpreted as (Ctrl+)Tab in file lists reopened Tim Kosse Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Opening dialog "Directory listing filters" by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I triggers an "assertion failure" eventually followed by a core dump if an object was selected in the "detailed listing" of either local or remote pane before.

Steps to reproduce (see screenshot_main-window.png; terms according to https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/FileZilla_Client_Tutorial_(en)#Navigating_and_window_layout): As long as objects are selected in the "directory tree" only like user directory "dummy" in the screenshot the said dialog behaves as expected. But as soon as an object in the "detailed listing" like folder "Musik" marked by a red asterisk in the screenshot gets selected by a single mouse click opening the dialog by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I doesn't work any longer. First a dialog "filezilla" (screenshot_dialogue-filezilla.png) comes up stating "An assertion failed". When "Continue" gets clicked FileZilla apparently continues to operate as usual. But clicking button "Stop" or hitting key "Esc" triggers a core dump.

It doesn't matter whether or not a connection is active. Opening the dialog from the menu, either by mouse or by keyboard mnemonics, isn't affected at all.

Up to date Arch Linux x86_64. FileZilla either 3.14.1 from the distribution's official repositories or SVN checkout 7250 compiled against libfilezilla 0.3.0 or SVN checkout 7250, same findings with all these variants.

Aside from the screenshots the "backtrace" provided by dialogue "filezilla" (backtrace_dialogue-filezilla.txt) as well as a backtrace generated by handing the saved core dump to gdb via sytemd's coredumpctl (backtrace_gdb.txt) are attached.

#12002 Refresh in new FTP client causes all folders to close assigned Tim Kosse Bug report high FileZilla Client
Description

In the newest FTP client version (3.45.0), when selecting the Refresh button, all folders in the local site view close, and the view jumps to the top of the directory tree. This never used to occur. #4957 Configuarble local directories accepted Xishi Pan Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Please allow the FileZilla's temporary directory (C:\Temp\fz3temp-1) to be configurable. We work with confidential files and I would like these temporary files to be stored on an encrypted local disk.

I know these files are normally deleted at the end of a session, but there is a possibility the files could be left unencrypted if the program or computer crashed unexpectedly.

Also, I am not sure if the Temp files are wiped securely from c:\temp when they are deleted normally.

Thanks!

#7241 config option to select a private keyfile from pageant per server new Axel Huizinga Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Actually filezilla seems to accept only the private keyfile stored in the default settings from putty. The log shows that it checks only this one and not all keys added to pageant - so I always have to change putty's default settings if I want to access a server with a different keyfile. It will be more convenient to allow the preselection of the keyfile in the servermanager for each account separately. Maybe this could be achieved in a similar way like pscp which accepts a commandline like this one which I use from a perl script to update a file directly from an SciTE or Geany: pscp.exe -i keyfile -l user "localpath" host:remotepath. If the keyfile is loaded in pageant it will be used without an additional passphrase request.

#8011 Patch for simple on/off queue scheduler (feature request #1665) assigned Scott Bragg Patch normal FileZilla Client
Description

Since I moved from a city to rural satellite Internet which has both peak and off-peak data usage allowances, I've been having to stay up until the off-peak time kicks in to start my filezilla queues (system backups, updates, etc).

I was hoping there would be a process queue schedule feature in Filezilla by now, but since there isn't, I decided to dive into the source and hammer one in.

I've included my patch to the svn revision 4558. It seemed to work on my workstation here which is running Fedora 16.

I normally do work in C, not C++

It's a rather simple on/off schedule mechanism. Go into the Edit menu -> Preferences and look for the new "Queue" page. You can either:

  • set filezilla to start processing the queue on startup (useful to create a queue, exit, and just schedule filezilla to start later with system level scheduler such as at)

and/or

  • enable scheduling (in which case you put a start and end time in the appropriate fields, 24 hour time, so midnight is 00:00)

Then create your queue, and leave filezilla running and the queue should start and stop processing at the specified times.

Filezilla is way more useful selecting specific files and managing the queue than command line clients, but needs a touch of automation (which is what computers are for).

#3836 Unable to download/delete a directory if all its contents are filtered assigned Luke Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

I know about this bug very long time and I have still hoped that this bug will be fixed in new a release but I have mistaken. :)

So where is the problem ? I will write how reproduce the bug.

Create direcory e.g. test/ and in this direcory create directory .svn/ (or file .svn), turn on "Directory listing filters" and create filter which will filter .svn direcory(or file) and try upload this direcory. Filezilla doesn't upload this directory.

