I want to point out that I've looked in other posts, and I did all the things recommended by so many problem solvers....

And here are the facts:

1. It was working fine until a couple of days ago. Nothing changed.
2. I tried changing passwords.
3. I've added a new user in my hosting FTP User Management.
4. I tried adding the domain name after the user name with @ in between them. I also tried without.
5. I tried the domain name as hostname, and also the IP Address.
6. I CAN connect with WS_FTP Client to my hosting.
7. I HATE WS_FTP.
8. I LOVE FileZilla.
9. HELP!!!

For the last couple of versions I'm getting the message "filezilla.xml~ couldn't be removed (error: 0 the operation completed successfully).

I have been unable to connect to my Yahoo server for the last 3 or 4 days. I have checked my password, and it is correct. I installed the latest version of Filezilla today and I ma still getting the same error. I have seen several other tickets reporting this exact problem, and I am reporting this again so that it receives the proper attention. FYI, ISP is Comcast/Xfinity. log below.

I click on a local file and then rightclick and 'rename'. Then I click into the filename and type a change. When I hit enter, filezilla does not do anything anymore. I can wait or force closing it.

When I restart it, the file is renamed.

I currently use 3.8.0 and have to tried upgrading with every new version but always get the following error,so have to revert back.

If I go into a directory locally first the remote directory once double click will not process through require me to re-login to be able to open that specific directory. It shows the command: Command: CDUP Command: CWD Then sits there.

A client of mine loaded Filezilla - most recent version on his new computer. His IT guy discovered it had a lot of malware attached. It was downloaded from Filezilla webpage (not a third party) and "client" was chosen. All my staff and a good portion of my clients use Filezilla to access my FTP site - this could be potentially very harmful for me.

I'm using FileZilla and it has worked without problems for a long time. When I recently did an update I start to get problems with directory listings. I have now problems of logging into the FTP server. Then it comes to fetching directory listing it fails, the sequence is like this:

I've tried several times to transfer several large VMDK (VMware Disk) files via SFTP and noted that server hung several minutes into the transfer. I had walked away and could not determine why.

I started another transfer and watched the available RAM be reduced to 10% before I stopped Filezilla's transfer and closed the program. Upon closing the program, the RAM was not released. In fact, Process Viewer did not show the utilized RAM as associated with any program.

Confused further, I found a forum suggesting I run RAMMAN from Systernals to determine what was using all that memory. I found the VMDK file Filezilla was downloading was being transferred directly into RAM and the changes were not committing to disk as the download progressed. Smaller files (1-2MB, etc.) were committing to disk after the download was complete. The VMDK file I was downloading is ~56GB which is why the system's memory filled up and hung. There is not enough RAM to hold the entire VMDK.

I've had to turn to WinSCP to do my transfers which is 50% slower than Filezilla. Please let me know if there is any other info you require.

There are no images or files showing up in either the local or remote host. This happened after updating to the latest version of 3.9.0.5

When I click on the right side of the windows(Remote Website),if the folder name is chinese,then there will be another folder with messy code name,and the origional folder is still be shown in the list.

applying a filename change causes FileZilla (version 3.9.0.6 and earlier) to crash.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Click right on a file (of your local filesystem)
2. Select "Rename"
3. Change the name of the file
4. Apply your change by pressing [Enter].
5. => FileZilla crashes

Since the major update on FileZilla version 3.9.0 the performance became very poor and the GUI very unresponsive during file transfers. I found a similar ticket here in #9667.

I tested this doing a FTP file transfer (10 simultaneous transfers) of 4403 files in 337 subdirectories with a total size of 42,3 MB with the following results: FileZilla 3.9.0.6: Took about 8 minutes to do the transfer and the GUI was very unresponsive during the transfer.

FileZilla 3.8.1: Took lees than 2 minutes and the GUI was totally responsive during the whole transfer.

I currently decided to roll back to version 3.8.1 until this is fixed.

When installed the following error appears: Unsupported operating system

WTF! I am only running the automatic autoupdater within the application already running in my system! and running the proposed package!

Your automatic updater does not work and does not verify in which system FileZilla client is running before proposing the package to run for the update.

When I drag a file from local site to the remote site it prompts me for action. I select overwrite like I always have. Filezilla shows the upload progression and status. It gets to 100% and the actions window pops up again. If you select overwrite, the whole process starts again. If you hit cancel, it does cancel, but the file is always incomplete and not upload fully.

If on the actions screen I choose "always do this" in addition to the overwrite. Filezilla will just keep going through the process over and over automatically. It will keep doing it with no end.

I have successfully used Filezilla in the past with all the same settings. Since the last update I have not been able to retrieve the directory listings. I can access the FTP site via Windows Explorer and via browser with no issues. Tried Cute FTP which also worked well Below is the debug report from logging in. I am using an HP8560 FileZilla Client

i am using filezilla with porxy address of bsnl network.it deleting the part of file uploding.

