#4849 | Columns on remote server do not display properly if reordered | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
In FZ 3.2.8 under WinXP SP3, if I right-click on the remote server's column headings (the gray area above the current directory's file listing that reads Filename | Filesize | Filetype | etc.), check all six boxes, then use the Move Up/Move Down buttons to move Permissions to any position other than the fifth, the column headings move as requested, but the data in the column do not. So, for example, if I exchange Permissions (which was originally in fifth position) with Last Modified (which was originally in fourth position), the Last Modified information shows up in the new Permissions column (which is now in fourth position, where Last Modified was before the exchange), and the Last Modified column contents (now in fifth position) are blank (except for the header). Also, sorting of the date-last-sorted data in the "Permissions" column no longer works properly. Restoring the column headings to their original positions fixes all problems, but of course this defeats the purpose of having the column heading portability feature in the first place. |

#4850 | No file-list refresh in local window | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
The only way to refresh your local view seems to be pressing F5. When you're dragging files or folders to the Filezilla local window its contents are refreshed regularly. Now add a file to or rename a file to this directory using your explorer (outside Filezilla but while Filezilla is running) Filezilla's local window doesn't get aware of any of these changes. Is there really no communication between Filezilla and the OS for an automatic refresh known from many other applications? |

#4867 | Problem customizing column headers in version 3.2.8 | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
Right-clicking the header bar within the local and remote file windows brings up the Column Setup dialogue for selecting the columns that should be displayed and the order in which to display them. Changing these configurations by checking and unchecking the boxes and using the move up and move down buttons will change the visibility and location of the column headers, as it should. However, the file details below do not change with the column headers, as they should. For example, if you uncheck the Filesize box in order to hide that column, the header goes away, but the column containing the Filesize information for each file is still listed below. Only now it appears under the Filetype header, as the Filesize header is no longer visible. And the Filetype information is listed below the Last Modified header. The file detail columns do not change visibility or order, no matter what settings you make in the Column Setup dialogue box. This behavior has been confirmed on two separate machines, although both are running the same version of Windows. |

#4881 | Downloading failes, not renaming - charset issue (iso-8859-1) | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
First of all: I have read http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_Set and you could reject this request simply based on the fact that UTF-8 isn't used. However, please read on. The problem is that renaming works, but downloading fails. I would have understood if both failed. This inconsistent behavior seems strange and is a bug in my view. The server is a CentOS 4.7 with OpenSSH 3.9p1. It's using iso-8859-1 as default charset. When FileZilla connects, it deactivates UTF-8 (because the output of the ls command contains illegal characters I guess - a test file named "æøå.txt"). When I try to download the file "æøå.txt", it fails: Command: get "æøå.txt" "C:\Documents and Settings\Hans\Desktop\æøå.txt" Error: /home/hans/æøå.txt: open for read: no such file or directory However, renaming works: Command: mv "æøå.txt" "æøa.txt" Status: /home/hans/æøå.txt -> /home/hans/æøa.txt It's probably my lack of knowledge when it comes to the SFTP protocol, that makes this behavior weird to me. Thanks for your time and effort - FileZilla is great! Regards, Hans |

#4893 | Security on public computer - feature request | Feature request | high | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
It would be great if there were an option (when the program is installed!) to automatically clear the history when the program is closed. This would be very helpful because the option could not be changed by any user because they can't install software, and each person's personal information (connect password etc.) would be safe as soon as the program is closed. I work at a school and this feature would be great. The reason I'm asking for a high priority is that it's currently a security risk for students to access one another's personal drive space if they forget to clear their connect info. Thanks. |

#4899 | Site Manage Drop Down | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | wontfix

I consider this a bug, but you may consider it a 'feature request'. Here is the break down of what happens. I have many many sites saved in the Site Manage, when I click the down arrow on the Site Manage icon, I have a list so long that I can't see any of the sites past 't' in the list. There is an arrow on the top of the list, but not on on the bottom to scroll down the list. For sites below 't' I have to go into the site manager and click connect. Not a huge deal, but I would LOVE to see a version update that included this feature/bug fix. As it would make my life a tad bit easier. |

#4905 | Manually Save/Export Queue | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
I routinely have several FileZilla windows open at work connected to multiple servers. It would be nice if I could save the queues from each of these sessions independently. Perhaps an "Export as XML" or something similar. Then FileZilla could automatically save the current queue on close (like it already does) and/or the user could export different queues. This also opens up possibilities such as being able to run batch uploads that are recurring tasks. For example, uploading the same 200 files spread out across 25 directories... Example: Import Queue -> Select File -> Process Queue => Productivity Win! Great product. Hopefully this is possible and simple enough to make it into a future release. |