It works with any number of filtered items. But if directory contain some or only one unfiltered dir or file, then the directory will be uploaded.

It affects downloading as well and when You try delete that directory with filtered dir or files on FTP!, Filezilla doesn't delete that folder.

#8855 Better IP filtering accepted mallory loflin Feature request high FileZilla Server
Description

Currently with the IP filter there is no way to tell what IP is for what purpose/person, it is just a big ugly list. This makes it near impossible to manage unless you maintain a separate list of the IP's and who they belong to. So giving an IP temp access or trying to remove access later is a royal PITA.

It would be more useful if each IP could have a label with it to identify what it is for. So have it in a MULTIPLE SELECT list rather than a text area so IP's can easily be selected and removed e.g. 1.2.3.4 - ACME.com temp access for support 2.3.4.5 - Head office 3.4.5.6 - Dave - Contractor

It would also be very handy if IP filters could have rules.

e.g. Allow Indefinitely Allow for x days then disable Allow for x days then remove

#12652 Accessibility problems with administration interface GUI accepted Fabio Alemagna Other normal FileZilla Server
Description

Hi,

I encounter sevral problems to configure the server via the administration GUI, the keyboard navigation could be difficult and the screenreader NVDA version 2021.3.1 doesn't work with all components of the GUI.

The biggest problem is the datagrids, for example the configuration for users dirrectories access but all components of this type are problematic. When I use the "tab" key to focus this type of elements it's not possible to move in it with keys or to quit it with "tab" (I must use a shortcut). So it's not possible to select an item in the array and to configure it correctly, this is a big regression cause with the old GUI these problems wasn't present. Also, the datagrids are not announced correctly by the screenreader if I try to modify something in it, I must exit the settings and reload them to have a small access.

Also, when I add a new user or with the list elements of this type, the focus is blocked in the list with the possibility to up or down the selected item but I haven't access to the other options and, if I navigate without adding a nex element, I can't move up or down the selected element. I don't know if this happen also when I modify or copy the selected element but it's also a big problem.

An other problem, the dialog box creation for a SSL certificat has a strange behaviour with the tabindex so it's realy difficult to use it only with the keyboard.

I've also see something that I haven't understand, in the user configuration in the "General" tab, my screenreader indicate me a combobox just after the password field (always using "Tab" key to navigate) but I can't interract with it.

In conclusion the old interface was realy better for the accessibility and keyboard navigation, using a contextual menu in lists was far better than this new interface, etc..., this new interface is probably more modern than the old one but very less usable for visualy impaired people or for those who don't use the mouse. I hope this can be fixed, I realy apreciate Filezilla Server but for now the only solution that I have found is to install an old version (under 1.0.0), configure it and reinstall a new version but if I want to change something it could be realy difficult.

Best regards and keep up the good work.

#7178 directory listing is not always refreshed after uploading a file accepted Rahul Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • connect to a server
  • wait some time, so the connection times out
  • upload a file: filezilla will automatically reconnect in order to upload the file
  • wait until the upload finishes

Expected result:

  • the remote directory listing should automatically be refreshed and you should see the file you just uploaded

Observed result:

  • the remote directory listing is NOT refreshed, and you don't see the file you just uploaded

In the console window where you see all the commands and responses, you do see a message saying "directory listing succesfull", so I guess filezilla does retrieve the listing but it fails to show the updated directory listing in the display on the right.

If you manually refresh using the refresh button, then you'll see the directory listing refreshed including the just uploaded file.

This only happens when you upload a file after the connection has timed out (and filezilla automatically reconnects). If you are already connected when you do the upload, then the refresh does work correctly and you seen the refreshed list as soon as the upload is finished.

#9809 Cancel/Disconnect buttons don't stop file/folder transfer moreinfo_accepted Stephen L'Allier Patch normal FileZilla Client
Description

I accidentally dragged over the wrong folder to transfer to my computer (huge number of files and folders in it), and I clicked the Cancel button (red flag with X in it) but it did nothing, then I clicked the Disconnect button (mouse with X over it), and the files kept transferring. I had to close FileZilla to get it to stop (which thankfully stopped the process).

Are these buttons not actually supposed to cancel a transfer or disconnect from the server? If I'm not using it contextually correctly, what exactly is the "current" server it refers to if they're highlighted? I was actually only connected to one server at the time.

#8173 Password Encryption // Master Password moreinfo Theo D. Patch normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi everyone,

I've just managed to make my patch working so I share it with you: https://github.com/tdubourg/filezilla-encrypted

I've been using Filezilla for a long time now but I have always been concerned about the really low level of security it provided regarding to password storage - that is to say, no security (clear text). On Windows there are even now malwares that have been targeting Filezilla sitemanager.xml file....

