#10377 File Prioritization No Longer Works After Update normal worksforme 9 years 9 years
Description

Hi there... We've found Filezilla to be a fantastic tool, but after your recent update, one of your more helpful features, prioritization, no longer works. It appears that once files are uploaded, Filezilla only deals with one server at a time in chronological order. Highest priority files are ignored for ones that were put in the queue first. Thus, we've had a lot of low priority files consuming time and bandwidth. Please address this. It's very challenging to use FZ without this feature working. Thanks.

#7812 FileZilla crash when Windows Homegroup device disconnected low worksforme 13 years 9 years
Description

Filezilla crashes when I access my laptop from FileZilla, then disconnect the laptop from my Homegroup and try to navigate away from the laptop directory.

Steps to reproduce the crash:

  1. Connect a device to your homegroup
  2. Access the device on FileZilla (Local site) by going to
    COMPUTERNAME
  3. Disconnect the same device you access
  4. Attempt to navigate away from the device
#10379 FileZilla v3.10.3 Unresponsive low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Since upgrading to v3.10.3 Filezilla has become slower and slower when connecting to my two main servers

It connects and then hangs on 'waiting for welcome message' after about 40 seconds it then displays the directory - once connected, switching between the directories is rapid, but as soon as it needs to reconnect (or upload a file) there is that long delay.

Both servers are running Centos 5 Linux - I have tried using both normal FTP (unsecured) and FTP with TLS, neither make a difference.

The problem was exacerbated in v3.10.3 (the previous v3.10 was not quite as bad), so I have had to uninstall the program and revert to an earlier version

#5383 multiple concurrent uploads fail with SFTP low rejected 14 years 9 years
Description

This may be related to this bug:

http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/3477

Two years old and long since closed, but this appears to be the same (or a similar) issue.

Uploading multiple files in multiple folders, over SFTP, with multiple concurrent uploads (5 is my setting), doesn't work with all servers.

The problem is, the client makes no intelligent decisions about the order in which uploads are processed.

That is, if you're uploading "folder_a/file_a" and "folder_a/file_b", the order in which these happen to occur, is unpredictable - it depends on whether or when a thread happens to be available.

So when "file_a" begins to upload, the folder is created - but if at the same time "file_b" begins, and assumes the folder has been created, but the previous request didn't complete yet, it will fail.

#10325 Corrupt Image Uploads low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Hello

I have recently upgraded to the latest version of FileZilla Client and it seems that there is a bug when it comes to uploading images. Since I had upgraded to the latest version, all images I upload to my server has been detected as corrupt. It was fine before the upgrade.

I did a test and when I use the server web uploader, the images are being detected fine and I can use them. When uploading with Filezilla, the images turn out to be corrupt.

Here is my version details:

#10331 Servers password lost low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

After i installed the 3.10 version all my passwords was base64 encoded. Now i can't connect to any server in the list. Passwords are longer than before.

I downgraded to 3.9.0.6 but i always get the login error. How can i retrieve my passwords? I'm trying with base64 decoder online. But it doesn't work. If i re-set passwords manually it works. The problem is that i don't have all my old password's clients. Anyone can help me?

#10376 Latest Released Version (3.10.*) Bug and Site Manager Entries Not being taken backup by Filezilla during Updation of new version low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

I am also a victim of latest released version of Filezilla FTP Client 3.10.* bug which totally crashed/changed all of my FTP account informations (nearly 100 +) stored in the SiteManager.xml file encoded with base64 secure password mode from normal insecure mode and also changed each/every encryption mode to Use Explicit FTP over if TLS available.

I have seen lot of tickets raised by so many users regarding the latest release version bug and response/reply provided by Filezilla Development team for the tickets showing their irresponsibility, inability, incapability and inexperience in handling/ providing a solution for the reported issue. Also trying to escape from the issue without providing a solid/concrete solution.