Unfortunately the attached log does not show the fact of the rename dialog appearing and it being cancelled as it only shows that the file is being skipped. #4909 | update to 3.2.8.1 doesn't clean up hot-key shortcut | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | wontfix
Description |
Small bug, not devastating, but perhaps easy to fix -- I use a desktop icon and hot-key of Ctrl-Shift-Z (I know, odd choice, but I doubt the choice matters for this bug) to start FileZilla. When I updated to 3.2.8.1, the installer over-wrote my desktop icon with a new, clean one. The new icon lacks the hot-key setting. That's fine, I don't mind setting it up again. But the old hot-key setting is STILL ACTIVE -- sitting in the registry I guess. So there is no easy way to get rid of it. I uninstalled FileZilla altogether, then re-installed. Hot-key remained. It is possible to open the icon, then Properties, then Shortcut: and type a new shortcut hot-key combination. Then I have two of them. If I try to enter ctrl-sh-Z at that point (for documentation, or because of naively trying to re-establish the hot key setting), then instead, instances of FileZilla keep opening. |

#4910 | Connecting to multiple Hosts | Feature request | high | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
Greetings, My name is Panduranga, I am from Bangalore, India, working as technology manager. FileZilla is excellent software, I am using since its first version. My feature request as follows: Can it be modified to handle multiple Hosts, in one instance? Currently if you need to connect to second host you need to kill first connection. Best regards, Panduranga (http://www.resourcedesign.co.in) |

#4912 | Failed to retrieve directory listing with Blue Coat FTP service (firewall) - starting from Filezilla version 3.2.4 | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I've noticed connection failures in the more recent versions of Filezilla. The error that is shown is 'Failed to retrieve directory listing'. Not all FTP sites are affected as far as I can see, only sites supporting MLSD are affected. This issue was seen in 2 corporate networks (both using Blue Coat FTP service). As well Windows computers (Windows XP SP3 tested) as Linux computers (Ubuntu 8.10 tested) are affected. Please find below some logs of different Filezilla versions. All versions older then version 3.2.4 seem to work fine. Please note for security reasonsm usernames, ipaddresses, filenames , ... have been modified in the log file. #4915 | Connect Error | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I can connect to my web site just fine if I use Quick Connect. I put in the site ftp.blablabla.com the user name xxxxxxx the password xxxxx and port 990 hit connect and everything works fine. When I try the exact same connect using the site manager with the exact same information it will not connect? I have triple checked all my login information and started from scratch many times with this new version, all to no avail. This exact same login using the site manager worked just fine for a long time with older versions. So either I am doing something wrong, and I don't know what that is, or something has changed that has broken the File Manager for me. Thanks Don |

Description |

#4927 | empty directory listing on AIX | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
FileZilla client shows empty dir listing in a non-empty directory on AIX. This happens approximately 9 times out of 10 if I repeatedly hit the refresh (F5). Sometimes it comes back with incomplete listing. To me this sounds like a timing issue. My local system is Windows XP. Remote host runs AIX.

#4933 | Pane widths reset on New Tab | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Using 3.3.0-beta1 -- when opening a new tab, the widths of the four directory panes are reverted to defaults. These panes are the local site tree pane, local listing pane, remote site tree pane, remote listing pane. This happens with the layouts with horizontal spacing, e.g. all but classic. Classic layout remains unaffected as it's only the horizontal layout that's reset to defaults. |

#4937 | site manager doesn't allow moving connections to folder if list is long | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
I created a folder called "sites", which appears way down at the bottom of the list of connections. I am able to move connections that fit in the window to the "sites" folder, but not anything outside the window. the only workaround I have that I can think of is to edit the filezilla.xml file when filezilla is not running. idea: some sort of "move to" button that brings up a folder tree list would be useful, where you could click on a particular folder. it would be nice if it remembered the last folder you clicked on. |

In this example the existing attributes before CHMOD were 755 Command: SITE CHMOD 777 wp-content Response: 200 SITE CHMOD command successful Right click on the folder afterwards --> File attributes and it shows the old settings before CHMOD was applied (755). Close FZ and launch it again. It now displays the correct current attributes (777). Thanks, Danny |

#4942 | Icons not updated in lasts versions of FileZilla Client | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I do not remember which one, but one old version of FileZilla Client came with new fashioned icons (as seen in FileZilla web site). Where they are? When I installed FileZilla Client, I checked to install new icons, but I don't get them. Is this right or there is a bug when updating icons if you have installed a very old version? I tried to uninstall FileZilla completely, deleting all files under c:\program files\FileZilla FTP Client, reboot my PC and installa again; but the old icons remain. |