So as I spare had time 2 days ago I decided to make a patch.

Here is what currently works:

  • Turning on password encryption in the settings window and entering the master password.
  • Storing the master password (encrypted using itself as password key) in the FileZilla.xml options
  • Turning off password encryption...
  • Starting filezilla in password encrypted mode and entering the master password at the start up of the application (if the user does not want to enter any password then FileZilla will close).
  • Building on GNU/Linu x86

I use the Crypto++ cross platform library which has integrated packages for most GNU/Linux distributions and has a non-viral license.

What I would need help for, in order to finalize this patch:

  • Explanations about the build process of FileZilla. I added a class called CCrypto (following the current naming conventions in the source code) and for now I edited manually the makefiles to get it building but that's just a quick-dirty-fix and we have to put the right things in the right place for autoconf and libtool to recognize everything. Same for the -lcryptopp option. I need to know how to add this new dependancy.
  • Light help on handling password fields. For now I use text fields and this not very pretty :)
  • Information about possible edge cases that come as a consequence of the changes I made (in terms of dealing with password in filezilla, I'd need to know if there are some tricky part of filezilla dealing with passwords that I should have a look at, to make sure the patch is compatible)

What still needs to be developped:

  • Converting the password when changing the master password (decrypting them with the former one and encrypting them again with the new one).
  • Decrypting the passwords when the user turns off the encryption

For now these two cases obviously end up with encrypted passwords that are not decryptable (because no master password or master password has changed).

What could be improved : Randomly generating a salt / iv (instead of hardcoded ones) when turning on encryption and then storing them in the settings file.

I am using AES by the way.

This patch is not intended to provide military security. It is intended to provide standard security that should be implemeted in every software storing password (like Firefox, Thunderbird, Opera... and even WinSCP (that has a CRAP UI but master password feature !!!).

I do not provide a patch file for now but you can see the changes I made by searching for the string "@td". That's a tag that I put where I make changes.

BTW I do not know if I can branch the SVN repo instead of holding the stuff on Github...? I think I need additional rights for that.

#1611 Option to Queue Actions for Later new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I used to use Bullet Proof FTP. In BPFTP, all FTP actions are queued, even things like renaming and deleting files. This can be very handy when working with large numbers of files.

It would be nice if FileZilla could do this also. For example, I could queue deletion of one file, then go to another directory, queue deletion of another file, then queue a couple of uploads, queue a file to be renamed, and then click Process Queue and wait while it does all of those actions at once. It saves time if you already know what you're going to do, because you don't have to wait for each action to complete before you select the next one.

Keep up the great work!

#1665 Scheduled queue transfer new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

I'm sitemanager at a site where we publish articles and rewiews twice a week. My problem is, I have to stay up until 24:00 when a new article / rewiew is to be published. Is there any chanse to add a feature where I can schedule a transfer of the queue? If so, I could add the files neccesary to the queue and select a date / day / time for processing the queue. Also, I suggest that this feature takes care of connection / disconnection when the selected time occurs. An example:

at 24:00, the program connects to the server, process the queue and then disconnect. If any problems occur, a warning message including the errors pops up. When I wake up, I will see if the transfer was successfully - and if not, I will know what the problem was.

This would help me a lot!

#1774 multipart and multi-proxy transfer support new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description
  1. using multipart transfer, we can divide one file into

several part, transfer each part individualy and simultaneously, then merge then into one file.

  1. using multi-proxy transfer, we can transfer several

files or several part of one file at the same time with a server that has session limited per IP. For example, we have a server X allow only 1 session for one IP, and we have 4 proxy a, b, c, d. We can transfer file1 from X directly, and transfer file2 simultaneously through a, transfer file3 through b, and so on. Or transfer part1 of a file from X directly, part2 of that file through a, and so on. This can break the session limition of the server, especially with speed limition per session. Of course, some strategy may be included, e.g. how many session per IP is allowed for the server, which proxy can be used as one of multi-proxy, distribute one transfer task to as many proxy as possible first or to one proxy as possible as server support first.

#1862 Client: Show Connection # in Log new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

While downloading several thousand small (few KB) files, I turned on 4 simultaneous connections to speed it up. When downloading such small files, the speed is held back by waiting for the server to start sending each file, so by running many at once, the overall transfer speed stays more constant.