In Ubuntu 14.10 if i connect to an ftp server and start renaming the files suddenly filezilla wont allow me to type anything. This bug dosent exist in Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit.

i use F2 to rename files and this is still possible to use. Also i can click in the name of a file and move the marker and mark text with the mouse, but i cant erase the names or type new text in the names. This happend very shortly after. If i connect to the ftp find a file and mark it for editing/renaming and go over in a browser or folder on my machine suddenly when i come back filezilla kinda freezes.. only thing to do is close filezilla and start it again and this happens everytime.. i cant even have filezilla open for 5 minutes and conencted..

Im running Ubuntu 64 bit and my local network is stable (Using lan cables and have transfer speeds on 100 MB/s (1000 Mbit)

I tried to debug filezilla, but the debug dosent catch anything related to what im doing.. (i will try to get some debug/logging that could be useful, but maby you just need to run Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit and rename files on your ftp.. when i enabled debug/logging it took longer time before it did freeze.

I'f there is no quick fix can i some how roll back to the last version?

It won't be anything my end ass my websites are with many different servers and i am a long term user of Filezilla

yesterday I got the update 3.10.0-rc1, and every time I try to upload a file the program start the uploading, then finish the uploading, then start the uploading again, the file never appear in the screen.

around version 3.10.0, Encryption on all Site Manager connections get reset on the upgrade to Use explicit FTP over TLS if available. it's a real pain to put them back on 200 entries one by one. I begin to wonder if somehow the setting in the XML file got globally set to this new value or the encryption setting simply got ignored due to a bug either in reading or writing the xml file.

if I change the entry, it stays changed, so I am guessing it only happened during the upgrade process.

strangely enough, I looked through the sitemanager.xml file, and nowhere do I see my Encryption type saved. so I guess it got dropped from some previous or current version. edited sample: <Server>

I am getting recurring file open errors for local files that have been opened once already.

I was not getting these in the prior version.

Cannot connect with quick connect, always timeout. In site Manager, I can connect but everytime must enter password even the remember password box is check. This problem only happens with this new version. How to correct?

Since the new update recently I am having serious issues with connecting and dropping out while transferring files to hosting server. If and when it does connect it fails after attempting to enter any other folders.

I can't edit again a same file. msg :

But when i start again Fillezilla, i can edit just one time the file or another file. The associated command is good one time.

Just started receiving an error 'The associated command failed' when right clicking a local file to edit once the file had previously been edited opened via FileZilla. I would expect to see the message like "This file is already open for editing..". This behaviour reoccurs without success.

First I open a file to edit, using right mouse click and choose "Edit". Then Notepad (the associated program) opens. When I close Notepad and then again choose "Edit" I get a warning: (translated from Dutch) File can't be opened. The corresponding command has failed.

This happened after I upgraded FileZilla Client to version 3.10.0.

After updating to 3.10.0.1 if i upload a file as root (to centos) the permissions are blanked - just set to dashes - reverting to previous version fixes the issue

Upgraded to 3.10.0.1 New files uploaded to server via SFPT now get no permissions where they used to be given default folder permissions.

I downloaded the latest version of Filezilla. All of my connections work except the one for the test Sybase Interface Engine. I get this error - Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NODATA - No address associated with nodename".

I have updated to the latest version of FileZilla 3.10.0.1 and i have found that new files i upload to my server all have no permissions what so ever.

I know it is not an issue with my server as i tested this with Transit and it worked as normal. I have used filezilla for as long as i can remember and this is the first time i have seen this issue. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same issues as i am.

I've updated to the latest version but now I can't get onto any of my sites because it just keeps timing out.

When editing a local file trough an external editor 'notepad++' first time it opens the file. Ok after closed the file trying to edit it again will show (filezilla error window) 'Associated command failed'. ​http://grab.by/DVtE It only can be opened again after restarting filezilla or renaming parent folder. (Note: must be connected to an ftp on secondary window.) It worked before 2 updates. Now is version filezilla 3.10.0.2

I have been unable to connect to my usual servers after I updated FileZilla yesterday. It was working fine before the update.

Error message: Connection timed out ... Could not connect to server.

I ran tracer command to see if I could reach the server — and I could. So it's not a machine or external connectivity issue.

Furthermore, I could reach the server and do normal upload functions via FireFTP, which is not my first choice. I definitely prefer FileZilla.

Have been using FileZilla. FTP had been working fine. Perhaps last update of FileZilla changed something – They updated yesterday. It does connect, and I do get the file listing at the Remote site. However:

During a file update (upload) I get a message: Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection. Response: 550 The supplied message is incomplete. The signature was not verified. Error: File transfer failed

• If the file to be updated is already at the Remote Site, I will have seen something happening at the Remote Site view of FileZila, then the target file disappears.

