#7230 Unable to 'make install' filezilla 3.3.5.1 normal fixed 13 years 13 years
Description

I am a researcher currently analysing several versions of filezilla. I was able to cross-compile and make filezilla-3.2.7.1 without any issues however when trying to install filezilla-3.3.5.1 and filezilla-3.3.4.1 I run into troubles. I am running Kubuntu 10.04.1. OS. Here is the screen dump.

Making install in locales make[1]: Entering directory `/home/raula/Documents/fz3/filezilla-3.3.5.1/compile/locales'

/usr/local/bin/wxrc: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_baseu_xml-2.9.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory make[1]: * [resources.h] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/raula/Documents/fz3/filezilla-3.3.5.1/compile/locales' make: * [install-recursive] Error 1

Also I have wxwidgets-2.8.11. I had previously wxwidgets-2.9 but uninstalled it because I saw it was unstable.

Can you help me build these two versions?

#7253 Hang if disconnected normal outdated 13 years 10 years

While using SFTP, filezilla is aware of that the connection is lost between the server and client (timeout i think), but it still tries to send command (when you try to refresh, it sends ls and hangs i.e.)

It should first connect and then send the command.

#7260 Managed Hosting - How Fully Managed Hosting Benefits Business Nowadays normal invalid 13 years 13 years
Description

http://www.homebusinesswebdesign.com/onlineasapclients/Portals/12/web-hosting-geeks1.jpg

It is common knowledge that managed hosting brings nothing but benefits and advantages to the person or the business that uses the said Hosts MANAGER. And with good reason since with the use of the host management, the client will be able to maximize and manages the full potential of their internet connection. Have you have ever experienced getting something from the cyber space but it took long to complete because a lot of people are also doing the same thing that you are doing? Well, that is not good for any business venture.

http://www.egressone.com/files/cool_blue.jpg

And that is what the person or the business can get to avoid if he or she avails of the managed hosting. If the person can do transactions easily over the world wide web, then the chances are very high that he or she will be able to reap a higher profit margin. And all that is simply because of the Managed Hosting that was availed of by the person in the first place.

#7263 Directory separator problem low outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

I am using an embedded FTP server from Green Hills. It follows in the Linux tradition using a slash, '/', to separate directory levels. When I connect with FileZilla it attempts to set the working directory using backslashes, '\', which results in an error. The display shows folders with question marks. (Presumably as a consequence.) FZ then does a PWD and appears to then recognize that slashes are to be used. Subsequent commands use slashes and there are no more problems. Would it make sense to issue a PWD as soon as the connection is opened and use the response to direct how to format all future directory-related commands? See the sequence below:

#7265 GUI overwrite of top menu and toolbar area normal duplicate 13 years 12 years
Description

The top menu, toolbar area of icons and quick connect is being overwritten by scrolling text in the connect and actions information text area. (I don't know it's official name) This happens consistently every time the program is used. When you pass the cursor over the menu or some toolbar icons, they sometimes come back. (the icon hover toggle) This has happened for some time and is still occurring with the latest release.

#7270 SFTP private key (ppk) not loaded when file name has special characters high worksforme 13 years 6 years
Description

In some cases a private key file (ppk) cannot be loaded from the file system to be used for SFTP authentification.

This happens when the ppk file name or the path to the ppk file have special characters like German Umlauts.

Whether the ppk file name is provided by the FileZilla or PuTTY settings is irrelevant.

Only exception: If 'iso-8859-1' is set as the charset of a connection in the Site Manager, the ppk file name is interpreted correctly.

#7272 Connection to server defined by command line options always uses more than one connection low invalid 13 years 7 years
Description

When the client is started automatically from another program, using command line options to specify the server, the client will not limit the number of connections to 1. When connected to a server that supports only 1 ftp connection at a time, no file transfers are possible.

This worked in client V2.2.32 (but this older version had other issues). When i use the ServerManager as a test, i can limit the number of connections to 1, then everything works, but this is not a solution, i cannot use the ServerManager for all possible automatically connections.

#7277 Firewall Conflict (Binaries have changed) high rejected 13 years 13 years
Description

I have been using FileZilla and PCTools internet security concurrently without problems for 5 months now. The new version of Filezilla appears to modify it's own binaries after EVERY command line sent/received. This means I have to "allow" it 5 times just to make a connection, let alone navigate or upload/download.

Filezilla Version 3.4.0 PC Tools Version 2011 8.0.0.608

If the new FileZilla does modify its own binaries, wouldn't there be problems with most firewalls/security software? It seems that data should be stored externally in some sort of database.