I had to pause the download, so I unpressed the Process Queue toolbar button. Then when I resumed it, I got some failed transfers. Files were created with the right names, but with 0 bytes, and they were removed from the queue. As a result, I'm going to have to start the transfer all over again to be sure I get all of the files. :/

I was going to report a bug, but there is a problem: With multiple connections, you can't tell which commands and responses are on which connection, so you can't figure out which transfers failed! I have included an example at the bottom.

As you can see, it's impossible to tell which commands and responses are for which connections, so you can't tell which ones are failing and which are succeeding. A simple change to something like:

[1] Command: [1] Response: [2] Command: [4] Response: [2] Response: [4] Command: [3] Response:

Would show which commands and responses are for which connections. They could also be color-coded. Also, you could use a drop-down box to choose which connections' logs you wanted to see in the log pane.

If this is implemented, maybe we can track down this bug that caused the zero-byte files.

Thanks.

and differs in that I would not expect FileZilla to delete any local files. It is likely that my suggestion could be rolled up with 721808, i.e. FileZilla would provide a website upload capability that worked by file synchronisation to make all the server files a proper subset of the local files.

#1940 At-a-glance log of uploads and downloads new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

As a user, one of the main features that I need with FTP clients is a simple, saved list of all things that are uploaded and downloaded, from where, to where, and when. I can get that by setting the Debug list to save to a log file - but it doesn't say where thing come from or go to, it doesn't say when, and (most importantly), it's cluttered with all sorts of other things I don't need so that it quickly turns into an absolutely huge file I can't use.

The best example of the type of log file I'm looking for is provided by WS_FTP. I attached a sample of the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Is there any way we can have FileZilla automatically create a simple text file like this, so I can see at a glance that (say) I did download the wna_site.mdb database, and then uploaded it again 15 minutes later.

Hello, I love your idea of a global connection retry / login delay in the connection settings! Could you install an option for each individual ftp site so you can manually put in a non default retry delay incase it has to be set to the non default option.

I.E. global retry delay is 50 seconds. For ftp.sourceforge.net you can set it for 2 minutes via a 'non default' option withing the ftp.sourceforge.net.

Thanks

#2016 Reconnect new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It would be useful if the Reconnect item (under File) were to indicate choices of sites previously connected to.

Thanks,

#2046 Local Treeview Improvement new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Currently, the local treeview doesn't display the folder of My Network Place. So user can access the local intranet by local treeview.

#2120 Flash taskbar button on connection new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When server is full FileFlash automatically retries to connect to FTP server. Sometimes it can take quite a while before the connection is established and users usually do other things when waiting. During this time the FileZilla window is begind other windows. So when FileZilla connects to server it would be nice if its taksbar button flasshed so that users can see that something happened in the FZ window.

#2122 Differant directory views new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Currently when viewing either the local or remot directories it is in the "list" view. I would like to see over views added like "licons". (basicly making it move like windows where you can have your folder views many diffeant ways)

#2124 Support for NTLM proxy auth new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Filezilla will not work through Microsoft ISA Server with NTLM authentication required.

Mozilla, including Mozilla FireFox does support NTLM auth for the HTTP proxy, so the code could be taken from there.

There is also a Python program APS that will work. It belongs here: http://www.geocities.com/rozmanov/ntlm/

It references a description of the protocol here: http://www.innovation.ch/java/ntlm.html

#2157 show average transfer speed per transfer new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

At present, the only time stamp is when FileZilla is started. I request that each event is time stamped. Also, a request that average transfer speed should be logged. The two items are linked and it can be calculated manually if required so long as one item or the other is put into the log file.

#2219 uploaded file verification new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

When uploading lots of small files for websites (especially PHP coded sites) I've encountered times when several files are corrupted. For PHP sites, this usually breaks some part of the site.

Is it possible to have an option to make Filezilla verify uploaded files (or at least double-check the file sizes?)

Thanks!

#2222 Mirror Connections new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

What would be a cool addition to a super-cool program, would be the ability to designate a connection as a mirror to another connection. so that whatever you do to one connection (Send / Rename / Delete), it will also do to its mirror connection.

Many thanks, with kind regards,

david

#2230 Option to not ask 'break current connection?' new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

How about an option to avoid the question: 'Break current connection?' when changing ftp sites.

I use FileZilla with many different sites, very frequently switching between them. Removing this message would make things a fair bit smoother.

Cheers,

Tim

#2250 Make "Use Multiple Connections" setting persistent new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

I know there's already at least one feature request asking for this, but it's been almost 3 years and is unresolved.

I prefer not to hammer any servers I'm downloading from with multiple connections, and would like to see this setting become persistent, and ideally should be disabled initially.