• Now if the target file of that name is not there, if I try again, it does upload the desired file … keep in mind, however, that I still get that error message.

This is true with other hosts I am using also.

My webhost website has an alternative, Cyberduck, and the update worked with that, but... I strongly prefer FileZilla interface.

The latest update is having issues connecting to my web host server...I am not the only one having this issue!!! Please can you fix this as soon as possible while I continue using the previous version.

First I connect to the server with the client and it is fast and no problems. I open the folders on server and on my pc so I can make a transfer. I doubleclick to transfer a file, and it reacts allright, but then it reports an error and for a slight second I can see the file in the list on the serverfolder and then it disappears. So instead of updating the file on the server the file is now missing!!!! I tried several times. This occured just after upgrading the client on automatic suggestion. Which I have done before without problems. Now this is extra annoying as it is the last thing I wanted to do before going on a travel tomorrow morning. And now instead of having an updated website I have a website with 2 missing files. Here is a copy of the report:

Ever since that last 2 updates I've been unable to connect to any remove hosts. I keep getting similar failures. For some reason it times out retrieve the directories. I've tried 2 other FTP clients and they resolve with no issue.

Since updating FileZilla Client from v3.10.0.2 to v3.10.1.1, when FileZilla prompts for my 'Unknown certificate' it no longer shows the checkbox for 'Always trust certificate for future sessions'.

Certificate is within the Validity period and host address matches the SAN. This is self-signed, with many SAN entries to cover all accessible hostnames the FTP is accessed from internally and externally.

I can only assume because of the number of SAN in the list, it pushes the checkbox off screen, and doesn't have anything to do with any problem or expiration of the certificate.

Only other issues I found similar to this were expired certificates where the checkbox was visible, but not selectable.

For me, it's not even visible.

After this update in cannot connect to my sever. it gives me some unknown certificate error and cannot connect to server. I downgraded to the previous version and its working fine.

I'm using the version of MinGW specified in the build notes for Windows. As part of r6137, a process.h was included in FileZilla 3; this conflicts with the process.h that is shipped with MinGW, causing the build to fail (it fails with a bunch of undefined symbols; the root cause here is pthread.h is including process.h, picking up the FileZilla one instead of the MinGW one and causing the errors).

I renamed the FileZilla process.h to fzprocess.h and changed the include files everywhere, and that seemed to solve the problem.

When importing a Site Manager entry, the Base64-encoded password entry is treated as a plain-text password.

Steps to reproduce (3.10.1.1 and 3.10.2-rc2): 1) File -> Export -> Export Site Manager entries 2) XML file contains a Base64-encoded password string, which correctly decodes to the plain-text password 3) Import the Site Manager entry 4) Password to the FTP site is not accepted anymore by the remote server 5) Repeat Site Manager Export 6) XML file contains a different, longer Base64-encoded password string, which decodes to a Base64-encoded password string from step 2, not the correct plain-text password

After editing a file locally and hitting 'yes' on the dialog to upload the changed file with 'delete local copy' checked, and then the file fails to transfer to the server, the file gets deleted anyway and there's no way to recover it.

When trying to FTP to Plesk 12.0 using Avtive or Passive mode we get the same issues.

i just updated today and never before had my filezila stopped downloading before finish error message : filezila has stoped working then it aborts the task

Upgraded FileZilla Client to 3.10.3, starting receiving the following error:

FTP sites stopped connecting, but external sftp sites were connecting properly.

Uninstalled 3.10.3 and reinstalled 3.9. To remain secure, is there a fix/patch that will allow us to use 3.10? If not, is there another solution?

Random instances of uploading using SFTP on a CUSTOM PORT working fine then upon a single or multiple file upload, we receive this message.

We are using iMacs running 10.7 10.8 running latest Filezilla 3.11.0.1 This began happening in previous version.

Generally we have to wait 5-10 minutes or so and after many reconnection/restart attempts we can again upload for a while. Seems to not matter how many or how few people are connected.

PERMISSIONS being set As a side note we are now also seeing files we upload all having no read or write permissions. We have to manually reset permissions. Server is a Dedicated Linux server we have been using in this way for a few years without these issues.

I have tested this on multiple FTP sites and have found a four hour time difference is displayed when uploading a file. This has caused issues with customers of ours who utilize this program on their files. Attached is a picture of a file I uploaded with the time it said it was uploaded 4:41 AM and the computer time 8:40 AM. I did not adjust any settings to the application or to my computer.

With the latest version of the client (3.12), Asian filenames aren't shown properly anymore.

I just upgraded to the new 3.12.0.1 release and discovered that it does not recognize folders in the server file listing as folders. It only shows them as files and tries to download them when double clicked on. The only way to access the folders is if you have the Synchronized browsing on and have the same folders in the local computer.