Why wouldn't the process of automated backup of SiteManager file not being included for each and every updation of filezilla FTP client. If it is included or available which keeps avoiding many complications occur after updation and also easiest for the users to revert back to working version using the backup-ed version of sitemanager without spending so much time in research process after updation and waiting to hear an permanent solution from your end which never going to happen.

#10423 File Size error normal rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

When I retrieve from my server a very large file, in this case 4.42GB, filezilla reads the size wrong, ~260 MB. The download goes succesfully (I guess it doesn't stop until it reaches EOF) but I get the >100% message which is annoying since I dont know if its about to finish/ever going to.

Its not a server error becuase my android ftp client reads the size correctly.

#10412 Filezilla opens in such a way that I can't access it on my Macs display! normal fixed 9 years 9 years
Description

When I open Filezilla it opens on the screen of my 17" Macbook Pro in a way that does NOT allow me to use it because the top half of the opened program is stuck ABOVE the top of my display and I can't drag or move it anywhere else on my screen to use it. PLEASE SEE SCREENSHOT. I have tried to open it while using an external monitor and without an external monitor and the problem persists either way. I sent a support ticket (or maybe it was a forum post) quite a long time ago and the problem is still there and even with the latest version. I'm amazed that no one else has reported this since then. I set up the "debug" for 3 like you said but I don't see how I can access that information to give to you. Please fix because I really need to use Filezilla asap.

Thank you very much.

#10410 Proxy Settings Update normal worksforme 9 years 9 years
Description

Hello, if I want to do an update of Filezilla client, there is no connection to internet. In our system we use an proxy server. We use the internet settings to set up the proxy settings. In some programs there is the possibility to set up an proxy or the program uses the proxy from internet settings, but filezilla doesn't do this. Can you give the chance to setup the proxy for updater in later versions?

#1349 Error when attempting to drag and drop to desktop. normal 16 years 9 years
Description

After upgrading to version 3.0.5.2, I connected to a server and attempted to drag and drop a small text file from the server pane to my desktop and got the following error message: "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window." A folder was created on my desktop with the name "fz3-12003270676720".

Since I have performed this operation in the past without a problem (not sure of my previous version, but it was a very recent one) I assume that this is a bug. No trace messages appeared in the message window during this operation.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2.

#10411 Large files continue to download after reaching 100% normal rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Large files (>about 200Mb) get to 100% download and then after a short time commence downloading again. The resultant downloaded file is exactly twice the size of the original file. This does not seem to happen with smaller files and happens with transfer settings at both Auto and Binary. I am using Version 3.10.3

Patch: src/engine/misc.cpp int GetRandomNumber(int min, int max) {

wxASSERT(min <= max); if (min >= max)

return min;

/* JJS Commented out May 3, 2015

std::uniform_int_distribution<int> dist(min, max); return dist(std::random_device());

/* JJS Added these two lines right from the GCC random documentation... */

std::random_device rd; std::mt19937 gen(rd());

std::uniform_int_distribution<int> dist(min, max); return dist(gen);

I would submit a patch, but I suspect the "real" fix is much simpler. I've been away from GCC for a while...

======================

Using this version I cannot get the folder info on the ftp server. After a connection is made I get an "error" about the certificate used. I accept that message using the Ok button. After that the connection continues but then stops at the LIST command. This does not seem to be related to the certificate error but I am not sure. However, Filezilla 3.9.x has no problem using the site. In case it is relevant, the (Dutch) warning is: Het certificaat van de server is onbekend. Controleer het certificaat zorgvuldig om vast te stellen of de server vertrouwd kan worden.

It says the certificat is unknow. Should that be the certificate or the certificate chain as it seems to be a normal Verisign certificate. It is a RSA-SHA-1 2048bit certificate in case that is relevant.