#2263 UNC Path for Remote Site new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

HI,

is it possible to do a quick fix for UNC path support on the remote site.

"
pcname\share" should result in "CWD
pcname\share" instead of "cwd drive:/pcname/share".

thanks in advance

#2269 Autohide queue window when empty new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Autohide queue window when there is nothing in the que so that there is more screen space for the interesting bits.

#2433 Allow only one instance (option). new Feature request high FileZilla Client
Description

Having a option to allow only one instance would stop accidentsly opening more then one instance of FileZilla (useful for people who have only one target site, and would hence rarely need more than one instance).

#2435 Allow registration as a URL handler for FTP, SFTP new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Optional) registration as the default URL handler in windows may be added with a registry addition similar to:

--BEGIN-- REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sftp] @="URL:sftp Protocol" "URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sftp\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sftp\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sftp\shell\open\command] @="\"C:
Program Files
FileZilla
FileZilla.exe\" \"%1\"" --END--

Allowing FZ to register itself for FTP and SFTP URLs would be useful.

For SFTP, this is potentially blocked by this bug: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1454179&group_id=21558&atid=372241

#2521 Speed limits per-file/directory new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Under the general topic of managing huge downloads more efficiently:

It would be very helpful if there were a way in the front-end of the FileZilla client to turn the speed limiter on and off. Instead, one must go into the preferences.

A very good example of a program that manages bandwidth well is uTorrent. You can set up a schedule in a graphical way that is more intuitive than FileZilla's schedule rules. You can also turn the schedule on and off in the front end by right clicking in the lower status bar. Finally, uTorrent does some very interesting and convienent things with download prioritization.

In the context of the FileZilla interface, it would probably be more consistent to add a button in the main toolbar instead of a context menu in the status bar, though adding both wouldn't hurt.

Additionally, it would be helpful if you could apply speed limit rules on a per-file (or per-directory) basis to limit certain downloads and not to others in the queue.

For instance, let's say I'm downloading a huge DVD ISO of a Linux distro. This will take several days on a slow DSL connection. Rather than sucking up my bandwidth for days on end, I'd set a speed limit. Now, in the middle of this big download, I need to pull down some work-related files. Rather than pausing the big download, turning off the speed limiter, initiating the new download, waiting for it to finish, and restarting the big download again with the speed limit rules, it would be better if I could right-click the big download and simply apply the speed limit to it alone, leaving the new high-priority download to utilize the remainder of my available bandwidth.

I hope this makes sense. I am happy to discuss the feature request further. I'm 'ixnayus' at gmail. Thanks for all your work on a great product.

Many thanks, Steve

#2752 Browse on remote directory on Advanced tab of Site Manager new Feature request low FileZilla Client
Description

It would be nice if there was a "Browse..." button next to "Default remote directory" on the Advanced tab of the Site Manager. Since (if) the log in information is already supplied on the General tab, Filezilla (I guess) could log on to the server and retrieve the directory tree, and using that information create a "Browse for Folder" dialog such as the one opened when clicking the "Browse..." button next to "Default local directory".

#2768 Update local folder if content is changed new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

You view the content of a folder (on your PC). Then this content is changed (for instance a file is copied to this folder). Now FileZilla will not display the changes until you switch to another folder and then go back to the one you have been in before.

It should show the changes immediatelly (as for instance Windows Explorer does).

#2815 Add directory collapse "pluses" to unknown directories new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

It would be nice if directories that still haven't been opened had the little plus sign beside them by default, which would then act as if the directory itself was clicked if there is nothing to actually collapse.

It would save the extra click from doubleclicking the folder every time, and it would make it consistent with Explorer's behavior in some situations where it doesn't know what's in the folder.

#2907 Queue autorecovery after crash new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

Filezilla forget the download/failed/succesfull Queue after closed the client

It should be viewable after close / restart.

#10575 example text file association for wrong OS new Bug report low FileZilla Client
Description

In the window for customizing file associations, filezilla shows an example command line instruction for creating the association. The instruction for the mac version starts with c:\program files\... which is for Windows OS instead of MacOS.

#10597 Specify simultaneous transfers per server in addition to globally new Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

FZ currently allows users to define the max simultaneous transfers (1-10) as well as concurrent downloads/uploads. Please add the ability to define concurrent download/uploads on server-basis. The goal is to have 1 download or upload running per server I have in my queue.

Let's say I have 100 files queued to download across 3 different servers. The expected behavior is to have 3 downloads running simultaneously with 1 from each server running. Currently, a global setting of 3 doesn't allow this.