#7284 'failed to write xml file' normal duplicate 13 years 10 years
Description

Hi there, I have an ASUS Eee PC, Netbook (1G RAM). I only recently installed filezilla and did so under the instruction of my web hosts -- who say they are quite familiar with the program. I have successfully made several connections to their server and uploaded files onto it. This is the primary reason I installed the program. The last three times I have started filezilla, a series of error messages have been popping up (see attached images). I have to click 'OK' on the boxes, of which there might be anything up to seven or eight. Two or three appear as the program opens and three always appear at the end of the session. This doesn't seem to be affecting my ability to connect to the remote server; I have performed a test connection and uploaded a file to check. I'm just wondering is this an omen of worse problems to come. Thanks, Kath T Today I also downloaded the newest version of filezilla, hoping the problem would stop, but it didn't. I just started up and shut down filezilla and have taken screenshots of every error alert I have to click through; errors 01.gif and 02.gif appeared at the beginning and the rest at the end. I have checked to see the destination folders in the error messages and the files mentioned are there, but I don't know much about what the messages mean.

#7287 Uploading problems with encryption (Linux only) high fixed 13 years 10 years
Description

This log is anonymized. Size of cloudy_violet.JPG is 833,949 bytes. Filezilla 3.4.0 client (Linux) with encryption (Require explicit FTP over TLS).The connection timeout is nonsense. The FTP server is the last one which is sending an ACK and is waiting for Filezilla to do something - checked with wireshark. Without encryption, everything is working fine under Linux - but with encryption see this log. Only max. 180,224 bytes per session possible. Firewall was not active. Filezilla 3.4.0 client under Windows Vista is working flawlessly (with no encryption and encryption, too).

#7318 .htaccess not showing normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

Hello,

I have read the previous posts regarding the .htaccess issue. I have enabled the raw logs and my .htaccess file is showing up. I am using FileZilla 3.0.4

Listing: type=file;size=17;modify=20110428014334;UNIX.mode=0604;UNIX.uid=7645816;UNIX.gid=100450;unique=1ag2d27955; .htacess

I also have enabled my server to "Force showing hidden files". I have this working on other machines but I have not been able to get it working since I reinstalled Win XP Pro. This isn't the end of the world because you can manually transfer a file but its kind of annoying when it used to work.

Thanks

#7324 FileZilla client crashes after deleting a local file normal outdated 13 years 11 years
Description

Program crashes after deleting a file on the local machine.

I run the latest version 3.4.0 of FileZilla client on Ubuntu 11.04. Before deleting a file on the local machine from inside the program, I had connected to an ftp server an copied a file across. After this, the program is frozen, and the only option to recover is to reboot the machine. The name of the deleted file was index.php~.

#7327 Can't show folder started with dot normal outdated 13 years 10 years
Description

When I accessed a server what only support "Active" transfer mode. It's folder can't display a folder with started with dot.

The fact is we have a folder /a/.b/ on the server, but the remote view panel show "Empty directory listing". While CuteFTP can show this folder well.

Command: CWD to_adobe Response: 250 Folder changed to "/a". Command: PWD Response: 257 "/a" is current folder. Status: Directory listing successful

#7334 When viewing a directory with more than 9998 files, the file list is truncated at 9998 normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

Summary Basically, in the event you have a directory containing tens of thousands of files (like a logs directory) FileZilla only shows the first 9998 files.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Put 10 or 15k files in a directory
  • FTP into that folder

Result: First 9998 files are listed

I wrote a crappy bash script that will create an arbitrary number of files in helping to help with reproducing this corner case of a bug: http://pastie.org/1875855

To use it:

  • Create whatever.sh in a folder you want to test within
  • Execute: chmod a+x whatever.sh to make it executable
  • Run it as ./whatever.sh
  • It will ask how many files you want

Other Stuff: I have reproduced this on Windows and OSX.

I can test on Linux if someone asks but I don't have a VM currently accessible so I took the lazy route :X

#7335 Large files change size when copying to a linux ftp server. normal outdated 13 years 11 years
Description

I created a ghost of my system which resulted in 3 files, 2 were 2147474666 bytes and the last was 654114517 bytes. If I copy these 3 files from windows xp to windows xp using native windows networking the destination files are created with the correct sizes. But if I use filezilla 3.4.0 to copy these files from windows to a linux server running an unpatched centos 5.4 distro, the file sizes at the destination are not the same as the source, different by several kb. If I run ghost, and verify the copied-to-linux image files (over a samba connection), ghost claims that the image is corrupted.

#7337 System freeze on Ubuntu 11.04 normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

Just upgraded Ubuntu to 11.04 from 10.10.