I connect, can upload etc but all of a sudden, I see this in the logging: 09:32:01 Opdracht: PORT 192,168,188,31,252,91 09:32:01 Antwoord: 500 Illegal PORT command 09:32:01 Opdracht: PASV 09:32:01 Antwoord: 227 Entering Passive Mode (212,26,193,125,235,92). 09:32:01 Opdracht: MLSD 09:32:01 Antwoord: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for MLSD 09:32:01 Antwoord: 425 Unable to build data connection: Operation not permitted 09:32:01 Fout: Ontvangen van mappenlijst is mislukt

The ftp server has an IP in the 212 range so it is not local, the PORT command is something local but gets an 'Illegal PORT command' as response. Connection is then lost and I need to disconnect and reconnect to proceed.

==> "AUTH TLS" command is killing the login process on some FTP server when using "Quick Connect" on FileZilla. TLS should not be enforced on simple ftp:// login, or you should add a checkbox to activate/deactivate TLS, just next to the "Quickconnect" button. I don't know if this is a bug report or a feature request~ it is certainly a problem for inexperienced users.

==> Login works fine when: a) Using the FileZilla Site Manager and picking the "Only use plain FTP (insecure)" option b) Adding a network location within Windows c) Using Internet Explorer

When importing a Site Manager entry, the Base64-encoded password entry is treated as a plain-text password.

Steps to reproduce (3.10.1.1 and 3.10.2-rc2): 1) File -> Export -> Export Site Manager entries 2) XML file contains a Base64-encoded password string, which correctly decodes to the plain-text password 3) Import the Site Manager entry 4) Password to the FTP site is not accepted anymore by the remote server 5) Repeat Site Manager Export 6) XML file contains a different, longer Base64-encoded password string, which decodes to a Base64-encoded password string from step 2, not the correct plain-text password

Since we upgraded to 3.10.2 DBF files arrive damaged. After a few records the content and fields seems shifted somehow. Additional problem is that we can't go back to an earlier version of Filezilla easily as the passwords are now crypted (good thing...) but in the previous version they weren't. See the damage in the picture, from record 81. The original DBF is attached too; you should be able to read it in Excel for example.

Although, when you run it in Admin mode it works well.

#10264 toolbar and top of window are cut off on laptop as second screnn normal duplicate 9 years 9 years
Description

System: Mac OS 10.9.5 FileZilla Client 3.10.1.1 I am running a laptop connected to a larger monitor. Monitor and laptop windows align at top. Dock is on larger monitor but applications open on laptop.

Steps to reproduce: Open FileZilla client from dock or direct from applications folder. FileZilla opens on laptop screen. Toolbar is not visible, though it is checked on view menu. Top of main window is not visible, so initial file listing is only partly visible. There is no way to drag the window down.

#10294 Title bar and window controls offscreen after changing monitor (Mac OSX) normal duplicate 9 years 9 years
Description

On my Mac OS X (10.9.5) MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), when I unplug my external monitor the FileZilla window adapts to the new smaller built-in display by moving the entire window upward, leaving the title bar and upper panel offscreen. It remembers this new window position to that the title bar and upper panel remain offscreen even when I plug the large monitor back in, and worse, even when I quit and restart FileZilla. I cannot reach the window Zoom button, since the title bar is offscreen, and there is no Window menu from which to choose a Zoom command. On the built-in monitor, I haven't found any way out; the only solution I have found is to reattach the large monitor, go to Mission Control, and drag the FileZilla window to the smaller built-in monitor. After leaving Mission Control, FileZilla still spreads over the top edge of the built-in monitor, but the title bar is now visible on the large monitor and I can once again drag the app window and use the Zoom button. (My monitor arrangement is the 2560x1600 monitor above, with the menu bar, and the 1200x800 built-in display below left-aligned.) I can provide screen shots if needed.