Using FZ for years, to manage web sites on hosted servers. With proper settings, FZ always preserved timestamps on upload as expected.

Each time FZ proposes to update, I do it. Currently I am on version 3.16.0 (last one). Today I do major updates and detects that timestamps on hosted server are NOT preserved. I have checked that setting IS active (see capture).

Of course, I can not control whether some change on hosted server is the origin of the issue.

What can I do for further investigation? I have activated log, but no data yet, I have to do some more uploads ...

I am trying to upgrade latest version of filezilla 3.16.1 but it is giving error in Windows vista and the upgradation stops in between and corrupts the older version too.

It took me 2 hours to find an older version and reinstall.

While processing a download queue, if a local disk becomes full, FileZilla aborts downloading to this disk and reports these files as successful.

Please see attached file for:

a) FileZilla build details and system details b) A sample log excerpt from a FileZilla session. Approximately 24 files were being downloaded, each between 150 MiB and 250 MiB. Names, paths and hostnames were redacted. No lines within this excerpt were omitted.

Expected behaviour: When target local disk is full, files being downloaded to this disk are reported as failed and show up in Failed transfers. Subsequent file downloads in the queue, to the same disk, should also be reported as failed. FileZilla's notification, when the queue is processed, should report an error.

Actual behaviour: All affected files are reported as Successful, show up in the Successful transfers list, and the FileZilla tooltip reports that all files transferred successfully.

Observations: The files being downloaded when disk becomes full are truncated, as expected. Other files in the queue are created as zero-byte files.

Several of us in our office upgraded to the latest and now it won't connect. I can access our Web/FTP server through Dreamweaver, a trial version of SmartFTP and Windows Explorer with no problems. I tried to uninstall FileZilla with RevoInstaller and tried to install an older version number that I know is working on another computer. No luck though. It still won’t connect for some reason, even though it works just fine on the older version on the other computer??? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version, no joy. I have turned off all firewalls on both client and server, no joy. I have made sure our IP is not in the banned list, it's not.

FileZilla just downloaded update 3.19.0-rc1 (2016-06-20). This update has not yet been installed. It's just sitting there in my Downloads folder. However, ever since the download of the update, when I try to open the Site Manager, it gives me this very scary warning:

First of all, we cannot copy-paste the error message, which sucks. Second of all, the error message is obviously wrong. The newer version is only downloaded, not installed yet, so how on earth can we ever have used it to create a new sitemanager.xml?? Third, *why* would data loss ever ensue from *loading* a file?? Data loss normally happens when we save a file...

This error message is very scary, because it basically tells you: Either press No and be unable to use FileZilla, or press Yes and ignore this warning at your own peril...

Took me some time to gather the courage to just press Yes...

Now today it happened again and I'm pretty sure now that this dialog is actually just testing the presence of something silly (such as a folder existing, or reg key or whatever) and is not actually looking at which version is installed. Once I install the downloaded update, the error disappears..

Maybe save the version of FileZilla in the sitemanager.xml? And maybe just make reading/writing sitemanager.xml more robust? It's XML. There is no real reason it should ever go corrupt just because some flag was not saved or was saved but not recognized...

I'd say prio is high because this happens every time you guys push an update and it's giving a very scary warning message that talks of corrupted data...

The program asks for but does not recognize it when I allow the use of a site with an old certificate. The program previously worked properly without asking for old certificate approval at all.

When downloading a file from server to local directory and the filename already exists, selecting the 'Rename' option displays a pop-up and allows a new file name to be entered.

However when submitting that new file name input by hitting 'Enter' or clicking on 'OK' to download using the new file name, no download occurs and the 'Target file already exists' window pops up again.

Essentially this function which has worked for years is now experiencing a bug issue in that it does not register the new file name and therefore does not download a renamed file.

Conversely though, when uploading a local file to the server, the Rename tool works as expected.

When transferring files successfully the notification that tells you when ALL files have been transferred while you aren't in the FileZilla windows appears to be delayed and does not appear when the transfer has finished for another 1-2min.

The issue with this is that it locks my taskbar and I cannot use it until this notification is displayed.

Previously, Success message are shown in green and failure messages are shown in red, now all output log are shown in black. This only occurs in new version 3.21.0 and there's no way to change this in settings.

I just updated to Version 3.22 and tried to connect to one of my servers via sftp. but the connection couldn't be established. I can't connect to any of my servers.

After downgrade to 3.21 everything worked fine. So it's definitely a bug in new version 3.22.

One of my users upgraded FileZilla on her Windows PC to version 3.22.0.

When she tries to connect to an AIX server she gets the following message:

What changed between FileZilla 3.7.1.1 and 3.22.0. ?