#4943 | Download of or deletion of folders not working | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Using 3.3.0-beta1, after using the program for a while to upload and download files and folders, when trying to delete a folder on the remote server, or download a folder, including the folder itself, from the remote server, FileZilla will just ignore the command. Uploading local folders to remote server works fine. Renaming remote folders works fine. Dragging a remote folder into another remote folder is also fine. If I try to download the whole folder or delete the whole folder it will do nothing, not even attempt it, no errors. I am using multiple tabs when this happens, I do not know if that has anything to do with it or not though. On initially starting the program, whether I have multiple tabs or not it works ok, then later on it will [seemingly randomly] stop working. Then the only way to download a folder is to create it on the local side manually, open it and download the files. Note that if you select all files & folders in a folder and download, it will download the files and ignore the folders. |

If I try to transfer files to or from a server that only accepts one connection to the server i continuously get disconnected and reconnected with the status message 421 I can't accept more than 2 connections as the same user. i think the way this could be fixed is to add a checkbox in the Site manager that disables more than 2 connections. another suggestion: you can make filezilla automatically change the state of the checkbox (permanently, not temporary) to checked when it finds at least two 421 errors per connection. Also can someone put a move and copy function into filezilla, for working with files on the server side? thanks! |

They also come up with screwy transfer rates - a file of 237,334 bytes has a transfer rate of 237.3 Kb/s Uploads via a web based FTP app are successful (so I don't think it's the files' contents). #4954 | Ver. 3.2.8.1 Drag and Drop to shell disabled | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Hi there! Thank you for providing a valuable and highly useful piece of software. Just recently, I updated the program (version 3.2.8.1) and found that drag and drop functionality from the FTP file navigation pane to the windows shell was disabled. To clarify, when I try to drag a file to my desktop, my mouse pointer turns into the "unavailable" icon (circle with a line through it). I've rebooted the pc, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, enabled the shell extention, modified my registry (according to the forums), and read through the existing tickets as well as the forum, and no solution has been identified as of yet. I can still navigate to the local folder in my left file navigation pane and download from there just fine. It's merely a matter of convenience. Thanks for any & all help! I've attached my fzshellext.txt log, as recommended in the forum. Yours, Chad |

Uploading updates has become a nightmare. Reworked htm files go through the motions of uploading and appear for a moment on the remote server, and then they disappear leaving "0 files" in their place, and no other details of date/ upload as well. Meantime I use the server-side software of my web host, but that will only work for HTML, not PDFs/Docs |

I am using version 3.3.0. When you have multiple connection tabs, directory comparison only works for the first tab. Switching to the second tab leaves the directory comparison icon "pressed", and toggling it does not make directory comparison work in the second tab. Closing the first tab renders directory comparison inoperative. Procedure:

#4974 | Links in welcome dialog don't work | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Clicking a link in the welcome dialog of FileZilla 3.3.0 doesn't work correctly under Linux. On my PC (Crux 2.6), Opera gets started, although the default browser is Firefox. On my laptop (same system), FileZilla tries to start wine, which of course doesn't work. An explicit browser setting in the preferences is missing. |

#4975 | Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle / not working | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
These two toggles (Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle) are located in the top bar under the Main Menu Bar. They both have a weird behavior. Both were OFF upon start. The weird behavior appears as soon as the tabbed interface is activated or a little later on while using it. This behavior is characterized by:
I am using the latest version of filezilla (updated 10 min ago.) I have restarted filezilla and the buttons work again until I create a new tab. Unless now only the "remote directory tree" is affected by the bug. The local directory switch works properly. Then I create a new tab once again and both toggles work properly again. Then again I leave one tab open (the tab-panel disappears) and create a new tab - the problems appear again. Truly a strange thing. #4978 | Wrong file/directory name by server side. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I connect to SCO UNIX ftp server. I use polish version of FileZilla Client. Files/directories with modification date in October ('październik' in polish) have wrong name in server side view panel. I can't use this files/directories (get, open, ...). I think diacritical character 'ź' is the reason for this bug. Name of directory is: 'mounth day time realname', for example: 'paź 21 9:21 adm' (modification date of this file/directory is 21st October) Example of this situation you can see on attached picture. Sorry for my English. |

#4979 | No password asked on Server->Reconnect (Ctrl + R) | Bug report | blocker | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I connect to a FTP via "Quick Connect" or using the "Site Manager" (in Spanish "Conexión rápida" and "Gestor de Sitios", respectively), then disconnect and close FileZilla and open FileZilla again, pressing Ctrl + R automatically reconnects to the last ftp server, without asking password. I have not told filezilla to save any password, nor did in the past. I tried to Quick Connect to a server I've never connected in the past, and then closing, opening and reconnecting still did the login without password. If I don't have told explicitly to do so, FileZilla should not remember any password. So, even at 'Reconnect', FileZilla should ask me for the password. |