#10304 Versions 10.** will not connect with my previous FTP servers normal rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

I love FileZilla and have used this program for years. I've never had an issue until this latest batch of updates. The last version that works for me is 3.9.0.6. Anything after that installs and opens fine. However, when trying to connect to my saved website (as I always have in the past - changing nothing), I get the message that it is "Retrieving directory listing...". It sits there for almost 30 seconds, then quickly spools through a few commands and ends with the red "Error: Connection timed out" and "Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing". Nothing in the settings for the connection has been changed, yet every version after the one listed gives me this problem. I have resorted to downgrading to the last working build to be able to access my websites. What is happening and how can I fix it?

#10290 Unable to do a new Install of FileZilla_3.10.2_win32-setup on Windows7 and 8 normal fixed 9 years 9 years
Description

1) 2 days ago I tried to install FZ on the computer of a friend. This was a new installation.

Environment: Windows 8 + internet Explorer (IE) + Kapersky as antivirus I analyzed the exe installation file once downloaded with Kapersky, no issue reported. When I executed the file, it was hanging with an empty or black pop-up windows openening. I had to stop the computer and restart it

I think the file was around 700 ko ( the same size than the one mentioned by IE while confirming the download).

2) Today on my computer, where FZ is installed since a long time, and is runing as expected, I received an update and I see that FileZilla_3.10.2_win32-setup.exe is around 6064 Ko I got no issue while installing an using this new update.

Then I tried to download FileZilla from FZ site on my computer: Windows 7 + Chrome + Norton

Norton stopped the downloading sending messages as : "c90f.tmp (suspicious.Cloud9) deleted"

At the end no file is downloaded

the file c90f.tmp is loaded from http://cdn.qualitycontenthouse.com

Is the downloaded file corrupted? or is it a malware? I have no more access to the Windows 8 environment and hope to have not installed a malware on this computer which is not mine.

In both cases I started the download from: https://forum.filezilla-project.org/ and was redirected to sourceforge

Thanks for your time

#10298 Error Replacing Files normal invalid 9 years 9 years
Description

Hi There,

I have been experiencing an error lately when I attempt to drop files into folders that are intended to replace outdated files. Perhaps some context will help...

We operate an online storefront for Neighborhood Health Plan. They have thousands of products which are identified by product codes. For example, one item might be labeled "11020". Each product has a thumbnail and full sized image which we drop into a directory in Filezilla, which we pull from when "creating the product". Thumbnail images have a _2 suffix, with _1 for the full sized image.

Now, lets say they print a new version of 11020 with new graphics, new colors, etc.. In this case we would need to create and drop in new thumbnails. So I would Scale and crop the image, save as 11020_1 and 11020_2, and drop it into the appropriate directory. When I do this, I see a prompt asking me If I want to replace the existing files with these new ones. I click yes to replace, but the file never gets swapped out. I find that the only option I have is to change the suffix to _T and _F for the new file to be available.

There are several other ramifications for this replace file bug, but I figured this was the easiest way to describe it.

#10215 Updates Never not working low rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Hello. I got an update recently which messed up my secure FTP functionality. As such, I installed the previous version of Filezilla client (btw, with one slip of the finger I was "rewarded" with extra software that was extremely annoying and was quite difficult to fully uninstall, nearly malware. I guess that's how Sourceforge rolls now, probably not your fault.)

Anyway...because of the above, I tried the feature where in Settings... Updates you can choose "Never". This apparently doesn't work. Now I'm nagged every single time I use the program. And yes, I already know that there was some fix that deals with secure connections, so I might try my luck and see if the program works again for secure stuff.

So I'd call it non-urgent priority, even though it's super annoying. :)

Thanks for your help.

Hi, for about 3 months or more I have problem when I try drag&drop folder/file to my Explorer, so I have to download it to current local directory set in FileZilla :/ I am updating with releases continously, so FileZilla is reinstalled very often. I hope you could help me. Let me know if any logs/raports are needed. Greetings

#10202 New tab overlays old tab; cannot change between them normal fixed 9 years 9 years
Description

I connect to a server, then establish a connection to a different server in a new tab.

(See screenshot 1.)

Instead of creating a new tab alongside the old one, it creates a new screen that overlays the old one, but is slightly smaller.