I had no issue with Filezilla at all on 10.10. Now random freezes occur which make Filezilla totally unresponsive and require a restart, the app won't terminate normally when locked up.

I can't identify a specific action that can cause it - its appears to be random.

Ubuntu reports I have this version: 3.3.5.1-1ubuntu1 (filezilla)

#7340 FileZilla Client (Windows) uses IPv6 in preference to IPv4 - Fallback to IPv4 does not work in all cases normal rejected 13 years 13 years
Description

Ticket #4204 is still an issue:

In preparation of the World IPv6 Day at 8 June 2011 we added AAAA Records in the DNS to the host names of our servers.

We can successful connect to all the services at the server via IPv6 - with the exception of the FileZilla Server, that does not offer IPv6 support.

This should not be an issue, because the Clients like web browsers or mail clients typically first try IPv6 and then fallback to IPv4, if no IPv6 connection can be established.

But the FileZilla Client does no fallback to the IPv4 address (what is also sent by the DNS server), FTP doesn't work any longer.

This could get an big issue and could cast a damning light on the FileZilla Client after IPv6 will be enabled by more and more ISP - not only at the World IPv6 Day!

#7347 Won't reconnect after timeout (input_pushback not null!) normal duplicate 13 years 12 years
Description

When connected to a server via SFTP, and it times out and disconnects, FileZilla doesn't automatically reconnect when selecting a remote folder in the folder tree. Instead, it gives an 'input_pushback not null!' error, followed by another error: 'Failed to retrieve directory listing.'

Clicking on yet another folder will force a reconnect. It's just selecting the first folder that gives this error. It used to work fine, but has been broken for 6 months or so.

#7349 FileZilla 3.50 RC1/RC2 build bug found normal fixed 13 years 13 years

#7350 Confusing option on prompt after a file being edited has been changed normal fixed 13 years 9 years
Description

1) Right click a local file and chose "Edit". 2) Make a change to this file. 3) Switch back to FileZilla. 4) On the prompt whether to upload the file check "Finish editing and delete local file". 5) Answer with "Yes" or "No". This does not seem to matter.

To my understanding the local file is the file I chose for editing. However, this file is still there afterwards. I am not sure what the expected behavior in this case is. Personally I like the current one, but I am confused by the option saying the file will be removed.

#7351 Wrong failure reason for local permission problems low duplicate 13 years 11 years
Description

FileZilla 3.5.0-rc2

To reproduce try to download a file to a folder where FileZilla has no write privileges. On current Windows version this could be C:\ for example as this would require elevated privileges.

The download appears correctly on the tab for failed transfers, but the reason is "Transferring".

#7354 The client may 'badly' create files on Windows, breaking accented letters normal worksforme 13 years 13 years
Description

I had problems with accented letters with Filezilla client freshly downloaded last friday, on a Windows 7 (which I expect to use unicode for filenames).

HYPOTHESIS both of the bug and what is causing it ;-)

I believe that if the filename contains a 'e acute' with unicode value 0xE9 and so have UTF8 value 0xC3 0xA9, then the created file will have the 'e acute' replaced with two unicode characters. The first being unicode value 0xC3 (A tilde) and the second the unicode value 0xa9 (copyright sign). Which I guess could happens if the createFile windows function called was the non-unicode one rather than the unicode one.

#7385 FileZilla 3.5.0 takes down my wireless router normal rejected 13 years 10 years
Description

after update to 3.5.0 (was working fine between same two machines a couple of days ago - only significant change is FileZilla client upgrade) connecting to one of my servers takes down my wireless router. By which I mean it kills the connection between client machine and router, and also connection between iMac (different machine) and iPhone.

Steps: 1) wireless connected fine on all three devices. these are the only devices connected to wireless, and client machine (Win7 laptop) and iMac are not using DHCP (iPhone is) 2)Attempt connection to a specific server (which happens to be running FileZilla Server - message logs from both ends of connection at bottom of report). Initial connection fine, but on the PORT step connection hangs. As I say, this worked fine between the same two machine in 3.4.x just a couple of days ago 3)All three devices are no longer able to connect to wireless. 4)Physically reset wireless router 5)Rinse and repeat (6 - 8 times before filing bug report)

Other notes: 1) windows command-line ftp works fine to drop files between these two machines

#7397 wrong number of files high outdated 13 years 12 years

Please fix it. Thank you

#7398 Directory listing seems to be limited to 7,998 files normal outdated 13 years 12 years
Description

When viewing a remote directory FileZilla will display a maximum of 7,998 files. I can log in via SSH and verify there are 17,438 jpg files in the given directory using the command "ls | wc -l".