There is no way to switch between the two tabs.

(See screenshot 2.)

This has been a problem since FileZilla version 3.9.0.6. I am now using FileZilla version 3.10.1.1, and the problem remains.

  • View/Edit filder2/file1.php
  • File has changed dialog appears even if it is not changed

Using editor Notepad++ (not upgraded recently)

#10267 Completely hide entire local tree and folders normal duplicate 9 years 9 years
Description

Currently you can only hide the local tree view. I don't use the local section. I only use the remote section and drag & drop.

Is there a way to hide the entire local section? It's extra space that I could use.

Sadly it only collapses so far and that's it.

I would like to hide the entire local section. If my attachment works it will be marked red.

#10182 File Upload/Update fail after yesterdays update high rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

Have been using FileZilla. FTP had been working fine. Perhaps last update of FileZilla changed something – They updated yesterday. It does connect, and I do get the file listing at the Remote site. However:

During a file update (upload) I get a message: Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection. Response: 550 The supplied message is incomplete. The signature was not verified. Error: File transfer failed

  • If the file to be updated is already at the Remote Site, I will have seen something happening at the Remote Site view of FileZila, then the target file disappears.
  • Now if the target file of that name is not there, if I try again, it does upload the desired file … keep in mind, however, that I still get that error message.

This is true with other hosts I am using also.

My webhost website has an alternative, Cyberduck, and the update worked with that, but... I strongly prefer FileZilla interface.

#10199 FTP over TLS fails on IIS without all patches installed high rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

First I connect to the server with the client and it is fast and no problems. I open the folders on server and on my pc so I can make a transfer. I doubleclick to transfer a file, and it reacts allright, but then it reports an error and for a slight second I can see the file in the list on the serverfolder and then it disappears. So instead of updating the file on the server the file is now missing!!!! I tried several times. This occured just after upgrading the client on automatic suggestion. Which I have done before without problems. Now this is extra annoying as it is the last thing I wanted to do before going on a travel tomorrow morning. And now instead of having an updated website I have a website with 2 missing files. Here is a copy of the report:

#10165 Proxy ignored for SFTP connections (Regression from 3.9.0.6) normal fixed 9 years 9 years
Description

Since version 3.10.0, connections through SFTP always ignore any proxy settings I might have configured. 3.9.6 and older do not.

I've got it configured to use a HTTP proxy, over port 443. The "Bypass Proxy" setting for the connection I use is not checked.

The console shows the following lines (after enabling detailed output):

Response:	fzSftp started
Command:	proxy 1 "proxy.domain.com" 443
Command:	open "user@site.com" 2222

But then it actually does a direct connection instead. I confirmed this by looking at my firewall's network connections view, netstat, and by the fact that I'm no longer speed-limited by the proxy.

I've downgraded until the issue disappeared, and found that the proxy 3.9.6 and older versions do not have this issue.

I assume it's caused by the "Updated SFTP components from PuTTY" change introduced in 3.10.0-beta3, but I might be wrong.

#10236 Unknown Certificate with many SAN entries missing "Always trust certificate..." high fixed 9 years 9 years
Description

Since updating FileZilla Client from v3.10.0.2 to v3.10.1.1, when FileZilla prompts for my 'Unknown certificate' it no longer shows the checkbox for 'Always trust certificate for future sessions'.

Certificate is within the Validity period and host address matches the SAN. This is self-signed, with many SAN entries to cover all accessible hostnames the FTP is accessed from internally and externally.

I can only assume because of the number of SAN in the list, it pushes the checkbox off screen, and doesn't have anything to do with any problem or expiration of the certificate.

Only other issues I found similar to this were expired certificates where the checkbox was visible, but not selectable.

For me, it's not even visible.

Hello, please bear with me, I am very much a newbie. I barely know how to upload files, but have been doing that through you for a while and all was going fine until recently when I updated my version of FileZilla. I keep getting error messages, such as "Failed to retrieve directory listing", and can't connect to my website(s)on my main computer. I called GoDaddy for help, and they thought it might be my browser or firewall, but nothing changed and I don't think that's it. Then I tried to upload via my laptop, which had an older version of FileZilla, and it worked fine. I asked my friend who told me about FileZilla a few years ago, and he suggested I report the issue, because maybe no one else has noticed it. I can't imagine that I'd be the only one, but don't know what else to do. Here is the message I've been getting: " Status: Connecting to 160.153.59.0:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Initializing TLS... Status: Verifying certificate... Status: TLS connection established. Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is your current location Command: TYPE I Response: 200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (160,153,59,0,198,14) Command: MLSD Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing"

Can you help? Bear in mind it's hard for me to comprehend much of this at all. I hope I am using the proper protocol to ask for help. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Steve

#9581 Automatically downloaded updates end up in Documents, not in Downloads low duplicate 10 years 9 years
Description

Awesome new feature to automatically download updates to FileZilla, however, instead of in the user'sDownloads folder, the archive ends up in Documents instead. Only a minor nuisance, but still I think this should be corrected.

#10021 Listing times out ... every time. normal duplicate 9 years 9 years
Description

I've just updated to the latest version of FileZilla. Now it times out everytime and I have been unable to do a successful upload. I know it's the version of FileZilla at fault, because I then tried again, on my laptop, with the previous version still installed and succeeded without any problem at all. Here is the sequence showing where it times out:- Status: Resolving address of hannahmarco.co.uk Status: Connecting to 173.254.28.74:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Initializing TLS... Status: Verifying certificate... Status: TLS connection established. Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is your current location Command: TYPE I Response: 200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (173,254,28,74,81,14) Command: MLSD Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

#10020 Filezilla is not connecting not retrieving directory listing normal outdated 9 years 9 years
Description

Up to this morning I have had no difficulties with Filezilla either when uploading or downloading to a site I have been using for year. This morning I updated Filezilla. Immediately I had a popup notice informing me that the licence to this site was not recognised. The notice allowed me to override this. However, I noticed that the check box allowing me to indicate that this site can be trusted in future had not been enabled.

The site I am trying to connect to is run by Freeola.com, and I was attempting a connection to vip4.freeola.net.

This is the log of the attempted connection:-

Status: Resolving address of vip4.freeola.net Status: Connecting to 193.0.158.4:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Initializing TLS... Status: Verifying certificate... Status: TLS connection established. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is your current location Command: TYPE I Response: 200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (193,0,158,4,182,147) Command: MLSD Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing.

I have included an attachment which is the licence warning I received on a pop up screen.

I am concerned that up to noon today I was able to use your software to connect to this site, as I have been doing for several years, and then with the 'improved' update it is now effectively useless to me.

#8114 Prompts again for action on file aready exists, despite "always use this action"/"apply only to current queue" previously checked within same queue high fixed 12 years 9 years
Description

Steps to reproduce the bug:

  1. Select a folder with many subfolder on the server. Make sure you have a folder of the same name on the client with a similar tree structure containing at least a few files in common. Right click and choose "Download"
  1. When the first file that already exists is found, the prompt appears asking you what to do.
  • Select "Overwrite"
  • Check "Always use this action"
  • Check "Apply only to current queue"
  1. Click OK

Expected: it should download all the rest of the files and never ever ask you again what to do with existing files in the current queue

Observed: every once in a while the "file already exists" dialog appears again. I select "always use this action" and "apply to current queue only" again, and again, but it will still pop up again.

I don't know if this happens when the connection is lost and reestablished with the server. Even if this is the case it is wrong.

#10234 "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available" doens't work even when certfiicate correct? normal rejected 9 years 9 years
Description

I have not been able to access this server with the updated versions of FileZilla - I have asked host and they agree that certificate is there and is correct and in date etc and therefore I should be able to access via TLS and thus a filezilla bug (?)