None of the files hidden by FileZilla are hidden on the server, nor does my FTP login lack the permissions to see them (I use the same login for SSH, and the files are visible there).

This is occurring on a HostMonster.com account. I am unable to test whether this problem is limited to HostMonster.

To reproduce:

  1. Put more than 7,998 files into a directory
  2. Use FileZilla client to list the contents of that directory
  3. Note that only 7,998 are shown

Client version 3.5.0

#7399 configuration files in linux are not located according to the freedesktop guidelines normal fixed 13 years 9 years
Description

Configuration files should be in $HOME/.config/package/ as per the freedesktop guidelines: $XDG_CONFIG_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific configuration files should be stored. If $XDG_CONFIG_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.config should be used. See here: http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html for more details. I think this is a fairly easy task to do, and if everybody followed these guidelines we could maybe finally get rid of all these .dirs in the home directory.

#7457 Failed to retrieve directory listing, therfore FZ fails to upload files high duplicate 13 years 10 years
Description

Our FTP server (Globalscape) has a no list files permission, so clients uploading cannot view or list the files on the server (security reasons). This has been working fine with previous version of FZ (3.1, 3.2), however in the latest version of FZ 3.5, this no longer works. Other FTP clients work fine also. As it used to work fine on previous versions of FZ, and now on new v3.5 no longer works, then I would categories it as a bug. Our problem is that we recommend our users to use FZ, as it's very simple robust, but were now getting clients reporting problems as they upgrade. Problem occurs on both the Windows and mac clients.

#7474 tool bar normal duplicate 13 years 12 years
Description

I would like to report in your software the toolbar will disappear from the screen when the message log is scrolling.

I currently own the Toshiba and I noticed on your previous version of your software. This bug did not do this and the toolbar stayed exactly where it was and did not disappear. The only time I can get the toolbar to reappear is when I have to hit F5 and refresh the screen or minimize the window and then maximize it again which will cause the toolbar to reappear at which point we'll stay in its normal position without flickering so every time I open up the program before using it. I have to minimize the screen and then maximize it and then work up from there. I don't think it is my computer because the previous version did not do this. I just recently of graded to the newest version within a week and I noticed this glitch I don't know if anybody else is happening. This type of problem, but it is worth looking into because your program is such an asset to the community.

I captured a screenshot live of what it does but I see no way to import it into your ticket system to show you exactly what's going onif you need further information or you want to see in this video that captured of what exactly going on. Please contact me and I will find a way to get to the footage

#7744 At 16,385 files, Filezilla goes into an infinite loop high outdated 13 years 10 years
Description

I have done 3 times. I am using FileZilla 3.5.1 on my PC, MS-Windows, Ver 5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_....:Service Pack 3) I want to transfer 62,424 files, with names like PHO_0xxxxxxx-5_1003457.HL7;1 to an USB drive (E:) on my PC. I am connected to a VAX OpenVMS V8.2. To gather the names (LIST in FTP) takes about an hour. I then do a CTRL-A on the names in the "remote directory" screen, and put it into the "Home" screen. I am also watching My "Task Master" Perforamce tab, to watch the CPU Usage screen. After about 45 minutes, CPU Usage becomes 100% usage and no more files are being copied. I "stop" Filezilla and check the number of files on my USB "Memery stick" and all 3 times the same number files, 16,385. 16,385 = 214 + 1. These files are anywhere 1KB big to 120KB big. And they are 100% text files, or HL7 files.

If possible, let me know. Thanks

#7748 CRITICAL FILE TRANSFER ERROR normal outdated 13 years 10 years
Description

For years I have relied on FileZilla to overwrite existing files as a method to change the existing item. What I ended up doinf is deleting and then uploading the new file. Now after trying numerous times I get the message "Critical File transfer error". At first I thought it was my upload speed but its not, as I successfully changed files last week. The only difference is that I receive updates from Filezilla and because I chose to let it update for me, it would appear that trying to overwrite is next to impossible. Any suggestions?

#7760 Jan 01 1601 Directory normal worksforme 13 years 10 years
Description

The SFTP server is a IPSwitch WS_FTP Enterprise Server, version 7.5.1.2. There are two virtual directories in a home folder but a folder named "Jan 01 1601" is added to every site that I connect to. The folder does not exist at the file system and is not a virtual directory.

After some research the date "Jan 01 1601" has some significance in Windows. "January 1 of this year (1601-01-01) is used as the base of file dates[1] and of Active Directory Logon dates[2] by Microsoft Windows" -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1601

I've used tested the same site with WinSCP and native sftp in RedHat Enterprise Linux 5. The other SFTP clients does not display this folder.

See attached files for more details.
